Downloading photos to your ipad

How do you download photos to your ipad from either iphoto on my mac or from kodak photo gallery on my pc?
Steve

Is your iPad being recognised in iTunes ? Normally if you have photos on the iPad that were taken with it, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from email/websites etc, then it being recognised as a 'camera' allows you to copy those photos off (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083). If your iPad isn't appearing in iTunes then this article may help http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 . In terms of syncing photos to the iPad then there are instructions here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236

No. You can move them to computer and from there to the SD card or you can upload them to a Cloud service like Dropbox.

    Hey BJDaugh24,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, the iPad is not in iTunes for Windows. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

There are also WiFi transfer apps that will let you move the photos from the iPad to your computer. Do a search in the App Store for "Wifi Transfer Apps". Wireless Transfer app is the one that I have been using. There others available in the store as well.

No. Syncing albums from your computer to your iPad copies the photos to your iPad but leaves them on the computer.

  • HT4101 I have a NIKON COOLPIX P500 but am unable to download photos through the IPad camera connection kit. I have tried to use the Sandisk card also - no result. Any suggestions? The Ipad does not "see" the card or camera?

I have a Nikon Coolpix P500 but am unable to download photos from it to my iPad2 via the iPad Camera Connection kit. The iPad does not see either the Sandisk 8GB card or the Nikon camera. I have turned the camera on, but it seems that the camera just want to recharge its battery through the iPad as the iPad states that the devices draws too much power?? Anybodu solved this problem yet? Advise please?

One thing to check is the format that the camera is saving pics to the card in. Many are selectable and, in most cases, if PTP is one of the options then you need to have that one selected for the files to be visible to iOS and the CCK (connection kit).
Another thing which sometimes comes up, especially with older cameras and therefore probably not with yours, is the filenaming conventions used by the camera. iOS is quite strict about what it expects to see and if files are being stored with unsupported name formats then they simply won't be seen at all.

  • Download photos uploaded to iPad?

I saved photos on a memory card to my iPad as a backup so I could erase the card and keep using it. I'm now transferring those saved images to my laptop by saving to MobileMe, then downloading to the laptop. I'm finding, though, that the images are no longer in the original size. Were they not saved in the original size? Are the original files gone forever and all I'm left with are the smaller (optimized for iPad?) files?

Uh oh......You should not have erased the photos from your memory card because the size is indeed changed on download to iPad.  If you do not have the original files from your camera, there is likely nothing you can do at this point.

  • If you delete a photo on your iPad is it deleted in the cloud as well?

Where can I send photos from my ipad/iphone for storing and not have them deleted if I delete them at the source?

The camera roll photos are the originals, which are the ones that are imported to your computer as discussed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.  (Photo stream photos on your iOS devices have reduced resolution.)

  • Can we turn off the icon on the lock screen that opens and displays all the photos on your ipad

I finally noticed the little icon on the lock screen that you can puch and it immediately opens a slide shoew of all the phoes in your library.   I think this is a bit of a security issue -- I dont' wan people being able to look at my pictures wtithout authorizatino from me.   This supasses my permission and lets anyone look at them while the IPAD is still "locked"
Cn w turn off/disable this icon selection somehow?   I've notobeeen abe to find anything  yet.
    Help!

There is no security issue. If your iPad is protected by a passcode (which it should be if you don't want anyone to be able to look at stuff) you can turn the slideshow icon off.
