Downloading new Google Earth

Is there a way to acquire what is needed for downloading the new Google Earth? I get the message: The page “Google Earth” has content of MIME type “application/geplugin”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed. Thanks for any help.

Hi hrbirkie,
not that I am aware of.
I used this website http://earth.google.com/ clicked on the 'Download Google Earth 5.0 ' button, got to this website http://earth.google.com/intl/en/download-earth.html clicked 'Agree and download' and got to this website http://earth.google.com/intl/en/thanks.html#p=mac and the download started automatically.
Truth is that my Firefox 3.06 remarked that I need additional plugins to view all the content of the website, but that doesn't hindered the download process.
And yes, Firefox can't find an appropriate plugin for the 'geplugin' type.
But on the last mentioned website there is a possibility to download the 'Google Earth Plugin'.

  • New Google Earth does not run on my 24" iMac

This morning I downloaded and installed the new Google Earth 4.0.2 beta on my 24" iMac. GE loads but crashes as soon as I attempt to navigate to any where. Now I am trying to download the previous version 3 from Google but it just downloads the newest beta and because I told the new version to replace my old version I have no version. Any body else having the same problem? I have 2.16, 2gig, 7600, 500MB iMac.
    24" iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

It runs fine here. Since you are having the same problem on the new machine, and the machine you migrated from (sounds like you migrated your Home folder) why don't you try this:
    1. Quit Google Earth
    2. Navigate to ~/Library/Preferences (Note: "~" is the Short Name for your user account, which can be viewed in System Preferences --> Accounts)
    3. Move the file 'com.Google.GoogleEarthPlus.plist' to your Desktop.
    4. Relaunch Google Earth and see if the problem persists.

  • Is there a way to download a google earth aerial map to ipad2?

I have downloaded google earth to my ipad2. Is there another program or app to actually download the map or aerial to the iPad2?

    Jim,
I downloaded the google earth app and can find locations. However I don't see an option to download or save an aerial map on the app version of google earth like you do on the version for my desktop.
May hope is to download aerials of a clients property while at site meetings then use upad to mark it up with my notes.

  • Uninstalling or Removing Google Earth

I am new to the Mac and recently downloaded Google Earth 4.2. It downloaded the Google Earth dmg. Not knowing what a dmg was I also downloaded it again. I would like to be able to remove both dmg items.
I had read previously that the dmg can be removed once the installation is complete, however with Google Earth it appears the application launches from there, not installs.
I have not been able to place the dmg files in the trash, delete Google Earth, uninstall, place in the trash (error code -61), empty the trash and the help site instruction from Google Earth do not work.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I had read previously that the dmg can be removed once the installation is complete, however with Google Earth it appears the application launches from there, not installs.
When an application is provided via a dmg, it usually does not include an installer. After the dmg is downloaded, it is expanded and a disk image should be mounted and appear on your Desktop - looks like an external drive named Google Earth.
To install the app on your hard drive, you open the disk image on your Desktop to reveal the Google Earth.app and icon. You can launch and use the app from there, but this does not install the app on your hard drive. To install the app on your hard drive, select and drag the app from the mounted disk image to your Applications folder. This copies the app from the mounted disk image to your hard drive with no installer required. When the copy is completed, close the window for the mounted disk image. To eject the mounted disk image from the Desktop, with the mounted disk image selected at the Finder menu bar go to File and select Eject Google Earth, or via the keyboard by selecting Command E.
After the mounted disk image is ejected and removed from your Desktop, you can delete the downloaded dmg file.

I want to view a 3d fly over map of a golf course at golffrontier.com When I click on it a window comes up saying I need to download the google earth 3d plug in to be able to view the video. Does that plug in cause any problems on the mac computer? My mac processor is 2.7 GHz Int Core i5 with 8 GB 1333 MHzDDR 3. I am running Safari 6.0.4 with Lion 10.7.5. Thank you.

No, you should have no troubles. Just go to:
    http://earth.google.com
to download the installer and the plug-in. One test site (after you've installed the plug-in) is:

  • How to see stars and constelations from Google Earth app?

I've recently downloaded the Google Earth app onto my iPhone and it works fine. I thought I read in Sunday Times that you could view the night sky from your location and so see the stars and constellations. Can anyone tell me how to do this please?

When you first turn on Google Earth you can see the stars and minimize and rotate the earth and you will see the constellations. They appear accurate.
There are some apps you might want to download if you are interested in astronomy:
    Planets
    Distant Suns lite
    Stars
    Hubble
    MoonMaplite
they are all free. There are some good paid apps available also.

  • Unable to download Google Earth to new macbook pro running Yosemite.

On Google Earth site the download link fails to start loading immediately. Using the link provided in the event of such failure I am taken to di.google.com which starts to load then also fails part way through. Whether I go straight to the google site or go via a third party link the same thing happens. Any solutions?

  • Based in Thailand, but I can't download Facebook and Google Earth for iPad, what do I do?

Trying to download Facebook and Google Earth applications for the new iPad 2.  I'm based in Thailand and is unable to find in Thai iTune store.  Very frustrated.  But when I change location to either USA or UK, those two apps do appear.  The only stumbling block is that I do not have a credit card based on those two countries, thus unable to create an account there.  What can I do to get around this weird situation?

It is really weird that they do have a Facebook application for iPhone, but not for iPad in Thai iTune store.
There could be copyright or other legal issues of some sort, or Facebook may just not have the iPad version regionalized yet. No way to know with any certainty.
So we are unable to download applications elsewhere besides our region/country?
That is correct. The terms of use for any country's iTunes/App Store restrict its use to within that country only.
Or is there anything we could do to bring to attention the people who work for iTune Thailand that they need to make available certain applications that already do appear in foreign iTune stores?
It's not up to Apple, it's up to the developers. You'd need to contact Facebook and Google and urge them to make their apps available in Thailand.
    Regards.

  • Google earth will not run since downloading yosemite

google earth will not run since downloading yosemite

    Do a backup.
    Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.

Every since my Bionic updated to the new Google Play Market, I can only download or update apps when I am in a WIFI location, regardless of the size. This is very upsetting. Does anyone know why this is?

Have you checked the app settings for the Play Store?
Motorola also has data or power management settings that can restrict how applications can downloads updates.

  • How do I uninstall Google Earth that I downloaded in error

    Hi,
I am a newcomer to imac (and Apple Support Communities !) and downloaded Google Earth without realising that I could use Google Maps.   How do I uninstall Google Earth and remove the icon from my dock ?    I have the latest imac and most up to date operating system.

  • I downloaded Google Earth for mac os X 10.6.8 but it wouldn't open.  Why not?

Sarfari version is 5.1.5.  I got the Google Earth icon on the desktop, but wasn't sure I was installing it on the Mac Hard drive.  When I see the plus sign, does and then press enter, does that install where it's supposed to on the HD?

Google Earth downloads as a dmg.  Depending you your settings that dmg may be opened and mounted on your desktop.  If it isn't double click the dmg to mount it.  On the desktop you will see a folder named "Google Earth".  Inside are two files; Google Earth Web Plug-in.plugin and Google Earth (app).  Double click the plugin to install it.  Drag the app to anywhere you want, for example /Applications.  You can then double click the app to run it.
Note, what I just described is shown in the instructions under the files on the mounted dmg folder.

  • Why can't I download Google Earth?

Just bought a Mac air.  Been a long time windows 7 user.  So far don't think too much of Apple's system.  Why doesn't Google Earth download?

That sounds as if you're trying to access Google+ (their social site). This is the page you have to go through (to accept conditions) to download Google Earth:
    http://www.google.co.uk/intl/en_uk/earth/download/ge/agree.html

  • Where can I find a version of Google Earth that I can download using OS X 10.5.8?

Google Earth says it requires OS X 10.6. Where can I find a download that will work with OS X 10.5.8? Thanks!

Force quit Google Earth if it is open.  Then, if there is a copy of Google Earth in your Applications folder, drag the Google Earth on your desktop to the trash.  Don't empty the trash yet.
Open the Google Earth from the one in the Applications folder.  If this is the first time you used it from the Applications folder, you might get the message, "this is an appliaction you downloaded from the internet.  Do you want to open it?"  Open it, let load completely, quit it, and open it again.  The message should not reappear.
    Now empty the trash.
Restart your computer.  Does Google Earth reappear on your desktop?  If so, there is probably a LaunchAgent for it in your Macintosh HD> Users> your user name> Library> LaunchAgents folder.  You can remove it.  It could be under the Macintosh HD> Library> LaunchAgents or Launch Daemons or StartupItems folders.
I can't remember exactly where it was, but I hated it appearing on my desktop, and I removed from one or more of these locations.
    Good luck.
