Downloading to iTunes on my pc

Question

Okay, I already asked this question, and received an answer that should work, but apparently I included insufficient information, so this is an update.  And I'd put it with the original question, but every time I try to it tells me to login, and when I do the darn thing won't put me back to where I was.
My original question:
So, I'm on my laptop this morning, checking out my emails, and here are my BookBub bargains for Tuesday.  Normally there's a free book for Kindle, and I'll just click on it, tell Amazon I want to buy it with One Click, and it'll ask me which computer I want to download it to.  (And, BTW, if you like to read, sign up for BookBub.  And check out Project Gutenberg and librivox.org.  But forget the librivox app for iPad; it doesn't work.  Download from your desktop or laptop and sync it to iTunes.)
But this morning I found one for iTunes.  When I clicked on it, it determined that I have a PC, and told me I needed to download iTunes.  I have iTunes.  Do I have to go to iTunes to download it?  If I check out this email on my iPad and click on it, will it download to the right place?  (I've had problems trying to download things before that just kinda disappeared [that was a librivox book, and I was in Safari], presumably while still taking up space in memory.)

No if you already have iTunes you don't need to download it again to download any of the free offers from the iTunes Store. Depending on your browser you may need to install an extension in order for product links in your browser to automatically open iTunes, and then open the iTunes Store at the correct page. Alternatively you can open iTunes yourself, such promotions are normally visible from the front page of the iTunes Store.
Note that iBooks cannot be opened directly on your Windows PC but need the iBooks app on an iOS device or Mac computer.

Further information:
I'm using Mozilla WaterFox, current version (30.0).  I searched all addons and plugins, for iTunes, and mostly found stuff about downloading things from YouTube.
Yes, I do know that iBooks can't be opened directly on my PC, I plan to open it on my iPad.  But it'd still be nice to be able to click it in my email, on my PC, and then install it on the iPad only when I'm ready to read it.  And I still don't know whether it's safe to click it from the same email on my iPad.  And I shouldn't have to do something round about like going to the i'Tunes store to search for something that I know is there, which is why I'd rather click on the email link

Thank you very much.  I clicked on it on the iPad, read it (very short -- a children's book -- yeah, I know; I happen to like kid's books), and deleted it.  Now it'll show up in iTunes on the laptop, and I'll have to delete it there as well, but this is not really a problem.  I have a whole bunch of things I need to delete, both there and on my iPad, because they're taking up way too much space, and I'd rather add them one at a time as I'm ready for them (mostly audio books -- I got a whole bunch of them for free a while back, and iTunes found the whole lot and automatically imported them, of course).
Thanks for your help.  I'll be back, probably frequently, because I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing on the iPad, but I'm working on that.  (BTW, I notice that this time when I viewed your message and clicked on login, it left me on the same page after login -- don't know what the difference was there.)
