DP BOm forecasting and Characteristics based forecasting

Have anyone implemented DP BOM forecasting and Characterstics based forecasting at the same time in the same planning area/POS?  If so, can you please provide instructions /documentation on how you are able to do that?
(The version of SCM/APO DP we are using is 4 .1)

Thanks for the response, however I already know about the SAP help guide. The help guide does not answer my question at all that is why I posted this question.
When I try to turn on both CBF and BOM forecasting, the radio button of either one get's greyed out when I select the other one. However if I un-select the added characteristrics remains and then if I select the other option, it adds the new charactersitics associated with that function.
My question is whether you can implement (turn on) both CBF and BOm forecasting at the same time .
Has anyone tried this as well or have implemented both functions in the same planning area?

  • How to plan in characteristic based forecast in BOM level

    Hi experts,
How to plan in characteristic based forecast in BOM level
Can explain me elaborate about this.

    Hi Harsh,
Remember that the tree table is a Master-Detail relationship between VO. So in your case, you are applying a VO Criteria to your Master, wich will allow you to filter data a Master Level. If you want to filter the Child VO, you need to create a ViewCriteria for it and apply it in your AM -> YourMaster -> YourChild VO :: Edit -> Shuttle the VC to the right.
But following this approach the Filter you use in the ChildVO, will be applied to all Childs independently of the MasterVO.
Hope it is clearer now, but let me know if you need more help or if you think I didn't understand your main issue.

  • How to Forecast and run MRP for consumed materials

    Hi Experts,
I need help urgently on below business requirement.
Objective: Forecast consumable materials (like Gas , Chemical) to produce Finish product
    Scenario:
    1.  We have Plant WF01  - to produce finish products, Sales related activities, SOP for sales forecast, and production planning
      Production BOM Like below
Finish part (material used to make production, Sales, Shipment)
RAW  (Component used to make Finish Product)
    2. We have other plats with in same company for  GS01 - for GAS related materials, CH01 - For Chemical Related material
          - Material under GS01, CH01 does not have BOM
          - Gas and chemical material used during production process to make finish product
    Question:
              - How Can I forecast(to procure from external), how much GAS/Chemical required to meet future demand from SOP
              - How can I link SOP to forecast GAS and Chemicals because we don't want to base on historic usage
              - Please share best practices if any

    Hi All ,
Thank you for help. Understand we can use CBP for non BOM components planning.
But SAP has standard forecasting models(based on historic/trend/Seasonal etc.).
Can we define our own forecasting model to generate fore cast values.
    Ex:
    Based on history
Com1 - requires 100PC in Mar and 150 in Apr
But what we require is , We need to base on usage rate(to make finish product) and SOP forecast  to determine raw material forecast.
         i.e
SOP: FinishGoods 1000pc in Mar and 2000PC in Apr
based on SOP, I need raw material comp1  500PC in Mar and 1000PC in Apr
formula: Lets say Usage rate for Raw Comp1 is 0.5PC to produce 1PC of finish goods
                   Forecast: 0.5PC  * 1000PC = 500PC
                                   0.5PC  * 2000PC = 1000PC
Usage rate * Demand = Raw material forecast value
usage rate and demand are dynamic and can change.
Is there any way in SAP to determine forecast of components based on formula.
    Thank you.

  • Demand (not consumption) based Forecasting

    Hi SDNers,
In 4.7 standard SAP without APO, we have consumption based forecasting.  We need forecasting to be DEmand based so it forcasts based on sales orders, both open and closed.
How is this possible to setup please?
    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi DB49,
Yes you are correct: I am talking about the key figures from which your forecast is derived. We do "not" want to use the past issues (consumption) as a key figure, and "do" need to use demand/requirements (Sales orders, both open and closed) as a key figure.
Apologies for my not clearly defining the issue earlier.  I was alwalys told SAP standard forecasting used only consumption to derive the forecast - really hope this is not true as we must now use actual sales orders to derive the forecast numbers.  Unfortuntly, I do not know how to accomplish this change.
We do not use S&OP: currently run Forecast (RMPROG00) then Copy Forecast (RM60FORC) monthly, which passes to Independant requirements, which is then planned by MPS and finally MRP.  We run MPS and MRP on different days by plant.
Most of our materials are MRP Types M0, M1, PD, using MRP Group 0040, with many different Lot size groupings. For the most part, we do not use Strategy Groups.
We forecast at the parent and component levels, mostly at the parent level.
Hope this helps - please let me know if you need any more info or if I did not clearly state our processes.
Thanks again for your help!! Really appreciate your time and knowledge sharing.

  • Forecast and consumption in APO for Third-party order processing

Has anyone tried to forecast in DP for the standard 3rd party order processing process in R3? The business wants to enter a forecast in DP, Release it to SNP and do planning as though it is a normal process. They also want the sales order entered in R3 to be passed to APO and consume the forecast. But, these sales orders with schedule line category CS don't transfer requirements and hence don't get passed to APO.
Has anyone tried any other workaround/process for this 3rd party drop ships? The standard 3rd party order process still needs to be used in R3 since it creates the Req when the sales order is entered and there is no GR on the PO nor any delivery created for the shipment to the customer. The Vendor ships the product directly to the customer and send an invoice to us. We then invoice the customer.
    Any help is appreciated.

None of the gurus have answered to this thread.
So let me share my experience.
The answer to your question would be NO- Unless someone has really a workaround which I suspect.
We did speak with SAP on the same requirement as yours and SAP came back saying NO- There is no standard SAP provided solution.
Having Schedule line category- CS which results in a Purch Req and also passng the requirement is an impossible task through standard SAP
I tried many ways - however in the R3 Schedule Line config, you can maintain only one of them- Either generating a requirement or a Purch Req.
<b>The workaround which I can think of- which your company might not agree:</b>
Maintain stock at your internal location and change the sales order type from third party processing to a standard order type.
As you will be forecasting for these materials, the requirements and receipts can be generated far out in the future and can be passed on to the vendor who will supply you in advance.
I know this is not an optimal solution- However I cannot think of any workaround
Just tried offering some inputs as no one else was responding

  • Inspection characteristics based on material and goup counter

    Hi,
Do we have some function module which would give us inspection characteristics based on material and group counter. I have gone through many posts in this regard but find answers to get inspection characteristics based on inspection lot number.
I do not want to get into quality at all. Is there a FM to get the inspection characteristics based on material and group counter or any related tables would be of gr8 help. T-code QP03 takes material and group counter as input and displays the inspection characteristics. Any input in this regard would be of great help.

You can change the above field values only from WBS scheduling profile. If you want to change them, choose 'free scheduling' method.

  • Sales and Operations Planning - forecast on customer/material

    Experts,
What are the possibilities to maintain a forecast for customer/materail combinations?
The requirement is only to maintain a forecast and the actuals should be updated automatically (from sales requirements). These actuals should consume the forecast so that it's always up to date. A link with PP is not needed.
I'm not so familiar with S&OP --> what is possible in standard and how?
    Thanks

    Jan,
As I see ur reqt, certainly doable if u use the SOP within PP mmodule. With Flexible SOP u can def'ly plan a combi of Cust & Materials (in the sequence u want - Matl > Cust or Cust > Matl)..Chk out the options, help is pretty elaborate..

Maybe CDR is also characterisict dependent somthing? (Just a guess ...)
What's the context do you find this term?

  • APO DP Composite forecast and expost forecast

    Hi every body
We want to use composite with standard mode with automatic correction of history by outlier. Univariates are univariates strategy 13 with moving average. It should be possible since I have seen doc explaining that we can store expost forecast for composite in a keyfigure
In composite profile, we do not have the flag for outlier. So I maintained it in the univariates of the composite.
    I got no effect
I am not sure of the place where to maintain the keyfigure for expost forecast for composite. I maintained the usual forecasting setting in the planning area with the field for forecast, corrected history, corrected forecast, expost forecast. But with composite, is there an other place since I did not got result ?
    Kind regards,

  • What is "WITHDRAWAL:" and "ALLOCATED" in Forecast tab in RRP3

    Hello Gurus,
The quantity and date in withdrawal and allocated in forecast tab of RRP3 does not match with MB51 of ECC,
also pls clarify exactly how it is determined.
    Regards.

Hi there!  Withdrawal and allocated quantities distinguish between two concepts - forecast consumption and forecast reduction.  The withdrawal quantity represents the amount of forecast which has been "reduced" and the allocated quantity represents the amount of forecast which has been "consumed".  Consumption becomes reduction when a sales order / delivery is PGI'd.  Or, when an SO is canceled, the consumption is simply reversed and no reduction occurs.
Forecast reduction prevents "over-planning" for a given time period, meaning that the system "remembers" how much was shipped out to the customer so that the forecast shows in the system as "fulfilled".
For example, consider a day which has a forecast of 10.  There are open sales orders of 5, and another 3 were ordered and shipped today.  Assume also that there is no forward/backward consumption.  SO's consume forecast for the same day only.  In this case, the allocated quantity would be 5 - for the currently open orders.  The withdrawal quantity would be 3.  And the remaining unconsumed forecast for the day would be 2.
Not sure why there may be inconsistencies with ECC, however.  If you give more specifics on the nature of the discrepancy, I will try to respond with some additional input.

  • ME84 Outputs both Forecast and JIT when only Forecast is requested.

We are using ME84 to generate Forecasts and JITs for MM type LPA Scheduling Agreements.
When we generate only Forecasts (LPH1) a JIT (LPJ1) is also created, but with the same data as the Forecast.
When we generate only JITs the output is a JIT (LPJ1) with the correct data.
When we generate both, one LPH1 and two LPJ1's are created and one of them has the Forecast data instead of the JIT.
I just got here, and when I asked the Purchasing people about it they said it always does that and they just throw the erroneous JIT away.  Now we want to implement Vendor EDI and we don't want the weird "JIT with Forecast data" to go to the vendor, but we do want the correct JIT to go to the vendor.
I have gone through every Purchasing Output Control process I know of and can not figure out where this extra "JIT" is coming from.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    We are on ECC 5.0.
    Thanks in advance.

For anyone who seeks answers to this topic in the future:
I turned the problem over to SAP and they found the cause.
SAP Note 337750 says "In LV61BNNN ('Output requirements'), Include LV61B111 has been deleted inadvertently.".  LV61B111 is the code for "Requirement 111" which limits JIT output to be only for JIT schedules.  That code was not in LV61BNNN in the Production system  (It WAS in both the Q and D systems,  and JIT behavior did work properly in Q but not in Production).
The simple solution was to run SAP program RV80HGEN in the Production SAP System, after which the Include was there and the problem is solved.

  • Forecast and MRP type

    Hi,
I am in the process of designing a system where there is one DC which gets all sales orders and one mfg plant whihc manufactures and then STOs the material to the DC. Would it be a good thing to have the same forecast for the same material in the same preiods in the DC and the mfg plant, with the sales orders consuming the DC forecast and the STO consumng the mfg plant forecast ? I cannot think of any other way for the DC to drive the demand to the mfg plant and the mfg plant working with this demand to begin manufacturing and component sourcing.
Also I ran a forecast with the MRP type PD. I was expecting VV to be the only MRP type which will allow forecast to be run but looks like PD allows forecast as well. Is that corrrect ?
    Thanks

    Hello GS
It is not necessary to define the forecast on both plants, only on the plant where the sales orders will be received. Then, on the material master, you define a special procurement type such as "production in alternative plant" or "stock transfer" and MRp will automatically redirect the requirements from the DC to the manufacturing plant.
Take a look on the following link for more details:
Multi-Plant/Site Planning - Material Requirements Planning (PP-MRP) - SAP Library
Yes, PD allows the forecast. If you want to know which MRP types allow the forecast, take a look on the MRP type customizing transaction OMDQ. There is a setting where you define if the forecast is optional, mandatory or not allowed for the MRP type.
