Downloading the JDK (Help!)

I've been trying to download the JDK 1.3 product from the java home page. I have a Compaq Presario computer (Windows 98 o/s), and everytime I try to download (using the FTP option), it goes for a little while, then freezes the entire system. I wind up turning the machine off, then on, and when I try to download the product again, the same thing happens. I've tried this about 20 times, using different download options on the download page, but the system always freezes. Does anyone have any idea of why this is happening?

what platform/browser/service pack are you running? Have you tried downloading from different browsers? Do you get the same problem nomatter what kind of download you try (e.g. .zip, .exe....)? What directx version have you got? Is this the only case where your computer crashes?

I cannot download the JDK

I am unable to download the JDK 1.6 32-bit release #17. The sun download manager says "there is something wrong, contact support" and I am completely unable to download it and there is no message to help me otherwise. I also tried with Firefox and with Internet Exploder.

Yep, 6 months is a heck of a long time, but it has not been continuous! I have a second degree in maths to complete. Free time is rare and I have had so much bad advice from people who thought they knew what they were doing. I hope here to make up lost time and get the right advice which I need!

I am trying to download the JDK 1.3 from the url
www.java.sun.com. the actual file is 31.7MB but after
downloading upto 20.7MB the the process is getting
discontinued. The same is the case if I try to
download JDK 1.4.2_06( actual size is 51.5MB but am
able to get only 22MB. Can any body suggest the
reason for this problem and also a solution for this.

The JDK is a pretty hefty item to transfer around, I suggest you get an internet connection at home, and then download it there.

If you want it installed through web start, you have to use an extension installer (java-based JNLP installer of the JRE). You can write your own or use Sun's hosted installer. However, note that Sun does not seem to be updating the available JRE versions very often.

You specify the location of the JRE install using the href attribute. Here is an example of how to specify to install the JRE from Sun's site if it is not installed already.

Trouble downloading the jdk 1.50

After everything is done, a small box pops up & says file has been delete!!! Any tips

Hit the download buttom for the jdk, , it start the set up ,I answer all the Question ,the finish sheet appear I hit it , and then a small tiny box appears saying it has been delete.

Try Nokia Software updater, it sometimes works when Ovi Suite/PC Suite don't !

Cannot open itunes now I've downloaded the update - help please

I launched my itunes and had a message asking did I want to install the updated version. When it finished installing it said it needed to shutdown and restart - which I did. When I tried to reopen itunes from the shortcut it said it cannot open it coz some files are missing. Can anyone help please. I have contacted apple and although i've had my phone for over 90 days they have emailed me steps on how to uninstalled and reinstall safely. However, once I got the email, the first thing it tells me to do is to launch itunes which I can't do. can anyone help please? Many thanks.

Try the following
First of all, see if you can uninstall your current version of HP Support Assistant by using the Microsoft 'Fixit' on the following link - this is particularly useful in correcting issues that may prevent reinstallation on machines running a 64bit OS.

If this completes, restart the PC.
Next download and install the latest version of HP Support Assistant from the page on the link below - the download links are towards the bottom of the page.

About downloading the master collection cs6

i was starting to download the master collection CS6,
but i found that the adobe application manager is holding on when it is downloading the adobe help.
I tried to restart the computer and download the trial again,
but the problem still is ..
Is there an solution to solve it?

You're not telling us anything about your system... I'm also not quite clear what you mean about the help files. Since the download is a compound archive, that part never comes into play until you install any of the apps... Clarify and provide more info.

Why does the JDK come with a JRE and JDK?

I was wondering why when I download the JDK does it install a JRE and JDK. The JDK (I believe) includes all the JRE files as well as the compiler files. I can just as easily get rid of the JRE and as far as I know it wouldn't make a difference so why both?

I thought it was a 2-for-1 deal ;-)
Seriously, it doesn't make sense for me either. What
would make more sense
is for the JDK installation to install that separate
JRE, but to use that JRE instead of
installing a second one inside its folders.That would make much more sense, but I am guessing there is some intracacies that I'm not aware of or speed reason or something of the sort that would explain this. The first thing that comes to mind is knowing people might be copying the jre, someone might accidentally pull the jre out so they still wanted the sdk to work with the built in one. This is a pretty big stretch i know but there must be a reason somewhere.

Where to download the appropriate JDK for Windows 64 bits ?

i have donwloaded the latest version of SQL developr for x86-64 bits.
The JDK is not bundled with.
A link is provided for downloading it. I have downloaded Java SE 7. But sqldeveloper did not not like it he said something like, this is not a supported version of JDK something. Now when I try to run sqldevelopper I get a nice error message "Unable to start because MSVCR100.dll is not found".
What can i do now ?
if only I could download the "good" version of the JDK, but unfortunately on the site we see Java 6, or Java 7 but we do not see something like "JDK1.6.0_11".

Next time you do googling on "download jdk", look at the entire page of the first return item (From Oracle). Because the JDK 7 is the new version, JDK 6 is now located at the bottom of the page.

My iPhone 5 won't let me download certain apps. They show up on itunes but not on my phone, if I download the app from my computer it loads on my phone then immediately disappears. The 'FREE' button is white in the app store for certain apps. PLEASE HELP!

I'm so frustrated and in desperate need of help, I don't know what else to do! Certain apps such as Tumblr (I've previously had the Tumblr app on my phone) and Vine will NOT dowload on my phone. Oh my gosh I had the EXACT same problem, and for ages I couldn't figure out how to fix it until today. Here's what I did:
First I went onto my computer, opened itunes, and un-installed tumblr, vine and kik. These were the apps I was having problems with (it said I had them on my phone but, like you, they didn't show).
Then I went to the itunes store, searched for each one, and it said I could update them so I did (just FYI: for tumblr a window popped up saying "please click ok to confirm you are 17 years or older", so I did that also)
When I went back to my phone and tried installing them again (still on my computer), it worked!
