DP/SNP certification.

Hi Guys,
This place has been of a lot of help to me before, so I want to thank all of you who answer my questions.
I am beginning to prepare for SAP APO certification for the DP and SNP modules. I have with me  SCM220 and SCM230. Which other material do I need to prepare for the DP/SNP certification? Can anyone tell me any useful websites where I will find information about the material required?
Another question I have is, I am a Master of Science specialized in SCM, how much time should I require to prepare for this certification exam? Can anyone give me a rough estimate?
Thanks a lot.

Hi,
Which country are you taking this certification? Can you send me the link for the course description. The reason why I asked this question is that I did 3.0 certification in US in April and I cannot find it in the list now. SCM 200 (APO overview), SCM 210 (CIF), SCM 220 (DP) and SCM 230 (SNP) are the course materials I read and those are the partof exam. If the exam is changed or the content is changed, you can decide which one to take from this SAP APO DP/SNP (C_SCM3) certified may give you some information.
Having Masters in SCM does help a lot but you infact would be learning the way SAP deals with it. It is difficult to say how long it may take as it depends on the individual. But I for you, I guess, 6 months if the course is about DP, SNP and CIF and about 9 months if the course also includes PPDS.
My sincere suggestion would be to take enough time to get thorough with the content and prepare all the questions and answers given at the end of each unit and then take the exam. Taking the exam in hurry and failing hurts a lot more than a month or two delay.

    Hai,
            I got certified on <a href="http://www50.sap.com/useducation/certification/curriculum.asp?rid=251&vid=5">APO DP/SNP certification</a>.
Just want to give some information to all those who want to take this exam:
The duration of test is 2 hrs. with 60 questions(2 mins. per question)
The questions are divided into 4 areas: General, SNP, Integration(CIF) and DP.
There are very clear instructions right before the test.Your test will only start once you read through all those and click on the icon for entering the exam. Your time starts right then.
The questions are more of conceptual rather than any real world scenarios. Reading through the SAP material for courses SCM 200(needed if you have no knowledge of SAP), SCM 210(DP), 220 (CIF) & 230 (SNP).
It's very helpful to follow SDN posts to understand what you read in books.
There is only one question from Network design that's very easy to answer if you just read the overview of ND in help.sap.com
Upon completion of the course, you will be given the result with details of Pass or Fail, Overall marks, markes scored in each section.
THe pass mark is 70 out of 100.
Finally a tip for all those taking certification: Be thorough with the content at the end of each unit( like exercises, Q&As).
I read through the material and have been following all the posts in SDN. I am really deeply indebted to SDN for the kind of subject I learnt from it. Special thanks for Somnath and Harish.
Guys, please let me know if any one have any questions on certification. I can not post the certification questions but will try to answer your other questions to my best.
    Thanks.

  • Sample Test Paper required for DP, GATP, SNP & PPDS

    Dear Friends,
Please help me with sample test papers for SAP-APO in the area of DP, GATP, SNP & PPDS
    Thanks & regards in advance,
    Rajesh Banka

Yes, I understand it is difficult to provide SAP certification related sample test question.
I am not looking at questions from certification point of view, but for general testing of understanding level.
It would be really helpful, if someone can provide some information.

  • APO Certification

    hi,
i am planning to take certification in mySAP Supply Chain Management – Planning (SCM 4.0) in US.
i want to know how would be the questions look like? is it pure technical configuration like or any scenario based or pure functional based??any certified experts give their views and suggestions about the certification that would be more helpful.
If Any body planning to write certification in APO and any body have any  certification materials for APO pls post it to my mail id [email protected]
    thanks & Regards
    babu.

    Hi Babu,
If you are in India and want to take certification, its not possible, I am afraid and as there is no APO certification at all in India. You have to go out and take it.
Regarding he questions, they are all multiple choice questions and the points assignment is actually pro candidate.
    EX:
    1. What are the types of Planning in SNP?(mark which is false and which is true or mark all correct answers)
    a. Heuristics
    b. MRP
    c. CBF
    d.CTM
    e. Optimizer.
    2. What is the exception in APO called?
    a. warning
    b. Alert
    c. Error
    d. Information
For question1, the answers are a,d and e. Each of the correct answer carries 1 mark. If you get only one right, the final points are 1 and if youget all right its 3.
For question2, there is only one answer. Thats b. so you get only one more if right or else nothing.
The exam in 3hrs and SAP material related to the courses in SAP website is the one to be followed. Donot try to ask for this material and make Somnath lock this thread.
Concerning they are technical or functional, there are all kinds in there. There is also a list of topics in the SAP website that you need to read. The material and the topics in the exam are dependant on the exam you take.
    Hope this helps.

  • Official Training Courses/Certification: SCM 4.0 or 5.0?

I am about to invest some serious time and money into SCM training towards the Planning certification to go along with my professional supply chain management experience (14 years automotive SCM and IT, MBA, but no SAP). I have searched and reviewed the previous threads on the forum regarding the certification process. Thank you all for the insights. But a few more questions...
I am starting from the beginning. What is a better choice for me...SCM 4.0 or 5.0 path? I see the recommended courses are nearly identical. The only difference being:
4.0 lists SCM130 R/3 Planning and Manufacturing and SCM 240 Production Planning
5.0 lists SCM 220 Demand Planning and SCM 230 Supply Network Planning
I can afford to take 3 of those 4 courses along with SCM 200, SCM 212, and SCM 250. Like I said, serious time and serious money.
Being quite new to SAP, I am leaning towards SCM130 to help round out my overall understanding of how SAP manages manufacturing. My other choices would be SCM 220 and SCM 230.
Can anyone offer me some perspective?
    Thank you,
    Brian

I think you should choose the training based on
    a) which part of planning you would be interested in,
    b) what is more relevant and would leverage on your current SCM experience and c) where you see possible projects coming up in the near future
Among the popular areas, On one end is Demand planning and SNP  and on the other end is SNP and PPDS.
Then you have GATP and TPVS which are quite niche and growing in demand
Also you need to consider the fact that PPDS/GATP would need a bit of R3 exposure or knowledge.
I would suggest you start with the DP and SNP and move to PPDS once you are comfortable with these areas.
Or go straight to SNP and PPDS and ignore DP for now (or do it by self learning). if you do so its a good idea to get some idea about Masterdata in R3 and Core interface as well.
I dont really think the version matters except for the sake of certification (which i dont have experience with )
    hope that helps

  • SCM Certification

    Hi ,
I would like to take up SCM Certification. However, I am not sure how to start preparing for the process. Could you please guide me with this ?
    Which books to reference ?
Which sites help in the process ?
Which areas to concentrate on ?
Are there any test sites which help in the process ?
Thanks in advance for your help !
    Regards,
    Ranjini.

    Hi Rajini,
For certification, you need to be thorough with the SAP course material for DP, SNP, PPDS and CIF. It used to be just Dp, SNP and CIF but I think SAP blew this out of proportion by adding PPDS to it.
Please don't ask me how to get the material. You can try your own sources or take those expensive training classes. Please search for courses and exams in the above link that I provided.
If you are planning to take the training classes, I suggest you have an understanding of each component and then go to the class or else you can end up thinking that you understood things there and forget them in days.
I think the secret is to be though with the questions at the end of each chapter in SAP's recent material. They repeat most of the times int he exam.
This forum is an excellent source of knowledge and when I took my certification, I learned only 30% from the books and about 30-40 percent from this forum.
Apart from these, you can try other good book that you can find when you search this forum with the keyword "certification" but really for SAP APO certification, all you need to read is the SAP MATERIAL. That's it... To be able to work is a totally different ball game. I think there is a lot of gap between being certified in APO and being able to work in APO.
Try searching for certification related posts and you will find plenty of them here...I suggest you read through them before asking more questions because I am sure there were so many posts related to certification and they answer almost every question..
If you still have questions, come back here and ask we will be happy to answer.
    Good luck.

    Hi All,
I'm a SD and MM certified consultant with 3 full cycle implementations. I would like to know if it is better to do PP certification or a new dimensional module SRM. I'm not clear on which one to choose. I'm sure to complete APICS certifications.
    Any light on this.

  • APO CERTIFICATION in Mumbai (INDIA)

    Hello Frinds,
I am a SAP PP consultant having experiance of 2.2 years , i am not certified i want to do certification in APO in Mumbai
Please suggest me how to start also give me some institue name in mumbai that Provide Elearning certification
also guide me which is sutable for me -DP,DS,SNP or all we can do at a same time
Please guide me as i dont know abt APO
    Regards
    Girish

    Hi Girish,
You should work on APO first, then it would be easy for certification. In mumbai you can go to any SAP partner institute but those course are costly.
What I suggest you go through the study material (from SAP) and complete the qns-ans session after end of the each session. When you are already experienced in PP, the nit would be easy for you to understand the APO functionality. specially in SNP and PP/DS. However you can choose any module, everthing will be fine for you. But remember you have to face question on DP (20%), SNP(30-40%, PP/DS(30-40%) and CIF(10-20%) when appearing for certification.
Please search this forum for more details on certification.
    Thanks,

  • Creation of SNP planned order based on PDS

    Hi,
I'm a APO developer and I have the following problem:
I would like to create a SNP planned order based on a PDS (like e. g. in the planning book when you input a number into a cell in the "Production (Planned)" line).
Up to now I've only managed to create such an order without using the PDS.
Can you name me a function module which allowes me to do that?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I've now managed to create this kind of order.
I set a breakpoint at the function module /SAPAPO/DM_PROD_ORDER_CHANGE and checked how it was filled in the planning book.

  • Can we use SNP PDS in Multi level ATP ?

    Hi All,
We do CTM planning with existing SNP PDS In APO and now we want to explore to use the Multi level ATP functionality for GATP.  I know, MATP can create the ATP trees if the stock is not available and these can be converted into PPDS order.
My question is, can we use SNP PDS for this purpose?
    Thanks,
    Abhilasha

    Hi Abhilasha,
There is no such specific mention anywhere in the literature that you cannot use SNP PDS for MATP. The only downside to using SNP PDS is that SNP PDS are meant for mid to long term planning and the activities/operations in SNP PDS are usually not in detail i.e only important activities or bottle neck components are usually used which will not always facilitate detailed scheduling.
On the other hand MATP creates ATP tree structures by plan exlosion(which can be SNP/PDS) and saves the requirements groups(component requirements of header level) with dates/qts and source of supply. It uses PPDS component to convert these ATP tree structures into PPDS planned orders depending on the conversion horizon/requirements dates. It does that by reading the source of supply, requirements dates and quantities from ATP tree structure and by plan explosion.
When MATP planned orders are created you should no longer plan them with automatic planning run as that will cause re-explosion of the plan and might cause incorrect down stream requirements if you had had substitutions at component leve during MATP check. In planned orders, you have an option of changing the allowed sources of supply (in source of supply section). But for orders created by MATP, you will not be allowed to change the source of supply field from SNP PDS to PPDS PDS in the planned order because it will re-explode the plan. So you can decide for yourself if you can use SNP PDS as source of supply for PPDS planned orders.
    Hope that answers your question.
    Regards,
    Mohan

  • Master recipes operations not getting transfered in SNP PDS to APO from R3

    Hello APO Gurus,
I am trying to transfer SNP PDS for master receipes from R3 to APO.
    Issue description::
The operation is not getting transfered correctly , some system default operation "010 generated Operation (from Planned Delive)" is getting generated in APO, also activity and resource capacity is not getting transfered. This situation exist for one plant 1000, for other plant 1100 the SNP PDS created correctly.
    i have following points:
    1. Is there some customizing setting missing on R3 or APO side  for plant 1000 tbefore SNP PDS transfer
    2. What need to be checked on master recipes data in R3,
i have checked on below points
    1. FG Materials and all the Component Material to be in APO in a Active Integration Model.
    2. BOM & Routing and Production Version setup correctly.
    3. The Routing Operations have to Relevant to 'SCHEDULING'.
    4. Try deleting the existing Integration model for materials & re-create new IM & activate.
Please help me to send SNP PDS correctly to APO to take heuristic run.

    Hi,
It is good that you have given your already checked points.
Please check the following things also and try to retransfer the PDS.
    1. Check your resource in ECC, whether you have maintained the Process formula.
    2. Check you have maintained some values in Master Recipe for processing time
    3. Check whether the resource has been transferred for your plant 1000 to APO and an active IM exists.
    4. Also check the type of the resource transferred to APO. It should be a single-mixed/ multi-mixed or bucket resource.
Hope this will help you to solve the issue.
    Regards,
    Manimaran M.

    Dear All.
I need to up load data from excel to snp. is their any bapi or function module.

    Hello,
If you are using SCM 5.0 or above version you can load the data from Excel to SNP in two steps.
    1. Load the data from excel to infocube with normal process.
    2. Load the data from infocube to SNP by transaction /SAPAPO/REL_TO_SNP
    Hope this helps.
