Downloading torrents site

i'm trying to download off a torrent site but i keep getting the Download Error msg: torrent cannot be opened because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences.
Now how exactly do i do that?

First select the torrent file and press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. In the Open With section select the default application from the drop down menu then click the Change All button.
Of course you will need a torrent download utility such as Azureus or BitTorrent in order to download the torrents.
Downloading software that are commercial products is illegal.

  • Not able to edit info on downloaded torrents

This never used to be a problem but recently whenever I download music from a torrent site itunes doesn't let me change any information on the tracks. Track or album title, artist name, etc. Everything is greyed out when I go to info. I have to make a copy of it, delete the original and then I'm able to edit it. It seems like this shouldn't be necessary. Anybody else have this problem?

You may need to pull your start and end points, to make some room so your type is not overflowing. Hard to exactly say without a screenshot to see what the problem is.
You will then need to select the path with the hollow selection tool, and assign a color to the stroke. The color you had before get changed to none by default when you put type on a path.

  • IMac will not connect to update server or download torrents

I am very new to iMac and having problems connecting to the internet....I am in a rural area using satellite connection. It will connect to the internet so I can view websites however every time I try to update iTunes it is telling me it can not connect to the update server?
Also having same issues when trying to download torrents...It is showing on transmission however it will not download...it just sits there doing nothing and not connecting to anything?? How do i fix this??

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Torrents unfortunately are primarily used for illegal trading of software and music. If you want to download legal software for the Mac, get it from places listed on my FAQ*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/macoxnative.html#NATIVE
They are also a back door to get spyware, and trojan horses on your machine. While very few exist for the Mac, they do exist, and Torrents and P2P software are the first line of attack, since they essentially establish your machine as a software download site on the internet. Sateliite internet does not have the bandwidth to handle torrents it regardless since the upstream is much slower than the downstream, and latency issues abound.

Downloading from torrent sites is not necessarily safe - some sites include additions to the things you download. The point is: when something is free which costs money elsewhere, it may not be safe.
Personally, I would delete the video and make sure my system is still working correctly.

  • Mountain Lion app not downloading, just sits in the dock 'waiting'.

    Hi everyone,
A few weeks ago I downloaded the mountain lion software from the app store. However, the download just sits in the dock 'waiting' and doesn't download at all. It eventually disapears from my dock and tells me that there has been an error. I have emailed and rang customer support, however, I get passed on to different departments with each staff member saying 'this isn't what our department should be dealing with'. I have been told that it is to do with my internet provider (BT), but when I took the iMac (2010) back to university where I have a different internet provider, it still didn't download! (My iMac has got all the requirements for Mountain Lion).
Any help will be much appreciated as I am really getting no where with customer support.
    Thanks!

Any help in this thread and the link posted by Zlig within it?

  • Download iWeb site from .mac

    Hello
I make most of my iWeb pages (ver 1.1) at home, but sometimes I am at my vacation home. I have iLife on both machines. Can I download the site I have made which is on .Mac to my second computer AND create new pages to be uploaded to .Mac? I have tried looking around for such a command but I can't find any. I realize that any pages I make on the second machine will have to be updated on my main machine.

    PTakeshige wrote:

No, because the published files on MobileMe (previously .Mac) cannot be opened in iWeb. Only iWeb's key Domain file can be opened in iWeb, so you can transfer that to another Mac as explained in these articles — the first also applies to iWeb '06...

Safai will not download a site I want. Why not?

You mean the Poker site? I assume that you can open the web site. However, I think that you are trying to download a .exe file - a Windows file that will not work on the iPad anyway. If you have another app that will "try" to open the app, Safari will go through the motions of downloading the file, but you can't use the file anyway.
You can download some types of files with other browsers, but that .exe file is not going to work on the iPad at all. Is that what you are trying to do?

  • How do I download my site to my new computer?

Scenario: a new computer, DW CS4, a new version to me.
I want to simply download my site from the web to my new computer, and have it all set up pretty much the way it was on my old computer.  Will the files download and create the correct folders or must I define the folders in advance?  I know this is easy but I need advice.
What I have done so far:  I went to Site>New>FTP & RDS Server and in there entered the info about the ftp connection.
It connected to the web and downloaded what is on the site.  I thought that was cool, but it is not what I want and now I am afraid to change anything.  Is it possible to start over?
I also set up a New Site, named it, entered the ftp info but now it won't connect to the server because it says it's in use and so I have to wait for its availability.  So I think I need to disengage the FTP & RDS Server but don't know how.
    Thanks in advance...

Do you have access to your old files on the old computer?  If so, save them to your new computer.  You then would set up a site definition pointing to the old files.
If you don't have them  (you should really have a backup :-)  you should be able to download them via ftp, either into a new folder that you create and then set up a site definition pointing to this folder, or download them to an already set up site defined location.
It seems you have tried this - but not sure what you mean when you say 'they are not the way you'd like them".  Can you explain a little more about the problem you have with the files you did download?

  • Very slow downloading wen sites

My iMac is taking from 15 seconds to 3 minutes to download web sites. There are also agonizing freeezes in switching from page to page within a web site (for example, Washingtonpost, nytimes,Google, news.yahoo) that last from about 12 seconds to over 2 minutes. Have spokesn twice to Apple technicians who have run all tests possible, including trashing browsers and reinstalling, but without a change. My internet server has been doublechecking all connections and so far found no problem. All iMac utility checks and Techtool tests find no problem, but these long varying delays persist. Any suggestions, PLEASE. This all started about three weeks ago. Using OSX 10.4.8.

    journalist-
BDaqua is probably right on track asking for ISP, modem information.
This is suspiciously similar to the symptoms exhibited with certain cable modems. All tests are "good" from the ISP side...and it isn't really an Apple issue (it's a modem issue).
I'm going to guess that you're comcast, with a motorola modem.
We have seen dozens of questions and situations like yours out here...I even saw it in person on my mother's comcast setup at her home. (NYTimes, especially.)
Replaced the modem, problems went away.

  • How to download a site in DW?

I'm very new to Dreamweaver. I need to take over a site and the adobe software. There is no copy of the site on the local network. I could use an FTP program to download the site to my hard drive and then proceed from there within DW. However, if DW already has some built in functionality for this, I may as well make use of it. Does DW have any functionality for downloading an exiting site? What is preferred method for situations like this?

Define your site by going to Site > New Site.
Tell DW where on your local hard you wish to keep your site files.
    C:\MySiteName
Under Servers, enter the FTP log-in credentials.
Root Directory is whatever your hosting provider told you to use.
Web URL is your site's domain name http://yoursite.com/
Hit Test button.  If for some reason you can't connect, hit More Options triangle.  See screenshot.
Once you're able to connect to the remote site,  go to DW's Files Panel (F8).
Use the Down arrow to GET files from remote server.  Use the Up arrow to PUT files from local folder to remote server.

  • How can I download my site from BC in muse. I had to remove Muse and download it again.

    Anyone?

    Hi
Unfortunately we cannot download the site from BC end, at current stage we cannot import sites to Muse.
We always recommend to save the file as backup, so if you have the muse file saved in your system or external source , you can re-publish.
else the workaround would be to use the assets and similar design and recreate the site or you can manage the site from BC end.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • Does leaving macbook air on all the time (while plugged in) to download torrents degrade battery life?

Does leaving macbook air on all the time (while plugged in) to download torrents degrade battery life?

You have a lot of things going on here...you are keeping the Air plugged in all the time, you should run on the battery periodically to give it some exercise, you are keeping it on all the time which may be keeping it under constant or near constant load, and you are doing all of that to download pirated content, for which you will get no help on here.

  • How I use aria2 to download torrent files

I was reading topics' titles, and then I saw this one:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=154476
At first, he wanted to use aria2, but then he switched to rtorrent. rtorrent is great, but It's not good for scripting, so I don't use it. aria2 is the best way to download torrent files, within command line. But how?
I use this script, because sometimes aria2 stops downloading, but doesn't exit! It's not a big deal when you're near the computer, but when you go somewhere else, you can't check if it's downloading. So I wrote this little script:
    #! /bin/bash
    if [ ! -x /usr/bin/aria2c ]; then
    echo "aria2c is not installed"
    exit 1
    fi
    if [ ! -d ~/.torrentdl ]; then
    mkdir ~/.torrentdl
    fi
    while :; do
    for i in $@; do
    MAGNET=false
    if [[ "$i" = magnet* ]]; then
    MAGNET=true
    elif [ ! -f "$i" ]; then
echo "The file ('$i') is not given or does not exist"
    exit 1
    fi
    if ! aria2c --hash-check-only=true "$i" &> /dev/null; then
    aria2c "$i"
    sleep 30m && kill -9 `pidof aria2c`
    else
    echo "Torrent is downloaded!"
    fi
    done
    done
Simply, it starts downloading and restarts it every 30 minutes.
There are some arguments that will help you with aria2:
    -S, --show-files[=true|false]:
Print file listing of ".torrent", ".meta4" and ".metalink" file and exit.  In case of ".torrent" file, additional information (infohash, piece length, etc) is also printed.
    --hash-check-only[=true|false]:
If true is given, after hash check using --check-integrity option, abort download whether or not download is complete.

Maybe this belongs in the wiki, specifically the "Useful Tips and Tricks" section.  It is not vital to usage of aria2, but I am sure there are others that might find this useful, and the wiki seems like a much more logical place to go searching for something like this.
