Downloading the latest iTunes?

Well, I've been using iTunes for a while, and i didn't want to take the time to update sometime around 9.0. It worked fine for my Shuffle, but now my brother has an iPhone 4. I tried to download the newest one, but for whatever reason, after downloading the iPhone would not recognize the new update. Nothing appeared to have changed, and I cannot open iTunes on any other user accounts. (It was downloaded onto a standard account, but now I'm on the administrator). I tried directly installing the new version, but an error occured: "Could not access network loaction %APPDATA%\." Does anyone know what might have happened, and how I can fix it?

You don't provide enough info to answer.
What computer model and what operating system?
What version of iTunes is currently installed?

Are all songs checked in your playlist?

  • Any ideas on why I can't download the latest itunes?

I am trying to download the latest iTunes (10.2.1) to my PC, but I'm running into all sorts of trouble. OS is Windows 7. When I first tried downloading it, I got the following message:
C:\Users\Jelli\Downloads\iTunes64Setup(1).exe.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.
Try again later, or contact the server administrator.
I tried it a few times, and I was finally able to download the default version, which I am pretty sure is the 32-bit. When I go to install, I get this message:
    C:\Users\Jelli\Downloads\iTunes64setup.exe is not a validWin32 application.
This iTunes installer is intended for 32-bit versions ofWindows. Please download and install the 64-bit iTunes installer instead.
So, I went and downloaded the 64-bit version, and when I went to install, got this error:
    C:\Users\Jelli\Downloads\iTunes64setup.exe is not a validWin32 application.
I can't understand what is going. I was able to download it onto my husband's computer a few days ago. I have never downloaded/installed iTunes on my computer before, nor have I had any problems downloading anything else.
I am fairly amateur when it comes to computers, but most of the time I can figure things out, and I can follow steps just fine. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If the OP has this much RAM in their iMac, certain this Mac can run Mountain Lion.
The reason it might not be installing is that 15 GBs of RAM.
Your iMac should have (4) equal sized, 4 GB sticks of RAM for a total of 16 GBs.l
If your iMac is only reporting that there is only 15 GBs of RAM, you have a RAM stick that is either not seated in its slot properly or is defective/going bad.
This maybe the reason that it won't download it.
Also could be you are running out of free space on your HD.
You need, at least 15-20 % or greater free space left on your HD.

I am trying to download the latest iTunes update; keep getting error message that says "The folder path 'My Documents' contains an invalid character".  This also happens when I try to uninstall iTunes.  HELP!

OK, never mind!  I saw another question on the right side that addressed the problem, and it worked perfectly!  Went to Major Geeks' page, downloaded the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, and was able to reinstall the updated version of iTunes!  This community is super!

  • TS1368 I downloaded the latest ITunes update, 10.6 I think. I can still sync my Ipod, but I can no longer access the Itunes Store.  No error message, it just keeps "accessing" but nothing shows up.  I've restarted my computer twice.

Ok... I just tried connecting my iPod directly to a USB port on the computer rather than via the USB hub I was using and everything is fine. Odd, but I'm happy now.
    Thanks,

You can use the latest iTunes (11.1.3) on 10.6.8 - if Software Update doesn't provide it (which it should) then you can download it from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

  • I just downloaded the latest itunes update 11.1 and now I get an error messages saying "The item 'iTunes.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly."

I just downloaded the latest itunes update 11.1 for windows 7 and now when I try to open itunes with the shortcut on my desktop I get this error message: "The item 'itunes.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly."  I can't open itunes at all.  Is there anything I can do or is there a problem with the new update?

    Start > Programs = Firefox
    Does that shortcut work?
If so, delete the current shortcut that is in the Quick Start tray and drag the one that is in Start > Programs down there.

    Good Morning jsacc38,
The resource below will help you with the issues you are having with the iTunes for Windows update on your PC:
If you can't install or update iTunes for Windows - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201668
Learn what to do if you can’t install or update iTunes on your Windows PC.
If you can’t install iTunes on your Windows PC, or if you see “error 7” or “error 2” after you install the software, follow the steps below in order.
If you see a different error when trying to launch iTunes, follow the steps in iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues.
Make sure that you're logged in to your computer as an administrator.
If you're not sure if you have an administrator account, read Windows 7: How do I log on as an administrator? You can also refer to your computer's help system, contact your IT department, or visit support.microsoft.com for assistance.
Install the latest Microsoft Windows updates.
To download the latest updates, visit the Microsoft Windows Update website. iTunes for Windows requires Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8, with the latest Service Pack installed. If you can’t install the updates, refer to your computer's help system, contact your IT department, or visit support.microsoft.com for assistance.
Visit the iTunes download page. Click Download Now to download the iTunes installer. When prompted, click Save (instead of Run).
Right click on iTunesSetup or iTunes64Setup (the installer you downloaded in step 3).
If you have Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: Choose "Run as administrator."
If you have Windows XP: Choose Open.
If you've previously installed iTunes, the installer will prompt you to repair the software.
After the repair is complete, restart your computer and try launching iTunes.
If iTunes fails to install or repair, it might be necessary to remove components left from a previous installation of iTunes and then reinstall.
Remove and reinstall iTunes and other software components for Windows XP.
Remove and reinstall iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8.
Songs you bought from the iTunes Store or imported from CDs are saved in your My Music folder by default. Deleting iTunes won’t delete your music.
    Disable conflicting software.
Some background processes can cause issues that prevent applications like iTunes from installing.
If you installed security software and are having issues installing iTunes for Windows, you might need to disable or uninstall security software to resolve the issues.
    Restart your computer.
After the restart, and adjusting the software running on your PC, install iTunes again.

If the steps in this article don't help you resolve the issue, you might be able to find a solution through a search of the Microsoft support website.

The iTunes application should be installed on the system drive. You may need to repair iTunes to fix that error regarding a missing .exe.
To organize your library properly see Make a split library portable.
If you don't have a working version of the library that can be transformed into a portable shape I have tools and techniques that can repair the broken links.

Can't download the latest iTunes. A window pops up... The update could not be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs.
Now, iTunes won't launch and can't be updated. Please help.
If I have lost my music collection I will be switching platforms ASAP. It is insane that Apple has updates seemingly every day for their products.

I was in your same situation with 14 downloads and 14 attempts.
You have to make sure that your Mac is booting into 64 bit mode.  You can make sure of this by going into System Preferences and scrolling down to 'Software' and making sure that you are booding with 64 bit Kexts.
If not, restart while holding the 6 and 4 keys down until you see the spinning gear wheel and try installng again.
BUT, what I also did was to go into Applications, click on the Lion installer, Get Info, and give yourself custom priviliges to Read And Write.
I did this simultaneously, and I don't know what function did it, but it worked for me, with no further downloads of the installer.
    Good luck!

I downloaded the latest iTunes version and now get the following error message: "This copy of iTunes is corrupted or is not installed correctly. Please re-install iTunes." Can anyone provide suggestions on what I should do next?

Let's try a repair install of iTunes first.
Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
Can you launch your iTunes now?
