Downloading new AHT disc...

I recently bought a "cheaper" craigslist version of leopard for my G4. I am getting the error "waiting:we are hanging here...". I know that is a kernal panic error and some have said that it's probably due to the disc I bought being system specific/i got robbed/etc. I emailed the guy whom I had bought it from and ask him about the problem and he said to try a couple things but he said he thought the logic board may be going out? So in an attempt to clear that up I am trying to get a new AHT disc since I don't have the original that came with the computer.
He sent me the link to where to download it (I think) but the disc image i download only has a read-me. Disc utility won't let me burn this "Apple Hardware Test" disc on my desktop to an actual blank CD (I am trying to use disc utility since that is what Apple advised). I can't seem to get whatever I am downloading onto a CD. I burned one CD already and held down the "c" key while the computer started with no change or response in the start up what-so-ever. Just started up completely normal so i have no idea what I am doing wrong or what to do to run this hardware test to clear up all the odds and ends so i can just get my money back from this guy if need be. I have exhausted all I know to read of the Apple help stuff online.
I am lost at this point. Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated!

All the files besides the Read Me are hidden files. unmount that dmg in the Finder, Open Disk Utility and look for that dmg & Burn the DMG.

Software upgrades do not generally damage hardware; your drive's failure must be co-incidental. On most MBP's, a hard drive is very easily replaced by a user. You might want to check out this site for both hard drives as well as install videos (check which model you have so you can check the correct video):

In addition to the comments above, when you create a new library with the media that you recover this will be treated as "new" for the device and iTunes may want to wipe it and start over, losing any personal data and settings. The following approach ought to help.
You should be able to:
Backup the device to your iTunes installation
Transfer your purchases into a library authorized to your account
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer (same as above)
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

Always crashing and rebooting when booting from my new win7-disc. Lenovo 3000 n200 0769-erg

I have a fully working Vista system on my n200, trying to boot from my new win7-disc, even tried to boot from usb but it's the same:
"Loading windows files" followed by "Starting windows" with the new win7-logo.. After that comes a fat cursor(guess the resolution is lower, like in "Rescue and recovery").
This cursor and a black screen is all I see for ~5 secs before it crashes. Same thing every time.
It might be Rescue and recovery that starts there and crashes. If that's the case, how do I remove it/fix it in a safe way? Or can i try something else first?
I am able to boot Linux from CD fyi..

If you have tried installing Windows 7 in both AHCI/Compatible mode and the Windows 7 installer still crashes, can you try to run a diagnostic on the RAM/HDD (to make sure there's no hardware fault).
To run the diagnostics:
1. Download the the UBCD ISO
2. Burn the ISO using imgburn
3. Boot from the diagnostic cd and use MemTest86+ for the memory test and use Data Lifeguard (if you have a Western Digital HDD).
To burn the diagnostic softwre on a flashdrive, follow this guide.
If you get any errors, you will need to contact lenovo for service or you can DIY and replace the defective components.

If the machine was upgraded to Lion 10.7.x by the original owner then you bought an illegal license of Lion and also of any other applications that the seller said came pre-installed, this assumes the seller did not include original install media. In that case you need to contact the seller for the original install DVDs that came with the machine re-install up to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and then purchase Mountain Lion ($20) and the applications you want or need. If the seller cannot come up with the original install discs then you can buy them from a nominal cost from AppleCare..

Which version of the OS is installed, and which version are you trying to install?
You could try starting up with Startup Manager and see if it will allow you to select the OS X install disc as the startup disk. If so, maybe you can proceed from there. I would recommend repairing the hard drive first since you are evidently having a bit of a problem with it.

Can't update after installation CS5 to new hard disc, Help?

You have entered an upgrade serial number for CS5 so the installer wants you to enter either a CS2 or CS3 or CS4 serial number to verify that you're eligible to use the CS5 upgrade serial number.

If you can... you need to Upgrade your OS X to 10.6.8
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.

You need to reinstall the printer driver, and set up the printer on the new hard drive.
The Canon site should have the driver. Download it and install.
Then go to Apple menu / System Preferences / Print & Fax and click the + (plus sign) and follow the directions.

New Hard Disc Drive installed but is not recognised on reboot.

My Toshiba Satellite A200-1BW hard drive went (200gb, mk2035gss). I bought a new 500gb (mq01abd050) toshiba one and replaced it. After formatting it will not recognise the new drive. It goes through the formating process ok. on startup it says:-
"media test failure" then later:- "Windows could not complete the installation, To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation."
so far I have:- reinstalled/formatted many times. device manager in dos. disabled all network adapters and then restart. I do not have the option in BIOS to go from sata mode to compatability mode. Is this a Bios problem? mine is ISKAE BIOS VERSION V1.30 (26/32007). tried downloading new bios but appears not to work.
I have 2048mb of ram in the machine. windows vista ultimate.
I can boot up sometimes with the old drive which works for a while before freezing. I can attach the 500gb hdd externally via usb and it works fine. It has two partitions. 1.46gb WinRE and Vista. The old hdd 200gb has the same1.46gb and Vista. however when i use computer management the old hdd says the 1.46gb partition is healthy(EISA Configuration) and the new 500gb 1.46gb partition says healthy (primary partition), and the old hdd vista says healthy (system, Boot, Page file, Active, Crash dump, Primary partition). The new vista just says healthy (Active, Primary partition).
Is this the problem or is this simple because it has not configured everything yet as it has never booted from the new drive? How do i get the new drive to say system, boot etc....... the old drives 1.46gb partion has no name and i cannot open it to see what's in there. the new one WinRE i can open. it has boot.sdi and a folder "sources". in that folder is a file boot.wim The files installed on the new drive look the same as the old drive as far as I can see.
in computer management i have made the new hdd default OS. If I reboot and go into system recovery options it lists the 2 drives. the old one says "microsoft windows vista" the new drive says" windows vista (tm) ultimate (recovered)
CD drive may need replacing so if I need to use the recovery disc again I will need help making a USB flash drive to boot up as the one i tried did nothing. what other info do you need?

Hi! I'm not much help, but I seem to be the only one replying. I don't know Norton ghost 10. I use Macrium Reflect and I have always been able to restore my drive to just like the day I made the image. I have done it many times. Macriuum Reflect is my best friend. I just boot with the Linux based CD that you make on day one. I plug in my external USB. Macrium finds all my images and I just chose the date I want and in less than two hours I'm back up and running. I have never lost on bite of data and it has never let me down. I have no use for any thing Norton makes.

PS The screen shot shows all three partitions of my HD. I can chose any one partition or all three if I'm restoring to a new drive. This is all I know. I can also mount any partition and see what is on it with Macrium.
PS Here is all the files that are on my recovery partition.

I am trying to use itunes, it will not open at all, have uninstalled and downloaded new software and 64bit for windows. i have an old ipod nano from about 5 years ago. anything i can do, even to view my purchases and watch/listen to music etc?

ok i have a advent roma laptop with window 7. my itunes used to work fine, completely. every time i plugged in my ipod it was ok. recently my ipod was not working so i never bothered with itunes, however i have movies/tv prog that i purchased and would like to view them. i have an ipod nano from about 5 years ago, the problem with thet is, it switches on, but the circular control panel does nothing, all you can do is lock and unlock it - nothing else.
i tried to download new version of itunes, then uninstalled my origonal version, incase it was corrupted etc, i then again tried to down load new version and also version that is windows 64bit. still when i select the downlaod to open as son as it is finnished nothing happens. and now my desktop shortcut has dissapeared. before when it was there, id double click it, nothing, right click to open it, nothing.
im not the best technically minded but i just dont see what im doing wrong here, please help
