DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION - I'm very tired of this thing

Hello.
I'm tired of seeing this error everytime I start working with a certain application. I don't want to remove the application, so is there a way around this? I just want to stop the error from ever happening
again.

The most recent 3 crashes were Related to
Apfiltr.sys Alps Pointing-device Driver.  Yours is 3 years old.  I would install the newest driver available and if you continue to crash I would run driver verifier to find the underlying issue
Please run this test to find which driver is causing the problem.  
If you are overclocking (pushing the components beyond their design) you should revert to default at least until the crashing is solved. If you don't
know what it is you probably are not overclocking.

  • Starting to get very tired of this problem!!

    From version "Firefox 3.6.4 and up to 3.6.8" I can not open "Tools-settings". Firefox locks up totally and will not create any crash report.I have started in Safe Mode and disabled all plugins, the error is still there. I have made a completely new installation, first I removed all of the Mozilla, Firefox and plugins in "My Documents ...." and the "Program Folder", the error is still there.I disabled all my security software and tested Firefox, the error is still there. Now I'm back to "Firefox 3.6.3" and everything works perfectly. I do not want to install "Firefox 3.5.10". What have you done with Firefox 3.6.4 and up because it is so much trouble? Have never had a problem from Firefox 3.6.3 and lower versions.
    Give me absolutely no links to pages that I can read the troubleshooting, I've already followed these.
    Can not open "settings".
    What should I do to fix this problem?

  • Very Tired Of This...Need Help With Startup

    I had the original iPod 2g that came out awhile ago, everything worked fine. I got that stolen from me and just recently bought a Pod Classic 80gb and I cant get my computer to even recognize it exists. I've tried updating to the newest version of iPod and the installwizard never finishes. It says that it ran into an "unexpected error" and to just try again later. It said that Quicktime didnt install either (I already have Quicktime installed) and that iTunes needs it to run. This is like my 4th iPod and my 2nd one today, I have no clue why I keep running into these problem. I bought the Zune earlier to day but thats way more of a headache than the iPods are...if I could ever get it to work.
    Point is, I have to wait at the DMV for about 6hrs later on today and was hoping to have this working by then. $300 isnt cheap and so far all i've managed to do is run my battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Edit: The Message says "The installer has encountered an unexpected error with the package. The error code is 2330." Then it does its "Rollback" action. Then I get the error message for Quicktime. Then it gives me a summary saying that such and such failed, and that I can try again at a later time. Hope that helps.

    What you can do (I think) is when in iTunes, go to File and select to Export your library. You should be able to save it somewhere and upload it later on if it ever did crash or get deleted.
    I was planning on exporting my files, then just removing iTunes altogether. ThenI was going to go back and reinstall it, hoping that evertyhing would be reset but. I think I just realized that my main problem right now is that my computer doesnt recognize that I even have an iPod plugged in. I've tried all of my USB ports and I never get the pop-up message, nor do I see i in My Computer. If I could get the cpu to recognize it, I may be able to solve the problem myself.
    but as for you Vanimal, you may want to try a 3rd party such as Xplay. I just installed that and its pretty helpful with troubleshooting but again, I cant even get my iPod to communicate with the computer so it's of no use to me. If all else fails, go with Xplay and just use that from now on.
    If anybody has any info on how to get my iPod recognized by my CPU, I'd greatly appreciate it.

    For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices. 
    That all works.
    It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now.  They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
    I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

  • How can I upload my photos from an sd card to my Macbook Pro? I have done everything I know to do, and yet it still doens't work, I am frustrated and ready to sell this thing.

    I am so frustated with this computer, I cannot get it to do anything. I have read all the forums about moving photos from an sd card to this computer and nothing is working..Can anyone please help me before I sell this thing?

    put the card in the card reader, open the card (it should appear on your desktop) select the photos you want to copy and drag them to where ever you want to store them, or copy and paste them.  it is exceedingly simple.
    alternately open image capture and select the card from the list of devices and import them from there.  again very easy.

    OK, does anyone else think this thing is worth the money? A Verizon plan with unlimited data costs me and my wife almost $200 monthly and here's a brief list of issues:
    First of all, Desktop Manger hates Mac computers. Media Sync doesn't work at all. It opens iPhoto for no reason, and can't see any of my iTunes content. But just read the RIM propaganda about how it seamlessly works with all your content.
    The browser experience is nearly useless, even after trying everone's tips to optimize it, and you can't specify any other browser as the default. I have apps like Kayak for browsing flight and hotel info, but good luck trying to book something from your phone. I can't even get movie tickets reliably because the browser interface is painfully slow and hangs up constantly. It's like dial-up on a postage stamp screen.
    Tiny screen, and the $%#@ trackball is maddening! I'm sure the trackpad is better, but I guess we got the version just before it was released.
    Just tried to remove a couple of useless apps via Desktop Manager and the process literally took over 50 minutes to remove them, during which time the phone can't be used. Then another 10 minutes to restart, then it starts to sync all over again and my wallpaper, custom ringtones and more are JUST PLAIN GONE!
    I could go on all day, but here's the thing that I can't believe:
    I got all excited about the Torch. Great independent reviews, full touch-screen experience plus a physical keyboard, etc.
    The catch? AT&T ONLY! Simply can't have one if you have Verizon. I've been holding out on chucking this brick for an iPhone because of the AT&T monopoly, but I'm just about ready to bite the bullet because this device is nearly useless for anything but phone calls & email.
    Anybody else ready to microwave this burrito?

    I don't know what you're doing to need unlimited data. I use the internet on mine all the time and have not even come close to my 500MB data.
    As for the browser, go to the Opera website and download Opera Mini. The zooming is a bit strange, but no huge hurtle. It helped me access some sites that I couldn't with the BlackBerry browser. You can have the BB browser identify as Firefox or IE. It's in Browser Configuration in the Options category. 
    Try to uninstall and reinstall Desktop Manager. If you're using version 6.0, try 5.0 and vice versa. 
    I have had very, very few problems with my trackball. I've had my phone for a year. If it's sticky or not rolling correctly, run it over some newspaper. The screen is larger than some other BBs. 
    You can remove apps right from the phone. It shouldn't take that long. Go to the options and applications and delete it. 
    Always back up your phone before you change anything. If something is gone, then you can just back up your phone and try again. I don't know what all is syncing that shouldn't be. You should not have to reload things after deleting an app. You could back up your phone, then wipe it and start over, as other more tech savvy people have mentioned. 
    If you're really that unhappy and want to get an iPhone, though I have no idea why you'd want one, then just do it. No sense in being miserable. Perhaps you just have a defective phone. 

  • ITunes wont recognize ATV. I'm so tired of this. Any advice?

    Ok. I am so tired of this issue. I can't tell if I am missing something obvious. Please give me a dummy slap if I am.
    1. MacBook Pro connected to a network with an ATV connected by ethernet. Works fine, although it took weeks to get it to work the first time.
    2.I go away for two weeks with my MacBook Pro and while away we lose power for two days.
    3. Come back and the ATV doesn't appear in iTunes.
    4. I go to start checking everything and as I turn the tv to ATV screen, the ATV happily tells me there is a software update. I update. Still doesn't appear.
    5. I follow ALL the advice in the faq, except reinstall iTunes. I have version 7.7.1 (11). I even reset(twice) the ATV and restore the settings to the factory defaults twice. The ATV happily connects to mobile me and YouTube and the rest of the outside world.
    6. Recheck ALL settings.
    7. Reauthorize my computer.
    8. Restart the computer three times.
    9. Check all my router settings.
    10. Check that a firewall isn't a problem.
    11. Use my wife's iTunes and it doesn't see the ATV either.
    Please do not be too patronizing, but please suggest the obvious if you think I am missing something. I think, think is all, that I have tried everything and yet it still doesn't show up.
    Is there a point when you give up? The last time i did this, I tried and tried for weeks and it wasn't until I updated the software that it worked but everything I have is up to date.
    Yes, I know I didn't reinstall iTunes but you know what? This is the same iTunes I had before and it worked then. reinstalling would be a nightmare for me and I don't think that is it. Really.
    I am overtired, I know, and probably a bit impatient, but it just seems to me that given how easily Apple products connect to the world, the ATV should at least be seen. You see, that is just it. If it were seen, and didn't work, I could accept it without complaint because it would be some weird complicated issue within the operation of the device. This is just a case of it not being seen. I can't even get it to be seen for a really complicated problem to crop up.

    I don't think you are missing something obvious at all, there have been a number of people since the outset of the tv that have had issues with the tv not being seen or disappearing when it is seen. 's philosophy of keeping everything pretty much in house has given them many advantages over their competitors over the years but it seems that when they are forced to work with 3rd party technologies, the 'it just works' factor isn't always there.
    Unfortunately because of your circumstances you are not in a position to pinpoint the cause of your problem, indeed it could simply be a reoccurrence of the issue you resolved the first time. Then you could just as easily be a victim of the power outage, do you know why it occurred, could there have been a power surge either as it went off or as it came back on, could it have happened while the drive was being written to. etc., etc.
    Some people have run into this problem after updating their software to v 2.1, but there are no more reports of this problem following this upgrade than there have been for other upgrades including itunes upgrades and in any case you seem to indicate that the problem actually started before you did the upgrade.
    You seem to have tried a lot of the things suggested over a period of time and I wonder if you should be considering setting up the router, the network and tv from scratch.

    littlechuga40oz If you're only going to be gone for a short period of time, and your package ships via FedEx, you can request a vacation hold once you receive your tracking information.  I don't know about UPS but I'm sure they'd have something similar to what FedEx does. @

  • This thing is becoming a veritable nightmare to me, the MOM !!!!!

    Hi there all of you expert pod users, as you can most likely tell, I am the mother of two very proud ipod nano first timers!!! Jolly ol' St. Nick was overly generous this year and had to bring two, which in essence to me, the MOM, means twice the nightmare, twice the problems, and twice the $$$$$$ for the extras involved, okay, now my problem--
    When i installed the disk that came with it, everything went ok, surprisingly to myself, who is NOT computer savvy at all. OK, now when we got the itunes lists downloaded or whatever you call it, into the pods themselves, soon after the battery went quite low and we had to "recharge", alright, now there is a small symbol on the pod screen saying "do not disconnect".....our problem is when is it safe to disconnect this thing, and how do you do it properly??? I have read and read and re-read those instructions and have come up with nothing that resembles a symbol such as what they are telling me to find in my "source list" I actually just took the USB port out manually even though it still said "do not disconnect" What is the appropriate manner in which we should be doing this???--can someone please help me, my hair is already slightly graying and I really don't need it to become totally gray over an ipod----please please please help me

    The "Do Not Disconnect" and the symbol that you are seeing means that the song/photo files are being transferred or, it is connected to the computer and being charged. If you look in iTunes "Source" window and see the iPod icon flashing, that means that files are being transferred. Once it stops flashing, you can eject the iPod by pressing the eject next to the iPod icon.

    I should also mention that for first time use, charge the nano for at least 3 hours or more.

  • What is wrong with this thing?

    Well, I was a very happy iMac user until late May when I suddenly started to get kernel panics every 15 minutes (without any added hardware/software), since then it's been repaired twice, first they swapped the RAM stick and since that didn't fix anything, the next time they swapped the motherboard. All was perfectly fine for few days, until this thing started to freeze with a very loud fan noise, it happens pretty much every day very randomly.
    Things I've tried: reset PRAM, reset SMU, repair permissions, run the CRON scripts, update prebinding, resetting stuff in Open Firmware, run fsck, repair disk... then finally I tried re-installing Tiger using the Erase and Install-option, but my machine froze during the installation as well. Hardware Test has frozen a couple of times too, but when it finally did make through all the tests, it found nothing wrong.
    Only thing I have plugged into it are the Apple keyboard and Mighty Mouse.
    Is there anything I could do? I'm asking just in case since it was a such a hassle getting this machine repaired twice in few weeks since I have no car LOL How many times do I need to get it repaired until I get a replacement? Frankly, I'm getting fed up with this machine. I paid nearly 2000 euros for it, I expect it to last a bit longer than 6 months...

    There are a couple of things that could be wrong old kaka,
    your replaced motherboard might be failing (it happens more than you think)or your Power Supply Unit could be on its way out (even more likely). Since you are clearly still under warranty, call Apple and make loud, but polite noises. In the long run, they should probably swop your machine out for a new one, but they will probably try for one last repair. In the meantime, please make sure that you have backed up and made a bootable clone of your HD, I use SuperDuper!, it's easy and accurate.
    By the way, when you repaired permissions, was your S.M.A.R.T. status verified?
    One more thing, buy AppleCare now, before your first year of ownership runs out.

    Well, thanks for feeling with me, patkosanke ... AND for your wise advice.
    I did followed your advice immediately and erased all the service number as well as S/Ns.
    Can you, however, give me any "direct number" through which I can get hold of someone and request for what you're suggesting?
    I believe I had talked with the person by the name of "Charlie" (I think... I hope I'm correct...) when I was having the same problem with the last device. He was very kind and helpful, though I ended up getting the device that brought the same problem.
    Charlie told me that if I had any more problems I should call him. But I forgot to take down his direct number.
    Or maybe I should call the main office and ask for him. But my memory is questionable as to his name, and besides I don't even know his last name either. There could be more than one "Charlies" in Palm.
    So, if you could somehow email me some direct number (other than the one that keeps on hooking me up with those people in the overseas who are answering the phone only to sympathize with & apologize to me but can only issue a false hope with the SRO#. More than once I was given the promise that the supervisor would call me back within an hour or two but I ended up calling back after I had been left hanging in the air all night long.) where I can talk to someone like I did with Charlie last time who can truly carry out the promise, I would truly appreciate it, patkosanke. ^^

    As noted above, If you have access to your computer. But that is a Very Bad Idea. That is how passwords get forgotten especially when you need to remember it.
    What you don't like typing in a few letters when you start you computer? That also opens up the system from anyone walking buy and turn it on. It give them full acces to your private files.
    Whatever.

  • Automator, cool icon but will I EVER use this thing?

    Hello all I am only a few months into my first mac and use it pretty much just for work so I am still very lost in it.
    But when I click on my apps, its quite difficult to find what I want sometimes with all of these icons.
    So I would like to weed through some of them and since I dont recognize the vast majority I was hoping some people here would help me in spotting the ones that are never used?
    For example, automator, cool icon, cool idea, but will I ever use this thing?
    Garage band too, I love the guitar lessons, so I have kept it up until now, but just like my guitar, it just kinda sits there collecting dust...
    Photo booth and Front Row... ???? is there any point to these two?
    Any input appreciated!

    Is it possible to replace this "generic" folder icon with the "real" applications folder icon?
    Long story short, can I change the dock icons to how I would like em?
    Find an icon you like.
    Select the file with that icon (single click in the Finder)
    Command-I (Finder -> File -> Get Info)
    Click on the icon in the Get Info window (it should highlight)
    Command-C (Finder -> Edit -> Copy)
    You now have a copy of the icon you want
    Find your Folder of aliases (the one in your home directory, not the Dock)
    Select the folder (Single Click in the Finder)
    Command-I (Finder -> File -> Get Info)
    Click on the icon in the Get Info window (it should highlight)
    Command-V (Finder -> Edit -> Paste)
    The Folder should now have the new icon
    In the Dock drag the folder off the Dock (it should go Poof with a cloud smoke)
    Drag the real Folder with the new icon on to the Dock, it should have the new icon.
    Control-Click on the Folder in the Dock. That should allow you to customize the behavior of the Dock folder (list, grid, fan-out).
