I can't delete them. I've tried unticking all the music that was on the ipod via itunes and re-syncing, which in theory should delete all music from my ipod. It does except for the 5 ghost songs.   So at present I have no music on ipod except the 5 ghost songs.   Has anyone got any ideas how I can get rid of these?

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

When downloading a file, only the first word of the attached file is included in the 'file name' field, not the entire file name, as it used to.

Regardless of filetype, only the first word of the file is filled into the "Enter name of file to save to..." dialog box. I'm set up to 'save file' in the FF Options > Applications tab for the basic MS and Adobe files. To successfully use/find the downloaded file, I type in the remainder of the file name. On iPad 3, all of my calendar items lasting more than one day do not appear correctly when looking at the monthly view of the calendar; only the first day of the appointment appears. For example, if I am taking a vacation for 4 days, only the first day of the vacation is marked on the calendar, instead of being listed on all 4 days. When I look at the weekly view, however, it is correct and is listed on all 4 days. The problem here of course is that at a glance, there is no way to look at my monthly schedule. On my iPhone, everything is correct, regardless of month or week view, so clearly this is an iPad problem I guess? Please advise on how this can be corrected. Thank you!

Unfortunately you can't do what you want. Many people have complained to Apple about this. I suggest you provide Apple feedback directly at http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html. They will not provide a direct response but hopefully if enough people provide feedback Apple will fix this.

Each time I tried the download failed with a message saying “Service “Apple Mobile Device” failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services” At this stage, the only way forward was to “abort” the download. This I have done now four times and the same thing happens. When I did finally manage to get an i-Tunes shortcut on my desktop, the program wouldn’t open saying: “i-Tunes was not installed correctly. Please re-install i-Tunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193)” Any ideas to resolve this?

I'm going to assume that you use only one Apple ID so the two things that I can think of are to quite all processes and restart all devices and then try to sync those apps again. Quit iTunes, restart your computer and the iPad and then try to sync the apps again.
The other thing would be to try to reset your iTunes account by signing in and out of the account on the iPad. Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap the ID and sign out. Restart the iPad and then sign in to your account and try again.

First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.

created an account just to piggyback on YardleyFFL, I have the exact same issue with my latest-generation IPad/Verizon data plan & having to press my luck with the exact same type of fixes as he's outlined above except in the DC metro area. *** is going on with that, had I known that I would be costing myself dearly in LTE connectivity I would've resisted the ios6 update.
Maybe this is the wrong place to vent but the IPad's cellular connectivity is one of those perks that make it worth for me to pay a premium for Apple products vis a vis other tablet competitors. For the first 5-6 months I've been really impressed with the speed of the LTE connection to the point I was tempted to upgrade from the iPhone 4s to the latest model just for that capability.
But now I'm extremely weary as the rug seems to have been yanked out from under me here, not that the LTE connection has become any slower when I have the signal, but it's now its impossible to establish the 4g LTE connection in many places where I had four bars before the software update. Would love any answers or recommendations - fairly new to iDevices so maybe it's some mistaken setting I'm using, if so please advise - but otherwise it's left a very bad taste in my mouth, & I commend and co-sign with the poster above for raising the issue.

As for VirusScan, Barney is right on the money that it does not come preinstalled on any Mac shipped new from Apple. However you have gotten it, your best bet is removing it. Skimming the templates in the Template Chooser shows you all of the pages available in the template once you open it. You can insert the one(s) you want, even more than one of any of them. Most users don't want or need all of the different pages, especially when they start the document.
