Downloads Folder Help Please :(
Hi all,
A friend sent me a RAR file, i unpacked it and nothing appeared in the downloads folder where i unpacked it to ????
after doing this a couple of times as i thought it might be a blip, i deleted everything in the folder. but the folder states the size of it is 4.5gb for 0 items?
now i guess i have done somthing wrong, but for the life i dont know, please can someone help me. 4.5gb folder with 0 items??

Open up terminal and type
" sudo rm -rf downloads/ " provided you have nothing inside the downloads folder, not even empty folders
you will then have to hit enter, and then your password, and hit enter again
that will remove the downloads directory

FWIW, iWork as such is no longer available; it is now separate applications: Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.
Do you have the older (via install DVD) iWork 09 version installed? Then the new versions should show up in Updates (mac app store). -
Download folder changed, please help
I was screwing around with some terminal commands and I changed my downloads folder.
The bar with 'name', 'date added' etc has changed and I can't sort my files anymore.
I added a picture showing what it looks like now
Any of you know a command to revert it?Sometimes settings can get into a funny state and doing what you did, toggling the setting from what it is to something else and back again, will clear it.
Be careful with the terminal. In a sense you got off with a mild wake up. Most cases of 'I did something in the terminal and now I can't …' usually end with something like boot!

When I try to do a CC update I get an U44M1I210 error message, "Update failed - Unable to extract the downloaded files. Press retry to download again. (U44M1I210)" - help please - re-downloading makes no difference, applies to latest Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop CC, others seemed to update without problems. I can see the disk image files in AAMUpdater folder but they will not open and come up with "couldn't be opened - resource busy" message.
Yes Jeff, I did all those several times to no avail.
I've included a small error snippet from two installs here. In Creative Cloud when updating the Apps, all 3 get to 50%, then the failure occurs. Retrying starts at 50% and fails the same way each time.
This first one is a segment from the Indesign updater - I have always had the all hard drive folders with read and write privileges allowed and I checked again, this is still the case so I do not know why this particular error message is arising. The second snippet if from the Illustrator update.

VERY slow download, need help please!
Hello there, we recently moved house and have just had our internet and broadband activated, probobly 2-4 weeks ago, today i was downloading an update of my Xbox for a game, now bearing in mind i am directly connected through a wire to the homehub (BT HomeHub 3), it is a 2.07gb update, the first 75% went rather quickly(2-3 hours) i recently got home to find it was on 77%, this was an hour later, and 2 hours have passed now and it has only just reached 78%, which of my calculations are correct is less than 0.3KBS, which would put the completeion time around next week, i have tried unplugging the cable and restarting the HomeHub and nothing has worked(also whenever i do this the download skips back to 44% and spend 20 minutes befor jumping to 56% and then 40 mins befor going back to 78%. If anyone could help me i would be most gracious.

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) BT Speedtester and post the results .
are you connected directly to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

My itunes keep saying The folder “iTunes” cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the “Music” folder.iTunes needs a library to continue. On Mac 10.5.8 download Failed help please.
Hi all,
I'm on a Mac pro here, v10.5.8. I try downloading something (on safari) and it says verification failed. I checked an i-mac upstairs and the same thing.
I was able to receive the download via a zip file someone sent. (this was a couple weeks ago).
These downloads have updates which I'm trying to get. But again, I'm getting verification failed. I installed Firefox and tryed it that way, It fails and says codec overrun, failed to mount.
I have not had any download problems in the past, both with dsl or now fios except for this one.
I did alittle research and see suggestions like resetting spi or router firewalls??? How do I do that, I believe I have the Router M1424WR.
I do believe this may be my issue. Others seem to get these downloads, but I can't on my two macs which come from this one router.

Richthere is a slight chance that it's a config on the pc's that are common, as odd as it sounds. Try the apple broadband tuner and let me know if it helps. there was a recent problem like this for a couple mac users

Random Downloads! help please!
Okay so I reset my Safari, mostly in an effort to see if that would help it run better so pretty much completely (as far as I can tell) unrelated issue that was resolved later, and ever since then when I visit sites my computer will randomly download website links to my download file. I checked each one to check out their intell and everything and at fist, since I wasn't sure what was happening, I just deleted them all, am still currently doing that anyway, and then when I got up my courage to see what the files information actually was its just links to webpages I've visited. It's not like they have anything directing me to sites I haven't been on. It's really weird! It downloads them while i'm on the site i'm visiting. It's super wearing me out and weirding me out! if anyone has an idea of what's going on and, more importantly, how to fix it I would GREATLY appreciate it! Thank You!

Paid for the music but it never downloaded: Little help please?
Alright, I paid for two songs from the iTunes music store and started to download them when I was booted offline. I got back on, and they started to download again only to get booted off a second time.
I have dial-up, so when its important people can voice mail and for some reason that boots us offline.
Anyway, I wasn't able to get back online till many hours later, and found that, not only did they not restart the download, but I've been charged the two dollars only to find nothing in my purchased folder and nothing in my library. Tutor for iMovie11 download stuck,help please.
I have no problems normally downloading tutorials etc from the internet but this just not want to download. I have paused and resumed the download numerous times and turned the Mac off but still no success. When I open up the Apps Store and hit Purchased it shows the tutorial as installing. It shows the words "1.1kb of 2.9gb - less than a minute remaining" but nothing is happenning, I have left it in that position for a few hours but no movement.
If I hit pause and then resume it goes through the normal motions of estimating how long it will take to download but each time ending up with the words as above and that is it.
I am on Broadband via dsl and I can assure you I have no problems downloading from the Internet. I have a download speed of between 3500 & 3800 kbps.
I have subsequently downloaded Tutor for iDVD and it has worked fine.Thank you Carolyn for your reply.
The App does not appear in the Applications Folder.
Restarted imac and followed your advice to repurchase. The first dialog box appeared but not the second saying I had already purchased this item. (Apple have previously confirmed and debited my account).
An icon 'Tutor for imovie '11' appeared in the dock (I was now getting excited) how sad am I?
But nothing appeared to be happening, hovered over the icon and it said Waiting. Left for aprox 30 minutes, still waiting.
Clicked the Purchased button in Apps Store to see it had arrived but nothing other than the original Purchased Tutor for iMovie dated May 5th still showing the words "1.1kb of 2.9gb-less than a minute remaining" Being ever hopeful clicked Pause and then Resume but all as reported above.
The subsequent purchase of Tutor for iDVD May 10th does appear in the Purchased list in the Apps Store and works well. I did this to see if I could kick start the stuck download.
I appreciate your response and would be grateful if there is anything else you could suggest.

Mac OS X Combined Update to 10.6.8, Data Image Corrupted on Download? Help Please?
I am trying to update my MacBook to the latest OS X 10.6.8, but once downloaded and the laptop asks to be restarted to complete installation, it installs half way and i am returned with a message that the image data is corrupted. Anyone help or know of this error?
