Downloading vids to DVDs

Internal DVD player puked out early.  Bought an external drive from BB.  Works great.
Now I want to burn occasional short vid from computer to DVD.  I receive message that I have no disc in internal drive (I have one in external drive).  Computer doesn't seem to recognize external drive with DVD.  How do I get it to recognize DVD in external drive?

Hey pjmoriarity,
Making your own videos is fun! Can you please specify
which external DVD drive you purchased? Did it come with editing or burning
software?  Often times you just need to
specify or change the destination drive within the burning or editing software.
When you open up “My Computer” do you see the external drive there?  If not, you may need to reinstall the drive
software or drivers.  Are you burning
your own personal video or do you want to burn something from a video hosting
site?  Keep in mind that website videos
and other content online is usually copyrighted and not intended to burn,
especially since it is lower quality video.
Let us know how we can help.

  • Trying to download a family dvd to iMovie to edit.  I have video but no audio

I am trying to download a family dvd to iMovie to edit.  The DVD was originally done professionally but I want to attempt to fix some errors.  The format of the dvd is UDF (if that helps).  The video downloaded, but I have no audio.
    Insert DVD
    Open Disk Utility
Select disck and "New Image" and saved to desktop
    Opened iMovie
    Imported movie

Here is a way to do it that should work for you.

  • Can you download a music DVD to iTunes

I was just wondering can you download a music DVD to iTunes?

    (1) If you're talking about commercial, copyright-protected DVDs, you should be aware that it is illegal in many counties, possibly including yours.
    (2) If you're talking about commercial, copy-protected DVDs, you should be aware that providing advice on breaking copy protection schemes is illegal in the US, where this forum is based; posting such advice would break the forum's ToU, and hosting such advice would make Apple liable to prosecution.
    (3) If you're talking about DVDs which are not copy protected and whose copyright holder gave you the licence to copy them, then you may use Disk Utility. Once copied, you can play the content using DVD Player.
For common DVD, i think hanbrake can meet your needs.

  • Downloadable file on DVD menu?

My client would like to include his powerpoint presentation to be downloadable from the DVD menu of his video. Can this be done...or can I only put a link to a website that recipients can click on if viewing the DVD from their computer..where, in turn, the file coule be downloaded from.

It's possible, but to do so you need to use DVD@ccess or eDVD or Intellidisc.
With @ccess you simply use a button to go to a new menu and embed the url for the file into that menu. As your viewer arrives at the menu then the link is activated and if there is a viewer for the file it will launch over the top of your DVD player app and play back the show.
However, it is notoriously flaky on PCs - it may not even work at all... on Macs it is more reliable, but folks still find issues with it.
It's probably better to stick to using some text on a menu to let people know that the file is there for them to access manually.

  • Downloading To A Dvd

I have downloaded some TV shows to send my husband overseas but I cant seem to get them to download onto a dvd. Once I have waited for it to download the quality is awful, and will ONLY play in iTunes. How do I successfuly get them from my iTunes to a DVD?

You cannot burn a video purchased from the iTunes Store onto a DVD for viewing in a DVD player or such. You may burn to a DVD for backup only. iTunes videos/movies only play on an AppleTV, iPod/iPhone, or iTunes.

  • How do I download a home DVD video disk (-R) to iMovie where I can then edit?  I can download from a camera, but not from the disk.

How do I download a home DVD video disk (-R) to iMovie where I can then edit?  I can download from a camera, but not from the disk.

iPhoto pulls off new videos from my iPhone 5 just fine.  Does iPhoto automatically come up when you connect your iPhone?  If it does, you should see your iPhone under "Devices" in iPhoto and then can select the videos to transfer (select, then Import Selected), though that should happen automatically.

  • HT4095 how to download my own dvd movies to ipad

I want to convert or download my own dvd movies to my Ipad 2 but how to do it??

Sorry, but if you're referring to commercial and hence copy-protected video DVDs, breaking the copy protection, which would be necessary to copy the videos from the DVD and convert them, is illegal in the US (and other countries), so we're not allowed to discuss it here.   Some DVDs and Blu-Ray movies come with a "digital copy" that allows you to download a copy of the movie for use on computers and portable devices. You might see if any of the DVDs you have come with such a feature. Walmart/Vudu also has a service that basicially gives you a digital copy of a DVD you already own. See:
    http://www.vudu.com/disc_to_digital.html
If these are home movies that you or someone has burned to DVD and hence are not copy-protected, Handbrake (freeware) is one of the more popular converters. Once converted, you just drag the movie into the iTunes window on your computer and you can then sync it to your iPad.
    Regards.

  • DvD's with Handbrake..downloaded vids with....?

I no how to get dvd's on my ipod now but im curious how to get my other videos from my computer onto my ipod. What program do i need to use?

    Rj,
Yeah thanks for the link--I'm using handbrake no problem for DVD's but what I'm asking is for media already on my computer like avi, mpeg, files etc.
    Mike,
I have the lastest version 0.0.9, I guess the next step is to post on that link you provided. Thanks +'s are on the way.
BTW when using h.264 ffmpegx tells me that encoding is done after only 2-3 seconds!
And using mpeg4 it takes awhile but it fails to open by double clicking or dragging it to iTunes.
Anyone out there come across this problem and have successfully found a solution.

  • Problems downloading the new DVD Studio Pro update.

    Hi Everyone,
    I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem/message when trying to download the new DVDSP update?;
'You appear to have already downloaded the DVD Studio Pro update.'
This also happened on the last updates that were released.
There is a workaround that I know of that I had to use last time but it seems strange that this is occuring. Has anyone else had any issues with this update (or the last for that matter)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as Apple Tech would not help me because I am on a Volume Licence and the Apple Store that I purchased it through has not given me any help.
    Thanks
    Carlo

I can get around this problem by using software update to download the updates and then use the downloaded file to update the machines but I would really like the ability to download the updates as a standalone dmg file.
I am running 20 systems on an airport network that will freeze up if I do the updates online the best i can do is 3 at once to avoid serious lag.
Being able to download them seperately was always my first choice so i could update the machines regardless of being conected to the net or not. The workaround that I am using only downloads the package file and it seems there is the possibility of them being corrupted or damaged over time (moving from server to drives to media to computers etc).
I still want to know why it thinks I have downloaded them already, it doesn't make any sense.

  • Burning downloaded movie to DVD

Is it possible to burn a movie i have downloaded from itunes onto a DVD?

    http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/us/terms.html
"You shall not be entitled to burn video Products"
As provided you can backup the data to dvd, but it will not be viewable on a DVD player.

  • Burning Downloaded movie to DVD/ placing movie to ipod

    Hey
I have recently downloaded a movie off itunes and i am having a couple of issues with it.
    1. The movie won't go onto my ipod (it did once but never played- went back to menu)
    2. I would like to put the movie onto a dvd to play on my dvd player. I have tried various programs- they won't take MPEG-4 format- and i tried to burn it off itunes but only gave me the data dvd option and wouldn't play on any of the dvd players in my home.
If anyone has a solution to these issues that would be great!
    Thanks.

iTunes Movies are copy protected and can't be burnt to a DVD for playing in a regular DVD player. As you've already seen they can only be burnt to a Data DVD for backup/storage.
If you have problems with your download you can email iTunes Store Customer Services from this link. Choose a category that most closely describes your problem and add any additional information in the box provided: Customer Service - iTunes Store Support

  • Downloading files from DVD or hard drive cameras

Is it possible to download files from hard drive or dvd cameras to be used in Premiere without using the capture function which needs to be done in real time?

Importing files from a DVD camcorder or other MPEG device, or Ripping DVD files rarely results in success in Premiere... do not be fooled by movie industry advertising into thinking that "DVD Quality Video" is suitable for EDITING... it is not... a DVD is designed to be for PLAYBACK only... and that includes trying to edit a Standard Def MPEG file!
Go to my notes page http://www.pacifier.com/~jtsmith/ADOBE.HTM
Click the internal link for editing compressed files... read
There are other products better suited to your task... but if you only have DVD type files, you should convert to DV AVI
The only SD files that Premiere likes are DV AVI type 2
