Downloading songs on IPOD to ITUNES on PC

My laptop was recently stolen and I have lost my I-Tunes library.
Is there anyway to download all the songs on my Ipod Mini to my new I-Tunes library - or have I lost the songs forever . . . HELP!!

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using a lot of the utilities your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
iGadget Windows Only
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
TuneJack Windows Only
CopyPod Windows Only
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are comparatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • How do you download songs from IPOD to ITUNES on computer

I go overseas with work quite a bit. I have my own laptop and a 60 GIG 5th Gen IPOD. I would love to put the songs from the IPOD to ITUNES on the laptop. That way heaven forbid that anyhting should happen, at least I could re load the music back onto my IPOD

ok, its kind of long winded but hopefully this helps:
    1. go: My computer/<ipod>
    2. in here search for the work control (folder)
    3. this will be a transparent folder. right click and change the properties to not hidden and not read only
    4. drag it to your my music folder
    5. search in itunes for a folder, add my music
    6. this should update your music, but the names will be screwed up. remember to let itunes rearrange your music library using rip setting under 'preferences' - hope that helps

  • HT1363 DOWNLOAD SONGS FROM IPOD TO PC

How to transfer files to pc library?

If you purchased all of the songs through itunes store, please follow these steps:
    1. Open up Itunes and Click on Itunes Store
    2. Once you're in the Itunes Store look to right side of the screen and you should see the word "purchased". Click purchased and you'll be sent to a purchase screen.
    3. Click on "All Songs" and then it will show all the songs you've downloaded. From there you just hit the button that looks like a cloud with an arrow on it, and it will download all the songs all over again.
If you didn't purchase them through Itunes, then you'll have to download software that will strip the songs from your iPod onto your computer. And here is a guide about how to download songs from iPod to PC. Hope it helps.

  • How to download songs and movies from iTunes?  e top bar...

How to download songs and movies from iTunes?  The music and movie tab is not on the top bar at the iTunes store...

To use the iTunes Store in a country you need a credit card issued in that country, billed to an address in that country, and also be physically present in that country when using the store.  Basically all you have access to would be anything offered in South Africa unless you move to a different country.
It's the media owners who get to tell Apple where and where they cannot sell their media.  I'm sure Apple would be happy to take your money but  if the media companies are not happy then they can say no to sales in SA.
Even if there were a way to bypass this we certainly couldn't tell you on this forum because it would violate the Terms of use of this web site and get the whole topic removed.

  • Why are some of my songs not downloading to my ipod from iTunes?

I had downloaded all my albums from iTunes onto my iPod and then went a deleted the songs that I didn't like from the album. Later, I deleted all songs of my iPod Touch (4th Gen) and I was going to reload them all back on.
I went to drag different albums across and some albums it would add, others it wouldn't. The albums it did add only had the songs on that I didn't like (the ones that I deleted the first time)
I'm now not sure how to get the songs I want back on because when I drag a song over singley, it won't add to my iPod. I'm not to sure what to do and a little guidence would be great...

Do the non-syncing songs play in iTunes?

  • Wi-Fi iTunes Store via iPod touch will not download songs onto iPod

First off, my wi-fi is working generally. I can, for instance, access the internet and the iTunes store via my iPod touch.
However, after "purchasing" music via the wi-fi iTunes store, the iPod briefly displays the animation that the music has been purchased and is sent to the downloading que, but then quickly disappears from that que with no songs downloading at all.
I am signed in properly, I have tried reseting the iPod touch completely, but to no avail.
    Suggestions?

    Figured it out.
After registering my iPod Touch through iTunes, I did not attempt to download any music directly through iTunes onto my computer. All attempts were through the wi-fi store on my iPod Touch. So, I downloaded The Reminder, by Feist, through my computer and it worked just fine. However, prior to downloading I was put through some legal jargon/user agreement blah blah, that I had to "agree" to to continue. Once I did that, the downloading began. Subsequently I went into the wi-fi iTunes on my iPod Touch, and successfully downloaded a song.
I can only assume that the issue was that I had to first agree to the user agreement document through iTunes on my PC before I could actually download music through the wi-fi/touch version.
Let me know if this helps out.

  • Getting New Songs to Download Onto My iPod from iTunes

Ok, my computer crashed and I had to download iTunes onto my new one. On my old computer, whenever I added new cds into my iTunes library, all I had to do was plug my iPod into the computer and they would automatically download onto my iPod. On my new computer they aren't and I'm not sure how to get them on there. Any suggestions?

I plug in my iPod and nothing happens when it normally would update automatically. My friend told me to try pressing the "sync" button under the file menu but that doesnt do anything either. It says "Updating iPod. Do not diconnect" at the top, but it doesnt update anything. I had all my syuff set up on another computer that crashed. I installed iTunes on my new computer and nothing has been the same since. I was able to put all the music off my iPod into the iTunes library thanks to someone on this board. But any new cds or songs I buy won't transfer from the library onto the iPod. Its very frustrating. Basically, I plug in my iPod and NOTHING happens. Thats the problem.

Not a good idea at all to only have info in one place.
You could try , at your risk, purchasing a third party program that may extract info ( not supported by Apple).

  • Is there any way to upload songs from iPod to iTunes?

My old computer broke,so all of my songs from my old iTunes are gone. Is there any way that I could upload the songs from my iPod, to my iTunes? Is there any type of software I'd have to download, that could do this?

    Hi Bubblez,
There're lots of programs that can help you doing this. Transfer songs from yoou iPod and bought on iTunes Store is even easier, you just need to click "Transfer Purchases" on the left Source Panel.
Just read this [thread|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6189621&#6189621] and pay attention to the Zevoneer's post.
    Hope this helps!

  • How do I download songs to Ipod using 7.1????????

I downloaded the new 7.1 ITunes today, because Windows kept telling me I had a corrupt .exe file. NOWHERE under the FILE menu in ITUNES can I find a way to have ITunes download songs to my Ipod; can't find a download to Ipod option ANYWHERE under the other headers either! I clicked on preferences and according to Apple's website, there should be an icon for Ipod, where I can tell it to automatically download the songs to Ipod, or manually download. There is NO OPTION for that in my preferences! I also tried a drag and drop option and that won't work- I get a little cirle with a line through it.
    WHAT AM I MISSING?!
    Thanks!

      Windows XP

I did that...There is nothing there! The only way I can get the songs to download is by selecting them manually [the options for this displayed only AFTER I shut my computer down again!] and dropping and dragging [which it will now let me do, since the option appeared to manually download].
