in the beta-programm was it possible > its very useful to test the app

The Product ID doesn't matter for free folios. It only matters if you'll charge money for the folio at some point. We recommend the "reverse DNS" naming approach: com.publisher.magazine.issuename, such as com.adobe.indesignweekly.2012january.
Why do you want the .zip file? That's useful only for creating Single Edition viewers.

I can create seperate audio and video files ok, but not a single file?

You won't be able to do this with just FCPX by itself. You should be able to use Compressor to do this, or you can use Quicktime Pro to create a single .mov file from the separate video/audio files exported from FCPX.
If you use Compressor, you can save the preset and make it available inside FCPX for future use.

InDesign export to single PDF files with variable Filename

Hi there, I create a document with Data Merge which contains about 200 Pages. Now i want to export each page to a single PDF-File. Also the filename has to be generated from the placed content. The placed content are adresses. So i want to generate a filename with a static name. I got an ID, a static phrase and then a ZIP-Code. The Filename should look like this: <ID>September<ZIP Code>.pdf while ID and ZIP Code are fields from the datamerge.

Single Folio Apps: No Bookmarks and Social Sharing

I was just reading on DPS Help that Single Folio Apps don't support Bookmarks or Social Sharing. Does that mean that if I have Bookmarks linking to pages within my folio, they won't work? I know it looks like my question is answered in first statement, but I'm really hoping I'm not understanding something.
I have Hyperlinks in my TOC linking to bookmarks in the folio.
I don't know what Social Sharing exaclty is, so I don't think it'll affect me.

The term "bookmarks" means two different things in InDesign/DPS. There is the bookmarks feature in InDesign that links to other parts of the document when you view a PDF document, and there is the bookmarks feature in DPS in which you can add your favorite articles to the list of favorites. The PDF bookmarks aren't supported in DPS. The DPS bookmarks ("favorites") feature is supported. Here's a description.
BookmarksIf you enable bookmarks in Viewer Builder, customers can mark an article as a bookmark and then choose that bookmark from a drop-down menu in the nav bar to jump to the bookmarked article. Bookmarks work across multiple folios within the same viewer app.

When you say that you have hyperlinks in your TOC linking to bookmarks in the folio, what kind of bookmark are you referring to?

Create single .folio file for desktop viewing

I need a bit of help here please. We are currently on issue 2 of our iPad magazine: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/absolute-photo-magazine/id719597521?mt=8
We are trying to create a version of our app that Advertisers can view on all platforms (iPad & Desktop). What we have done is created a delegate account and from the folio builder panel, we have shared the specific folio with that delegate and emailed the login credentials to certain advertisers. This allows them to view it using Content viewer on an iPad.
I am also trying to export the .folio file in order to send this out to specific people to view using Content Viewer on desktop (PC & MAC). In the example here http://www.e3zine.com/desktopviewer.html there is a single .folio file but when I use the export function within the Publishing Suite it exports a zip file which contains all articles as individual .folio files. Is there any way of exporting this folio as one single .folio file?

Thanks for your response. I will try the solution for windows users. However, for Mac desktop users this is supported by DPS as shown in this example:

I have been able to export my published folio from the publishing suite into a zip folder on my desktop which contains a series of .folio files that are all viewable within content viewer for desktop. The question is how to create one single .folio file like in the example rather than a series of .folio files?

Single Folio with DPS Pro?

I'm a designer working for a client. We alreayd have bought the DPS Profesional. But this new client doesn't need a kiosco or In App purchases, he just want to upload a single folio app and update it 4 times a year. Can I do it with my Professional DPS? And, sorry, even other question: Does it make a problem to update 4 times a year the app in the Apple Store? I know that is a business of Apple, but you might now if is a normal stuff...

I would like to create a single folio app for iOS( iPad-iphone) and android devices that it will be free of charge.
i know that single folio app can be created for iOS and in that case there is charge for folio fulfillment.Is that correct?
For android version can i create a single folio app?As i have see i think that this is not possible.Is that correct?In that case is there anything else that i could do?For example if i create a multi folio app and i upload only one folio will this work?In that case does the charge for folio fulfillment exist?

Single edition apps are iPad only and do not incur a download charge. For Android you need to create a multifolio app even if it will contain only a single folio.

Export failed in Folio Producer

I'm having repeated export failure in Folio PRoducer on a folio that I've already exported 4 times with no problems. I can't figure out what is different since there was a minor fix, then I updated, and now it won't export. the message is just "An error has occured while exporting the folio."
any ideas for what I might do to get past this??

I've exported this folio and built an iPad single viewer app just yesterday.
The folio is changhed, but we made only some minor changes like text correction.
There is no problem to view this new folio on the Adobe viewer
The download of the zip file doesn't start, but the error message is generic.

Adobe engineering has looked into this and found that the server queues appear to be functioning properly at this point. I’ve also tried export from test accounts and seen it succeed. Thus we are not encountering the same problem as we were a few days ago.
Can you provide specifics of the error or failure you are receiving?
Have you successfully exported this folio previously? Have you made changes since?
Are you able to preview the folio without warning messages?

Single Folio with HTMLResources

Hello:
I've created a single folio publication but the Folio Producer wasn't able to export the HTMLResources.zip file that I use to show more information..
The questions are:
1.- Is it possible to use the HTMLResources.zip file with the export .zip file form the DistribtuionServer?
2.- Is there any other way to generate that .zip file to compile it with the Viewer Builder?
3.- If I export the .zip file from the Distribution Server, can I add the HTMLResources.zip file into it or I have to add the folder with all the data and then zip it again?

Hello Bob.... Unfortunately, the HTMLResources.zip wasn't exported from the distribution server in the .zip file I used to compile it on the viewer builder like Single Edition... Is there any other way to add it when downloading the .zip file?

Single Folio App

I currently have a "single-folio app" for the iPhone 3GS. It was created with AppMakr and I want to move this process to the DPS system and expand into the iPad and iPhone versions SD and HD... The App is live and out of date with Apple...
1. Do I need to create 2 separate builds in the DPS App Builder - one for the iPhone, one for the iPad ??
2. Can I have all these renditions exist under the same app within Apple ??
This app will be portrait only. From a design perspective, how are my inDesign CS6 files structured... ??
I am used to building multi-folio with subscription apps...

DPS doesn't support single-folio apps for the iPhone. If you want to create DPS content for the iPhone, you need to create a multi-folio app. When you click Create in DPS App Builder, you specify iOS and select both iPhone and iPad. You create folio renditions for the iPad and iPhone. See this article:

Download fees for a single folio using a professional edition

Hey guys,
we are releasing a free monthly online magazine in the coming month, at first we considered the single edition option because of its 0$ download fees. the down side was that it wouldn’t allow us to be available in the android market or on the IPhone.
my question is, is it true that i will not be charged for downloads if i only have one folio published using a professional account?
(note that we don’t have a problem un-publishing a previous issue to download a new one.)
another question, is DPS available to purchase from the middle east, if not can i use an offshore account to purchase it.

Could you please elaborate on that? From the above, it would read that a professional subscription can publish several single folio apps, without incurring download fees from Adobe. Presumably with the one-off annual fee and, if I understand correctly, without paying multiple Single Edition fees.

Is it possible to copy or export metadata from Folio Producer?

Hi,
Is it possible to copy or export metadata from one issue in Folio Producer and import/apply it to a different issue in Folio Producer? Or create a master metadata template that every issue build could use? It would save a lot of time and typing not having to re-enter the same information every month when releasing the next issue for departments, bylines, etc.

Do you know when exporting metadata from Folio Producer will be available, and will it export directly to another rendition, or would it export to a sidecar.xml file?
The workflow my team prefers is to build our 1024x768 folio first, add metadata via Properties in the Folio Builder as we add articles, share the folio with editors and advertising sales, make edits and updates, then when all content is approved, create the 2048x1536 rendition folio using multiple importing of articles.
Having the ability to export from an existing folio in Folio Producer would save tons of tedious copying/pasting to get a sidecar.xml.
Hopefully when this becomes available you'll have a big announcement. (Please?)

Three questions about a single-folio publication

We are finishing our first publication with DPS.
We have a Adobe DPS Professional Edition, Annual version.
1- I have been planning to launch the App in iPad and Android for free and in three days to put the price at $9,00. Is that possible?
2 - How much time needs Apple to approve our appliction?
3- I have read that you can't publish a single folio app in Android. Why?
What is the option

On android a .apk app is limited to 50 mb. Additional Content up to 4GB can
be loaded by the app on its first start.
This need a change in workflow for the android version on the viewer side.
And it may be political, too.

Helo! I've created a Single Folio app with 1526 articles.
It works in the generic Adobe Content Viewer, but does not work on my custom App.
It shutdowns after splash window.
Could someone help me?

Changing settings? What part of setting?
My guess is that if you have so many articles, and each article need some particular files in the .folio file, then the Viewer make a mistake trying load all files in the same moment, causing auto shutdown. And, I'm using the iPad 3 to test it.
So, would be fine if someone could give me numbers about the maximum number of articles suggested to put in a Folio Issue.
And yes, I'm publishing the Bible!

Angular DPS Event for after Folios load

Greetings,
I'm really new to the Adobe DPS customization process. I am using the AngularJS based files for iOS and Android devices. I am trying to make the folios display as a carousel in my custom landing page, but it seems that no matter where I put my function to do this, it is before the folios are totally repeated. It seems that

Is not rendering completely before I call the function.
I have no problem actually creating the carousel with static content. Only based on the .folio-item-views. I've tried it after init() and also tried it after all folios have been pushed in the updateLibraryHandler. I'm at a loss. I was able to get this working with the Backbone approach, but I had to switch to Angular since Android won't support the backbone library.
Any thoughts would be great!
