DQXI 11.7.1 High Availabilty Setup

We are looking to setup DQXI in a high availability clustered environment. We are going to start with two servers and work our way up from there. We only need to balance out the transactional calls (not the batch's). We are planning on using an existing content switch to handle balancing the web service calls.
My question is can you have more than one dqxi server pointed to the same SQL database for the repository information?
Anyone have any experiences in created a high availability cluster for dqxi?
Thanks!
Paul

    Hi All,
    Our solution Manger is on high availabilty. We want to install Wily Introscope manager on our Solution Manager. How can we install it on high availabilty. Please help.
    Also Wily Agents(on managed systems) need to be installed on only Stand Alone Java Systems or on ABAP+JAVA systems also.
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Subashree

    Hello Subashreekannan ,
    To setup the EM in a cluster scenario you may refer to the [Wily Introscope Setup Guide 8.0 |https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/~sapdownload/011000358700001995842008E/SAPISDOC02_0.pdf] in section "Enterprise Manager Cluster Setup".
    To setup the EM in a Failover scenario, you may refer to the [Wily Adminsitration and configuration guide|http://www.scribd.com/doc/44471028/Introscope8-0-2-0ConfigAdminGuide] in section "Using MOM Hot Failover".
    Regarding the ISAgent, the Introscope Agent setup should be performed for JAVA and dual stack systems. It is not neessary to perform the ISAgent setup only for pure ABAP systems.

  • Sender agreements on high availability setup

    Hi
    We have XI and ERP exchanging some messages. Our ERP system has been switched to high availability setup.
    As for one scenarion in XI: ERP is sender and there is ONE sender agreement that can use ONE communication channel (RFC).
    In that communication channel, "RFC Server Parameter" is configured for one of the app servers. "RFC Metadata Repository Peremeters" are set to point to the load balancer.
    What happens is that this scenarion can be started only from this app server that is configured in the communication channel.
    How to enable that both ERP app servers could be th senders for this scenario?
    I am missing something obious...
    Thanks,
    Heiko

    This seems strange for me too. But if I set the RFC Message server and Metadata server to use the same system, the connection will not work.
    It seems that there are two possible ways:
    - change communication channel so that it would not be app server specific. Tried but don't seem to figure out how this should be configured.
    - add multiple sender agreements. XI dos not allow multiple sender agreements... requires different receiver... but there is no receiver at all.
    Any ideas?

  • PRIME LMS 4.2 + High Availabilty

    Hi all,
      Does LMS 4.2 support Microsoft cluster solution for High Availabilty ?
    I understand from Cisco Documentations that they use Veritas Cluster solution as well as Vmware Vmotion/HA for high available configuration of LMS.
    But i would like to know if we can achieve this using Microsoft Cluster and if then, can some please share any documents/details pertaining to same ?
    Sankar

    Besides the supported Veritas method, the second best solution would be to snapshot your VM regularly and practice restore from that. A Microsoft Cluster solution would be an unsupported kludge.
    You could also perform a system (application level) backup on a regular basis and restore from that.

    Hi,
    For CAS/HUB servers, you can still use Windows NLB to load balance traffic. It is supported but the recommendation is to user HLB. Besides, it is recommended to create a Client Access server array even if you only have a single Client Access server within
    your organization.
    For DAG, we shoule note that each member of the DAG must also be running the same operating system.

  • Is high availabilty available with B1 ?

    Hi,
    We've got users based around the world who connect to B1 at our UK base. I cannot provide 24 hour support in case of system downtime so I'm interested to find out what sort of options are available to provide High Availabilty/Redundancy to our SAP installation?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Its normal to have a system down but you can make prevent or minimize this situation.
    1. In your SQL Server you could try to use the RAID.
    2. Frequent backup of the database.
    3. You may use SQL SERVER distributed function. This is using 2 or more SQL Server but
        using 1 database.
    4. Daily monitoring.
    5. A spare or extra computer that have already SQL Server installed and ready to attached
        or restore the recovered database.
    6. Separate the APPLICATION to DATABASE Server,
    Hope it will help.
    THanks.

  • High availabilty in OEM11g

    Hi
    Regading OEM grid control 11g in standalone server.
    What is the easiest/best way to have high availability ?
    i.e
    I can replicate repository database with dataguard
    How about oms?

    You dont need a cluster. You can install an additional OMS pointing to the same repository to have an active-active configuration. Here two or more OMS instances are configured to serve the same application workload. These instances can reside on the same machine as the Repository Database machine(s) or on different machines.
    They are all active instances front-ended by a Server Load Balancer (SLB) router, which can redirect requests to any of the active OMS instances. Such a setup ensures that even if one of the OMS goes down, another OMS can serve the console / upload requests.
    For more details, refer to the doc link suggested by Loc earlier:

  • WL9/bpel10.1.3.4 MLR10  high availability setup missing internal queues.

    Hi,
    Noticed that setups on weblogic HA (High Availability) cluster setups have a bug in setting up the JMS SOA module.
    Currently 2 mandatory queues (distributed) and corresponding Factories are missing: eg BPELInvokerQueue and BPELWorkerQueue.
    These queues basically guarantee no message loss during for example http/SOAP communications. Like in our case BPEL <-> OSB.
    On non HA setups and probably older versions of BPEL the porting to WL9.2 goes smoother as they do contain these queues/.
    Does anyone know putting them manually resolves the problem? Putting Service request on OTN to support this.
    Thanks and Regards

    Hi,
    okay, you can use 4 virtual servers. But there is no need to deploy dedicated server roles (CAS + MBX). It is better to deploy multi-role Exchange servers, also virtual! You could install 2 multi-role servers and if the company growths, install another multi-role,
    and so on. It's much more simpler, better and less expensive.
    CAS-Array is only an Active Directory object, nothing more. The load balancer controls the sessions on which CAS the user will terminate. You can read more at
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/03/05/load-balancing-in-exchange-2013.aspx Also there is no session affinity required.
    First, build the complete Exchange 2013 architecture. High availability for your data is a DAG and for your CAS you use a load balancer.
    On channel 9 there is many stuff from MEC:

  • High Availabilty Tomcat

    To give some trining I'm trainig to setup a cluster in a box using Tomcat.
    My components:
    Apache 2.0.54
    mod_jk 1.2.10
    Tomcat 5.5
    I've created two Tomcat instances each listening in different ports (AJP in 8009 & 8010 for each Tomcat). I've also modified the Session servlet example servlet to show the name of the server where it's running.
    This works fine when pointing to any individual Tomcat (localhost:8009 & localhost:8010)
    Then I configure mod_jk this way:
    mod_jk.conf
    <IfModule !mod_jk.c>
    LoadModule jk_module /opt/hpws/apache/modules/mod_jk.so
    </IfModule>
    JkWorkersFile /opt/hpws/apache/conf/workers.properties
    JkLogFile /opt/hpws/apache/logs/jk.log
    JkLogLevel trace
    # JkShmFile /tmp/kk
    JkMount /servlets-examples balanceador
    JkMount /servlets-examples/* balanceador
    And workers.properties as:
    workers.tomcat_home=/opt/hpws/tomcat
    workers.java_home=/opt/java1.5
    worker.list=balanceador
    worker.balanceador.type=lb
    worker.balanceador.balance_workers=server1,server2
    worker.server1.port=8009
    worker.server1.host=localhost
    worker.server1.type=ajp13
    worker.server2.port=8010
    worker.server2.host=localhost
    worker.server2.type=ajp13
    This doesn't work. When I point a browser to the defaul port (myhost:80) one of the Tomcats replies with a sessionID, when I enter some data into the browser, the load balancer redirects me to the other Tomcat lossing the session data.
    I've I play using sticky_session_force, I've got an error from mod_jk because he doesn't find a matching server for the session (all workers are in error for session ...)
    Any hints??

    Your solution uses the new clustering functionality of Tomcat 5.X.
    What I'd like is to use sticky sessions: one session started in server1 keeps using server1 until that session ends.
    This should be the logical way of working even with Tomcat session replication. IMHO mod_jk should only redirect a session to a different cluster server only if the original session server is down.
    With your proposed config and leaving sticky_session=True mod_jk balances each connection to a different server losing the session info if you're not using Tomcat cluster.

  • Cisco CSS 11501 - High-Availabilty

    We have a single CSS 11501 and were thinking about just buying a new one and putting it online as the standby with statefull (hopefully) failover, but weren't sure that this would work.
    Does anyone know what is needed to create a high-availability Cisco CSS 11501 environment?
    Do you only need 2 CSS 11501 and then configure them with one being active and the other being in a standby mode, like a PIX?
    Is there a HA Cable that would need to be connected between the 2 CSS's?
    Thanks in Advanced.
    Joe

    Daniel,
    There is a new stateful failover mechanism for the Cisco CSS 11500.
    This description is a bit "salesy" I know, but it covers the question asked :-)
    The Cisco CSS 11500 delivers ASR—the industry's first stateful Layer 5 session redundancy feature that enables failover of important flows while maximizing performance. Some flows—such as a long-lived File Transfer Protocol (FTP) or a database session — may be mission critical, but many are not. Most solutions on the market today require all traffic—important or not—to be backed up from one box to another. If the majority of flows are not critical, then most of system performance is wasted on unnecessary back
    ups. With ASR, the Cisco CSS 11500 may be configured so critical flows are marked as replication worthy, whereas others do not need to be so marked. ASR focuses traffic management resources precisely where needed.
    Better yet, have a look at the following link focusing on the section on Stateless Redundancy.

  • Always ON High Availabilty

    Hi Everyone,
        In AlwaysOn HighAvailabilty if any problem or disaster will happen in Primary Server.It got failover to sencondary replica.
        But in the secondary replica we have give read option only.Not write option.Then how to if we want write anything in the       DB.
    Thanks Everyone,
    RamKarthik

    Hey RamKarthik,
    There are a number of options related DR (disaster recovery), you should read more link below:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822400
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms179344(v=sql.105).aspx
    If you choose for example the following type,
    it requires three servers but will give you a good answer and safe.
    first server is active, MIRROR second and third listen the first 2 server (witness)
    so the transition will be automatic and smooth.
    High-Safety Mode with Automatic Failover
    Automatic failover provides high availability by ensuring that the database is still served after the loss of one server. Automatic failover requires that the session possess a third server
    instance, the witness, which ideally resides on a third computer. The following figure shows the configuration of a high-safety mode session that supports automatic failover.

  • RAC (high availabilty in a disconnection period)

    Dear DBAs,
    we have a concern which need additional info.
    As i know, "high availability using RAC" means that the users should remain connected to the database or at least disconnected for few seconds when a node (in RAC en. active/active) goes down.
    My question is:
    let's say i have 2 nodes and 100 users are connected to the database. what happened in case the 2st node/server goes down ?
    1. the users, connected to this node, will automatically switch to the other node without the need to manually reconnect again?
    2. the users, connected to this node, will be disconnected, the transaction will rollback, and the users should manually reconnect again ?
    Note that my oracle version is 10gR2 and i'm using Oracle clusterware.
    Thank in advance for your help
    Regards

    ok,
    let's say my application is a banking application and as usual a process called EOD (End Of Day) should run from a client machine.
    this process will make many tables insert, update, delete.
    what might happen in case this node (where the EOD's session is connected) ?
    do we have to run the process again ? or it continue running ?
    Thx again

  • High Availabilty Solutions for Oracle R12.

    Hi Gurus,
    We are looking for a HA solution for our R12 E-Business Suite. Currently we have options like HP Service Guard from HP.
    Kindly provide me your valuable suggestion for HA solution from Oracle side.
    Please kindly provide me the details as well like 'Licensing, Advantages, Disadvantages, pre-requistes, ease of Adminstation etc.
    Highly appreciating your replies.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for your replies. Does Oracle RAC need extra licensing?Absolutely, yes. RAC is neither cheap nor free. ;-)
    I would like to have enough information before i can go to our sales representative.
    Actually i am planning to give presentation on High Avaialability options for Oracle R12.
    and i assume i will be asked for the lisensing. i need your helpA conversation with your Oracle Sales representative will be far more informative than asking questions about licensing on these forums. If you want baseline information about license costs, you can check the Oracle Store (https://oraclestore.oracle.com), but you may be able to negotiate a better rate with Oracle Sales.
    Update: In other words, "what Hussein said." I really need to refresh these threads more often when composing a reply, especially if I wander away and come back. ;-)
