What are the noticable differences between pages 2008 and 2011?
I ask this because publisher in Microsoft seems to have thought of everything when it comes to publishing that pages hasn't got,. at least my version which I bought in 2008 . I need to decide whether to just upgrade to 2011 or purchase a copy of publisher for Mac.
Does anyone out there have much experienced of publishing?juliekins1 wrote:

There is no such animal as "publisher for Mac." Are you referring to MS Office?

Hi all,
I Have a doubt in the termionation scenario
In the termination steps,I maintained in IT16,41 and pc00_m40_term and exit the employee
the notice period is one month
my scenario is the salary should only count till the notice start day.
If an employee puts notice on 15,may 2008,the salary should be only 15th and it should not take salary till 31st may
in the jume saalry after serving the notice ,his notice pay from 15th may to 15th june has to be counted
But for me,when I run the payroll for may month, its taking full saalry till 31st.How to delimit till 15th and to give the settlements on his leaving date
How to do this.Please answerHi
If you want the employee salary to be counted till notice pay start date, in that pay period ie... if employee gives resignation on 15May, gives 1month notice so last working day is 15june. In that scenario if you are running the payroll for may on june 1st. you cant stop since your saperation action will be on 15 june, payroll will count 31 days. of may.
You can hold the salary for whole month but To calculate for only 15 days you can do posiible ways
1) dont update the attendance after 15 may, so the payroll will be accounted to 15days
2) In IT 3 there is date run payroll upto, enter 15 may there and later you can change.
3)You can enter 15days salary amt in negative for this period. (Not a good method)
Good luck

Marketplace maintenance, may cause outage!
If you notice you can't reach Marketplace this weekend please read this message:
QUOTE:
App Hub maintenance starts Friday, portal downtime planned August 6
On Friday we’ll begin upgrading the infrastructure underlying App Hub and Marketplace, a long-planned improvement project that I first wrote about back in April.
If you have an app you were hoping to update or publish to Marketplace this week, you should submit it today or tomorrow. While maintenance work is underway you may experience delays in app certification and publishing.
This effort also requires App Hub to be taken offline starting next Monday morning Pacific time. I don’t have an exact downtime, but we expect it to be less than 24 hours. Rest assured our teams will be working as quickly as possible to minimize the impact on you. Once the developer portal is back online, you might still encounter an occasional hiccup as we complete the back-end work over the next several weeks.
The good news is that this brief inconvenience will result in a more robust submission and certification pipeline for your Windows Phone 7.5 apps, and address many of the concerns you’ve shared over the months. We appreciate your patience during the upgrade work. If you have questions, please feel free to post a comment and I’ll do my best to answer

[2008-08-19 08:34] IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ENCRYPTION USERS
[2008-08-19 08:34]
[2008-08-19 08:34] The "password" column in /etc/crypttab has now
[2008-08-19 08:34] two special keywords:
[2008-08-19 08:34] - ASK ask for a passphrase on boot
[2008-08-19 08:34] - SWAP use a random key and create swapspace
[2008-08-19 08:34] This is particularly dangerous, as the
[2008-08-19 08:34] volume in question will be overwritten
[2008-08-19 08:34] If you use SWAP as your passphrase (which
[2008-08-19 08:34] is insecure anyway), be sure to remove it
[2008-08-19 08:34] from /etc/crypttab to avoid dataloss!
[2008-08-19 08:34]
[2008-08-19 08:34] See /etc/crypttab(.pacnew) for more information.
[2008-08-19 08:34] -----------------------------------------------------------
[2008-08-19 08:34] Attention netcfg users: netcfg is no longer included as
[2008-08-19 08:34] part of the initscripts package.
[2008-08-19 08:34] Be aware that rc.conf's NET_PROFILES has changed to
[2008-08-19 08:34] NETWORKS, and that netcfg must be installed separately.

As you see here, for some reason wlan-ng** and ipw3945*(older driver) made it into my machine aswell, let alone ndiswrapper, that i never used.No matter what, my net after i booted the new kernel was broken. I couldnt connect using the "network" script (see below) as i used to.On boot kernel using just udev , was loading for some reason all ipw3945/iwl3945/ndiswrapper!So to minimize conflict possibilities, i removed wlan-ng26/wlan-ng26-utils , as well as ipw3945/ipw3945d and ndiswrapper. I blacklisted all the above aswell so to be sure that only the recommended iwl3945/mac80211 combo will run .
So rc.conf

Aha! somethng goes wrong at low level there. Only randomly the pings are echoed for 3 or 4 seconds, and then again my wifi card looses association and starts all over taking random time to reassociate.
As a side note, the hardware *did* work properly since it was operating flawlessly before last update, *AND* *does* work properly , since i can boot from my FaunOS usb stick , and get it work properly. This all seem strange to me. In case any of you can recognize wthere this is some sort of configuration problem, upstream code problem, or package problem i would be glad to hear it , as i have been trying to figure out what is going wrong for 5 days now.I havent yet tried managed more, but it is not an option for me at the moment.

IMGWell after getting tired trying out little things here and there with iwl3945/mac80211 and rc.conf et al. i gave ndiswrapper 1.52 a shot and it worked. Now i have my network back. So this reduces i guess the possibility for a script error causing this issue? So it is a iwl3945/mac80211 error? Should i file a bug for this somewhere with all the data i have in this thread and my braincells regarding this issue, since the suggested open source linux drivers dont work after upgrading to 2.26.6?
Enjoy
IMG
PS : with ndiswrapper and windows XP driver, i got my network up , issuing *exactly* the same commands i was trying with iwl3945/mac80211 combo. So this is saying something i think... -
I purchased new macbook pro 15" with quad core 2.2 ghz intel i7, 8gb of ram. I swear to god it is slower than my previous 2008 macbook running leopard OS. I use heavy programs pretty often, adobe CS5 and 3D modeling and some rendering on the mac side and and a bit of 3D work with fusion on windows. I was really expecting a performance boost with the new computer, but Lion is annoyingly slow. Even if I am not using any of the heavy stuff and just browsing on the internet, it seems noticeably slower than the 2008 macbook. Typing lags sometimes, genie effect and opening effect lags. The iOS type features are also sluggish. I am about ready to start working again on my old macbook on leopard. I haven't had any issues with the machine completely freezing (though I have had to force quit apps a few times). It is definitely a usable machine, but for the price and newness I expect the performance to be better than the 2008 macbook. From what I have read on the forums, I am blaming the buggy Lion OS for my troubles. I figured the OS might still have some bugs as it was brand new, but this is more than I bargained for.
Does anyone know if it is possible to role back to Snow Leopard? I have heard it can't be done if the computer came pre-installed with Lion OS, but surely some clever people have figured a way...Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.
I am not using Filevault, and the closest genius bar is 4 hours away, so I am trying to figure out a solution via internet. I will check out the Fusion update, though I expect that to be slow (that is the price you pay for running windows on a mac!)
I am surprised you havent noticed the resume/restore windows, docs, and apps feature (for both subsequent openings of program and reboot of system- new to Lion OS) I use the term feature lightly as they didnt seem to work properly initially, like they had cached older stuff than when I actually quit an app or shut down. After the first couple of times of the computer stalling trying to reopen an application with a heavy document or restarting and trying to open EVERY program I had used the day before, I disabled the features. To disable required a bit of a hack with Terminal.
to disable on restart:
http://osxdaily.com/2011/08/25/disable-reopen-windows-when-logging-back-in-in-ma c-os-x-lion-completely/
to disable resuming applications:
http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/18/disable-mac-os-x-lion-resume-window-restore/
--only that doesn't really work (which if you scroll through the comments below you will see what people post about it) I had to expose the hidden library, delete some stuff there, and run some stuff in terminal to get this feature totally disabled, blah blah blah.
These seem like good ideas, but definitely need some tweaking to work properly. I like the iOS features in Mission Control, but the lagging animations are absolutely unacceptable. Even dragging an icon across starts out jerky and sluggish. I never noticed any issue with the OS animations on the 2008 Macbook running Leopard.
Anyway, there are known compatibility issues with Lion and Adobe Creative Suite. Adobe CS5 products are what I use most often, so I would like to role back to Snow leopard, though it is reported that Apple has made that impossible on the new machines that shipped with Lion. -
Please advise me to generate this fiscal closing month dates as shown below

Fiscal calendar closing dates for FY2008-2010.
‘Fiscal’ month and ‘Fiscal’ year closing dates will always be on Saturday so
the fiscal month will include either 4 or 5 complete weeks and fiscal
year will be 52 or 53 complete weeks. ‘Fiscal’ months and ‘Fiscal’
years do not close in the middle of a week as ‘calendar’ months and ‘calendar’ years may do.
For example, Fiscal April 2008 started on 3/30/2008 (Sunday, the day after the close of Fiscal March 2008)
and ended on 4/26/2008 (Saturday). Fiscal Year 2008 started on 9/30/2007 (Sunday)
and ends on 9/27/2008 (Saturday).

Hi All
I have a table which contains a calendar period and fiscal period. I want to use one table only, no alias to bring back all the periods in the current calendar year e.g 200701 which is January to 200712 which is December and also to bring back all periods from the current fiscal year e.g. 2007/08-01 which is April 2007 to 2007/08-12 which is March 2009 so my result set should look something like below
Calendar Period Calendar Month Fiscal Period Fiscal Month
200701 January 2007/08-01 April
200702 February 2007/08-02 May
200703 March 2007/08-03 June
200704 April 2007/08-04 July
200705 May 2007/08-05 August
200706 June 2007/08-06 Spetember
200707 July 2007/08-07 October
200708 August 2007/08-08 November
200709 September 2007/08-09 December
200710 October 2007/08-10 January
200711 November 2007/08-11 March
200712 December 2007/08-12 April
Can I restrict one table to bring back both of these?Below is what i am using at the moment for testing before i create the table. A table has not yet been created for this yet but this is the format I was told is needed

ACCUMULATION OF p/l & s/l leave of gradeless employees
Hi,
As per ED`s Notice dated 2/1/2008 p/l. can be accumulated upto 300 days. But we have noticed that p/l. balance is appearing more than 300 days e.g. Mr. A.Roy, Ch.No.2107 u2013 300.5 days and Mr. S.G.S.Prasad, Ch.No.2425 u2013 307.5 days
Can u please mention the steps how to a check for all.

AM.Hi,
Put the max entitlement in the tab "Total Entitlement" of view V_T559L. However, this will only work if your quota record in IT 2006 has validity end date as 31.12.9999.
If your quota record in IT 2006 is created for each validity period (i.e. one record for one period), then you can not limit the max entitlement with standard settings. In this case you will need to use User Exit.

How do I prevent automatic downloading of .pdf files?
Hi:
I've noticed previous queries (from 2008 and 2009) asking how to prevent Safari or perhaps Adobe Reader from automatically downloading .pdf files when they open them.
I haven't had this problem recently until today. Previously, I would click a link and the .pdf file would open in a separate window. If I wanted to download the file I would have to select the download icon from the pop-up icons at the bottom of the page.
Today when I click a link to a .pdf file, the file automatically downloads to my Download folder. Adobe Reader is opening the file. In its Internet Preferences, I deselected "Display PDF in browser using. . ." and "Allow speculative downloading. . ." to no effect.
How can I get automatic downloading to stop?
I also selected a .pdf file, pressed Command-I, and in the Open With section of the pane, tried changing from Adobe Reader to Preview and then Safari to get the automatic downloading to stop, but neither choice produced the desired effect.pjmetz: You say "tried changing from Adobe Reader to Preview and then Safari to get the automatic downloading to stop, but neither choice produced the desired effect." What effect did these changes produce? I am sure they didn't leave things as they were, did they? If they did, and Adobe Reader is strong-arming its way to causing all PDF files to download, try removing Reader and give it a test with no Reader-assist. Oh, I'm not trying to get you to give up on Reader. You can copy Reader to an ext. HDD for safe-keeping, and then trash it from the internal HDD, and empty the trash. Then test Safari. If Safari works correctly without Reader, get your answer from Adobe.com
maxintaft: PDF files cannot be editied easily even on your HDD, mush less in a browser window. Whatever it is you are typing in (or have been typing in previously), it is not a PDF file, so your issue needs a new question, or contact the school site webmaster for help. -
Can using a MB power adapter with a MBP become a problem?
I got a late 2008 Macbook here and a early 2008 Macbook Pro. I noticed that the power adapters are of different size. When I use the power adapter of the late 2008 Macbook with my early 2008 Macbook Pro, it gets quite hot which, I assume, is due to a higher power requirement of the early 2008 MBP.
Can this become a problem?Although I cannot say for your particular combination, the general rule tends to be that a power adaptor that is lower in power rating than what was issued can run the computer or charge the battery, but not both. There are time when you need max power. It's obvious from Apple docs and reports here that the MBP can draw from both the battery and AC power under extreme workload condition. In such a case the battery would run down, something less likely to happen with the proper adaptor.
I have a pre-owned PowerBook G4 17" that should have a 65W power adaptor but came with a 45W unit. It will not start on AC power without some charge on the battery. That's the stuff you can encounter.
Did you notice that the Late 2008 Macbook Pros rate their own new forum here:

Div not recognised in template
Hi, first ever question.
I have a template page with standard divs, Header, Nav, Content, Footer all are contained in a wrapper div and all working as expected.
I have inserted a new div to sit in between the content and footer, The box properties are set so that they only take up 2/3 of the area and I have put a 2 px border around it.
When vewing it in Dreamweaver it looks exactly as I was expecting to see it. However when I upload and view in a browser the text I have inserted appears across the entire length of the page and the border is missing.
I would really appreciate some direction.
ThanksOK, I get it, common sense stuff, should have known better.
Platform: MAC
OS: 10.6.8 Snow Leopard
Software: Dreamweaver - CS5.5
New Div: "wordDoc"
Test page URL: file:///Users/ralphharpur/My%20Clients/Bambach%20Cables/bambach%20website%20files/bambach _website/testPages/testIndex.html
This file shows the problem as the "wordDoc" div appearing underneath existing div's, however this was not the original problem. Original problem was div not appearing at all.
I have already tried inserted "clear-both" before and after the div as well as a class "clear" (since removed).

<h4 class="indent">Established in 1936, Bambach Wires & Cables are an Australian owned and operated manufacturer of specialist industrial cables. Whether you need new or unique wire and cable technology, or just someone to deliver the basics, Bambach is there for you.<br />

<div class="wordDoc" id="wordDoc">
<p>As you may or may not be aware, Bambach has been asked to test for non-transmission of internal ignition for the following cables 19285BES, 40670BES, 30308BES, 42505BES, 19290BES & 15790BES.</p>
<p>Test Safe, Londonderry are to conduct the tests and are scheduled to start this Saturday 17th March. An order has been placed. </p>
<p>The work will be done over weekends using paid overtime otherwise work could not start before the end of April at the earliest.</p>
<p>Many of the cables have been in use without any problems for more than 12 years without any problems. Unfortunately the DII Gazette Notice dated 25th January 2008 escaped our attention due to staff changes. Otherwise tests would have been carried out then.</p>
<p>Although the above tests are to be conducted I do emphasize that no cable, including the above, leaves these premises without rigorous routine and sample testing.</p>
<p>The cables listed above are the only Bambach product that require testing for <br />
non-transmission of internal ignition. No other product is effected </p>

Seems to feel kind of slow, or is it just me?
I just noticed that my late 2008 2.4ghz umbp (stock) is kind of slow. For example, safari used to load up less than a second. Now it takes about two to four bounces. Then, it will take 1 second to start up. On Firefox, it usually takes 5 to 6 bounces to start up as well. Could there be alot going on through my activity monitor?
Or is it normal to see that all macs tend to get slower after much use is done?Generally speaking, as your computer ages, and files add up, log files, cache, etc., some things will slow your computer down. I use an app called Cocktail, which will let you clean out a lot of that stuff safely, and can speed up your computer. Repair permissions after installation of any app as well. This is often when weird stuff happens.
Also, here's what you can do to speed up your computer, it's second best to a clean install. If you have an external drive, use a program, such as SuperDuper! and clone your drive. Then boot from the cloned drive. Then erase your internal drive. Then copy your clone using SuperDuper! back to your internal. Now you'll have a fresh start, hopefully getting rid of any slowdown.
It's always a good idea to have two (working) backup copies of your data should anything happen to either the internal or external data.

Query on Proclarity 6.3.2217 with SP2 desktop tool
Hi,
I am facing issues with Proclarity 6.3.2217 with SP2 desktop tool.
Problems:
1) I have ProClarity book developed on proclarity 6.32217 querying a 2008 cube. I noticed that on the 2008 cube the Options/Non Empty Crossjoin box is checked when the grid is filtered. But when I "uncheck" the box it does not stick. I can uncheck it and the rows are still filtering empties. I go back to the option and it is checked again.
Because of this issues query is returning a huge dataset and due to huge dataset proclarity tool throws an error as follows:” Query Failed"
2) When I tried to publish the same proclarity book on web (i.e. on PAS server) it throws an error following error when I was browsing for data.

Can you help me around the above problems? Is there any hot fix around proclarity to resolved issues around "Non Empty Crossjoin" option?Hi Guys,
Even I am getting this error:
Error from Event-viewer from Machine Where ProClarity Server Installed and running: Sometimes I am getting below error and sometimes It is working fine.
Any Idea what causes issues?

I currently have a Dell computer that I have had for a few years and I don't like it. I want to get the macbook pro 15" but they are out of my budget. I think the best option would be a used one probably from 2008-2009. I'm hoping that I can updat
