When I click on a file, the downloads box opens and depending on the setting, it auto saves the file or asks me where to save the file. What if I don't want to save it anywhere, I just want to view it and close it?

You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "VSearch" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
/Library/LaunchDaemons/Jack.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
/Library/Application Support/VSearch
/Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/Jack
/System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised the value of Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. -
Can calendar entries from an iPhone be pushed up to the cloud for iPad and computer updating? My phone only seems to be receiving updates from the cloud, but not able to send them.
Under Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars, What do you have set for the Default Calendar? Personal?
If you don't have it set to a Cloud Calendar it will only create the entry locally. You would need to select the iCloud Calendar specifically when creating the Calendar entry to have it sync.
Otherwise set your default calendar to be the iCloud Calendar so all entries are created there by default. And as such get synced to other devices. -
If I try to download a pdf document, details appear in the tab but not on screen. I am using Firefox. If I use Safari it appears on the screen but the print is blank.

Open the Finder.
From the menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Typs this exactly as you see it here: /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Click Go
Move the Adobe PDF Browser plugin (or just PDF Browser plugin) to the Trash.
Relaunch either Firefox or Safarai and try downloading a PDF document. -
I just started using my IPod and I downloaded my library. I accidently changed the artist names for an entire genre category and I can't undo it. I read all the edit help stuff and I either can't select items to edit or I'm an idiot and I can't figure it out. I keep trying and I get a pop up that asks me if I want to change multiple items.

Check to see if it is in your purchased section of the iTunes Store or if it is already in the Music app with Show All Music turned on in Settings > Music.

I purchased two movies which I can see have been deducted from my account. However, they are not in my library after waiting a long time for them to download. I can't access the movies I have already paid for! They are also not in my cloud. I am completely frustrated. At this point I just want a refund and will never try to watch a movie on here again!
If you bought them on your iPad then they should have downloaded into the iPad's Videos app - is that where you are looking for them ?
If they aren't there then have you tried searching for them via the iPad's spotlight search screen ? Pull down the centre of the home screen in iOS 7, swipe your first home screen to the right in iOS 6 and below.
If that doesn't find them either, and they don't show in the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app for redownloading (films won't show there in all countries), then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support (these are user-to-user forums) : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

My AI program (CS5 Illustrator 15.1.0) will not open some PDFs. It was working just yesterday, but now will only open a PDF if the graphics of the PDF is visible in the box that appears in the lower left corner of the dialog box after you click Open. The file size does not seem to matter. Any ideas?

Alos, please sign up at "https://cloud.acrobat.com/" using your Adobe ID credentials. Click on 'ExportPDF' tab and upload the PDF that you want to convert to Word.

I am running mac os x 10.5 i can download files from the internet but adobe reader 9 keeps telling me they can not decode them,( Adobe Reader could not open 'dap93.exe' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged) (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). help!
Message was edited by: kjsk8nAdobe Reader does not open .EXE files, it opens .PDF files. If you were on Windows I would tell you to fix the file association, but I have no idea how to do that on a Mac.

There were some updates on my Apps. I updated them on my iTunes but my iPad did not get the same downloads/updates thru iCloud. Does the iCloud only works for "New" Apps or Books downloaded from the store but not the "Updates"?
Purchased music does not count against your iCloud storage and you cannot get rid of them in the purchased tab.

How do i synch my pdf/books to my Itunes library. I was able to synch my ipod touch app purchases by transferring them but can't figure out how to do my pdfs. Also why is my ipod picture greyed out-the one that lets my move the icons around.
I am afraid if i don't get the pdfs into my book library, i will lose them when i update to IOS 5-is that true?thank you-i have to check into the authorization and the account-i gave my husband my old ipod when i updated last year so both at one time have been on this computer but as it stands, it only comes up with my device when i plug into Itunes.
i don't think i have any restrictions for installing apps although my normal way of doing it is to download from the ipod touch. i did find that all i had to do was right click on my device name and got the message to transfer my apps and then they showed up in my library. Also when i clicked the synch checkbox i was able to view the ipod touch picture without it being greyed out. after all that i was able toupdate to IOS 5 successfully except my videos and podcast, and pdfs did not come over. This confuses me since i had dragged them over to my library to make sure that i had everything in my library and on my device. Not a big problem, since i just dragged them in itunes from my library to my device but sometimes i wonder if i understand the big picture:) -
i recently updated my macbook, i don't know if that has any effect to my recent problem, but when i try to download and save .mp3 files from the internet, like i have done in the past, it downloads but not as an mp3 file, its "blank" and when i try to open it, i can't? I NEED HELP !

I downloaded a book on iTunes with my MacBook Pro and want to read the book on my computer. Just can't figure out how to do it. Do I need a program to read books on the MacBook first or is this something I can get in the app store?

A way to see which images are blocked is to click the favicon (''Site Identification'' icon) on the left side of the location bar and click the "More Information" button.
This will open the Security tab of the ''Page Info'' window (also accessible via Tools > Page Info).
Go to the ''Media'' tab of that Page Info window.
Select the first image and scroll down though the list with the Down arrow.
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box ''Block Images from...'' then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
