Unless someone develops some sort of DRM for lossless files, I doubt you'll see any (from mainstream artists, anyway) anytime soon.
That being said, I've downloaded some .flac files from allofmp3. Mostly from recently released "Greatest Hits" compilations that I've had on vinyl for decades. (I claim 'fair use' )

Hi I've been trying to set one of my songs as my ringtone but it doesn't give me that option plz help with that.
I've also downloaded music from the internet via UC Browser and on my old phone it would save it to my playlist but on the Iphone it doesnt y?

You can't download music through anything other than the iTunes store or by syncing music that you have on your computer that is placed into iTunes. Once the music is in iTunes, you can sync it to the phone.

  • I changed my AppleID password this morning and now I can't load iTunes gift card numbers to download music. The system keeps taking me to the account screen to verify payment info. When I click on DONE, it takes me back to the password screen.

I changed my AppleID password this morning and now I can't load gift card numbers into iTunes to download music. The system takes me to the account settings screen to verify those and when I click on DONE, it takes me back to the password screen and I start over. This becomes an endless loop. What now.

    Greetings Ron,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with gift card issues. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
If you can't redeem your iTunes Gift Card or code
    Contact iTunes Store Support
If the code is completely scratched off or you still can't redeem your gift card, contact iTunes Support:
Go to the iTunes Store support page and choose your country.
From the menu on the left, choose Contact Support.
    Click Contact iTunes Store Support.
    Follow the instructions.
iTunes Store Support might ask you to send these things:
Image of the full front and back of your gift card
Sales receipt showing when your card was purchased
Serial number from your gift card
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • I recently downloaded music from the iTunes store but it doesn't play on my iPod

I recently downloaded music through the iTunes store and synched it manually to my iPod nano (5th generation) and while it shows up on my iPod when I scroll through my list of artists/songs/albums it will not play any sound if selected and will not play through at all. At the very best all it will do is skip ahead 1 to 2 songs. What do I need to do?
I think it's also worth noting that the songs work on my other devices (laptop and iPad mini) absolutely fine with zero issues.

I had some time finally figuring why I could buy and download from the Itunes store, but could not load it on my IPOD. What finally worked was plugging my IPOD in to the computer, as I would when "syncing", and, after loading, it would show my device in the side bar. You have to go to VIEW in the top Tool Bar and click on SHOW SIDE BAR in the drop down menu. "SUMMARY' tab, on top, is what I clicked on to show an option of restoring my IPOD to the factory defaults. It erases everything on the IPOD, but gives an option of AUTOFILL afterwards, which it does from the computer. This is one solution of many you could try. Good luck.

  • Why cant i download music in the Uk the same time as the USA why do we have to wait weeks and weeks to download music when other countries can download it straight away?

#itunes store. Why cant i download music in the UK the same time as in the USA? Why do we have to wait weeks and weeks to downloand music when other fans can dowload music in other coutries when it is released in the US?

Itunes can only provide what the owners of the distribution rights to the music provide.
If the owner of the rights do not provide it, then itunes cannot sell it.
You would have to ask the owners of the distribution rights in each country why they do not provide them at the same time.

  • I downloaded music from the internet and edited it in Itunes. How do I keep the details of the song in windows explorer?

So basically I downloaded music from the internet and edited the artist, album, album art and all that stuff on Itunes. But when I go back to windows explorer, i dont have those details

Possibilities are that you are working with copies of the originals in which case it is only the copies that get updated, or that the songs are in .wav format and cannot carry a tag, or are in some other format and didn't include a tag so iTunes hasn't created one even though it has recorded details internally, or that there are mp3 files with multiple tags. iTunes doesn't cope well with multiple tags (despite these conforming to standards) and in this case may be making changes to one copy while Windows Explorer continues to show unchanged data from another. Use a 3rd party tag tool to inspect a problem album, or select the tracks and use Right-click > Convert ID3 Tags > None two or three times to strip out the embedded tags, then use Convert ID3 Tags > v2.3 to recreate them.
Note the process of cleaning and rewriting the tags will remove any embedded art. You can use my script CreateFolderArt before and after converting the tags to preserve and then embed the artwork, provided that you don't store songs from different albums in the same folder. Test a single track or album first to make sure the process has the desired result and only apply where needed.

  • I am a new user of iTunes and want to download music.   The instructions are:  1. Find the item you want  2. Click the button to download.   My problem is that I can not find a download button - what does it look like please?

I am a new uses of iTunes and want to download music.   The instructions say:
    1.  Find the item you want
    2.  Click the button to download
My problem is that I can't find a download button to click.   Where does it appear please?

Thank you a million times over.   I've literally spent hours trying to solve this and I think those responsible for compiling the 'Help' notes for iTunes would be well advised to make this point clear in the downloading instructions.

  • I've just downloaded itunes on a new computer, and I'm downloading music from the cloud, but it seems to stick on certain songs and won't download them at all, stopping at a certain point. How do I get round this?

    Hi all,
I've just downloaded itunes onto a new computer, and I'm currently downloading previously owned music from the cloud. However, it keeps sticking on various songs - it will get part of the way through and just stop, this seems to happen to about 1 in 10 songs. How do I get round this?
Also, once I've finished dowloading from the cloud, how do I get my library to display only the songs I've downloaded, and not all the other ones that I don't want anymore?
    Cheers, Alex

On the new laptop, launch iTunes. From the menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer.

  • How do I download music on the new version of iTunes? My iPod is connected to my computer but when I would drag the music to download it on my iPod, the side window does not show up anymore, therefore it seems to not be connected to iTunes. HELP!

So ever since I downloaded the new version of iTunes, I have no idea how to add music to my iPod. On the last version, their was a box next to the iTunes Store box that said "_______'s iPod". Because I just used to drag my music to the box and add it through there, I have no idea where I would "drag" my music file now to add it. Simply, I just need to know how to add music to my iPod again in the most recent version of iTunes on my computer (11.1.5).

Cntrl + S will enable the side bar.
Then you can manually manage media on your iDevice as you always have.
Alternatively, control the content on the device by syncing the playlists and other media that you desire to the device.

  • HT1296 My ipod was a gift and had music downloaded.  How do I download music from the Itunes installed on my pc?

My ipod is sync'd to my son's pc, which he no longer has.  How do I now sync my ipod to my pc so I can download music from my itunes?

    Follow these instructions:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
    To sync:
If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
To sync to your iPod go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod.... and follow the instructions.

  • ITunes won't let me download music off the cloud

My hard drive corrupted earlier this year but thanks to iTunes match I can download all my music back off the cloud onto my laptop. I've been downloading as much as  my bandwidth allocates me each month, so when it came to the start of this month, I began downloading the rest of my music from the cloud.
Ever since iTunes has updated, every time it tries to download a track it says it failed and to make sure I'm connected to the server and to try again. I've tried this on a few different networks with the same result.
My iTunes match membership runs out in the next couple of weeks so I'm keen to get this sorted as soon as possible.

  • I can't download music from the Internet on Safari 4

Previously, downloading music was a strange process, since most MP3s opened in QuickTime, on the Safari Page. To be able to save mp3s, I bought QuickTime Pro, and would click the "Save as Source" and save the file to the Music Folder. Now MP3s are still opening in QuickTime Pro, but "Save as Source" is gone. Maybe I was downloading music in a cumbersome way in the first place. But the loss of a "save" option when music is playing -- "Save As" is also grayed out, in the Safari "File" menu -- seems weird. Any ideas?

Are you saying you cannot right-click the MP3 link directly in Safari, and simply select "Download Linked File as" and select a directory to save it in?
    Works for me. Always has.

  • Re-downloading music from the iCloud

Hi, could somebody advise me as to whether I am able to re-download music from iCloud that was added by myself (not purchased) from CDs on a laptop that has since been master rebooted.
    Thanks.

Feel an idiot now as I have worked it out.
Couldn't have been easier actually. Just the press the cloud button that has an arrow in it which puts it onto your computer.
Thanks to Apple for the iCloud - absolutely fantastic technology
