Downloading previously listened to podcasts?

This doesn't happen a lot but it does happen. I'll listen to a podcast on my PC that I downloaded via iTunes, delete it, and then days or weeks later something comes up that makes me want to revisit that podcast. Is there any way (in iTunes) to "re-download" a previously listened to podcast. Marking as New doesn't help.
Thanks.

Next to the PodCast name, there is an arrow. Click that and it'll take you into the iTunes store, PodCast episode directory. Select the PodCast episode that you want, and on the right, click Get Episode.
You're back in business.
I hope this answers the question for you.
Regards,
Scott

  • Cannot Download or Listen to Podcast on iPhone

I've just submitted a podcast to iTunes. http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/17th-day/id388900994 I am able to download, subscribe and listen to it through iTunes but my friends and I haven't been able to download it to our iPhones. Some have the iPhone 4 and we have the 3G. What to do?

Please always include the feed URL when you have a query. For the record, yours is at
    http://epulroch.podbean.com/feed/
The feed appears to be OK. Your single episode is at
    http://epulroch.podbean.com/mf/feed/ki2t7n/Pod.m4a
If you click this link you will see that it redirects to a much more complex one. Though this works in a browser it's possible that the iPhone doesn't like it. Generally redirects should be avoided if possible.
However probably more to the point is that this is a large file and is downloading extremely slowly. Both a browser and iTunes on subscribing say it will take 25 minutes to download. In a browser it takes at least a minute before it will start playing, and all this is on a fast broadband connection. I don't have an iPhone to check with, but I should imagine it might be even slower there. Possibly if you just left it alone for long enough it would work.
I don't know why it should be so slow, though it's a largish file at around 54MB - even so it shouldn't take anything like that long. Podbean doesn't normally cause this sort of problem. I suggest that you try downloading it in a browser so that you can see more clearly what is going on, and then if necessary approach Podbean and ask them what the problem is. I don't know whether Podbean hosts your media files or just picks them up from your own server - if the latter then obviously that is where the problem lies.

I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling iTunes and I have tried unsubscribing and resubscribing to the podcasts.
I don't have trouble getting NPR podcasts from the store. I just can't play them in iTunes.

For additional context and to verify if we are talking about the same behavior.  Here is what the download screen looks like on my iPod:

For those who enjoy listening to podcast but hate downloading them via your PC/MAC's iTunes, check this out as it is ipod Touch and Iphone browser-friendly:

It would certainly be great if there is a Podcast Widget

i found that web app earlier this week and was really excited to what it offers. I think a widget would be nice too but more i wish that NPR like did the same. How does the battery last if your using the web app to listen to the podcasts for?

How do you listen to podcasts that you have downloaded but isent you most recent podcast???

You can double-click unto the podcast line and you'll listen/watch it. If the podcast isn't downloaded yet, it will be downloaded from this time.
If you want to download again all the entries of a podcast (particularly useful when you have deleted some that you want to listen/watch again) : Open the little triangle at the lest of the podcast line with the alt key down. iTunes will show you all the entries for it from the first oine to the latest....

  • How to find and listen to podcast download over wifi while off wifi

Is this possible? If I download a podcast on my ipod touch (4.2) through the itunes app - the only way it seems I can play it is right there with the itunes app. It doesn't show up in the "Music" app. I would like to listen to my ipod downloaded podcasts while I don't have wifi - but the itunes store does not open without wifi.

You can either download or stream a podcast.
You cannot stream a podcast without wi-fi.
If you actually downloaded it, then it will be under music/podcasts.
This is covered in the manual:

  • How do I listen to Podcasts like I would a playlist?

Just recently switched from the PC world to the Mac world and hope I didn't run into my first "gotcha". I am trying to listen to my podcasts on my iPhone as if it were from a playlist but I can figure out how to make this happen.
Previously I would download my ~ 10 podcasts each day via iTunes. The Windows Media Player would automatically recognize the new files and load it into the library. I could easily find the files in the Windows Media Player library if I sorted all tracks by decending date order. Then I would move those files to a playlist and even sort them in an order of my choosing. Sync the playlist to my MP3 player and whala, I have my own radio show for my drive to/from work each day.
iTunes and the iPhone don't seem to want me be able to manage my podcasts that way. I can get over the lack of not being able to dictate the order in which I listen to podcasts. What frustrates me is I have to overtly select a new file to listen to after the last one is finished. I just want to press a couple of buttons then listen to my podcasts (preferably in an order I predetermined) for an hour or two.
Can anyone give me some suggestions on how to listen to a set of podcasts like I would a playlist?

I believe the default setting on Podcasts is Skip When Shuffling. So if you have Shuffle turned on, you have to return to the list each time one podcast ends to select another one to listen to. Check and see if you have shuffle turned on. If so, set it to off, or in iTunes Get Info on the podcasts and uncheck Skip When Shuffling.

How do I get it to just play through all the podcasts that I've downloaded just like my 1st gen?
Group and order your podcasts to a playlist. Then play them from the playlist.

  • Listened to podcasts not deleted during sync

    Hi All,
All of a sudden when I sync my iPod Touch to Tunes it no longer will properly sync listened to podcasts. They used to get synced to iTunes and marked as read. Now, they stay marked as unlistened in iTunes (blue dot) and get remarked on the iPod as unlistened to (blue dot) even though I have listened to the podcasts completely through to the end.
It almost appears as though the sync from the direction of iPod to iTunes has stopped functioning and I am only getting syncing in the direction of iTunes to iPod.
I have not changed any settings in iTunes. I have it set to sync unplayed episodes of selected podcasts which has always worked correctly for me in the past. My listened to podcasts used to be deleted from the iPod and only the unlistened/new podcasts would be synced to my iPod.
How do I correct this problem?
    Thanks for your help.
    Sue

I've seen and reported something like this as well. In my case, what I think I've figured out is that the "update podcast" function isn't happening UNLESS there is a new podcast episode downloaded for that subscription. I'm not seeing the heard/watched podcast getting remarked as unheard/unwatched on my iPod. If I go into the podcast list and ctrl-click and manually say "update podcast" it will delete the heard/watched episodes.
I never played much in the settings, but always have download all available and keep unheard podcasts selected. When this problem started I noticed a setting on each podcast regarding "auto delete" that I'd never noticed before. They seem to have been set randomly to "auto delete" or "don't auto delete", but again, I don't remember seeing or setting this before so it could have been something I did. I selected all the podcasts and set them to "auto delete".

  • ITunes no longer syncs partially listened-to podcasts with my iPod

Hey, everyone. Since I downloaded the new iTunes 11, I've run into a problem with the podcasts I listen to. I subscribe to a bunch of podcasts, many of which are quite lengthy. For that reason, I often can't listen to the whole podcast in a single day. However, with the new iTunes, if I sync up my iPod while partway through a podcast, the iPod loses the partially listen-to podcast. It's as if the software assumes that since I've listened to part of it, I don't want it to sync anymore.
This is, of course, not the case. Is there a setting somewhere that I can toggle to make iTunes give me ALL my podcasts, regardless of whether I've listened to part of them (or even all all of them)? In short, I want my podcasts folder in iTunes to match what's on my iPod, not have iTunes make guesses about what I'll want.
    Thanks for any help!

OK, figured this out and wanted to post the solution in case anyone else experiences this.
When you plug in your iPod, iTunes should start up automatically and sync. A button, "iPod," should appear at the top of the iTunes player, just below the search window. Click it (but not the eject symbol on it).
This brings up the iPod control settings. Along the top menu, there will be several submenu options: "Summary," "Music," "Movies," "TV Shows," "Podcasts," etc. Clock "Podcasts."
Here there will be a radio button next to "Sync Podcasts." Make sure that is checked. There is also a radio button next to "Automatically include..." Click that to on as well. Then, if you want iTunes to STOP deleting partially listened-to podcasts, make sure the options in the two drop-down menus say "all" and "all podcasts." Thus, you'll end up with: "Automatically include all episodes of all podcasts."
Hope this helps. The new iTunes is far from user-friendly.

  • Is it possible to restart a download from the amount downloaded previously?

Is it possible to restart a download from the amount downloaded previously?
When I download some lectures from iTunes U, sometimes the link breaks and the download gets interupted. Then when the download is resumed it starts from 0 KB and not from the KB amount that was downloaded when the download was interupted. Is there a way to resume the download from the point it was interrupted?

Well I'm using 9.0.3.1.5 and I STILL have this same problem.
Not sure if location is a factor, but I'm a US resident with a US iTunes account but I spend most of my time in Asia and I know a LOT of folks in India, UAE, etc with it. Everything else in iTunes works perfectly fine, except resuming non-purchased downloads.
On Apple Support I could only find a solution related to Purchased downloads, but not individual unsubscribed podcasts you clicked GET on or free iTunesU content. These still go back to zero with no option to resume only restart.
I mean, every quality download manager for your web browser gives you a consistent experience in resuming almost any download except very few servers on the Internet with specific policies to not allow resumes. If there is no solution just silence, either this is one of those mysterious come-and-go bugs that are hard to replicate or maybe iTunes is conserving bandwidth by discouraging resumes of free content it doesn't make money on. Especially 100MB+ files from folks in places with reliable but slower "3rd world" connections. So I would with a half bitten lip throw an answer your question as NO, it is not possible.
I do hope someone who thinks they have a solution steps in to say Yes, it would make a lot of people very happy.

  • I can not listen to podcasts on my ipod 4

I can not listen to podcasts from itunes on my ipod 4.  Is there anything I can do to get it to work?

If you have iOS 4.2.1 or later on the iPod and there was version compatible with that version, then you should be able to get a compatible version by:
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

  • Cannot download previously purchased music

I am trying to download previously purchased music, Darius Rucker True Believer album, to my iPhone 5. I've tried using my LTE connection and WiFi. When I click on the cloud icon, it spins for a few seconds then stops. If I try to stream the song it just goes to the next song that's actually on my iPhone. I get no error message or prompt to sign in with my credentials. Having the same issue with a few other songs. I've downloaded updates and podcasts today so I know my connection is working.
I am not using iTunes Match.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    OK.
Not sure what your question is.  The error message explains it pretty well.

  • How do I listen to Podcasts in order without playlist...

When I listen to podcasts on my iPod the podcast I selected plays, but when it ends it just repeats. How can I make it go to the next podcast in that podcast list? I have been creating playlists for a while now. But I have to add a new podcast every time I download one.
Is it just me? Does any one else experience this?

    Smart Playlists.

  • Does anyone know how to listen to podcasts in ios6?

It seems that listening to podcasts on the iPod Touch has changed. Apparently we can't access them directly online? Is that just a one-time error, or have things change a lot with ios6?

Did you download the Podcast app as specified in the iOS Users guide?
Download the free Podcasts app from the App Store, then browse, subscribe to, and play your
    favorite audio and video podcasts.
