Downloading my first app

i just got the iPhone yesterday and wanted to download an app, but when i click on it to install it asks me for a user name and password. i didn't set one up at the time of purchasing the phone. do i use my apple website username and password? thanks for any help

its whatever user name and password you use for iTunes...more than likely it is your Apple website log-on

Restored ipod touch(and started as new) is downloading "The Oregon Trail" whenever i try to download the first app on the device...I know people say you cant get a virus but im sure this is one. Any idea on how to get it off?

The computer where i always sync to and stuff got a virus the other day so i reinstalled windows which deleted data on the computer. As a precaution i restored my ipod (no backup) and everything seemed fine as i checked for any left over data. The ipod had the home page and the search page. Then i decided to get some apps. I signed in, pressed install button for textplus(first app on the clean ipod) and then it started loading. However, next to the loading textplus app there was the app "The Oregon Trail" which i know i did NOT install. "The Oregon Trail" is paused and not loading but the picture of the app is different from the one in the app store. I am convinced this is a virus because not only does it look different from the app store version and i ended up on my ipod without permission, it also takes up more memory than the app store says (around 350mb). I've restored multiple times and the same problem comes up again and again and again. Once i let the app load and then deleted it, but when i check i only have the same amount of memory than bfore. Does this mean i cant download any apps because of this corrupt app?????

- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers

- For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem

How do i enable my disabled ipod touch 4th generation? ...I had just downloaded my first app when someone stole it. I asked people who might know where its at and luckily a friend was able to get it back for me. only problem was, it was disabled already!

after all ive gone through with it in just a days time of actually being able to use, its stolen,but luckily I got it bac,\k, but then unlucky its disabled when i get it back. didnt have a computer i could downlaod itunes on and connect to my ipod via usb cable. Finally, my friend brings me her laptop computer and I download the app. yesss. then i connect ipod. nothing happened at first. still said ipod disabled connect to itunes on display. then after i exited out of the various windows i opened to get it to its current position. bam, out of no where it sends out a notification sound and its showing itunes logo with a usb cable beneath it arrow in midst of the two pointing to i tunes. wallah itunes shows ipod touch on left and displays downlaod process after i answered various questions to allow it to downlaod updates and restore my ipod. . i was excited and relieved needless to say... why am I here now though, with what seems to be the same problem. you see it downloads a part of the file then about 20 mins into it or less than 25% through, i hear a beep sound from my ipod again. no it wasn"t finished with download as i had eexpected it to say but instead it said itunes was unable to access my ipods files cause my ipod had a password protection on it and that i needed to enter that password on my ipod first in order for the itunes app be able to access it.!!! HELLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ANYBODY SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I HAVE TO CONNECT TO ITUNES TO REENABLE IT BUT WHEN I DO THAT, I CAN DO IT TIL I ENTER MY PASSWORD ON IPOD FIRST , WHICH CANT ACCESS PASSWORD OVERRIDE SCREEN UNTIL ITS CONNECTED TO ITUNES. BACK AND FORTH BACK AND FORTH. SOMEBODY PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME ASAP BEFORE MY FRIEND COMES FOR HER LAPTOP BACK.. ANY HELP WHATSOEVER PLEASE . Trying to download my first App but I get the infinite pinwheel

As I attempt to download my first app, ipad is asking to review my account. After I hit the "next" button, it does nothing. Why?

I am trying to download the app "MobileIron". It will ask for my username and password. Then it tells me, I need to review my account settings. Then it does nothing.

There is nothing wrong with my iTunes, is more of the App store that I am concerned about. And I've tried the "Authorise this computer" yes it does download when using iTunes, but no luck with App Store. And, yes I am logged onto iTunes when doing purchases.
I find this really fustrating because the App store works fine on my ipod but once it comes to my macbook, it does not download. A few seconds later after I click on an app to download, the pop up message notifies me that the purchase cannot be downloaded.
Anyways, thanks for your suggestion.

Trouble installing first app on iMac

I am trying to download my first app on a new iMac and keep getting the message "quit Safari" about halfway through installing. Safari is not running. I had no problem downloading same app to my old PC.

For some reason this happens to some people. The one thing that works is to reboot your iPad. To reboot: Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time for at least 10 seconds (ignore the red slider) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad wil restart. Once it's back up, I'm betting you'll see iBooks.

If so do you know why as its supposed to be free?

You will need to setup an Apple ID in iTunes and choose the option to not have a credit card. Then you will be able to download free apps.
I don't think you can do this on your phone, instead you need to do on a PC

ITunes keeps attempting to download a particular app when I update other apps via phone store

These errors don't happen all the time, but it happens enough that it's getting rather tiresome to work around it. Both of these problems happen when I am requested to update an app on my phone, or I try to download an app from the store on my phone. I'm not sure if it's two separate problems occuring at the same time, or one big problem with two symptoms.
Problem 1:
I receive a badge on my App Store that one of my apps requires an update or I want to download a new app. I go to the update tab and click on "Update" or click on "purchase." The password pop-up appears, but then closes and a new pop-up appears that says "Gif Boom and 22 other apps cannot be downloaded at this time." I click okay to close the notification, then click the button again, whereupon the password box appears, I fill it in and the download proceeds as should be expected.
I haven't had Gifboom on my phone for almost a year, and I have no idea why it's trying to update an app that isn't even on my phone.
Problem 2:
This occurs in conjunction with the previous problem, but doesn't always happen when the first problem occurs.
I go to download an update or new app, and as the new app or update is installing, a greyed out box for the app Shadow Age appears in the newest slot, labeled as "waiting." I downloaded the Shadow Age app last summer and deleted it after a few weeks. For some reason it keeps trying to redownload it onto my phone when I download an app or update. If I hold down the icon, the little black X doesnt appear. The only way to get rid of it is to reboot the phone.
Neither Gifboom nor Shadow Age are on my computer, so it is not trying to sync it from there. I have autosync turned off in iTunes on my computer, iCloud is turned off on my phone, and Automatic Downloads for Music and Apps is turned off on my phone. There is nothing that I can see that should be requesting my phone to download Gifboom, Shadow Age, or any of these other 22 apps.
Last resort is a backup and system restore as I have quite a few games on my phone that I don't want to lose saved data from, and I don't know if the backup will just backup the error as well.
I have seen similar posts saying that apps keep reappearing when syncing to a computer, but mine are coming from the iTunes store directly onto my phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You may want to try reorgnizing the iTunes library by clicking File, Library, Organize Library, then check Consolidate files and Upgrade to iTunes Media organization or Reorganize files in the folder iTunes Media.
You can also try re-creating your iTunes library and playlists.
Then delete the app, if it shows up in iTunes or the Mobile Applications folder again.

If you tried to restore to your iCloud backup and your photos didn't fully restore, first go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup and make sure it isn't still in the process of restoring.
If the restore is complete and all your photos weren't restored, all you can do is try restoring the backup again. You might try the solution posted by ezjules in this discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/message/19518589#19518589. This involves opening the photos app after the phone restarts and you provide the passwords for your Apple IDs, then leaving it open for the remainder of the restore process.

Mac App Store does nothing when I click download on any App

my problem is that when I am in the Mac App Store and click download on any App or on the new OS X Yosemite (which is why I am opening this thread) nothing happens.
The font turns grey indicating that I clicked the button, but after that... nothing. I don't even get an error message telling me what's wrong.
And when I go to another Tab in the Store like from "Updates" to "Highlights" and then back to Updates it shows the button as if I didn't click it in the first place.
Images (english is not my main language):
What I did is search for hours what could be wrong. What I tried was:
- Log Out and start the application again, then log back in
- Try downloading with another Apple-ID
- Start the MacBook in Safe-Mode
- Several restarts of the MB itself
- Repair the rights to the volume (this one is tricky for me to explain: something like the HardDrive Managing Program)
Those are the things I can remember.
Other information that might be useful:
- I have a stable WiFi Connection and no VPN or similar in use
- Except from Google Chrome I didn't install anything as I got the MB a few days ago where it was as if it was used the first time
I hope you can help me as I am really desperate getting this to work.

I am running OX YS X YOSEMITE 10.10.3 with a macbook pro 13" and have this same problem: App store shows there are apps to update. I click update (either just one or all), and they mac shows the update button greyed out, as if i had pressed "UPDATE". For hours on end, nothing happens. NOTHING! I've restarted the mac, which is about as much as i know. Please help me solve this issue, as i'm using Pages and numbers apps and feel like they are stuck in apple limbo/**** without the new update. Oh my gosh I had the EXACT same problem, and for ages I couldn't figure out how to fix it until today. Here's what I did:
First I went onto my computer, opened itunes, and un-installed tumblr, vine and kik. These were the apps I was having problems with (it said I had them on my phone but, like you, they didn't show).
Then I went to the itunes store, searched for each one, and it said I could update them so I did (just FYI: for tumblr a window popped up saying "please click ok to confirm you are 17 years or older", so I did that also)
When I went back to my phone and tried installing them again (still on my computer), it worked!
