Downloading purchased songs onto other computer

I have a laptop, and a desktop. They both have iTunes. And they both have this problem.
Ill purchase a song on one, then go to add it to the other one. But iTunes just tells me that all avaliable songs are downloaded. When they clearly aren't updated. They are in my purchase history

But iTunes just tells me that all avaliable songs are downloaded.
The single purchase only entitles you to a single download. Right-click the song you just purchased, choose Get Info, find its location, copy that file to the other computer's hard disk, and drag it into the open iTunes window.

  • Downloading purchased songs on other computer

New iTunes user here, so forgive me if this question has an embarrassingly easy answer!
If I've purchased and downloaded a song on one computer, as I understand, I'm allowed to play that song on any other computer that I've authorized. But how do I get that song from one computer to another? It seems that I just can't download it directly from iTunes again. Please help, thanks!

Find the song that you downloaded (probably My music> itunes > itunes music > 'artist' > 'Album')
copy it to a USB stick or something
plug in USB stick on new computer
ensure that in iTunes prefs, under 'advanced' that 'Copy files to iTunes library...' is ticked.
Drag file from usb stick directly to the music icon on the left hand side, or select 'file > add to library' from the menu
Ensure that your iTunes is authorised... attempting to play the file should prompt you for this
You can only authorise 5 iTunes instances at any one time
    Regards
    Paul

  • I downloaded a song onto my computer which has now broken, how do I access that song on another computer

I downloaded a song via itunes on my computer and now the hard drive has gone.  How do I find that song on my daughters computer.  We use the same account but her itunes has different songs on than mine.  I have the receipt to show I purchased so can I download it without purchasing it again.  It's not a song she wants but just need to get it onto a disk for our Nativity tomorrow.

  • How to download purchased music onto new computer (please)?

How can I get my purchased music back onto a new computer? Old one crashed, only had some of my music on the ipod. I've followed some posts to get the ipod music back to the computer, but I see songs in itunes purchase history that are not showing up anywhere (that I can see). Is there any way to get these back? I tried the option that iTunes lists for downloading purchased music, but these didn't seem to download. Can anyone help? I'm not real computer savvy so please explain it "for dummies." thanks

Apple's policy is clear: iTS purchases can be downloaded only once. It is your responsibility to make back-ups . (For most people, this will involve either CD's/DVD's or an external drive .)
That being said, at their discretion they have made one-time exceptions to this policy. You can ask for an exception by submitting the form on this page:

Good Luck! But whatever the response from Apple, remember:
Your music is valuable - please back it up!

  • Why can't I download purchased songs on new computer?

Okay so I'm having a slight issue. I just got a new MacBook Pro and I'm having issues. I am attempting to download my purchased songs. I am in iTunes and when I attempt to download it prompts me to enter my password. Upon doing this it starts to download then gives me an error message followed by prompting me once again to enter my password. I know this is not a wrong password for sure haha I've double and triple checked. I have tried restarting iTunes my computer an other restart based fixes. Just really unsure what is happening.

    Contact iTunes Support -> http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.
As I'm not sure why that would be happening...

  • Transferring purchased songs to other computer

It shows that songs were purchased in my history from another computer, but they are not in my playlist library. ALso how do I guarantee that all my purchased and downloaded songs stay in my itunes account when I deactivate a computer. Getting ready to get two new computers, but there will be a few days in between i will not even have the old two that shared my account...help!!

You need to copy them from the computer you purcahsed them with to the other computer. You can use CD/DVD, external hard drive, flash drive or network the computers.
ALso how do I guarantee that all my purchased and downloaded songs stay in my itunes account
Songs don't "stay" in your account. They stay on your computer and on your backup disks. If you get rid of your computers befefore you make a backup of your songs, you will lose your songs.

  • Download purchased content onto authorized computer

It would be nice if apple allowed its users to have access to their purchased content where ever they are. I mean if I can authorize 5 computers to use my purchased content then I should be able to download that content no matter where I am or what computer I'm on as long as it is authorized under my apple ID. But of course this is not the case, thanks apple. instead when I re-image a computer I have to make sure I have backed up my 50,000+ song library because If I lose any of those songs, well apple wont let me re-download them without going through a lot of hoopla. I guess the point of this ***** fest is, you know apple it would be nice if you make it a little easier for your users.

Well, the iTunes store terms are what they are, just like Amazon, Walmart, Rhapsody, Napster, etc - they only give you one download for purchased song files. I thought the streaming service suggestion was at least helpful, if you don't want to worry about backing up files.
We're all other iTunes users here, so if you want to suggest it to Apple, go ahead, but I doubt it will change.

  • HT1349 Trying to download my past purchased songs onto my computer and I phone from I tunes

Hello, I recently purchased a used I phone 3 , I have over 400 songs on I tunes I have purchased that I would like to download. It will not allow me to do so, I get a message saying in 90 days I can, but after I wait the 90 days it goes back to same message?

Check Settings > Store on the iPhone to see the Apple ID.  If it's not yours, tap and select sign out.  Then, sign in using your Apple ID.  You'll probably still have to wait 90 days.  Read this:  iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627
Why don't you connect the phone to iTunes and sync the songs to the phone?  Syncing music to iPod or iPhone, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1351

  • I try to download my purchased songs onto my computer but it says computer is not registered

    wont work

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

  • How do I re-download purchased music onto my computer?

I had to format my computer and I wanted to download the music I purchased on iTunes again... However, I can't seem to find a way to do that. Plz help!

If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on any of the links on this page you'll find a space at the bottom to email your query: iTMS Customer Service
If you have an iPod that still has the purchases on it the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

My daughter has used my computer to log into iTunes and download music but now it won't let me download recently purchased music from my iPad onto my computer. I want to transfer the recently purchased songs onto my iPod so how can I do this now? iTunes now says that I have to wait another 55 days! There must be a way to do this since I have paid for them.

In iTunes sign out of your daughters Apple ID and sign in with your own.
