Downloads do not work correctly

When I download a file, i.e. a zip file a movie, or a torrent, it downloads the file with out the right name or extension. I can change the extension to open the file but it is a pain. For example when I tried to download a zip file it downloaded it as index.php.
Has anyone seen this issue, is there a fix?

I'll confirm this issue. My app will normally download a file through a link with mime recognized file extention. In this case XLS (excel). the download window appears but the extention is stripped off. You go to the file location - add back the xls extention and Excel opens the file. Its as if Safari is not recognizing the Windows settings for file types it does not personally know of... Does Safari hard code its 'own' list of mime extensions or is here something wrong with a call to the Windows global for 'File Type' settings??

Thanks for the reply but there is no option tab or wake for administration use in mountain lion 10.8.2, I only have the wake for network access which is on, I didnt used to have this problem before snow leopard now I have to manually re-login after computer wakes and then access remotely ........

First, iDVD is not and never has been part of OS X. If iDVD is not working correctly, then you should investigate possible problems with that application, support files, preferences, or cache.
Of course you can always reinstall OS X if you wish:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

System Update not working correctly

Hi forum,
System Update (Version 4.00.0024) is not working correctly on my T500 with Windows 7.
1: Not detecting old versions
SU is not detecting, that there is an old version of Access Connection (5.42) installed although there is a new version 5.50 avaliable. I had to do a manual update.
2: Not installing a suggested update
Each time I run SU, I get a suggested update for "Fix for Issue of HDD with HDP Detection for Windows Vista/7". After downloading there comes a meaningless message "package was not installed" (Paket wurde nicht installiert). No hint for any error.
3: Some drivers (e.g. for the ultranav) have not been downloaded at all - I had to test the functions of some hardware components and download the appropriate drivers manually in case of malfuncion.
Probably there is a solution known within the forum community, at least this should be a message to lenovo (I received no response from the help desk when reporting this finding).

Spry tab not working correctly after custom changes

Hi,
i have used Spry Widget for making tabs in Dreamweaver for one of my project. i have customize these tabs. every thing was working fine until i add the horizontal scrolling to tab by jquery. tabs are not working correctly they do not show the tab content. i am sure there is some linking issue. all this problem begin when i added a addition div within the spry div tags if i remove <div style="overflow: hidden;" class="sc_menu" > every thing start working fine but this div control the scrolling and its important to put there. please can any one guide me what i am doing wrong i have uploaded the project to my server. below is the zip file link to download.

Technical informations:
PC with Windows 7 64-bit, Lightroom 5.7.1 64-bit installed.
What I have done:
I downloaded the newest LR 5.71 and installed it again - mode repair; without success
I checked my PC with Norton 360: full scanning and optimizing registry
I restarted the PC and than I installed the LR 5.7 again - repair
Trouble 1:
Two days ago I could work with my LR 5 and to import pictures from a SD was no problem. Now I can start LR 5 and I can watch/modify pictures, but as soon as I try to import new pictures LR 5 stops and gives the message "your LR 5 64-bit does not work correctly - searching for solution". I have not changed anything in my computer since lasttime LR 5 worked properly, only the registry was optimized by Norton 360.
Trouble 2:
I live in Switzerland and my language ist German. I dit not find a place where I can present my problem in German, e.g. a phone number oder email-address oder german-chat. My English is to week for a discussion for computer problems and do understand it.
Help:
I would very appreciate if anybody can help me, either to trouble 1 or to trouble 2. Thanks.

10.9.2 Mail not working correctly

I'm the only person in the office to upgrade to 10.9.2 (thankfully!). Since then, Mail has not worked correctly. It is an IMAP account.
When I click on an existing message in my inbox, instead of displaying instantly it takes 3-4 seconds. The screen scrolls light grey, dark grey, light grey, dark grey then the message. I can live with this but it's very annoying.
But worse, I now cannot perform any mail searches to refer back to existing messages I have in any of my mailboxes. Search functions 'to, 'from' 'entire message', 'any' do not work. Even if the message or sender is in the inbox, it can’t find it. This is serious as I'm constantly using this function.

My wife is having the exact same problem all of a sudden with gmail on her MacBook Air. Also running 10.9.2. Everything is running perfectly on the iPhone, but on the Mac, no new email is downloading and the inbox is not syncing.

Need help iPhone 5 not working correctly

my iPhone 5 keeps pressing all the keys around the key I want it to press on the keyboard also problems using lock screen numbers have re-started and the phone just reverts to not working correctly
also when I got this phone I did it from a back up of my old iPhone 4 but not all the songs have fully downloaded (they are there, but cannot play) when I look on iTunes it says I have no songs that arn't on my iPhone that I've bought?
Should I take my phone back to my carrier which is 3? Or make an appointment at the Genius Bar?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).
Backups do not contain media, all the media should be in iTunes on your computer. Simply select the content desired to sync to the device and sync.

Canon MG3550 is not working correctly

I have recently bought Canon MG3550. I installed the driver etc but the printer is not working correctly. Sometimes it prints without any issues but other times it:
- does not pick the printer - saying it's offline even though it's not (this is from laptop, iPad, phone...not just from one device)
- does not print - the error message appears after a while saying that the printer is not responding
- prints half of the page...or just picks up a paper but doesn't print at all
I tried to de-install and re-install the driver etc. but it did not help. The printer is still behaving the same unpredictable way.
Do you have any ideas how to solve it? It is a faulty device or am I doing something wrong?

You need an app that will read, save and Word files on the iPad and if you don't have such an app, all that you can do is email the file and read it in the email. You will not be able to save or edit the files.
After you download one of this apps, you can use email, DropBox, and IOS file sharing in order to transfer the documents back and forth. You can use iCloud as described above with Pages or any other app that works with iCloud.

ITunes Home Sharring not working correctly.

My itunes homesharing is not working correctly. I have a Windows 8 computer and I am trying to share with my partners Widows 7 computer. Both computers are running the newest version of itunes 11 (downloaded yesterday). I sign in and turned on home sharring with the same user id and password. For the first 20-30 mins it worked perfectly, I could open her library and she could open mine and we could download songs from each other with no issue. We closed both computers and about 2 hours later turned them on to try again. Now my computer (Windows8) always shows up on hers but her computer only shows up about 1/2 the time for me, and half of that time if you click on her computer it says loading then stops and her computer has disapperard again. I can eventually get it to work after many turning off and on of home sharring but it take about 15-20min each time to get it working. Is this a problem others have seen? Does anyone know a solution?

This issue has now been completely resolved with the introduction of iTunes 9.2 Everything up and running again - thank you Apple! (Still an issue with Dictionary app/Wikipedia not functioning correctly, this has not been resolved)

My built in camera does not work correctly.
It does not have any kind of effect on and it captures pictures and videos as if some kind of thermal camera was on.
Also some videos I load up on youtube look like this.
I have been researching for an answer but can't find it, please help me.

All you can do is to test it with latest webcam driver.
Remove preinstalled camera software and install latest version offered on Toshiba download page.
If the same happen again visit nearest Toshiba service and show them how it looks like. Maybe the cam must be exchanged.
In the past I have used several Toshiba laptops with built in cam but I have never saw something lke this.
