I have tried many times to download XI. After downloading I got the message : Adobe has encounter a problem and needs to close. The documents I saved in my computer with version 9 are crushed. When I tried to download pdf document from my mail. I got the message: install the new version, because Adobe block me downloading.

Am running XP. Have uninstalled all Apple programs (QT, iTunes, update, bonjour, etc and in the order Apple recommends.) I re-installed QuickTime again.
Same Problem.
Went to the control panel and launched the quicktime control panel.
QuickTime Preferences comes up. If i choose the "files type" tab this error comes up in a window:
RUNDLL
An exception occurred while trying to run "C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\QuickTime.cpl",QuickTime"
Clicking on this just closes the window.
Some one on another post mentioned something about another codex takinhg the place of an original. How do I find if this is causing it if only to shut down that avenue of conceren?
This has taken up SOOO much time I can't tell you and I can't use my iPhone or iTouch until I get it sorted.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Good work, craigeed. That's enough information (of precisely the right type) to suggest that you don't have a codec pack issue. If you had a codec pack problem, usually you'd get a rundll error if you just tried to open the control panel (and you're getting further in than that). Also, the rundll error for a codec pack problem would indicate that your QuickTime.cpl is lurking in the wrong place (down in the \system32\ directory). Your message is showing that your QuickTime.cpl is in precisely the correct location.
So we'd better start checking on some other possibilities.
The "QuickTime has encountered an error" message is pretty generic, but on at least some versions of QuickTime 7.x it has suggested malware problems. So we'd better try getting that off the table.
Download fresh definitions and run vigorous virus and antispyware scans. If your security software providers offer them, try backing that up with an online virus scan. (That can sometimes pick up an infection even if the security software on the PC has been compromised.)
Do the scans show up any problems? If so, does fixing them help with the QuickTime error?

I did a search on this error code (c0000005) and there seems to be a workaround but no solutions, why is this? I ask that because this problem seems to be years and years old, going back to at least 2005 (do the math that is 10 years).
I don't even have the Camera hooked up and I get this error on download. I redownloaded everything and reinstalled. I finally found that it was missing a picture so the Catalog was "corrupted". I just deleted the picture and it started working.

this is the second time that itunes has displayed this message when i try to open it, but the first time i easily fixed it by downloading the quicktime standalone.
this time when i try to uninstall itunes an install shield message appears then quickly disappears and nothing else happens. when i try to download the quicktime standalone of the itunes website, a downloading box appears but there is no progress. this is incredibly aggravating. please help!

I am getting this error message every time I turn on the computer. I have the Airport Extreme wireless router. This has been occuring for the last 2-3 months. I have been to the support page and downloaded current versions and updates. I don't think I have a firewall ( I have AVG virus protection). That should update your mDNSResponder to version 2.0.5.0 ... with the newer Bonjour componentry in place, do you still get the error when switching on the PC?

I cannot find this 300GB "Backup" in the Finder, only in the Storage info when I check "About This Mac".
You are probably using Time Machine to backup your MacBook Pro, right? Then the additional 300 GB could be local Time Machine snapshots. Time Machine will write the hourly backups to the free space on your hard disk, if the backup drive is temporarily not connected. You do not see these local backups in the Finder, and MacOS will delete them, when you make a regular backup to Time Machine, or when you need the space for other data.

You have tested the library on the external drive, and so your photos are save there.
The local TimeMachine snapshot probably now contains a backup of the moved library. Try, if connecting your Time Machine drive will reduce the size of your local Time Machine snapshots.

Make sure there's enough free space on the startup disk to install software updates...
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
