DPS Multifolio App on Windows Platform (Corporate/Private Distribution)

Dear all,
our company is about to use private distribution platform with DPS.
as I am pretty sure about the workflow with Ipad/Apple devices... it's a bit more blury with Windows.
First is it possible for our Adobe rep to build a Windows Multifolio application (for W8.1) that will connect to our fulfillement server ? (just like the IOS app will)
If yes, does it mean we'll get an application we might install on our windows devices ?
Thanks a lot your answers.
Regards.

Thanks Neil,
yes (sorry for my french) we will setup direct entitlement (something like this, also seen last year with Klaasjan Tukker)
I wonder then if the Windows multifolio app you will build will also be able to connect the server for authentication?

  • Creating private apps for Windows

    Dear DPS Community
I would like to create Windows App and distribute this app internally.
I only found this information on Adobe's website:
    Creating private apps for Windows
Microsoft has two requirements for enterprise deployment of Windows Store apps:
The app's device must be joined to a domain.
The certificate used to sign the .appx must be in the trusted list of certificates on the device.
The .appxbundle file provided by DPS App Builder is signed for submission to Windows Store. For enterprise deployment, you might need to re-sign the .appxbundle and its contents with your own enterprise certificate. Contact your Adobe representative for more information. For distribution of the app file, use any supported Microsoft method. You can even use a simple command-line method.
Where can I find further informations? Is there a companion guide for windows out there?
    Thanks for your help.
    - Cindy

Microsoft’s guide for enterprise distribution of Windows Store apps is at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh852635.aspx. There's nothing special about DPS apps that makes them different from a distribution standpoint than any other Windows Store app, and the Microsoft guide is the go-to reference for how to do enterprise deployment of Store apps.
Note that the DPS apps downloaded from App Builder are self-signed with an untrusted certificate. Most enterprises will likely have their own corporate certificate they’d prefer to use instead. To re-sign the DPS app:
    Unpack the bundle using makeappx
    makeappx.exe unbundle /p viewerpackage.appxbundle /d unpacked_directory
    makeappx.exe bundle /d unpacked_directory /p resigned_viewer_package.appxbundle
    signtool.exe sign /fd sha256 /f enterprisekey.pfx resigned_viewer_package.appxbundle
    Go into unpacked_directory
Sign both .appx files using signtool
    signtool.exe sign /fd sha256 /f enterprisekey.pfx viewer_x86.appx
    signtool.exe sign /fd sha256 /f enterprisekey.pfx viewer_ARM.appx
    Re-pack the bundle using makeappx
    Sign the .appxbundle using signtoolsigntool.exe sign /fd sha256 /f enterprisekey.pfx resigned_viewer_package.appxbundle

  • When I open a separate window and start private browsing my main window closes and I lose all of my app tabs

whenever I open a new window and do private browsing it closes my main window and I loose all of my app tabs. If this is functioning as designed then it is a flaw in the design.

It is designed that way. When you stop private browsing, all of your other tabs will come back.

  • Help needed, DPS iPad app private distribution

    Hi all.
I need some help. I have built a single edition iPad app that is a training manual that my client needs to distribute only to customers that have bought a training course. So the app needs to be distributed privately.
Will this work if my client buys a volume purchasing programme ? Do I need to then buy an enterprise account in order to use the B2B distribution? Or is there any other way of getting the app to their customers without these?
Look forward to hearing from any of you.
    Thanks
    Gavin

Hi Gavin You need an enterprise account to distribute privately, unless you are happy using the adobe content viewer. No other way cheers Alistair

  • DPS android app for small screens, works, but poorly...

There is a way to get the DPS android app compatable with 1400 devices, including mobile phones.
In theory if you here reading this its because you have an android app made by the DPS app builder live in the play store and...
A: found out that the android app is only available on large/xlarge screens
B: are getting yelled at by your employer who bought the Adobe DPS subscription and claims this should work on his phone "because I looked at the Adobe site and it says android, my phone is an android, read their site and make it work"
C: found this because you were smart enough to read through the forums before suggesting this as a publishing solution to your employer and want to know if it really works on android phones, in whcih case, you may want to make it easy on yourself and just say "no, it does not" and then waid for Adobe to officially support small/normal screens perhaps head over to this post and bring some attention to it so we can collectivly improve this already awesome tool: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1097433
however, before you attempt this please keep in mind the following:
1- it does not work well, if at all, on certain devices. specifically the small phone devices with the slower processors. So what typically happens is that you need to delete the data for the app and wait nearly 10 min for the "checking for updates" to process and grab new edditions. Depending on your serivce provider, this can be a nightmare. So, do NOT even attempt this if you have a cap on your data plan, think about how long it would take to download a 100mb folio file on a 3g connection, not to mention the processor which the tablets have and phones do not have.
    Here is some more data:
--Android 1 from Sprint: really super slow, thats all I gotta say
--Android 2 from Verizon, again, slow, but works
--Galaxy Nexus 4.1.1, Verizon 4g connection, works great, (10% of the time) lol. about 90% of the time the Galaxy Nexus needs to be restarted after installing, and will get stuck on the "updating library" screen. the only way to fix this for any of the above phones seems to be to clear all data, uninstall, re install, do not launch, restart phone, and then launch app.
I am going to test the following soon:
         Samsung Galaxy Note II N7100 (1.6GHz Quad-core)
         (1.5GHz Quad-core)
              LG Optimus G E973
              Xiaomi MI-2
              LG Optimus 4X HD P880
              HTC One X
(the idea being that perhaps we can go through the list from google in the play store and limit the devices its on, but at least with this solutuon as described below we can get rid of the "not availabe on your device" notice.)
So before you read on, consider that for your end users. If you find a way to fix this, let me know, I have considered turning off hardware acceleration but have not tested this yet.
2- if you choose to attempt this make sure you have a good understanding of command line AND you have a new version of the app ready if you want to roll back.
consider this concept: (you should have these ready)
app a- made by Adobe DPS app builder, works on only large and x-large android screens, lets say its version 100000 and 2.5.5.000. This is already in your google.play store account as a live app,
app b- the app you are about to build in this example below, it will in theory work on small, medium, large, and x-large android screens, lets say its version is 110000 and 2.9.9.000 (it will be MADE FROM APP A, you will open it, edit it, and wrap it back up.)
app c- made by Adobe DPS app builder, works on only large and x-large android screens, lets say its version 200000 and 3.5.5.000 (which would be good to have in case your version b above does not work the way you want)
notice the VERSION codes. These are important because you can only go UP, you can not "roll back" to a previous version.
Again, I do not suggest this, but if you are daring and have some development background, feel free to give it a shot.
(I am not going to be able to support this info, but I can verify 100% that I got mine working, very poorly and slow, but it installs, pulls folios, and loads)
PC WINDOWS ONLY, I have not tried this on a MAC.
    get this:
      http://www.7-zip.org/
    install it
    get this:
      http://code.google.com/p/android-apktool/
    read all about it.
    go here:
      http://code.google.com/p/android-apktool/downloads/list
    get:
              apktool1.4.3.tar.bz2
    and
              apktool-install-windows-r04-brut1.tar.bz2
put them all in 1 folder, extract both items, all the way
    the grab the
              android-viewer.apk
that Adobe DPS made, or whatever yours is named...
    and the
              release.keystore
you made and put them in the same "stuff" folder. there should be 20 items total in here now.
    get this:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk-6u30-download-1377139.html
              jdk-6u30-windows-x64.exe
do NOT use any other version, do NOT use version 7, use version 6.
install it all. then find it. should be here- (C://program files/Java/)
I recomend grabbing it all and putting it in your ROOT like this:
    C://Java/jdk1.6.0_30/bin
then, put everything from the "stuff" folder into C://Java/jdk1.6.0_30/bin
    yep, all of it.
now we are ready to get funky...
    run cmd line.
    open start menu, type
    cmd
into the search bar, hit enter
-------- run command line, get to proper directory
    cd ..
    cd ..
    cd Java/jdk1.6.0_30/bin
    (or wherever your 'stuff' is)
    --------open up
    apktool d android-viewer.apk android-viewer
(this will make a folder called 'android-viewer' and you will be able to go into that folder and find the XML files in there)
    --------edit XML
    in file: /android-viewer/AndroidManifest.xml
open up in dreamweaver and change this stuff:
    android:versionCode="_ENTER_NEW_NUMBER_" android:versionName="_ENTER_NEW_NUMBER_"
    <supports-screens android:smallScreens="true" android:normalScreens="true" android:largeScreens="true" android:xlargeScreens="true" />
    in file: /android-viewer/assets/META-INF/AIR/application.xml
open up in dreamweaver and change this stuff:
              <versionNumber>_MATCH_ABOVE_</versionNumber>
              <versionLabel>_MATCH_ABOVE_</versionLabel>
    <supports-screens android:smallScreens='true' android:normalScreens='true' android:largeScreens='true' android:xlargeScreens='true'/>
    --------package it back up
    apktool b android-viewer android-viewer-new.apk
(this will repackage the folder into a new APK, note the name -new.apk added to the end)
    --------Sign
    jarsigner -keystore release.keystore -signedjar android-viewer-signed.apk android-viewer-new.apk YOUR_ALIAS
(now you need to sign the -new apk and recreate it as signed)
    --------Verify
    jarsigner -verify -verbose -certs android-viewer-signed.apk
(if the last line does not say 'successfully verified' and there is an error, make sure you are using version 6 of JDK and not 7)
    --------Update APK in play store
    Visit this page
    http://developer.android.com/distribute/googleplay/about/distribution.html#instant
read the line that says "Instant publishing, instant updates"
while you do, understand you are being lied to, it takes anywhere from 30 min to 4 hours for your update to be "instant".
    take the new "android-viewer-signed.apk"
rename it, upload it, activate it, de activate the old one.
important: beofe you click save, switch over to the "product details" tab and update your version notes.
head over to your app page in the play store.
sit there and click refresh every 10 min or take a nap and come back in a few hours.
when you finally see the version number has updated, go to the browser on your phone
find your app in the browser, refresh the page, make sure its got the new version number on it.
install it on your small screen device, cross your fingers, and hope you do not get a message that says "not signed properly"
if you do, feel free to start googling the stuff above to see where you went wrong.
If it does work, go to your boss and have him download it and run it and say "see, there ya go, its on your phone now" and when he says it does not work hand him a minni screw driver and a 1.6GHz Quad-core from the Galaxy Note II and tell him to simply upgrade the procssor in his phone because its too slow. lol.
    -good luck and enjoi

    Hi,
This is very interesting.  I'm not an expert but i could do almost all the steps, but i can not do the sign step.  i dont know where my release.keystore is.  i created a .key.p12 file, is it?
I'm trying to do this for a Galaxy SIII
    Thank you

  • App for Windows 8 are really bad

The apps Microsoft made for Skype are really bad.
Any chance for a update so you have some chance of getting to things like call and chat and make it more clear who are online.
Out of a lot of bad apps for windows 8 this take the cake!!

Is there a reason "Elaine" (http://community.skype.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/88058) had to edit/moderate EVERY one of the posts here?
This thread started some time ago, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like the word "sucks" was replaced with "are really bad" in the last 12 hours.
The only reason I bring this up is because this is censorship and let me tell you Elaine that it is NOT helping Microsoft/Skype's case here!
If something SUCKS it means it IS REALLY BAD. The word "sucks" is VERY well known throughout the english speaking world to mean this. Any moderation on the grounds that the moderation was done "In deference to international sensibilities" is ridiculous! This stinks of corporate censorship!
Rather than censor everyone's comments, how about you (the company) just fix the issues and let us know they are fixed OR if fixing them isn't going to happen in the near future at least let us know that you're working on it!
I have not seen even one official comment by Skype or Microsoft staff regarding this issue! NOT ONE! That implies to me that there is something seriously wrong and its almost definitley not going to be fixed any time soon!
Perhaps after all these years of being a happy customer it is time to start looking at moving away from Skype to another service...

An app for Windows 8 or Windows Phone 8 does not exist.  I have asked Verizon about this a number of times and have been ignored.  The only positive of this is that the Android and IOS apps are all buggy, so it's highly likely that we're only missing out on another buggy app for the Windows platforms.

  • How do I upgrade my Windows Phone Silverlight/SQL CE app to Windows 10?

I have currently a Silverlight app in Windows Phone Store which uses SQL CE database. Data stored in database is very essential and users may not loose it in any situation or they stop using the app.
I know I could in theory upgrade my Silverlight app to use SQLite, then wait for 6-12 months to be sure that all users have upgraded into this SQLite version and only after that publish my Windows 10 version of the app. But I really would not like to do
that because waiting for 6-12 months is too long. My app is used maybe 1-2 times a month by an average user, that's why I think minimum of 6-12 months wait time would be necessary.
I believe many developers have the same issue.
Is any of these options possible:
    1. Silverlight is still in Windows 10 so the code for reading SQL CE databases still exists there. So Microsoft could easily implement in Windows 10 APIs an utility function something like ExportSqlCeDatabase(DataContext context, string outputFolder)
which would export all tables in a database to CSV files. Then in my Windows 10 app I could import data from those CSV files into my new SQLite database.
    2. Can I prevent automatic application upgrade from a too old Silverlight app to Windows 10 version? Upgrade should be allowed only if user has first installed the Silverlight upgrade which already uses SQLite database. If an automatic upgrade is performed
from a too old Silverlight version still using the SQL CE database, all data is lost.
    3. Can Silverlight app access files of another Windows Runtime app (from same publisher) in Windows 10? If this is possible, I could then implement a separate utility application using Silverlight which upgrades the old SQL CE database to SQLite in
the actual Windows Runtime app by accessing its files (read+write access to other app's files needed). This option would be the worst but better than nothing.

Take a look at Sam Jawaran's Build session
Moving to the Universal Windows Platform: Porting an App from Windows 8.1 XAML or Windows Phone Silverlight to Windows 10 tomorrow morning (and available recorded later).
I don't believe there's a clean way to read the SQL CE database once the app is upgraded to a Windows Runtime app. The best is probably to upgrade your app to convert from SQLCE to SQLite in Silverlight ASAP. That will give some time for customers
to run it and update their databases before Windows 10 ships and you publish the Windows 10 version of your app.

  • How to compile a form built in forms 10g on windows platform?

    Hi All,
I have built a 10g form on my local desktop on windows 7 and compiled/deployed it in apps on linux server.
I need to deploy the same form fmb on oracle apps hosted on windows platform. Please let me know if fmb works fine or not. And also provide how to compile form in windows platform..like frmcmp_batch command
    Thanks,
    Veena

The fmb, mmb, and pll files are portable to any platform where Forms can be installed. Every installation that supports running Forms comes with the necessary components to generate the executible files (fmx, mmx, plx). On your Windows machine, if you have the Builder installed, you can generate an FMX using the Builder. If not, you can directly use the compiler. The compiler has a gui option and a command line option. If you do not pass any arguments into the executible (frmcmp.exe) the GUI will start. Alternatively you can generate from the command line (DOS). You may need to set PATH, ORACLE_HOME, TNS_ADMIN, and possibily some others in the DOS shell in order for it to work.
If you have access to MyOracleSupport, refer to the following note:
<blockquote>Moving Forms Applications From One Platform Or Machine To Another (Doc ID 299938.1)</blockquote>
    Example:
    <blockquote>frmcmp.exe module=myForm module_type=form userid=scott/tiger@orcl compile_all=yes</blockquote>
More options are discussed in the Builder Online help and the compiler help.

  • Problem when moving our app to Linux platform

    Hi to all,
My app uses Java swings which will work only on windows (platform dependent).
We used Windows LookandFeel and font for labels as Arial, Tahoma... and set the size for each component according to the windows look and feel, while we developed our app.
If we change the look and feel to Metal look and feel, labels will not be displayed fully. (Instead of displaying the label as Observation, it displays Observ...). Everywhere in the view, we were facing this problem if we change the look and fell.
Now we are trying to make our app to be platform independent for which we are working with Linux.
While working with linux, there is no windows look and feel and no font called Tahoma or Arial.
Because no font called Arial or Tahoma exist and there is no windows look and feel, Instead of displaying the label as Experimenting, it is displaying as Experim..... This problem occurs everywhere in my apps.
Also wherever we used Labels in the classes (nearly some 150 class), we specified the font as Tahoma.
Is there any alternative in Java like Macros (Preprocessor) in C, so that wherever we used the word Tahoma, everywhere it will be changed, if i change it in one place.
    Thanks in advance.

    Bala wrote:
But how to make the components fully visible and avoid the above problem, even if we change different look and feel and runs on different platforms?IMO: the only real way is to use a cross-platform look & feel so the app looks the same on all environments - it doesn't have to be a built-in one, there are plenty of cool look & feels to be found on the net. In any other case its the same as developing a website: where you would have to create CSS and test it under each browser that you want to support, in the case of Swing you have to create the GUI with system look & feel and test it under every environment that you want to support; tinker and adjust until it works everywhere.
Another option which is even more of an overhaul is to build on top of the Netbeans platform, which is designed to display correctly in Windows, Mac and Linux (although you can probably still screw it up if you're not careful) and also gives you access to advanced features such as docking windows.

Thanks so much Gene. I really appreciate your time and suggestions.
Btw, should have been clearer  as one couldn't imagine I meant that 5.5 (i.e. ancient one). The adobe website also has this info: Windows 8.1 compatibility for Adobe Photoshop version 5 which just says version 5.5 under compatibility. So it does seem possible indeed to run this but perhaps for someone more techie. Had a look at the thread re: 6.0 and tried to run it as admin. Tried copying the contents on the desktop and change the compatibility under properties (even ran compatibility trouble shooter under properties) - but in vain. Must be doing something wrong. Prolly easier to return the CD (:/)
If anyone could drop an idea in relation to how/where to buy a genuine and legal copy of a CS5/CS6 I woudl greatly appreciate. I bought the 5.5 off eBay and probably will search for the right version this time on there again. But it's a bit of a question mark for me in regards to how do I make sure that I buy a genuine licenced version which I can register with the Adobe.

  • ITunes - the worse app on any platform

Here we go again.  Using Mavericks on an iMac 27" - all up to date.
iTunes continues to reset the library location to it's default.  Matter not a jot that I constantly point it to my NAS library (correctly mounts on startup).  Every single time I open iTunes is has returned to it's default. When it's not doing this it spends most of it's time not responding.  Utter junk.
This is, in my opinion, the worst app on any platform.  Why can Apple not sort this fundamental app out instead, of updating the OS with redesigns and features that many don't want? I dare not even try Yosemite because the odds are on it screwing my machine up.
I realise that this will fall on deaf ears, given the Apple do not pay any attention to these forums or, indeed, it's customers.
To expect end users to constantly mess around with Terminal or other ridiculous methods to try to fix something that should just work is ridiculous.
    Mike

    (A) Try reset iPad
Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down together until you see the Apple Logo.
Note: Data will not be affected.
    (B) Close all apps in the multi-task window
    1.Double-click the Home button.
    2. Swipe the app's preview up to close it.
    3. Preview will fly off the screen.

  • Is there any plan to have Maintenance Wizard on Windows platform?

I am planning to upgrade our 9i/11.5.10.2 to 11g/R12 on Win2000. The client doesn't have UNIX/Linux in the shop. It seems we can't use Maintenance Wizard for the upgrade. Is there any plan to have Maintenance Wizard on Windows platform?
    Thanks,
    Jenny

    Jenny,
We have considered this many times over the lifetime of the MW, but it seems the demand is never great enough. We hear from about 2-3 customers a year who would like to see this feature. It came back very low in the "desirability" ratings from our MW survey last year.
So I'm sorry to say that there is no plan to make MW installable on a Windows box at this time.
(It can be used for customers with Apps nodes on windows, but with the caveat that you lose automatic execution... See the FAQ, note 405263.1, for more details.)
