DPS on Barnes & Noble app store
Does anyone know if there any plans to allow distribution of DPS folios on the Barnes & Noble app store?
I am putting together a proposal for a client and it seems that the iPad/Kindle/Nook Tablet trifecta would offer the greatest bang for the buck. But there seems to be little information on these forums about the Nook Tablet. I don't own a Nook but from what I've seen their magazine reader may be a proprietary application ...
There are Android add-ons for the Nook Tablet that allow access to the Android Market. But I'm guessing that most casual users won't bother with these.
Any info/insight would be appreciated.

If this would help. I just foind this info today after I called Barnes and Noble for Dev Support. Similiar to Apple, there is no direct phone number for Dev Support for the Nook at this time. Hello:
I've been doing some testing on DPS with the Windows app and it's incredible and fabulous since I can access it from my Windows 8.1 laptop or computer. I know this is possible because of the Operating Sysmte instead of the technology but I'd like to know if you are going to release a version for using it on the Mac in order to have a broader audience. Not the Web Viewer that requires accessing the account from a browser and downloading the folio each time but a full app that can be used the same as the viewer on the iPad.

I followed the DPS possibilities about the first year. Now i want to give it another try.
But has the different folios "DPS-tips advanced" and others by Bob Binghurst boiled Down to only one?
I tried several times, but I only get the basic one?You should see six folios on the iPad. You might want to uninstall/reinstall the app.

Apple Enterprise App Store & DPS
We are a fairly small ad agency with a large corporate client that has an Apple Enterprise App Store they use to distribute iPad apps to their employees. The marketing rep we work with has asked us to create a brochure along with an iPad app using the same content as the brochure. Our first thought was that this would be a great way for us to dive in and learn the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite and use the Single Edition version for our client app. But, despite our best efforts, we haven't been able to get a definitive answer as to whether or not the DPS Single Edition product can create an app that can be distributed with an Apple Enterprise App Store. An IT guy from our client said they need an .ipa file along with a plist file and the app has to be signed with a certificate that allows distribution of apps without the App Store. No idea what all that means but I need to find out if we can do all of that with DPS Single Edition. Thoughts anyone?
Look, I'm not trying to get frustrated, but no matter how you ask the question, the answer is the same. There is no such thing as an enterprise "store." What there is, is the enterprise developer's program, which allows you create an distribution .ipa file, that you can host somewhere (behnind a username and password security portal) for users to download outside of the store.
Here is the Adobe help article explaining how it's done, but again, it can't be done with Single Edition. The license doesn't allow for it. The best you can do with Single Edition is distribute it to 100 iPads by side loading it after provisioning the iPads via the Apple Developer portal. http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-publishing-suite/help/creating-enterprise-signed-viewer-app .html
And sorry for getting frustrated, but I answered your question twice and I really do this every day as part of my career. Your question is one that comes up a lot as it would seem like private distribution would be simple, but because of the licensing restrictions, the enterprise license is the only license that will allow the creatation of an enterprise iOS developer signed application. -
Are apps removed from app store when DPS contract expires?
My company is debating on whether to renew our DPS contract and the question has come up whether or not once our contract expires, will the apps we've created so far using DPS be removed from the app store since we would no longer be subscribing to their services? Or will they still be available for purchase on the app store?
The apps won't disappear unless your Apple Developer account is
canceled. If they're Single Edition you're okay. If they're
subscription, nothing will be available for download.

Previewing DPS apps, on-device, for client approval prior to Publication via App Store
We're using Adobe's DPS to create simple tools and documentation for various health-care products.
Our client is a global Ad Agency. Their client is a HealthCare company.
They eventually want to publish these 'apps' via the Apple App Store, but, currently just want to demo these apps to:
1. Their client, in a number of countries
2. A number of global Ad Agency offices & staff
Is there a way, before publishing to the App store, we can share the app, on iPads, to a number of people (probably less than 100) for approval and review, without them having to own the DPS or be subscribers to Adobe Creative Cloud?Yes, get them to download 'Adobe Content Viewer' from the App store.
You can then give them a username and password to login and view the preview.
Theres a little more setup require such as users and Adobe accounts. But I'm sure you can find a tutorial on here or ask for more advice. -
Selling the DPS concept to a client - viewing an app pre-app store.
Hi, i am developing a publication via DPS to sell the concept to a client.
the development is going well and i'm learning fast, but am a bit confused.
Is it possible to save the app to the iPad in order for us to show the concept to the client before we go and fully publish to the app to the app store, we also have not received confirmation of our apple developer credentials as dealing with D&B is an absolute nightmare.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.Just share the folio with the client. They'll need a verified Adobe ID and
the Adobe Content Viewer. -
DPS for local iPad (non app store) delivery
I cannot work out the Digital Publishing Suite. I have a need to create presentations for people to deliver on iPads. No app store involved (ie. nothing commercial) and no distribution of any kind is required. Just glorified Keynote-type presentations if you will but obviously InDesign generated. Epub doesn't cut it in terms of design... PDF would be perfect, but embedded video wont work. Are you really saying I need to pay $600 a month? I am gobsmacked...
No, you do not need to subscribe to a service to achieve this. You can create and share content for free to people who have a free adobeID.
Within the InDesign Folio Builder Palette you choose share and enter the IDs to share with and click invite.
The person viewing needs to download the free Adobe Folio Viewer and sign in to it with their free adobe ID. They will see your shared content available and they can download it and view it and show it to their hearts content. This is the same for iPad, Android and I guess Blackberry when the viewer ships.
If you as the publisher want to have more than one published folio then you will need to upgrade your http://www.acrobat.com account which is chargeable depending on how many you need to publish, 1 for free, upto 20 workspaces (folios) for £115 or unlimited (£237). It doesn't show me the price in USD.

Can I read a book I downloaded from the App Store to my phone on my non-Apple laptop?
So, I downloaded a book from the App Store onto my iPhone. This is great as I can read it on the bus, but while at home I would prefer to read it on a bigger screen. I don't have an iPad or Apple laptop.
Am I able to read it on my Dell laptop? If so, how do I do this?

I'm not sure about Amazon Kindle eBooks. I know you can read them on an iPhone via the Kindle app, just not sure if Amazon has a Mac or Windows app. I'm sure you could check at the Amazon.com web site. -
Dear Apple Support Community!
I installed Mavericks OS X on my iMac immediately after it was released. I was soon starting to experience trouble with logging in to Mail and App Store. After contacting Apple Support and trying various tips and tricks to no avail, like re-installing Mavericks for instance, I just decided to wait for an update of the OS X to see if that would solve my problems. Unfortunately, that didn't help either.
I therefore turn to the Apple Support Communities in hope of expert help that will solve my problems.
Here are the actions that result in error messages:
Mail > Choose a mail account to add > Google > Continue > Name/Email Address/Password > Set Up > A connection error occurred.
App Store > Sign In > Apple ID/Password > Sign In > Connection failed.
I have three accounts on my computer:
System Administrator, Guest Account and Other.
I use the “Other” account as my regular account. When I log in to the System Administrator or Guest Account I don’t experience any problems; Mail and App Store work as they should.
Booting in safe mode does not solve the problem:
I disconnected all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and removed all aftermarket expansion cards. I booted in safe mode and logged in to the account with the problem.
I tested the said actions while in safe mode. The problems were the same.
After testing, I rebooted as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verified that I still had the problems.

But fortunately, I have been able to solve many of them after a lot of trial & error, frustration and sweat! I now long for the more than 2 years of previous Snow Leopard usage when problems were small, few and far between, and quickly solvable. I feel as if Apple has cut me adrift and left me to struggle on my own with the seemingly numerous problems of getting the performance of Mavericks to finally stabilize on my iMac.
Øystein's Feb. 8th post asks some of the same Mavericks questions that I still have. It would be very helpful to me, and to others I'm sure, if someone/anyone has specific suggestions or solutions on what one could/should do to fix specific problems with newly installed Mavericks OSs, short of a clean, full re-install of the OS.
I have one admin account plus the guest account on my iMac Mavericks. Does this mean my admin account is a/the root account?! How can one tell whether or not they are logging in with a root account?! What's the distinction between the root account, a user's admin account, and other standard users' accounts?! Could someone please recommend a definitive Apple document describing all the various types of Mavericks accounts, in detail, and how/when/where/why each type should be used before or along with any of the others?
Why is it suddenly a no-no to log on to Mavericks via the root user account, when previous OS versions had no problem with this?! What's the purpose of the root user account if not to use it to log on to the computer?! If it's so dangerous, why isn't it internally safeguarded from inadvertent logins by casual users?! What damage or harm are we talking about, and why weren't personal-use customers given a big warning about this apparent "booby trap" in Mavericks?! Saying NEVER DO THAT is like closing the barn door after the horse has already bolted, and it explains nothing to the casual user.
We can't just do a clean re-install every time something in Mavericks hiccups?! Based on my recent experience, and on what I'm seeing in this thread, I would have had to re-installed it a half dozen times in the past 2 months alone!! That's nonsensical. There's got to be a better way of fixing a newly installed Mavericks OS than doing a re-install over and over again. Why don't the Mac diagnostic and troubleshooting tools work in Mavericks' case, as they have done for me on many occasions on earlier OS versions?! What is it about Mavericks that makes it different this time?! Could it possibly have something to do with integration of Mavericks and iCloud; and, if so, what specific cautions should the casual user observe to make sure they don't jeopardize the integrity of Mavericks by doing something similar to logging in from the root account?!
Many customers need to be brought in out of the dark! Is there an Apple Mavericks expert out there who can advise the customer community on specifically how to apply the existing repair tools to solve specific Mavericks teething problems, without having to revert to multiple OS re-installs? -
App not showing on the iphone App Store
Hi all,
We just released ou iOS app on the App Sore from the state "Pending Developer Release" about 6 hours ago.
Its version 2 of an app that was only available on iPad, but this new version is built fo both iPad and iPhone.
The App Store on iPad has been showing the new version for about 2 hours, but the iPhone App Store doesnt yet show the app.
Its possible that propagation times are different for the different devices' stores? But we were just wondering if anyone has any experience with DPS apps released for iPhone and iPad?
We've looked for the app on the South African store and the USA store but its nowhere to be found. (its configured to be available on all countries' stores) The browser link below is our app - it states that the app is 'designed for both iPhone and iPad' and 'Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch' - so we believe our app itself isnt the problem.

(this wasnt for approval, this was after we release it from 'pending developer release')

Finding App URL on international App store (that you can't access)
Morning DPS'ers
I need to find the app store URL for a published app that is available in a different App store (I am in the UK, and am trying to find the URL for the app in, say, the Japanese app store, or the American one). I obviously can't get access to these as they are only available locally.

Is an interactive catalog from a company allowed in apple app store?
Hi! I am a little confused. A sports shoe company asked me to turn their Catalogs (made with indesign) into an ipad interactive catalog. With features like 360° view of the shoes, timelines, zoom etc.
So i read somewhere that it's not allowed to do this. Only magazines or apps. No "advertisment". My question: is this still true??
KlausThere are plenty of examples of catalogs in the app store bulit using DPS. Check out Asos, Lakeland, Victoria Secret, Dick's Sporting Goods, Hardy Frame Special Moment Frame, etc.

Can a demonstration App for a make believe business be placed in App Store?
Can a demonstration App for a make believe business be placed in App Store as an App Dev sales tool, or likely to not go through? I am experienced launching real Apps but not in this new category of business interest. Let’s say hypothetically I want to sell DPS Apps to small restaurants who want to share menus, atmosphere photos, etc. As a demonstration tool, can I make up a restaurant name, use royalty free restaurant stock and have a related demo App as a client sales tool and expect that to make it into the Apps Store? If not, any suggestions other than Adobe Content viewer alone to have a demo tool that clients can see working like a native App to help me get started?
I haven't tried it but my guess is that full on dummy app would probably have problems getting through the review process.
What you could try is building an app for your business, and within the app having a section that is devoted to the dummy app, showing off the functionality you offer.
I could see that still having a few potential problems, but it seems like it would be a lot more likely to get through the review process. -
