Downloading the new iTunes
Hello, I have a question. I bought some songs on iTunes and I went to put them on my iPod and it said I need the latest version of iTunes and the new iPod software. When I go to download the new iTunes it says: Reinstall all program features installed by the previous set up.
And: Remove iTunes
You need to check one of them, I've checked the reinstall one and nothing happened. If I check the remove iTunes will I lose all my music?
No uninstalling Itunes shouldn't delete your files but to be safe I would copy them to a location outside of ITunes controlled folders. You can than install Itunes with add/remove programs in the control panel (in windows) and than download and install the latest Itunes and ipod updater. http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

I run both Mac and a PC and have iTunes on both, which has previously recognised my iPhone. I had updated my Mac with the new iTunes software with iCloud and updated my iPad2 just yesterday. Downloaded the new iTunes a few hours ago, and now after a few restarts, I get no response at all when clicking on itunes.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

I have downloaded the new iTunes 10.7 on my computer with windows vista on it. Now every time I try to run a video it shuts off iTunes. Is anyone else having this problem? I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program twice. Is there a fix? Is it possible I am missing part of the program?

A couple of questions.
(1) Do you currently have a copy of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package installed on that PC? If so, try downloading the following security update:

Does iTunes install for you after applying that update?
(2) If no joy there, head into your Windows Update and click on the Update History. Have a lot of Updates also been failing for you recently? If so, doubleclick on the entries for the failed updates to bring up more information on each. What error codes appear for you for the failed updates? (Precise spelling, please.) -

I have an iMac with a 10.4.11 operating system. When I click on iTunes Store, I no longer get the iTunes screen, instead, I get a new iTunes download screen.
I can't download the new iTunes without upgrading my operating system. Is there a way around this problem without buying the new operating system?

My iTunes won't let me connect my iPhone because it says I need an updated iTunes, but when I try to download the new iTunes, it says that my Mac software (10.5.8) is too old. However, there are no software updates available. What can I do?
It depends on what iPhone you have.
If it's an iPhone 4S or earlier, click here.
If it's an iPhone 5, you need to buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD, and that requires an Intel Mac with at least 1GB RAM.

I have a 3G iphone. I just tried to download the new itunes and lost all my itunes I had. I tried to transfer them from my computer but can't. How can I and what do I do to get the ones I bought before and now have lost.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod/iphone/ipad: File>Transfer Purchases -

You have already seen that you cannot load the new iTunes into your 10.5.8, so as Neil says, you need Snow Leopard (current cost £14). And you'll probably need to update the disc you buy via the combo update, though that is free.
As far as the new iTunes is concerned, there's been a certain amount of grumbling so you may want to study the forums before you update. The main problem has been with album artwork which does not transfer easily.
