DPS for local iPad (non app store) delivery
I cannot work out the Digital Publishing Suite. I have a need to create presentations for people to deliver on iPads. No app store involved (ie. nothing commercial) and no distribution of any kind is required. Just glorified Keynote-type presentations if you will but obviously InDesign generated. Epub doesn't cut it in terms of design... PDF would be perfect, but embedded video wont work. Are you really saying I need to pay $600 a month? I am gobsmacked...
No, you do not need to subscribe to a service to achieve this. You can create and share content for free to people who have a free adobeID.
Within the InDesign Folio Builder Palette you choose share and enter the IDs to share with and click invite.
The person viewing needs to download the free Adobe Folio Viewer and sign in to it with their free adobe ID. They will see your shared content available and they can download it and view it and show it to their hearts content. This is the same for iPad, Android and I guess Blackberry when the viewer ships.
If you as the publisher want to have more than one published folio then you will need to upgrade your http://www.acrobat.com account which is chargeable depending on how many you need to publish, 1 for free, upto 20 workspaces (folios) for £115 or unlimited (£237). It doesn't show me the price in USD.

Search the Apple Store, there are many many words games in the style of Scarbble, inluding Scrabble itself. What rules they have and what types of words they allow Is hard to say. But you can download some free versions and try them out to see how they play, and what they allow.

How come there are no hidden objects games in the South African App Store and y does safari not allow you to get it downloaded from the net. There are only games for kids in the App Store. Can anyone help. Is the South African apple ipad only for children
Nobody here is responsible for what is or is not available in any country. I believe it is a software licensing thing.

Thank you for your responses.. To Sjazbec, At least you guys in Germany and the Netherlands have some kind of posters from Apple to let you know that the feature is not available.
There is no such warning on the Irish Apple site.!
My point was that, I would not have even considered trying to reorganize my itunes library had I known that the feature is not available in Ireland.
And that falls into the domain of Apple Ireland advertising.. which I"m sorry to say is false and misleading.
There are no "posters" telling the Irish customer that icloud / itunes music is not available!
I"m not blaming Apple for not "having the feature" in Ireland.. I am upset at them for falsing advertising a feature that they cannot for whatever reason deliver to Irish customers..

How to recover non-app-store Software?
I am trying to restore my iMac to the factory settings. Currently it is running the latest version of OS X Mountain Lion.
Here's the problem. I have a bunch of Non-Mac App Store Software installed in it and I wonder how am I giong to restore them after the system reinstall. I know there should be no problem with App Store purchases as I can D/L them later. Would non App Store S/W work if I copied them to a different external drive and then copied them back after system reinstall?Archive your existing system: Use Time Machine to back up or "clone" your existing system to another volume, using Carbon Copy Cloner or equivalent utility.
Restore your iMac to factory settings using its original System Install DVD or OS X Recovery whichever is applicable.
Using Setup Assistant, migrate your archived User Accounts and Applications to the restored iMac.
This will ensure the complete transfer of your previously licensed software.
Following that, upgrade your iMac to Mountain Lion using the same Apple ID used to purchase it. You do not have to pay for it again. -

Sorry, you will need to purchase the iPhone version. The Mac version will not work in the iPhone or iPad.

I changed my Apple ID to my new email address successfully for the iTunes and App store but it won't work for iCloud and it won't recognize my password. I read that this can't be done. How am I supposed to get into iCloud? I plan on getting rid of my old email address which is my old Apple ID so how is that going to work?

I changed my Apple ID to my new email and now cannot find any way to access icloud. Unfortunately I had allowed icloud to hijack my airbook files, so of course I am afraid I will lose them tomorrow when I exchange my iphone for a new one and cannot keep an icloud account i cannot access. The recommended solution for most families is to share the same Apple ID for iTunes and App Store purchases, so you can share your purchases, but us different IDs for iMessage, FaceTime and iCloud. With this arrangement, each person can automatically download purchases made on the shared ID (by turning this feature on in Settings>iTunes & App Stores), while keeping their FaceTime calls, text messages and iCloud data (including photo stream) separated. There is no requirement that the ID you use for purchasing be the same as the ID you use for these other services.

Non app store items not showing up in launchpad
Non-App store apps located in the Applications folder are not showing up in Launchpad (Example: Pixelmator).
There's more than one page to Launchpad. It seems that anything you install on your own will go to page 2 or later. You can easily move them to the first page by draggin them around.

Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

If you check for software updates using the App Store in OS X 10.8 and get "NSURLErrorDomain error -1100" the problem may be with your Software Update preferences. This is particularly likely if you were using a custom Apple Software Update server. To solve the problem, quit the App Store, move the following two files (if present) to the trash, restart, and only then rerun App Store updates:
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist

I was recently trying to upgrade to mountain lion through the app store. I have unreliable Internet from a cable company whom I will not name, but we all know who they are. My Internet dropped while downloading the upgrade. Once I went through the notorious unplug the modem/router and plugged it back in to gain Internet connectivity again, I could not resume. No matter what I did, the app store kept displaying "an error occurred." I am hoping that those with the same issue read this first to save them hours of skimming through the Internet to find a solution. Here are the steps to take:
1. Make sure you have reestablished Internet connection
2. Chances are you got frustrated when you tried to resume/unpause the download and clicked the "X" to the left. If so, select the "Store" drop-down menu from the App Store and select "View My Account." There should be an option to unhide your purchase. You know what to do.
3. There is also an option to reset all warnings for buying and downloading under "View My Account." Do this, click "Done," sign out of the App Store and quit the App Store.
4. Open the Preferences in safari and select Privacy. Select "Remove All Website Data." Just do it.
5. Launch the app store and sign in.
6. Now, if you "Check for Unfinished Downloads" everything works peachy.
I hope this helps. Not much I can do for your Internet connection though.

I have had my MacBook for 5 years and ever since upgrading to the new system which added the App Store to my computer, I have been curious about the difference between the iPhoto that came pre-downloaded when I purchased my computer 5 years ago and the iPhoto available for purchase on the App Store. What makes the iPhoto from the App Store so different that I have to pay $15 for it, when I already have it for free on my computer?
Lots and lots of new features - and since you have upgraded to Mavericks much better operation
For information on what has changed there are many. many reviews on the web as well os a writup on the App store recapping the new features of the latest version vs the previous version
as to your choice - totally personal - do or don't - you choose - it does no involve anyone here in any way
