Downloading updates using Satellite broadband

I have recently moved "out bush" and now have to use a Activ8 satellite connection. When downloading updates I get a message that the digital signal is incorrect and may have been tampered with or corrupted since being signed by Apple. Whenever I return to the city I have no problem downloading updates using cable broadband. The satellite company were unable to assist. It would be great if anyone can suggest what the issue may be and a solution.

Does the satellite broadband service provider have a support website with user discussions such as these? Fellow users are generally much more helpful than tech support! Also have you done an internet search as well?

    I use satellite broadband because I live in a rural area where standard broadband service is not reliable hence the need to use a satellite system. I cannot get BBC i Player because I am told I am not in the UK likewise checking Lotto results I am informed I am outside the UK and cannot take part.   • Can't download updates using software update or from apple's site

    I just got my mac about a week ago. i am trying to download the updates using software update, but they only partially download. After awhile, I get an error message (-1001) that says to check the network connection and try again later. I have tried several times and I still get the same thing. Also, when i try to download the updates from Apple's site, they only partially download as well and then it says they "timed out". This is happening with all downloads i have attempted. The download speeds start out around 150 kb/s but then just start to drop and the download times out. I have to keep stopping and restarting the downloads to get them to finish which gets annoying when the file is large. Any suggestions???

    I am connected to the internet via a wireless network set up in my home. There are two other PCs connected to the network, one a desktop and the other a laptop. Neither have had any problems using or connecting to the internet. I have a DSL connection. I have tried to directly connect with the router with an ethernet cable, but the same thing happens.

    I had the same problem with some apps and printer setup software. SInce Rosetta has been discontinued on Lion my only solution was to restore to 10.6 since the manufacturers either have not yet or will not release updated apps. In this case you have to determine how important those old PPC apps are to keep around and if there alternitives that are available to replace the functionality. I would expect a broadband provider to update thier apps if it is something that is required to connect.

    It is possible to install the driver from Intel but you have to do this is device manager!
    You have to FORCE windows choosing the downloaded driver and this can be done using the advanced installation procedure. This helps to choose the driver from Intel and to finish the installation!

Internet Explorer 8.0 did the same thing. This was one of the reasons why I started using Firefox to download all images. I went into Tools>Options and it only lets me set another folder. I dont want to set a specific folder I want it to always go to the last folder used. So what gives?

    Thanks jscher 2000. I guess I didn't make it clear. "It restarts with all the addons activated, and resumes with the tabs that were open before closing it." IE, it's running fine now with all the extensions activated. Everything is OK now.
    So something in the Firefox code was causing the bad behavior. It's not essential that I find out what the problem was - I'm just curious. And if anybody else has this same problem, it might be nice to have it corrected at the source.

I tried deleting FireFox and reinstalling it multiple times, and a message pops up sometimes that says FireFox may not have installed correctly, so I follow the steps, but all the extra icons on my desktop don't go away. This has happened every time I have downloaded FireFox. The browser itself works, but I need to know how to get rid of these icons, but still be able to use FireFox. This is on a new computer, with Windows 7.

    Managed to solve this myself. Just went to properties > hidden.

    Apps are only tied to one account... You can set up two iTunes accounts on your computer, however, and let his iPad sync to his account. If he has never backed up his apps to a computer, however, he will have to redownload all the apps. Afterwards, he can backup to iCloud instead of your computer.

    My internet connection isn't the fastest at home so I downloaded the update file at my office using the following link :

    Any tips on how to proceed with doing the update using this file? I know you have to Option-Click the Update or Restore button, and then browse to the update file, but I was wondering if there is anything else I should do first.

    Thanks to both of you - I was running 4.2 on my iPad, and the download link at daw.apple.com for the 4.2.1 GM was taken down after it shipped - so I was bummed...

    I watched my Nokia Lumia 920 update three apps tonight. Two of the updates used the phone's cell network. One update used wifi. Is there a setting on that I can set to make the phone only use wifi to download updates?

    You must have a WiFi network ..
    .. but some users have posted a work-around as follows
    You may try this work around provided you have another (spare) Lumia ..
    1) Put your SIM in the spare device ...
    2) Activate "Internet sharing" on the second device.
    3) Connect the device that you want to update, to the hotspot created by the second device. Now, this device thinks it's connected via WiFi, but you're still using your own mobile data plan ...
    Try it (if possible) and post your results

    Hi Jen.  My daughter just compleated her nursing program and is now working as a full time nurse.  Focus and study hard and soon you will be there too.  Now to the problem at hand.  I have the same problem.  I gave up on it and satisfied myself with my iPod without the upgrade.  Reason being I've read so many posts of people having problems after the upgrade.  But I'm sure other factors are involved.  Nevertheless here is the fix most say works to solve the problem:  What ever virus protection you have installed on your computer, disable it.  Then try to install the update. After that enable the protection. I had Kaspersky, and it does it's job well. The thinking is, the virus protection is blocking the upgrade.  Hope this works.   Charlie

    If you update using iTunes, the full iOS is downloaded. If you update directly on your phone, this is called a "Delta" update, & only the changes to the iOS are downloaded. That's why you see the difference you see.
