Downloading videos to play on iPhone.

I know I can use Tooble to download YouTube videos to play on my iPhone, but is there a similar app I can use to do the same with Vimeo videos?

I have used cosmopod, a safari add-on, to download embedded web videos, though I haven't purchased the new version since updating to snow leopard...
Typically what I do is just to open said vimeo page in safari, then go to windows>Activity. This will open a list of all the elements of the web page that have loaded, and if you can pick the video file out of the list (look for the largest filesize) you can option + double click it to download it directly. This method isn't quite as user friendly as some 3rd party alternatives, for instance you'll have to wait until it finishes downloading to name the file, but it works and wont cost you anything.
edit: I forgot to mention, this method won't convert the file to the appropriate type to view on your iphone, it will just download it as-is. I use quicktime pro to export videos in the iphone format.

  • My video not playing on iphone but playing on ipod

    Hi,
Is there any reason why a mp4 converted video can't be played on iphone ?
It is playing fine on ipod.

Whoops! I must have cut off the link when I cut and pasted:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1531
Safari 5 is supposed to support HTML5 video. I did find this stuff though, which might be related:

Main things linked above say that you may have to tweak the link code for Safari 5 to use a full (not relative) URL. Not sure if this affects Safari 6. You may also have to make sure it's encoded as h.264

  • Converting powerpoint to video to play on iphone

how can i convert a powerpoint presentation with music to play on my iphone as a video?

Based on this link, PowerPoint includes an option to export a PP document as a QuickTime movie - you select "PowerPoint Movie" as the export option.
This alone probably won't export the video as iPod or iPhone compatible, but if you can import and play the exported movie in iTunes, you can use the iTunes create iPod or iPhone version. With the video selected in iTunes, at the iTunes menu bar go to Advanced and select Create iPod or iPhone Version.
Other than this option which is free, I believe there are some paid utilities that provide for this, but I can't recommend one.

    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

You're not doing what I told you to do in the last topic regarding this subject. I said to use a server side script to determine if iPhone then h.264 else .flv video. Also I told you that iPhone will not display the QTVR tours. Anyway, regarding your current setup: you already know why the 360 tour doesn't display on the iPhone. There's not a video file located at the referenced URL. http://www.ftworthfoundation.com/excel_Construction_Commercial.m4v
I haven't looked much at the code other than checking the referenced files since it wasn't my previous recommendation. Perhaps if you fixed the referenced file it may work. Worth a try.
Also... you have bad code on your site (for lack of a better term). Mixed cases in tags, etc. Check your HTML at http://validator.w3.org and fix any validation errors that you may have and I recommend maintaining lowercase in your html. For example: instead of <a hREF=" use <a href="

  • Trying to covert video for play on IPhone

i downloaded a couple of music videos, not from itunes. i can't drag it into my iphone for play without converting it, so i converted it. after i converted it and put it in my iphone, only video w/ no audio? how do i get the audio to work?
    thanks

I use VisualHub to convert videos for playback on the iPhone.
Another great app is CosmoPod. You can download and convert Flash videos (like from YouTube) on-the-fly. It formats them perfectly for the iPhone.

  • Help! Can't download video files from my iPhone 4S to my Mac. What to do?

iPhoto won't download my video files like it used to with my old iPhone. The problem isn't the size of the video file. Big, small, none of them get downloaded when I sync my phone. Does anyone have any suggestions?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Use your backup copy to put everything on the new computer.
The iphone is not a storage/backup device.  It simply mirrors the selected content of the computer to which it is synced.

  • What's the best quality way to download video taken on my iPhone 4s to iMovie?

Looks like my only options are to email, message or send to YouTube. I want these videos taken to be put in iMovie. I thinking the quality and size of the video file is decrease by emailing it to me.

    Another thought. Might this work?
    1. Backup my iPhone to my MacBook (instead of iCloud)
    2. Sync my iPhone with my new iTunes library (it would now be associated with the MacBook)
    3. Restore my iPhone from the backup in step 1 (would this re-associate my phone with the old computer, or would it stay with the MacBook?)
    4. Do the restore a second time (to put the apps back in their proper order/arrangement)
    5. Sync my iPhone with the music library on the MacBook
    6. Set up the iPhone to backup to iCloud again, as it was originally
I don't want to just try it and lose my data. Is this a viable option?

  • H.264 video wont play on iphone

I went to the Apple store this weekend to check out the phone. I went to some video on the internet that I knew was H.264 encoded (for instance the movie at http://www.soothingenvironments.com/pacificrhythmsvideo.html) but it would not play on the phone. It seems to be within spec (h.264 and below 1.5 mb/s). Does anyone know why this wouldnt play or if there is additional specific requirements for video for the phone?

Yeah I've had a few video podcasts from itunes and even some videos from apple.com not play. I think it has something to do with the scale of the video that has to be with in spec, so does the audio encoding.
Here is the video spec list from apple.com:
    Video
Video formats supported: H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 768 Kbps, 320 by 240 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

  • Where can i find DOWNLOADED video-podcasts on my iPhone?

After installing ios 5 on my iPhone 4, the "ipod" app is now called music. This also means that the video-podcasts are moved to the "iTunes" app, but it seems to be streaming only. This is really inconvenient since i cant watch them in places with bad reception like i used to.... Is there way around or is it because i have misunderstood something?

It should be here, But I did not find it

how can i download video using itune on iphone using wifi

Can you explain a little more what you are asking?

  • Hi. Downloaded iphone 6.0 and my video playlists in "Music" are now gone, but their names are still there. The videos are still in "Videos" and play from there 1 at a time manually.

Hi. Downloaded iphone 6.0 and my video playlists in "Music" are now gone, but their names are still there. The videos are still in "Videos" and play from there 1 at a time manually.  It gets weirder:
When looking at the empty screen with the name of my former playlist on top,  if I tap the edit button on the phone, tap the + button to add a 'song' to the playlist, and then tap 'Done' without adding anything, I can see all my videos in the playlist with the red minus symbol next to each of them. But as soon as I tap 'Done' again they all disappear!
I saw on another forum that someone has had the same problem but fixed it by, and I quote
"If you go to Get Info and change the Media Kind from Movie to Music Video under the Options tab, they all now appear in the playlists!"
I'm happy this worked for him, but when I tap "File" in itunes, the "Get info" field is greyed out, so I can't test the solution proposed.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Same problem on my ipad 2...but it works well on my iphone 4s.

  • TA44469 i have a video that plays on my iphone, but when downloaded to windows, only the audio plays and the video is black.  help,

i have an iphone 4s.  I can take a video and play it on the 4s just fine, i have always been able to down'load to my pc and view videos with no trouble.  But since mid-october 2012, when i download the video to my pc, and try to play it, same as always,  I am getting only audio and the video part is black.  I can hear everything happening, but no picture.  any thoughts?

Try updating to QuickTime 7.7.3. (That has helped a few people who were getting that when trying to play the videos with version 7.7.2.)
