Downloading Oracle Designer
I tried downloading Oracle designer for 10.g/9i. After successful download the .zip file does not open and says does not appear to be a valid Zip file. Please download again. In this process, I have down loaded 4 times already (Both for 10g and 9i) with no success, same error every time. I don't believe this really suits the profile of a company like Oracle. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
I just took a look and downloaded each file successfully. Please make sure to compare the file size with the one we have listed on the page to make sure you are getting the complete file download.

Oracle Designer Install and Missing DLL's
To Whom It May Concern:
I downloaded Oracle Designer from the download page on the Oracle site and am having difficulty installing and/or starting the Oracle Designer application.
1) Oracle Designer Install Win32 does not allow Home names longer than 16 characters.
??? - the default Home name for Oracle Client 10g is OraClient10g_Home1
2) After installation, Unable to locate [xxx].dll occurred multiple times. I manually copied the first missing DLL to the Oracle\...\Client_1\bin directory from [ZipFile]Install\Win32, but I couldn't find the second dll.
What do I need to do to be able to use Oracle Designer?
I am Running Oracle Client 10g on Win XP Pro SP 2
Thank you,
Alan GerberOriginal question withdrawn.
I found the small print...Oracle Developer Suite Required.
For those of us new to this environment, you might consider putting the requirements/dependencies on the download page or in the installation program.
Thank you,

Oracle Designer Import - Missing Application Systems
Hi,
I'm tryiing to import an Oracle Designer data model into SQL Developer Data Model 3.0, which I downloaded today. I seem to have my connection to the Designer repository set up OK and I can select the non-versioned Workarea. When I click Next none of my application systems are displayed. The Oracle Designer build is 9.0.4.6.19 and the the DMBS is version 10.2.0.4. Any suggestions as to what I'm missing, greatly appreciated.
IanPhil,
Any idea on liikely timeframe for a fix? Our situation is basically that we are worried about potential issues with Designer as we upgrade to Windows 7 and Oracle 11gr2 some time next year. Other parts of the company use PowerDesigner and that is one alternative; we're hoping Oracle Designer will continue to work but we want to be proactive and we'd also like to look at the SQL Developer Data Modeler 3.0 as another option. I can show people here some of the features, but a clean import of the Designer data would be a huge plus as we have 3,000 + database objects. If this is something that is slated to be corrected reasonable short-term, I'll just wait to give any demonstrations and push the product further until that functionality is available. Alternatively, if this is not available any time soon, I can try to demonstrate some of the functionality with a "build from scratch" modeling exercise.
Thanks,
Ian -

Could someone send me the standard price list for Headstart?
Doina,
The listprice for Headstart Oracle Designer 2.1.2 is USD 1495 per developer. We use the rule that the number of licenses should equal the number of Oracle Designer license.
Patches, like the Headstart for Oracle Designer 6.0 patch and extra options like CDM RuleFrame and the CDM Standards options are free and can be downloaded from OTN.
If you have more questions please let me know.

User name & password for oracle designer 2000
Hi,
I have downloaded the oracle designer 2000 from oracle . I need user name & password to enter the screen. If anyone knows pl. help meThe username and password you are looking for is that of the Database you are connecting to. I.e. where you have installed the designer repository.
If you have not installed the repository, follow the instruction to create the oracle user (repository owner), install the designer repository and use it to login.
The best thing will be to download the documentation the way you downloaded the software. It is important -
Problem logging into Oracle Designer 10G
Hello developers,
I've downloaded and installed Oracle Designer 10G on my computer. I've installed it using the installation wizard. I wanted to login. I have my username and password but not the connect string. I don't know what my connect string is now.
During the installation, I've encountered such a message:
Oracle Designer and Oracle8i client import and export tools need to be installed into different Oracle homes. You can use the LOCAL and TNS_ADMIN registry variables(set under both Oracle Homes in the registry) to save having to maintain multiple copies of your TNSNAMES.ORA file. Please enter any information you wish to be set and click OK to continue."
So under this message, a default entry of "C:\orant\net80\admin" appears whilst for field Local, I've entered "orahome" which I assume to be my database alias.
Later on, I found out about 10G so I removed the copy of 6i I've installed using Universal Installer and proceeded to download and install 10G. Now the error message Im getting when I tried to login without giving a connect string is that "The user does not have an installed Repository. Invoke the Repository Administrator Utility. " So from the start menu, I choose Repository Administration Utility but nothing happened.
Could anyone that have experience with this installation let me know what should I do? Im really looking forward to using 10G Designer. If this is not solved, then I'll resort back to using 6i. Maybe from there things are easier. Thanks in advance. After some heavy googling the problem is solved.

(sorry voor my bad englisch)Harm -
Designer is asking for a username, password, and connect string because you need to connect to a database. If you haven't installed a database, the installation guide is here:
http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle9i/doc_library/release2/A95493-01/html/toc.htm
Start with that. Then you can use the following forum for Oracle9i Designer questions:

Hope this helps,
