DP/BOM sub-product branding problem.

Hi,
We have a problem in our DP/BOM process.
In our system we want to use DP/BOM for some materials. The materials that are included in a DP/BOM product tree is also sold seperately. The problem we are having in DP/BOM explosion is that it creates unwanted CVCs with the brand of the DP/BOM output material.
For eg.
We have a product A which is in Brand A bucket.
We have a product B which is in Brand B bucket.
We have a DP/BOM product C which includes product A and product B in its product tree.
When we explode DP/PPM two two new CVCs created;
A CVC of product A with Brand C profile.
A CVC of product B with Brand C profile.
As a conclusion although these products are not in Brand C category these new CVC created in Brand C. We dont want CVCs created in a category other then the products original category even if these CVCs are created as a part of DP/BOM.
So the question is; Is there a user exit/enhancement/a way to prevent/ modify these CVCs to be created in the sub-materials original Brand category. If we modify is there a way to make sure DP/BOM wil still work properly.

Hi,
I think you might want to reconsider how it is setup. Why are two products A & B of different Brand sold under C which is under a third brand? Generally BOMs are setup under the same product family.

Some DVDs will play while others will not - told it's an HP brand problem

A new movie I bought refuses to play on my laptop, not matter which media player I choose. The computer recognizes that there is a disk inserted (though it doesn't recognize what movie it is), but when I try to play the disk the player will freeze.
I've been told that this is simply an HP brand problem with no viable solution, but I was hoping to learn more about it here.
The new DVD I bought is the correct region and my disk drive is not dirty or faulty as it will play other DVDs and CDs just fine. This new DVD works with my other DVD player and works perfectly in my roommate's Toshiba laptop.
Is there some sort of downloadable solution?

Go to HP.com and update the dvd drive and the BIOS.
Here is a link to the update. You’ll need to select your country and have your product number.
You might also clear the upper and lower registry values.
As you play DVDs files will be stored in these folders that can sometimes cause problems.

and also the steps involved in creating a Production order //

Creation of BOM:
1. CS01 -> BOM creation
a. Enter Mtl No., Plant No., BOM Usage (use the value 3), If you wish to keep track of changes, then generate a change number & assign the same to the change number field & also select the date from which you want the BOM to be valid from.
b. Once inside this transaction, add the components which you want along with the qty required.
c. There are more settings which you can do, but for a simple BOM, these entries are sufficient.
d. If you wish to link another BOM with this, enter the mtl nos which has the BOM, this way you can build multi-level BOM's.
2. CA01 -> Routing creation
a. You can create a routing specific to a material or you can have a single routing for multiple materials.
b. If you want to have a routing per material, then enter the mtl nos, Plant, change nos if you want to keep track of changes & the valid from date.
c. You can also have routing specific to a sales document or WBS element.
d. If you wish to have a group routing i.e. a single routing for multiple mtl's which are going to be produced in a similar way, then just enter a name in Group field.
e. Depending on what you select above, different screens open, i would suggest, you try creating one in the sandbox server & post back if you face any problems.
3. CO01 -> Production order creation
a. Once you have created the BOM & routing for the material, then enter the material for which you want to create the production order, enter the production plant & also the order type. If you are not aware of what order type, then please refer to your PP consultant.
b. After making the initial entry & when you press enter, the system automatically reads the BOM & Routing associated with this material.
c. Once again i suggest you create a production order in sandbox server & if you face any issues you can post back.
Also note: You can use CS02, CA02, CO02 for modifications of BOM, Routings & Production orders respectively. CS03, CA03 & CO03 for display.

How to compare sale order bom and production order bom.

i would like to provide report with respect to comparation of sale order bom and production order bom, but i am not familiar with SD and PP, can anyone give me some clue? i only know sale order bom is created via 'CS61', afterwards run mrp to get production order, the process appears complicated, i needn't know the process detail, just want to know how to get sale order bom and relative production order bom. please guide me.

Selection of BOM with Production version

Hello friends,
I have Finish product say A with two alt. BOM and Production Version 1 & 2
i have semi-finish product say B with two alt. BOM 1 and 2 in the BOM of the Product A
Now when i create PIR in MD61 for product A with production version 2 selection,how the system will select the component B
with alternative BOM 2
please suggest

Hi Mangesh,
The production version is selected based on the setting you are maitaining in MRP-4 view for Dependent Requirement Selection Method. The selection will be based on the Validity dates, Quantity i.e. based on the Lot sizes, and based on the production versions.
If both the versions are having same date,lot size etc, then the system will select the first version by default.
IF you do not want any version not to be selected then you can lock that version in MRP-4 view or in C223.

Using RoboHelp for Product Branding

My company wants me to be able to use a single source file to
create different versions of HTML help and printed documentation
for product branding. Is there a way to simply put in a variable
like <product name> or <screen name> in the source
file? Some of our products have ten versions which requires me to
insert 10 different screens. My boss would like to use a variable
and have the program call in the correct product names and screens
for the product branding.
Has anyone used RoboHelp for product branding and is there a
better method?

10 screen shots for each screen! Wow that's alot of work and
maintenance. I have suggested an approach which I coined the phrase
"Screen Portrait". This can provide a generic enough image that can
be suitbale for different brandings and localisations:

Product Branding Image does not appear

Hi,
I created a simple OA page.
Added 'productBranding' to the 'PageLayoutRegion'.
I set the value of Image URI to FNDTAPPBRAND.gif as mentioned in the "Search" Tutorial.
When I run the page,the image does not appear.
Only the image associated with the Corporate Branding apear on the page
How can I solve it?

You need to check the profile FND : Branding Size, if it is set to Regular or Medium we render the product branding image. If it is set to small then you need to define a formatted text which will be displayed to save the space. There are other ways of setting branding, read the Branding information in the dev guide.

Engineering BOM and production BOM-very critical help

I am working for a client and below is the requirement, please guide me.
1) Customer has 2 department here one is engg and other is production as usual.
2) He needs BOMs only for 2 purposes a) For R and D b) Production.
3) He needs any changes in engineering and production to be reflected from certain specified date.
4) He says he will raise ECN for every change.
Now my questions are:
1) How to copy any changes done at later stages from engineering bom to production bom at specified date. Can ECN automatically do this?
2) what are methods to copy any fresh E bom to Production bom also?
3) Can ECN once approved automatically update changes in BOM by itself or does customer cumpolsarily need to take ECN and manually change E bom and then P bom.
Please suggest if any better model can help.

Product branding software

After replacing the systemboard on a HP Elitebook 8460p, on bootup it is asking for product branding software so that the product name and serial number can be inputted to the new system board. Without this I am unable to complete my company build as it requires these fields. Where can I get hold of this software?

I very much doubt you can. This will belong to HP and be pretty guarded if it's what I think it is.
There are ways to get this stuff but not ones I will elaborate on. Suffice to say missing stuff like this gets serious attention from management

BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE and Product Brand

I have a requirement to create a Material Document using a custom Movement type. The issue is the Product Brand in MB1A has been made as a mandaory field by a user-exit. but in the BAPI i am using (BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE) there is no field to pass the Product Brand. So is there any alternative way so that i can create the Material Document with Product Brand.

Behind the BAPI there is a set of 2 FM that used to create and post the Material Document. These FM are the:
MB_CREATE_GOODS_MOVEMENT
MB_POST_GOODS_MOVEMENT
First you should create the material document by using the first FM and then you will post the document by using the second one FM.

Costing for sales order BOM vs Production BOM

can some one please explain in clear how is costing different if we use sales order bom versus if we use production bom.

I Feel Your are asking about Sale order costing and Std cost estimate using production BOM
IN sale order costing- You can use any BOM ( sale BOM or production BOM), IF you carried out costing in sale order level in Va01/Va02, system will read the BOM, routing for that material & system will take the costing lot as sale order qty and carried out cost estimate, This cost estimate value will update In condition as EK02. & system will take this Ek02 price for production GR value, PGI value and the profit is calculated based on Ek02 not based on VPRS( std cost estimate)
Production costing:
System will take the costing lot size in material master costing view, System will read the BOM and routing for the material in Ck11n, And you need to mark and release in Ck24, this value will update as Std cost price in material master, this value is atken for Goods movement for that material

Alternative BOM in Production Order

Hi PP Experts,
I have a small issue which is like this:
I have two Alternative BOM for Material "A".
When I create production order it displays both Alt Bom for selection.
When I select the second Alt BOM, in production order it still reads the First Alt BOM.
Please advice.

Hi Mohan,
I suggest if you have two alternate BOM for a material, you can use the production versions and assign the same for the material in Material Master MRP4 view.
Create Production Versions 01 and 02 and assign the alt BOM 1 for the PV 01 and 02 alt bom for PV 02.
Goto SPRO : Production -> Shop Floor Control -> Define Order type dependent paramters ( Tcode : OPL8) : Define the Production Version Slection either 1 for manual and 2 for automatic. (if you use automatic system will select the version based on the material master selection method )
