Downloads for Mail Need to be Unencrypted?
Hi,
I've been having an issue on my new Macbook Pro where when I download a Powerpoint file from Mail and try to open it in Keynote, I get an error message saying that the file is encrypted, and I need to unencrypt it. How do I unencrypt this file so that I can open it?

You need the key from whomever sent you the file.
You should also update your profile or OS. The version you are showing is very old and has some bugs.

Some time ago dragged the Apple Mail program into the trash. (Trying to save some space) Well I have switched ISP's and now need to reinstall it. Unfornatuly my eMac will not read CD's anymore. Is there someplace that I can download the program? Or any ideas on restoring the CD reader.
Thanks.Well Does your optical drive work any? If so, you may use a Mac OS X Tiger Install/Restore Disk and click on "Optional Installs". See if that helps. Also, look at your System Profiler for your Optical Drive. If you see it, do as I said earlier. If not, then I ask, "Is that your Apple-Shipped drive?" If not, do you still have it? If you do, re-install it. I had the same issue that Optical Disks would not mount, nor is any Optical drive detected. But re-install, the Apple-Shipped drive, and it should appear. (It worked well with me.) If your Apple-Shipped Drive is a ComboDrive, and you have a better drive installed now, then just re-insert your ComboDrive and Archive and Install OS X. (Also a problem, Did you see an unusual folder in the Trash? (Mine started with 502. ...) if so, I don't know where it may go, (I just did a clean install) but it IS related to the problem). An Archive Install should fix this. (Granted your Optical Drive is in a working state) If you don't have it, try purchasing a DVD-ROM drive (They are around $30 US) and install that one. (I recommend that you try a different brand (The Apple-Shipped Drives are Usually MATSHITA or PIONEER Drives) since that folder contains the drivers for that brand). Also just a heads up, The ATA Bus will NOT appear in the System Profiler if it doesn't see any devices that may be connected the ATA Bus.

Attachment Downloading in Mail - How do you know the status of the download
Hi,
I'm trying to send a keynote presentation from my iMac to my MacBook and it doesn't seem to be working. The attachment shows up in my email, I click on it, and it doesn't really do anything. Is there a way to check the status of the download, or clear all the downloads for mail? I think it's just the size of the file, because pages files work, and even very small keynote files, but not a 3 slide keynote presentation.
Any help with this would be much appreciated.

In short a Local Area Network is your network at home. Both your computers are somehow conncted to the internet. Most people don't want to afford seperate internet lines for each computer they own, so they build a LAN.
Many internet providers will give you a modem with more than one network port so you can plug in more than one computers. If there's only one port, most people connect a router to get more ports. If you have wireless at home, you also have a LAN.
Now to the better options: On both copmuters: Go to system preferences > Sharing. Enable File Sharing. To learn more about it, just click on the question mark button at the lower right.
After you did this, open a Finder window. In the sidebar there will be a new item: Shared. If you open the triangle you'll see the computer name of your other computer. This can take a few seconds to show up.
Now you just place the files you want to share in your Public folder so the other Mac can access it.

iMac Mac OS X (10.2.x)I copied the following from my posted reply to your query in the Tiger forum.
If for a POP type account, try the following.
Quit Mail first and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail > this account named folder (named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account) > MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded.
Delete the MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded file and empty the Trash.
This should resolve the problem and if successful, any previously downloaded messages that remain on the server will be downloaded again and for future reference, you should not be accessing and especially deleting messages with a POP type account when running the Mail.app or any email client and using webmail access at the same time. -

As a new user of Apple TV, I need some assistance.When I rent a movie on iTunes and download for viewing later, say a day or two later, It seems to load itself all over again with a msg saying ready to view in 25 mins ! So having waited the 25 mins movie starts and runs for maybe 1 hour and the pauses for maybe 5 mins while it seems to load again . any help appreciated
Welcome to the Apple Community.
If you use the Apple TV for something else or turn it off it will erase whatever is on it's drive. If you are going to download content for later viewing you might consider doing it on the computer, downloads don't disappear until they expire and you can watch them as many times as you want. -
I have had Adobe XI for about two years and My harddrive just crashed. My backups were part of the failure so I can't get it back. I purchased it from a third part supplier and it was a download. I need to find out how to get it restored. I can send screen shots of all of the drive location where the drive is still good and I can see my Adobe Acrobat pro information, but the download itself is missing. NEXT STEP?
If you are talking about Reader (you did post in the Reader forum), then just download http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise. However Reader is free not purchasable. You can download a trial then install using your serial number, which if you didn’t register or write down somewhere you will be out of luck to track down.

I know it can be frustrating when you are waiting for content to download to your iPhone from the iTunes Store. There are a few steps I would recommend in this situation. Please read over and follow the steps in the attached article.

If your download was interrupted using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
From the Home screen, tap the iTunes app.
For iPhone or iPod touch, tap More > Downloads. For iPad, tap Downloads.
Enter your account name and password if prompted.
Tap the blue download arrow to resume.
If you can't complete the download on your iOS device, you can download it in iTunes on your Mac or PC and then sync it to your iOS device. You can also transfer purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer.

I did a factory reset on my old laptop and lost my Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard. I have the serial number but need a download and can only find download for Pro version. When I enter my serial number (standard) into the Pro Installation it says the number is invalid. Any idea where I can download Standard version of 9? Thanks.
Kimg68365882 did you purchase Acrobat 9 Standard from Adobe directly? If so and you choose to download the software instead of receive a CD then please see Find a download link on Adobe.com.
If you originally received the software on CD then please use a computer with an optical drive to copy the contents of the CD to a USB drive. -

I have iPhoto Version 8.6, and and want to upgrade to Version 9. I can't find a download for Version 9.0.0. Exactly what version do I need to download, and or buy, and where do I find it? Every version of 9 that I download tells me I need an earlier one.
There is no download aside from the one in the Mac App Store available to people running Mac OS X 10.6.6 and newer. The other way of getting iPhoto 9 is to purchase iLife 11 on DVD. As iLife 11 requires Mac OS X 10.6.3 or newer, it's usually best to update to 10.6.8 for free and then use the Mac App Store version.
