Downloading photos into ipod

In the past, while traveling, I could easily download the photos I was taking into my ipod (5G video). Now when I attempt to transfer the photos the process stop abruptly and the files cannot be accessed on the ipod. I'm using the correct cables and connectors.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Downloading photos onto ipod

I am able to download photos into the ipod using a card reader and the apple connector for photos. However, when I attempt to download directly from my Nikon D70, in both Mass Storage and PTP mode the ipod tells me "no card inserted". The camera is on, and the compact flash card is inserted.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

    Steve,
I guess you need to reset your ipod.
After a reset it worked fine for me. I have a Canon EOS 350D.

  • Downloading photos to ipod

    Hi!
I don't have anymore the computer from which i downloaded music onto my ipod the first time. So now I have almost 800 songs in my ipod but only like 10 songs in my itunes library. I wanted to download photos from my new computer into my ipod too but when I tried to do it I noticed there's a note saying something like itunes will first copy the music again and then the pictures, so, does that mean that if I download the photos into my ipod my 800 songs will first be replaced with the 10 songs in my itunes library? There's also a note in the Ipod manual that says that every time you connect ipod to your computer your photos will be downloaded automatically. My ipod is set to update manually, so, does this mean that if i download photos into my ipod, it will start updating automatically my music too every time i connect it to my computer and therefore I'll lose my 800 songs?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Is it possible to copy photos into iPod-Touch(4Gen) from PC(Win7) ?

Is it possible to copy photos into iPod-Touch(4Gen) from PC(Win7) ?
    Thks.

No, you use iTunes on either a PC or a Mac as the Apple article says in the link I supplied in my previous post.

    Thk you for the reply.
I assume that the "syncing" you're talking about is an iPhoto/Mac feature.
Unfortunately, I'm working on a PC(Windows7), and I can't find any of this in my PC iTunes.
    Could you confirm ?
    Thks in advance

  • Downloading photos on ipod nano

I got ipod nano and want to download pics on it and in itune source there is no photo option.. Can anybody help me regarding this.

The photo tab isn't in the Source list, it's one of the preference tabs for the iPod. Connect your iPod and when it appears in the source list lick on it's icon, this will bring up the preference tabs in the main pane on the right. Look along the tabs and you'll see one for photos.
Here's a simple "How To" on downloading photos from a folder on your hard disk to an iPod:
1 Create a folder on your hard drive to hold the photos you want on your iPod. Call it iPod Photos for example
2 Drag the photos you want from your usual picture folder into the folder you just created
2 Open iTunes, select your iPod in the iTunes Source list.
3 Click the Photos tab and select “Synch photos from.”
4 Choose “Choose Folder” from the pop-up menu and select the iPod photos folder you created.
5 When you want to change what photos are on the iPod just add or remove the photos from the folder you have made and syncronise the the iPod
On a small device like the 2GB Nano I would tend to leave the "Include Full Resolution photos" box unchecked as these will take up a lot of space on the iPod and are only useful if you want to copy photos from one computer to another. iTunes will add "optimised", small TV quality versions of the photos to the iPod for you to view.
iTunes will add "optimised", small TV quality versions of the photos to the iPod for you to view. if you want to include full size photos so you can move them from one computer to another check the "Include Full Resolution photos" box. When you want to change the photos on the iPod you simply add or remove the photos you want from your iPod Photos folder and sync the iPod.

  • IPhoto downloaded photos into an event and now they don't show up. They were deleted off the camera under the assumption they were in my library now I don't have anything.  Does anyone have any useful advice?

I downloaded photos from my camera to iPhoto 11.  They were accepted as a new event.  I deleted off the camera disk.  Now, after going back into the events folder, the photos are not there. Does anyone have some useful advice? I've lost about 200+ photos...

You can recover the shots from the Card with an app like MediaRecover
    As for the Library:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • HT4736 Taking too long (2 minutes) to locate and download photos into Photo '11 9.5 (902.7 build running on an older Intel based MacBook Pro with iPhoto libraries on a USB2 External HD).  I checked and repaired HD permissions. Any ideas?

Regarding iPhoto '11 9.5 (902.7 build running on an older Intel based MacBook Pro with iPhoto libraries on a USB2 External HD).  I am dealing with iPhoto taking too long to download photos.  Specifically, I rechecked and repaired HD permissions. I am running the most current software my five year old Intel MacBook Pro can run.   What happens is that when I connect an external SD card, or my iPhone, the new version of iPhoto takes up to two full minutes to fully acknowledge the device. Then locate new photos and be ready to download them to my external HD.  I am kind of concerned about this.  This has never happened before.
I take 20,000 photos a year.  I really don't want to lose any.  Or is there something I am doing wrong?  Or need to be aware of?  Any experienced suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks.  Have a great day.
PS.... The cameras I use are Canon SX-30, Nikon D3100, and my iPhone 4S.  Thanks again for your assistance.

Hello Old Toad.... Those sound like great ideas.
I thought I checked and repaired disk permissions on my main boot HD.  That boot disk is Mac OS Extended (Journaled)  Capacity 749.3 GB.  Available 562.53 GB.   BUT.... now that I think of it.... the Seagate external HD with USB2 interface is: Mac OS Extended (Journaled), Capacity 639.79 GB, Available 36.2 GB with my latest iPhoto Library 517.37 GB that was already scanned & updated to be read by the latest iPhoto version.
I'll try your suggestions tonight as far as double checking 'permissions' and setting up a tiny test library.
Or maybe it's time to fill up another External HD?
I appreciate your and anyone else's suggestions to try.
Have a great day. ~~ David in Rochester NY

  • Download photos from ipod classic

Because of a glitch with the electricity, my separate harddrive reformatted itself to MS-Dos; so to reformat it back to Mac, I had to delete my iPhoto files.  While trying to back it up on my OTHER harddrive, a 'fault' appeared just as it was finishing up.  After clicking the OK button, I thought, well, the iPhoto that already was there would be practically fully backed up, one photo more or less would be no problem.  So I went ahead and reset my harddrive (the first one), not realizing that my iPhoto had entirely disappeared from my second, backup harddrive!  I still have a few of the pictures on my iPod classic.  The question is, can I upload them back from my iPod into a file on my computer?

Depending on your options when you synced the photos onto the iPod they may only be low resolution versions. Some of the tools listed in this user tip Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device may be able to extract them. If you included full resolution images I think they get stored in readable folders at the root of the iPod's drive.

  • A way to automatically transfer newly downloaded photos into iPhoto?

I download load a lot of random photos and it is a pain to download them to the hard drive and then import them into iphoto. Is there a way (possibly through automator) for me (when I download a new photo) to automatically import it into iPhoto?

It is a database - not a file manager
It is not fragile - few people who follow the rules ever have a problem - the prime rule is do not ever change the contents of the iPhoto database (iPhoto library) - except with iPhoto
Hardware or software failures can damage the database and therefore is it important to have backups - but then that is true of all computer files
Why use it - the power of the database - I can show you all photos that I took in Cortona Italy in a second - or all photos of my wife and grandson taken in 2006 - or of my granddaughter at a birthday party - of gather and export for a digital frame all photos of my mother -- etc, etc, etc
Plus it makes great keepsakes (I do books of vacations now that we keep on our coffee table and look through instead of photo albums that we never go back to)
And it creates and maintains web albums
It is a fun and very powerful program
There is nothing wrong with Picasa - lots of people use it - it just is nothing like iPhoto
Before you make a decision create a small (100 - 200 photos) iPhoto library and assign faces and places and keywords and play with it - you may find that you like it
As to duplicates - it make no duplicates - it does have two or three (if you have made any modifications) versions of a photo
iPhoto maintains your original photo unchanged - the digital negative - so you always have it available - it does make a small thumbnail for display and when you modify a photo it keeps one modified version - it uses non destructive editing so each edit goes back to the digital negative eliminating the progressive degradation of an image created by multiple edits in other programs.

  • Downloading photos to iPod Touch

I am unable to download a few pix from my mac to my iPod touch. I can download the whole library of photos, but I don't want to do that and I don't have the capacity either. When I put a few pix in my iPod cache, they don't show up in iTunes when I go to transfer them. What's up? Any thoughts?
    Thx,
    Bob

Put them in a folder in iphoto, then open itunes, plug in the ipod, click the photo tab, and select sync photos and select that folder.

  • Travel-downloading photos to ipod and from ipod to any computer for cd´s.

important! i own a 5th generation 30GB ipod video, i have been researching in great detail the use of my ipod as a mass storage device.
i´m currently in south america traveling and using my ipod to store photos. i have the ipod photo conecter and can confirm that it takes approximately 10 mins to download a 256MB sd card from my canon ixus 55 5MPixel camera. this only used approximately 1-3 to half of a fully charged ipod. im sure that it would be able to easily download a 512MB sd card through the same camera. (It seems also that the battery indicator is not visually acurate and still has significant power suply even when in the red zone)
previously i had a canon V3 3.2MPixel camera with a 128MB card this also downlowded but sometimes would stall. i´m sure that with a fully charged camera and a fully charged ipod this problem should not continue. i also reset my ipod before transfere and then ensure that the photo import funtion is acivated in the main menu.
So far the ipod has been a great product for the use of storage of data and the use of listening to music whilst traveling. to also be able to view the photos on teh road is also great.
ªªthe problem of slow transfere speed is due to the usb1.1 conection and not usb2.0 as indicated by other forum sites which have tested the speed in relation to other items. Also the drain on the battery is due to no other power source in the ipod photo conecter, it therefor pulls the power from the ipod.
An important question still remains, when traveling it is important to make back up cd´s of the taken photos incase of loss or theft of the ipod.
is it possible to plug the ipod using the usb conector to any computer with out itunes?(with windows?)
    if so...
Does this recognise the ipod as a seperate mass storage device on the computer and then would you be able to transfere all the photo files across to a cd?
if any one can please answer this important question it would be much appreciated. i hope the info provided can help anyone thankyou garv low.

Just to piggyback on to this: I've got a Powerbook using apple mail with my gmail account. It's set up as a POP account, leaving the mail on the server. It works fine.
I just got a Touch, and synched the Touch email to the Powerbook email settings, and that worked fine, except that it seems like the Touch downloaded the email from the server without leaving a copy. Or at least, it downloaded the emails, then deleted them by hand on the Touch, and when I looked on the server, they were gone. It seems like the Touch is acting as an IMAP, but I'm not sure.
So I guess I have three possible questions:
1.) How can I configure my Touch to look at recent emails without downloading them, or at least without deleting them on the server if I delete them on the Touch?
    or
2.) Do I need to change my Powerbook Mail set up to IMAP? or
3.) Is there something I need to change in my Gmail account settings?
Any help or referrals would be appreciated.

  • Problems downloading photos into iPhoto

Attached is an example of what is happening to about 10% of the photos I am downloading to iPhoto.  I tried 2 different camera and they bath had the same problem.  Any ideas?

The problem started when I noticed other problems with my hard drive.  I had the hard drive replaced and the problem still exists.  I am running OS X Yosemite , 10.10.2.  I photo version 9.6.  I am shooting raw.  When i first set up to download all the pictures look fine.  During the download process is when the problem shows up.  The first camera I noticed on was my Canon 7D.  I just bought the 7D MKii and it is doing the same thing.  Like I said, I have used different cards and cables but the problem still exists.
