"Downloading packages" during installation ... extremely slow!
I'm on the step where Arch downloads packages from a server. I chose a Swedish server since I'm in Norway.
It takes forever, and it only downloads at a speed of 2-5 kb/s. Can I quit the installation and start over?
Also, I chose XFS for my primary Linux partition ( or / ). Is it good or should I choose something else?

There is one on mine too, but if I pick the Norwegian layout, it doesn't produce that symbol.

Aah.. so you have a US keyboard and are using the Norwegian layout. You can either go back to US layout until you finish installation I guess... I am not sure where the > sign key is in a norwegian layout.
I chose the US layout this time. I just have to wait overnight for packages to download.

Can't download packages during install
I'm using an Arch 0.7RC disk to install. I'm attempting to install the base packages during install from numerous mirrors and getting an error stating that one or more packages could not be downloaded.
Should I burn a newer 0.7 final ISO? I figureed I could just use this one and download newer packages with pacman.Hi trey.
Is networking set up? You may need to install a NIC driver, configure the network, and then start the network before you can run pacman or download from external sources.
You might find it easier to install the 'base' packages first. Next set up your network connection. And then update/upgrade the packages.
You'll need to include your NIC driver name in the 'MODULES' array in /etc/rc.conf. You'll also need to specify the ethernet interfaces. Then you can run:
/etc/rc.d/network start
and, if this works, you should be able to run pacman.

i have had itunes downloaded on my computer before but the computer had to be repaired becuase it had viruses and now i cant reinstall itunes. whenever i try to install it again something pops up that says a fatal error has occured or something like that. does anyone know how this can be fixed?
the older version of bonjour could not be removed
Let's see if we can make some progress with that one first.
(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
Downloading Drivers during OSD very slow SCCM 2012R2
Hey,
Lately I started experiencing a slow download speed in OSD. I managed to fix the slowness for the wim download with KB2905002 hotfix,
but downloading drivers is still very slow.
Any Ideas or suggestions ??Is it possible that you're actually getting the PXE response from a DP elsewhere? Have you reviewed the smspxe.log file on your expected DP and seen the session with your test workstation?
PXE has nothing to do with driver delivery. Drivers come from a DP using the normal content distribution process just like everything else in the TS. The only thing delivered by PXE is the boot image.
Have you reviewed the IIS.log files on the DP where the driver files are being downloaded from? Have you tried temporarily enabling anonymous authentication on the DP?

Installation Extremely Slow - Hangs during Expanding Windows Files
I'm trying to get 7 to install and I'm having a bear of a time. It has taken a tremendously long time to cycle through the steps and after a little more than an hour, it was only at 6% of Expanding Windows Files.
I've taken a stick of RAM out bringing me down to 2gb, have tried three burns (one at the slowest speed and verified), neither has helped. Please help.
My system specs:
5400+ Black Edition (non-OCed)
Abit AN52 Motherboard (nForce 520)
OCZ PC-6400 4gb (2gb during install)
XfX Geforce 8800GT
Western Digital Raptor x2i was having the same problem on my system dell inspiron i try all the possible ways but still the same no any achievement after all the process i even give up and install xp but suddenly i try one process which is by using pendrive and it woks perfectly
here are the process of doing so
get a pendrie 4GB minimum
Step 1. Preparing USB drive
Open command prompt, from Start > run > cmd. If you are on vista or Windows 7, you might need to run it as elevated administrator. You can do this by creating shortcut to “cmd” on desktop then right click
> “Run as Administrator”.
Enter following commands -
> Diskpart
DISKPART> LIST DISK
Disk ### Status Size Free Dyn Gpt
Disk 0 Online 93 GB 13 MB
Disk 1 Online 8 GB 6 MB
Note down the number corresponding Disk number. 1 in my case
DISKPART> SELECT DISK 1
>CLEAN
>CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
>SELECT PARTITION 1 – This 1 remains same always.
>ACTIVE
>FORMAT FS=NTFS
>ASSIGN
>EXIT
Step 2. Copy Installed CD/DVD contents to USB drive
> xcopy e:\*.* /s/e/f f:\
where e:\ is your source DVD drive, f:\ is target USB drive
Step 3.Changing BIOS Settings
Reboot into BIOS. Change settings to Enable “Boot from USB”, and give it the highest precedence. Save settings and reboot, You would reboot into installation. -
Re-importing packages during installation
Hello all,
Was doing an installation. When it started, got the following errors:
Import Monitor jobs: running 1, waiting 110, completed 1, failed 0, total 112.
Import Monitor jobs: running 2, waiting 109, completed 1, failed 0, total 112.
Import Monitor jobs: running 3, waiting 108, completed 1, failed 0, total 112.
Loading of 'DOKCLU' import package: ERROR
Import Monitor jobs: running 1, waiting 108, completed 1, failed 2, total 112.
Loading of 'PCL4' import package: ERROR
Import Monitor jobs: running 1, waiting 108, completed 1, failed 2, total 112.
Loading of 'REPOSRC' import package: ERROR
Import Monitor jobs: running 0, waiting 108, completed 1, failed 3, total 112.
This seems to have failed on the first 3 packages: DOKCLU, PCL4 and REPOSRC. These were the first 3 packages that were to be imported. After that, all was fine. As of now, the last line in the import_monitor.java.log file is:
Loading of 'SAPDFACT' import package: OK
Import Monitor jobs: running 0, waiting 1, completed 108, failed 3, total 112.
So, 108 have been completed with no issue.
Only the first 3 failed.
How can one re-import these packages again.
TIAHello again,
When looking at the TSK files, it seems to specify that the files associated with several packages loaded OK.
15 Jul 1 10:01 REPOSRC.TSK
38 Jul 1 10:34 PCL2.TSK
28 Jul 1 10:43 DOKCLU.TSK
Example, for PCL2.TSK, got the following:
T PCL2 C ok
D PCL2 I ok
P PCL2~0 C ok
For DOKCLU.TSK, got the following:
T DOKCLU C ok
D DOKCLU I ok
and for REPOSRC.TSK, got the following:

Mailbox downloading and sending messages extremely slow
In the last couple weeks my IMAP account in my Mail app is really slow, takes minutes sometimes to download incoming mail without attachments, downloading below 1kb per second sometimes. Sending mail with average size pictures takes forever. If I check my Mail's Activity log, it has around 30 or 40 active logs fetching mail, 90% of the activity is all the same process, is this normal? If not how do I clear this log to let my computer breathe,
thanksMost of the time pictures cannot even send, not sure if there is a way to cancel these processes in the activity log, some mention just restarting mail but doesn't seem to work, Im guessing not for you either.

I have Windows 7 on a 64-bit operating system, and have Firefox 19 and Internet Explorer 8. I tried installing Flash Player 11.6.602.171 from the Adobe Website and got an error message right at 47% download "can not contact reliable source." I also tried uninstalling whatever Flash Player I had, but I continued to get the same error message at 47% "can not contact reliable source." Finally, following the advice found in the link below under "Program Bar Hangs During Download," I downloaded Flash Player ActiveX (internet explorer) and Flash Player Plug-In (all other browsers). It appeared that both downloads were successful and I verified that the installation was complete in the link below under "Verify that installation is complete." It says I have Flash Player 11.6.602.171. My issue now is that whenever I watch videos that use Flash Player, the downloading of videos is extremely slow. For example, a 45 second youtube video might take 30 minutes to watch. I have tried everything (from General Info, Download Issues, Installation Issues, Post-Installation Issues) in this Adobe installation problem page http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html but the problem has not improved. Can someone please help me? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
First, I went on this link under Progress Bar Hangs During Download
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#mai n-pars_header
and then I downloaded Flash Player directly by clicking the links provided Flash Player for ActiveX (IE) and then Flash Player Plug-In (All browsers). After my installations were complete, I tried watching any youtube videos or videos on www.ABC.com and the loading of videos was extremely slow. -
[SOLVED] where does pacman keep downloaded packages?
Stupid question, I know - but I seem to be having a tough time finding the docs or config that describes where pacman stores the downloaded packages during upgrades and installs.
Last edited by corey_s (2011-07-12 02:30:04)Right on, thanks guys. I had even looked in /etc/pacman.conf and somehow still missed it... sheesh.

Computer EXTREMELY slow after download
I have a Macbook Pro running Leopard. Last night I downloaded a large number of fonts (all free legal fonts, fyi ), although while it was downloading I was unsure of exactly how many I was downloading. When all was said and done it turned out there were about 30,000 fonts in the package. Although it was more than I was expecting, it was under a gig in file size so I didn't see any issues installing them. I installed all of them but last night had no issues. I turned off my computer when I went to sleep.
This morning I went to turn my computer on and found it to be EXTREMELY slow. It took 20 minutes for it to even turn on in the first place, it took 20 minutes to open the finder and its taken an hour for the library folder to open and I STILL can't get into it. Obviously the solution is to delete the fonts, but I can't do that if I can't get into the font folder.
Is there a way to delete things in "safe mode" or something? Because obviously I can't do it through the standard display.A suggestion: boot up from another OS that can read hfs+, then delete the offending fonts.
If you have a firewire HDD that has Mac OS X installed on it you can boot up from it by pressing "T" during bootup.
If you don't, try another OS. If I were you I would use Ubuntu, a linux OS. This will do absolutely no harm to your system at all, since it is booting from a live CD and is completely sandboxed. Go to http://ubuntu.com/ and download the live CD for free (700 MB) and burn it to a CD. Before you boot up from it you should disable journalling on your HDD, since Ubuntu can't write to journalled hfs+. You can do this from your Mac OS X install disc 1, which you boot up from (press "C" at startup to boot from CD), the Disk Utility application, selecting your drive and selecting "Disable Journalling" from the "File" menu.
Then reboot and boot from your Live CD. Say yes to everything until you get to the desktop. You don't have to install it (unless you want), just go to the "Places" button on the "menu bar" and select Macintosh HD, or whatever you named yours, navigate it normally and delete the files. Make sure to leave a few behind. Then restart by pressing the icon in the top right hand corner. This approach is completely harmless, and I have used it several times on my friends' Macs which needed access to files while the OS was down. After you have done all that you should enable journalling again
Hope this helps. -

Extremely slow download (8 kbps) and using "show local-host" to troubleshoot
I have a USB device that gets firmware updates from the manufacture, the download of the firmware is very fast at other sites and at home except 1 site. I found the following difference on the 2 ASAs (one where the download is fast the other where the download is very slow and cannot be completed) using "sh local-host" command. I think the ESP connection is the problem but I am not sure why its there - and I can see the byte count increment very slowly. What would cause this connection to use ESP?

Itunes: Fatal Error During Installation (it wont download at all) HELP!
Yesterday my iTunes (7.3.1) was working with no problems then the iTunes + Quicktime upgrade came up telling me to download the newer version but I didnt want to download it yet untill after i restarted my computer so I exited out of both the upgrade screen and iTunes then restarted the computer and when I tried to open up iTunes (after restarting), a little window came up saying:
+*Preparing to install...*+
Then after a minute or two it said: *+Please wait while Windows configures iTunes+*
Then another window pops up saying:
*+Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesMiniPlayer.Resources\fi.lproj\iTunesMiniPlayerLocalized.dll. +*
*+Verify that you have access to that directory.+*
and I have no idea what that means so i closed it then a pop up shows saying: *+Fatal Error During Installation.+*
so i deleted iTunes, Quicktime, iPod and everything i could (that my computer would let me) that had to do with Apple and restarted my computer then tried to download iTunes again but now when its reisntalling it says
*+Error writing to file:+* +*C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\disnoted.exe.*+
+*Verify that you have access to that directory.*+
Then after this i went to the folder
+*C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\disnoted.exe.*+
and made sure that Read Only wasn't checked but everytime i go to uncheck it and click Apply and OK it doesnt stay it just goes right back to being checked...because when u click OK the window goes away so i immediately opened it back up to see if changed but it was filled again
WHAT DO I DO?!?!? please can someone help me
The details for my computer are:
Microsoft Windows XP
Professional Version 2002
Service Pack 2if it helps at all...
I downloaded Quicktime seperately from iTunes and i got that with no problem and it worked just fine but i cant get iTunes at all
and i have follwed the instructions on the website about uninstalling everything but nothing seems to be working
...is there any possible way that anybody can help me out with this.
any help that anyone can offer is very greatly appreciated,
Please & Thank You. -
