Downloads are really slow
When I want to download some Podcasts (I have iTune 7.0.2 and I cannot switch to an older Version because of the new iPod Nano) with iTune, than these download are very slowly. But when I download the Podcasts dircetly from the server with an ordinary browser, than it is fast. (esa.int or Fraunhofer or 3sat,...)
With iTunes, it takes forever,
So I think it must be a problem with iTunes. So is there any solution to solve this really nasty problem.
PS:
Sync with iPod is very fast
Internet Connection is also very fast
Firewall ist not blocking iTunes
So iTunes itself od iStore ist the problem.
Please test.

I've been experiencing slow download speed on both Windows and my iPhone 5.
I've done a few things like reset my phone network settings, enabled iTunes through my Windows firewall, changed the DNS but none has actually worked out! I really need your help because I'm starting to get really ****** off with how Apple renders its services. On a side note, I've unlimited quota so the speed won't be throttled down. (A) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

My ipod 5th gen gave a error message to restore which i have done twice. Now the unit controls especially play/pause/stop seem really slow, as is it trying to get to the movies. Any ideas please.
Connect the iOS device to your computer and try to make a backup. Yo shld be able to make a backup if you previously syncing to this computer.

Then restore via iTunes. The iOS device will be erased. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode. -
Local refresh of upgraded Powerpivot report are really slow
Hi everybody,
My customer has just upgraded from Office 2010 to Office 2013 Pro.
They also upgraded their powerpivot reports.
When they refresh these reports from their local computer the data refresh are far slower than in 2010.
When they create brand new reports from Office 2013 Pro, the refresh is faster.
Their 2010 reports are really complex and we want to avoid to rewrite them.
Have you heard about such problems?
How can we fix this?

According to your description, you are experiencing the performance issue when refresh data in PowerPivot report after upgraded from Office 2010 to Office 2013 Pro, right?

ITunes downloads are painfully slow, and using the wrong servers
For the past few months, iTunes downloads (from a PC) have been unbearably slow, with single 60-minute TV shows taking 3-6 hours to download. Worse, Apple has decided that I live in the middle east, rather than Vermont. According to Task Manager, itunes is connecting to 204.2.196.136 to download files, and that server is located in Iran.
Before anyone asks, I am using my ISP's DNS provider, located in Vermont. So this has nothing to do with that useless Google DNS service. How do I forge iTunes to use the right providers in the United States?
For what it's worth, no other programs have this problem. Speedtest reports a healthy 10-12 Mb/s, Steam downloads huge files quickly, and Apple TV streaming is fine. As far as I can tell, only iTunes store downloads are affected (from any source, including my iPad 2.)In my case, I think it's a combination of my isp being incredibly slow (Optus in Melbourne) and iTunes apparently throttling the download speed. A couple of days ago, my download speed measured on speedtest.net was 0.2 Mbps!! After phoning Optus to complain, they reset the line and the speed bounced up to about 6 Mbps. So in that case it was definitely my isp. But now, even with the approx 6 Mbps download speed, my iTunes downloads are taking about 3 hours just to download one 40-something minute episode. When I do a traceroute (start, cmd, tracert itunes.apple.com, enter) the iTunes server is located in Boston, US and I'm in Ballarat, Victoria, Oz.

Downloads of Word docs, Powerpoints are painfully slow. I use Safari. Switching to Firefox, the application crashes. This is not a positive upgrade!!

For Safari, if you have any 3rd party plugins, they may not be compatible with SL.
Go here: ~/Library/Internet Plugins If there are any apps in that folder, send them to the Trash.
How much free space on the startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.
If you didn't repair disk permissions after installing SL, try that.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

Apple TV download is really slow

My Apple TV is slow in dowlnloading movies. This has been like this for the last 2 months. I use to be able to watch a movie almost instantaneously but now have to wait up to 1hr 30mins in most cases before I can start watching it. This occurs in both HD and SD although SD is a little quicker but is still really slow. Even then it pauses part way through to continue to download the movie. I have had my broadband connection speed checked and spoken to my broadband provider (Telstra Clear) with speed check achieving a download speed of 15mbps. I have Apple TV 2. Can anyone help before reverting back to DVDs from the video shop?The Apple TV itself is the bottleneck. The problem is not bandwidth.
My home theatre system uses Apple TV for most content. I also use a MacMini for the few DVDs I have and for EyeTV television recording.
Same as all the posts to this thread - performance slowed badly the last few months.
However, I notice that if I download rentals and purchased movies through iTunes on the MacMini, it works as the Apple TV did before. That is, start the download and wait a minute or so and then watch the movie end to end without interruption.
Also, iTunes allows me to cache the full movie if I give myself a few minutes prior to the time I want to watch something.
Not great. But it works.

Simple GLSL Shaders are really slow on MacBook Pro 13"
I have just get a new MacBook Pro 13 (i7 with Intel HD3000). I know that intel graphics card are not a beast but the performance I getting with simple glsl fragment shaders are really bad.
I have some video post processing shader in glsl in an application I have developed for mac. On my old MacBook Pro 15" (with nvidia 8600M) the performance was not perfect but I got 32-60 fps depending on the shaders.. with the new one I have 1-2 fps when shaders are on i.e. with a gaussian filter the perfomance drops to 8fps, with a little bit complex fragment shader performance drops to 1-2 fps.
My question is if is this a known problem due a driver implementation? or if is it the expected performance of the intel HD 3000 graphics card?
I really like MacOSX for work and develop but if this doesn't have a solution, I will have to return my mac and see other alternatives, It is impossible to develop any simple OpenGL application with this card .

Rafa.I have just tested the same application on the mac with windows 7. The performance is a little bit better with shaders but bad in general.
Performance on MacOSX:
Video only: 60 fps
Video+Shader: 2 fps
Performance on Windows:
Video only: 16 fps
Video+Shader: 14 fps
So my guess is that on macosx there is a driver issue with the card.

Download speed really slow on Macbook Pro
According to speed tests, my downloads are running around 1.06 up to 2.98. I've tried various things, but nothing is working. It is the same regardless both at home and at work.

All downloads are extremely slow and time out
Every file, video, attachment or anything I try to download from the internet start downloading and then slow right down to almost 0 kb/s and then usually all time out. Does anybody know why this is??
I dont believe so, the connections seem fine and using the internet is not slow at all

Mountain lion not downloading --or really slow
Hi, Ordered the download last night. My Mac Pro is using Lion 10.7.4, and is fully updated ---but the mountain lion download appears to be stuck (...still downloading this morning). Please advise. Thanks.
Then the next question is what kind of access do you have, DSL, cable, FiOS, or something else? The full ML download is almost 5 GB so young can have issues with a slow connection and a file that size...not knowing where you are, can you try an off-hours time for the US west coast?

Yosemite - Updates are REALLY SLOW
My MacBook Pro with Retina - Late 2013 with Yosemite needs 2 updates:
- the new security update released yesterday (1,4 MB)
- RAW compatibility update 6.0.2 (7,3 MB)
I started the updates 2h ago but they are still downloading...
My internet connection isn´t even slow.
I tried to restart the download but it remains at 80 KB...
The other one at 1,7 MB.
What can i do?Same issue. I'm still downloading some updates from Apple Store but throughput seems to be stuck around 10kb/s...

TV Downloads are extremely slow
Does anyone know a way of speeding up the download process. Itunes 7 is a lot slower than itunes 6 or maybe i'm just doing something wrong
It's not that iTunes 7 is slower, it's that all videos are now in 640x480 format (previously they were 320x240) so they're a lot bigger to download. The only way you're going to speed things up is to get a faster Internet connection, I'm afraid.

CS4 to Fireworks: Losing saturation & contrast
Any idea why? Pulling up the same image I processed in PS, loses a lot of impact when I view the same image in Fireworks. Subsequently working the image in FW and pulling it back up in PS is remains a duller, less saturated version of my PS creation.
