  • I have set up our school ipads to be supervised by Apple Configurator and am using VPP to buy apps.  I now find the supervised ipads do not allow the pupils to download photos or movies etc. Any suggestions would be great please.

I have set up our school ipads to be supervised by Apple Configurator and am using VPP to buy apps. I did this initially as our school internet connection was stopping us from being able to update the IOS and our County was offering a managed system, Lightspeed, which took control of every device in school which proved very expensive.  I now find the supervised ipads do not allow the pupils to download photos or movies etc. As we frequently use the ipads as cameras this is causing us a problem. We have a school imac that I use to keep the devices updated with Apple Configurator (not connected to our network), and this doesn't seem to offer any solution to download them either.  I was told there was a setting in Apple Configurator to allow other computers to download from supervised devices, but I can't see it anywhere.  I am very new to this so any advice or help would be greatly appreciated please.

I assume you are wanting to take the photos and movies off the iPads?
Connect the iPad to a Apple computer. Open "Image Capture". Any photos or video can me imported to the desktop or other location on your computer.
I had this same problem last year and as we have no wifi I asked lots of people at Apple what I could do - no one provided this answer (a little unbelievable!). If you have wifi using something like dropbox would be an easier solution.
    Hope this helps

  • HT4736 Taking too long (2 minutes) to locate and download photos into Photo '11 9.5 (902.7 build running on an older Intel based MacBook Pro with iPhoto libraries on a USB2 External HD).  I checked and repaired HD permissions. Any ideas?

Regarding iPhoto '11 9.5 (902.7 build running on an older Intel based MacBook Pro with iPhoto libraries on a USB2 External HD).  I am dealing with iPhoto taking too long to download photos.  Specifically, I rechecked and repaired HD permissions. I am running the most current software my five year old Intel MacBook Pro can run.   What happens is that when I connect an external SD card, or my iPhone, the new version of iPhoto takes up to two full minutes to fully acknowledge the device. Then locate new photos and be ready to download them to my external HD.  I am kind of concerned about this.  This has never happened before.
I take 20,000 photos a year.  I really don't want to lose any.  Or is there something I am doing wrong?  Or need to be aware of?  Any experienced suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks.  Have a great day.
PS.... The cameras I use are Canon SX-30, Nikon D3100, and my iPhone 4S.  Thanks again for your assistance.

Hello Old Toad.... Those sound like great ideas.
I thought I checked and repaired disk permissions on my main boot HD.  That boot disk is Mac OS Extended (Journaled)  Capacity 749.3 GB.  Available 562.53 GB.   BUT.... now that I think of it.... the Seagate external HD with USB2 interface is: Mac OS Extended (Journaled), Capacity 639.79 GB, Available 36.2 GB with my latest iPhoto Library 517.37 GB that was already scanned & updated to be read by the latest iPhoto version.
I'll try your suggestions tonight as far as double checking 'permissions' and setting up a tiny test library.
Or maybe it's time to fill up another External HD?
I appreciate your and anyone else's suggestions to try.
Have a great day. ~~ David in Rochester NY

  • When I try and download photos from my camera, the system automatically launches Photo Viewer in Win 8.1.  This causes my Adobe Bridge to lock up.

I recently bought a new computer with Win 8.1 installed.  When I installed CS6 64 bit, the installation went seamlessly.  My problem is that when I try and download images from my camera, it automatically launches the Windows Photo software to download the photos.  I would like to use the Bridge to do this for several reasons.  If I turn off the Windows Photo program, it takes me back to Bridge but when I click on Download Photos, it causes Bridge to lock up.
If I click on download photos before I turn on my camera, it does not find the camera (as expected) but then I turn on the camera and reset list and Bridge finds the camera and I can download the photos.  Then if I try and download additional photos, Bridge locks up and I need to turn off the software and reboot the computer in order to get anything to download.
I have gone to the System Settings and changed the AutoPlay settings to automatically select Bridge when I download Pictures...I also selected Bridge for the Memory Card.  Under Devices, my camera is listed and that is set to "Import Photos and Videos"
    Any suggestions?

See my response to your other post.

  • I can't download photos and videos from my iphone

    Hi,
I have iPhone 4 with iOS 5. Can't download photos and videos from my iphone because my PC doesn't see it. Also my camera roll doesn't show right thumbnails and when i open a photo it shows it in low resolution. Only after i start editing it shows the photo itself in original resolution. iTunes recognises my phone but freezes on back up. When i updated my phone to ios 5 everything was wiped clear and i lost all of data that was in it. Please help me, i do not want to lose my data again.
I plugged it in to another pc (win7) but no files in DCIM.

appears to be one of the bugs associated with ios 5 that need to be worked out.  (i had a problem where I had music on my phone, the phone didn't recognize the music but the computer could find it)
While I don't know how to fix the immediate problem, I have a workaround that will get you past this if you are willing...
My suggestion is to turn on icloud and photostream on your iphone, and download and install the icloud control panel on your pc found here
    http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/pc.html
take a "picture" (quickly press the home button and lock button at the same time) of each picture on your device so they show up in your camera roll and will sync to your photostream cloud.  This will in turn cause your pc to download the photos from your photostream cloud via the icloud control panel.  Your photos will be on your computer, and you will never have to sync your phone to get photos off your iphone again.

  • In iOS8 not all my photos automatically downloading (Photo Streaming) to my PC

Only some of my Photos are downloading (Photo Streaming) from my iPhone6 to my PC?

You have a couple of options to get them in your photo stream:
    Open the photos one at a time and take a screenshot.  This will add a new low resolution copy of the photo to the camera roll, which will then upload to your photo stream;
    Email the photos a few at a time to yourself, then save the attached photos to your camera roll.  This will add a copy of the photo at full resolution to your camera roll and upload to photo stream;
Use an app like PhotoSync, which will allow you to wirelessly transfer copies of all your old photos to your computer all at once.  Then delete these photos from your camera roll and use PhotoSync to transfer them back from your computer to your camera roll.  These will be the original resolution and will upload to your photo stream.  (You need an app like this because iTunes will not transfer photos back to your camera roll, where they must be in order to add to your photo stream.)
Or, you can add them to a shared stream and invite yourself as a subscriber (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmc0cd7e99).  The shared stream will appear on your iPad and you can either leave things this way, or save them to the camera roll on your iPad and delete the shared stream.  They won't be in your photo stream but they will at least be on your iPad.

  • Cannot see downloaded photos in iPhoto library

I downloaded photos from my new camera into iPhoto. They are in the Library (can see them in package contents) but they do not appear in the library itself. How do I resolve this? Also the same situation with some downloads from earlier this year, with a different camera. (In was not able to use the migration manager for my new iMac as the HD died around the same time, so I brought photos in from a backup copy) Help would be appreciated!

    douglas:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do you see any indication of the photos in iPhoto, i.e. a thumbnail or blank thumbnail, etc.? Do you see a folder in the library package with Import in the folder name?
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Downloading photos on ipod nano

I got ipod nano and want to download pics on it and in itune source there is no photo option.. Can anybody help me regarding this.

The photo tab isn't in the Source list, it's one of the preference tabs for the iPod. Connect your iPod and when it appears in the source list lick on it's icon, this will bring up the preference tabs in the main pane on the right. Look along the tabs and you'll see one for photos.
Here's a simple "How To" on downloading photos from a folder on your hard disk to an iPod:
1 Create a folder on your hard drive to hold the photos you want on your iPod. Call it iPod Photos for example
2 Drag the photos you want from your usual picture folder into the folder you just created
2 Open iTunes, select your iPod in the iTunes Source list.
3 Click the Photos tab and select “Synch photos from.”
4 Choose “Choose Folder” from the pop-up menu and select the iPod photos folder you created.
5 When you want to change what photos are on the iPod just add or remove the photos from the folder you have made and syncronise the the iPod
On a small device like the 2GB Nano I would tend to leave the "Include Full Resolution photos" box unchecked as these will take up a lot of space on the iPod and are only useful if you want to copy photos from one computer to another. iTunes will add "optimised", small TV quality versions of the photos to the iPod for you to view.
iTunes will add "optimised", small TV quality versions of the photos to the iPod for you to view. if you want to include full size photos so you can move them from one computer to another check the "Include Full Resolution photos" box. When you want to change the photos on the iPod you simply add or remove the photos you want from your iPod Photos folder and sync the iPod.

  • On my i tunes page on my laptop, I don't see a tab for Photos in the drop down list in my library, so I can't download photos from my laptop.  What am I doing wrong?

On my drop down list in my library in i Tunes, I don't see a Photo tab.  How do I find that so I can download photos from my hard drive?

No, not on the File menu. Click on the Device that shows up when connected:
    Either:
If you do not use the Sidebar, when the iPod is connected to iTunes, you should see this icon appear to the left of the iTunes Store button:
Click on the ringed icon (but not on the "eject" part of it!).
    Or
If you use the Sidebar, you will see the Device appear, as shown below:
    Click on it.
Once you have clicked on the Device, you should see this (Summary) pane, with the word Summary darkened:
Click on Photos (as ringed above)...
Now you are on the Photos pane (notice Photos is now darkened), where there is a drop-down menu. It's that box that says "My Pictures", where you will find "Choose Folder". That option allows you to choose (as I did) "My Pictures".
Notice in the last screenshot that a message at the very top of the image states that the "iPod Sync is complete". Choosing the folder after the Sync has completed (or passed the "sync photos" section) simply means that it requires another Sync for that change to take effect.
    That's it.
Now, whatever pictures you place in the chosen folder will be added to your iPod at the following Sync. Likewise, any pictures you remove from that folder will be removed from the iPod at the following Sync.
You only need to look on the Photos pane if you wish to change the folder option.

  • Can't download photos from my Lumix

Can't download photos from my Lumix - I've done it before but now it either just doesn't stop "loading" - I'm using the SD memory card (it tells me there are 854 photos to download but it seems frozen ). When I connected my camera using a USB key iPhoto told me the files were unreadable.
I am using a Mac OS X Yosemite version 10.10.2, Memory 4 GB
There are videos on the camera, short ones from vacation, can it be not enough memory space? Too much to download at one time?

Use the card reader on the MBP with the SD card and upload to a folder on the Desktop first.  From the Desktop see if the files can be imported by iPhoto. If the card reader method works, reformat the memory card with the camera, take some test photos and videos and try again.

  • Downloading Photos from Phone

I took some pics with my phone and I would like to download them to my computer. This should be a very easy process.
So I hook up the phone to the laptop with a USB cord. To start, Verizon Cloud starts backing up all of my content from my laptop to the cloud, something completely uncalled for. It takes me a while to stop this. Then I finally find my pictures. I can see them but there is no option to download them. I read the help about "Retrieving Photos from your Handset". I do as stated, I have Mac OS X 10.6.8, but, even after reconnecting my phone, the download of pics does not start.
After half a hour, I have no idea how to get my pics from my phone and I am extremely annoyed that VZW is trying to push down our shove its new product to make us buy Cloud space. Let me add that I have found this new phone poorly designed along many other dimensions. This is just the last straw. Good job, really.

    Yep.
    Dropbox
It's a free app, cross platform so it works on Mac, Windows, android and IOS.
Download on your phone first, it will send email to your Mac to get the free download on the Mac.  It provides 5GB of free storage and will automatically download daily, over your home wifi.
You have access anytime to photos with your smartphone, computer and any other device you put Dropbox on.
I have been using it as the bridge and storage for my IOS, Mac and Android for over a year and have earned extra storage of 1.4 GB, total 6.4 GB
It can store more than photos and video.   Documents, contact lists, it syncs my passwords between IOS and android phone.
As. I mentioned it will auto download photo and video, you can choose to un-link, and do this on demand if you like.
Give it a try, hope you like it.

  • Downloading photos from Verizon Cloud

Is there a way to download photos all at once from Verizon Cloud? I have about 1400 photos I'd like to download to my computer (just upgraded my phone so I want to save them somewhere), and I can only see how to download them one by one. The solution in the FAQ (hold and click and it will let you pick multiple photos) doesn't work.

It is my understanding that you can successfully sync a handset with Verizon Cloud and regain photos stored in the cloud on your handset.  I will also add this comment - Verizon Cloud is a very new product and many useful features of its predecessor program, Backup Assistant Plus, have been removed in the current version of Verizon Cloud.  This is a huge disappointment to me, as I found out the hard way that all of my backed up photos(hundreds of them) must now be downloaded individually to my PC instead of via the method used in Backup Assistant Plus(a zip file of all photos could be created and downloaded in one file to my system).  I am waiting for a bit to see if Verizon won't reenable this functionality in Verizon Cloud so that I do not have to cancel my backup service with them as it is essentially useless the way it now stands.  Yes, it does afford a very limited backup but, to get photos back out of the cloud onto another device(short of syncing with the handset), involves an incredibly labor intensive process that would take me most of a few days to complete.  I will hope that someone in a position of authority at Verizon Cloud, involved in its product development, will oneday read these messages and make the product all that it can be.  Good luck to you!

  • Why if i download photos from pc   will  automatic off of that pcs

why if i download photos from pc   will  automatic off of that pcs

I am going to take a guess here at what you are asking. If you are wondering why when you try to download another album of photos from the PC to the iPad why the other photos are being erased, it's because you can only sync from one main photos folder at a time.
Place all of your photos into one main syncing album and sync that one album. You can create one level and sub folders and place those sub folders in the main syncing photos album and select those albums to syn, but you can sync from one main folder only by selecting that album in the Sync Photos From heading of the photos tab of iTunes.

  • Canon Rebel Xti/400D Will not download Photos

I have a canon Rebel XTi/400D . Up until recently I had no Problem downloading photos from the camera onto the MacBook. I recently downloaded an update OS 10.8.3  and can no longer download the photos .

    testdepth wrote:
Here is why my Canon camera died.  There was a loose piece I could hear rattling around inside the camera body so I disassembled the body in order to open the body and see what fell out.  When I opened the bottom of the body a small silver screw fell out of the body.  Apparently this happens to be a problem with this model and maybe others.  A screw from the motherboard backs itself out and rolls around inside the camera body shorting out the DC/DC power board and blowing the fuse labeled "P" on the power board. When I placed a meter across this fuse it reads infinity instead of a normal dead short.
How does a screw located inside of a camera body unscrew itself.  This is not a software issue or a failed electronics issue and this camera would still be working rihgt now if the screw had not backed out and shorted out my camera.  Canon's answer is of course that they no longer service this camera.
It sounds as though you have two options:
    1)  Admit that it's time for an upgrade and take advantage of Canon's "Loyalty Program" to get a new camera at a good price. The XTi was a pretty decent camera in its day (my wife and I each had one), but more recent Rebels are far better. My wife's current camera, a T2i, is a major improvement, and there have been several new models since.
    2)  Since you're obviously not a newbie, try to do the repair yourself. Look around for an XTi that still turns on, but has a cracked sensor, worn-out shutter, or other fatal flaw (such a camera should be available for a pittance), and re-use its power board. You have nothing to lose but a few hours of your time.
