Dr Brown's 123 processor

I realize this is possibly the wrong place to ask - but cannot find anywhere on Dr Browns site.   I am having problems with PS CS5  everytime I try to use the Dr Brown's 123 script for resizing images from Bridge.  I get the message
"Sorry something major has happened and I can't continue!  Would you like to see more info"
If I hit yes I get a page starting with message
Error: Bad argument : Invalid resource format. Error in line 15, at character offset 1284, in '{ orientation: 'column', alignChildren: 'fill', spacing: 5,  etc etc
Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?  The only way I can get the script to work is to close PS and start again from Bridge
Thanks

Someone at the Photoshop Scripting Forum or the Bridge Scripting Forum might have more insight.

  • Getting Russell Brown's Image Processor Pro to work with an action

    I have Photoshop CS6 with Russell Brown's Image Processor Pro installed.
    I have the ongoing task of processing pics of different sizes and different width/height ratios.
    I would like to get the following result using IP Pro (in collaboration with an action):
    1. Downsize pic to 960 pixels wide (height doesn't matter, but needs to stay in ratio)
    2. Watermark pic.
    3. Save.
    4. Creating a thumbnail of 320 x 213 pixels, without distorting ratio. This may mean downsizing to 320 wide with relative height, *then* cropping via Image-Canvas Size. Chopping a bit off is preferable to me than distorting the ratio.
    5. Save the smaller version as 'Documentnamex' (i.e. adding an 'x' to the document name for the thumbnail.
    I have 1-3 in an action and have used it for years.
    But as for the task of a smaller thumbnail, kept in ratio but chopped and named with an x - I am stumped. I downloaded IP Pro for the task, but I can't get it to work.
    If I save the original with IP Pro (at step 3), how do I then get it to make the thumbnail?
    If I create the thumbnail in the action, *then* do 2 saves in IP Pro (thumbnail and 960 version), the bigger one will be pixelated (and no surprises there)
    Summary: I want 2 watermarked versions:
    1. 1234a.jpg: 960 pixels wide, height relative
    2. 1234ax.jpg: thumnail, 320 wide x 213 high
    Can anyone help? Am I asking too much of the software?

    I copied that .jsx file to a new name "Xbytor Image Processor Pro.jsx" edit that file changed the string Dr Browns services to "Xbytor Image Processor Pro" then commented out all the code that added tools menu items but "Image Processor Pro" and I put that file into
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Startup Scripts CC\Adobe Bridge" even though Bridge CC is 64Bit seems to use theat location.
    Bridge CC was updated by the creative clouds update and opens Photoshop CC 2014 now

  • Dr. Brown's Image Processor Pro

    I've been using Dr. Brown's Image Processor Pro for years now and have never had a problem until now. I just attempted to run the Image Processor pro script and received a "failed creating default FileType tab". Anyone run across this error? I've tried removing the script and reinstalling but the same issue. I even tried Dr. Brown's "Just Fix It" script. The only thing that has changed since I last used the script successfully is that I've added a 3rd monitor to my setup but I really wouldn't expect that to be a problem. Has anyone come across this error when using Dr. Brown's scripts?

    I appreciate your suggestions but after some further investigating, turns out the problem was Photoshop itself. I went to test a batch action in photoshop and found that "batch" under automate was greyed out.
    Oinapea, if you see that your "batch" option is greyed out as well, try deleting your actions palette file. Should be in the same folder JJMack listed above: C:\Users\(insert username)\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Adobe Photoshop CS5 Settings
    Delete Actions Palette.psp and reopen PS. Hopefully the "batch" option is now available and Dr. Brown's will run as it should.

  • Dr Brown Service Installer - Not Digitally Signed?

    I just went to install Russell Brown's Image Processor Pro script, which I downloaded from russellbrown.com, and the Adobe Extension Manager emitted the following message:
    I'm a bit wary of installing unsigned software.  Surely Russell must have a code signing certficate.
    Are others seeing this message?

    Hi, Noel, I would ask either on the CS SDK blog: http://blogs.adobe.com/cssdk/ or on the forum: http://forums.adobe.com/community/creativesuites/extensionmanager

  • Acessing Dr.Brown Service Scripts From PSCC

    I have downloaded and installed D.Browns Service Scripts.
    The installer makes the scripts Stack-A-Matic, Place-A-Matic 8 and Place-A-Matic 16 functionality available through Bridge only.
    Is there a way to access the script trilogy directly from PSCC menu?

    Hi Noel,
    I didn't see any signature in the package of "Russell Brown's Image Processor Pro script". What I got are 5 png files, 2 jsx files, 1 xml file and 1 mxi file( Are we talking the same sutff? ). All of them have nothing to do with signature. I think it is why you got the warning above. Anyway, if you are sure this extension is safe, you can click "Install" to ingore the warning message.

  • Any way to export to specified file size?

    Is there any way to export images so they are sized to fit within certain dimensions AND a specified file size? Similar to 'image processor' in Bridge/CS3 or the older Doc Brown's image processor.
    Example: (processing images for web use)
    I want to export a batch of RAW files to jpg,
    Size them to fit within 800px x 800px,
    And have them be a consistent file size of around 100kb
    (This has been possible to do in Adobe Bridge for years)
    I know I can edit Aperture's export preferences and adjust the image quality slider but final images have a range of file sizes and I find myself having to re-export some images over again after adjusting image quality to reach the desired size. This is a trial and error process each time.
    Another workaround is to export the images as .tif files, then open in Adobe Bridge and process into jpg's using 'image processor' to reach the desired size. But that effectively negates the use of Aperture in the first place for batch processing files for size. In this case, it'd be more efficient to take Aperture out of my workflow completely and do everything in Adobe Bridge.
    Has anyone found a plug-in or less tedious workaround for this?
    Cheers,
    J

    James, you said "my website provider places an upper limit on file size and dimensions per image."
    Aperture does take care of half of that, the pixel dimensions. If it was me, I would test out a few images at various levels of jpg quality (5, 6, 7 etc.) and see where both the file size ends up and how the quality looks. Then, just go with one your favorite combinations. Images with more detail will be larger and images with less will be smaller. In the long run, it should even out. If you had the ability to request a certain size, some of your images may look good and others bad. Personally, I would be more concerned with quality than a few k of pixels.

  • Why Photoshop CC is taking so long to save PNG files?

    Hi All
    I noticed that when I'm using a script on my PC is taking a very long time to save as PNG - it's taking approximately 10-25sek to save one. On my system resource monitor it shows that the processor is used only in about 20%; memory only about 10% Disc looks like is use a lot and surprisingly network (?)

  • Move files from one folder to another javascript?

    I am running a 3-action droplet automatically using windows task scheduler.  Here are the 3 steps:
    1.    Batch file to move files from hot folder to processing folder
    2.    Run IPP (dr brown's image processor pro) using preloaded settings to make several sizes copies of the files.
    3.    Bat file to move the files from processing folder to archive folder.
    The problem I am observing is that Step 1 works and IPP begins to run.  It only processes the first few images, and then moves on to the 3rd step where the bat file is ran to move all files from processing folder to archive folder.   The trouble is, only a few images were processes (about 10 or so), yet all of the images get moved to the archive without being processed.  Is there a way to make sure that step 2 (IPP) doesn’t begin until all files have successfully been moved from the hot folder to the processing folder?  IPP starts right away and files are still being transferred to the processing folder.
    Does anyone have a script that will move files from one folder to another?

    I'm sure I have see a way to close down Photoshop in a Photoshop script.  I never had the need to.  It may be a simple statement like app.close(); I don't know javascript and only hack Photoshop script mostly by looking at others code.  app.close(); is a guess on my part. Let me try it. I was wrong its photoshop.quit();
    So make your MoveToArchive.jsx look something like this
    try{
       var BAT = new File(Folder.temp + "/MoveFilesToArchive.bat");
       BAT.open("w");
       BAT.writeln('Copy /Y "c:\\Process\\*.jpg" "c:\\Archive\\*.*"');
       BAT.writeln('Del "c:\Process\\*.jpg"');
       BAT.close();
       BAT.execute();   // execute the temp bat file
    }catch(e){
    alert("Bat MoveFilesToArchive  failed to execute.");
    photoshop.quit();

  • Batch Saving for Web over 10,000 images to their original folder in CS6

    Hi all,
    I've searched on here for the answer and I'm a bit stumped on how to do this.
    I've been asked to help out a blogger who until now has accepted images to their size uncompressed of resized. We've got around the problem of the max image size by using the plugin Imsanity. Which has done a great job however what it doesn't do is resample the images for the web.
    Usually if I blog myself, I always save for web but I'm having real trouble, real real trouble creating an action that will save for web to the original folders instead of a separate one.
    The thing is that there are so so many images in so many different folders and subfolders these must be modified and replaced ready for reupload.
    No matter what, however I approach it, I can't seem to make an action that works!

    Russell Brown's Image Processor Pro extension might do it.  It has a Save for web option.  You can run it for all folders in a folder tree.  If folders are not all in one tree you might want a script to invoke image processor pro for each folder set.  See <http://russellbrown.com/> and click Scripts, or direct to <http://russellbrown.com/scripts.html>.  Scroll down to "Script: Dr. Brown’s Services 2.3.1."

  • Best way to batch resize images in nested folder hierarchy?

    Hello,
    I'm looking for help on [what is probably] a classic problem related to content sites.
    I'm launching a content site that has numerous articles, and attached to each article is a number of images.  The raw site assets are currently set up in a folder hierarchy like this:
    Overall site assets folder
    Category One folder
    Article One folder
    Unmodified images folder
    Resized, production-ready images folder
    Article Two folder
    Unmodified images folder
    Resized, production-ready images folder
    Etc..., etc....
    There are hundreds of articles in this hierarchy.
    I'm looking for a script that will take every image in each "Unmodified" folder and save a resized copy to the "Resized" folder, preferably with different settings for vertical and horizontal images (though I'll be OK with just fixing the width if need be).
    I realize that I can do this manually and locally within each folder with a droplet, but between droplets / actions / plug-ins or third-party tools, is there an easy way to accomplish this across a large nested hierarchy with many folders as long as the Unmodified and Resized folders are nested together?  And what about horizontal vs. vertical images?
    THANKS!!!!!!
    Scott

    Ahhh, I understand what you're saying.  I'm downloading and installing this CS6 script, which might be along the lines of what I'm looking for:
    Dr. Brown Services - Image Processor Pro
    http://www.e-zest.net/blog/photoshop-cs6-save-for-web-images-batch-processing-keeping-nest ed-folder-structure-intact/
    Photoshop supports recording the actions and the facility to run that action for batch processing. But it also has a couple of limitations up to Photoshop cs6 as mentioned below –
    Photoshop does not maintain the source, hereditary/nested folder structure for the output (destination) images. Save for web only saves all the files to the folder specified when you record the action.
    In case of some file handling issues, Photoshop action throws an error & pauses/stops working, wherein we need to skip these errors manually.
    I I tried to Google it to find answers and also tried couple of JavaScript solutions such as the – SFW Batch Processor, SFWCS4-5, Picture Processor etc., but unfortunately all of them didn’t work for me. Either it gave up or stopped working or even threw errors for PhotoshopCS6 and CS2.
    Thanks to Russell Brown for providing new CS6 Extension script to resolve the ‘save for web’ batch processing issue like maintaining the images nesting folder structure.
    Not sure if it does exactly what I need, but checking....
    Best,
    Scott

  • Tiger & Camera RAW for Canon Rebel XT (350D)

    I'm trying to find out WHEN Apple will update either iPhoto or Tiger (presumably the latter) so that it natively reads Camera RAW for the Canon Digital Rebel XT (350D).
    I've looked on both Canon's and Apple's site with no luck other than to find what I already know (that it's not yet supported). Has anyone heard rumor as to when support for this format might be forthcoming?
    I already have Adobe CS2, so I have RAW support. The reason I want iPhoto to support RAW is so I can use the slideshow and "book" features without having to process my RAW photos into JPEG first (I have enough space on my Powerbook's hard-drive used up by RAW's already - I don't want duplicate files).

    Well, I can't make iPhoto support XT RAW, nor can I tell you when it will. I do, however, have a workaround - if you have PhotoShop (may also work in Elements).
    Get Dr Brown's Image Processor (free photoshop script) here:
    http://www.russellbrown.com/tips_tech.html
    This works with CS1 and is apparently built into the latest version of PS.
    It gives you complete control over your RAW processing and then batch processes the files to JPEG (and/or TIFF and/or PSD). THe processed jpegs can then be imported into iPhoto. I have been doing it this way since long before iPhoto supported any type of RAW format.
    iPhoto is great, and it is nice that they added RAW support. However, if you really want to shoot RAW on a regular basis, iPhoto is not the best choice to process your files. It does a good job, but a tool like PhotoShop (or the program that comes with your camera) provides a much higher level of control - which is supposed to be the point of shooting RAW. If you just want most of the settings to be "automatic" then you may as well shoot jpeg (which is actually a RAW file that the camera processes for you).
    After doing that, you can save the RAW "originals" to CD/DVD/etc. to save space. If you really want to protect yourself, convert a set to DNG (Adobe's new digital negative format) and archive those as well. With all the different RAW formats floating around now, you never know what will be supported in the future. (Imagine trying to run iPhoto in "ClassicX mode" on your OS XXX system machine because none of the tools 25 years from now support the "ancient" Rebel XT RAW format!)

  • Why is my automation tools greyed out in photoshop 10?

    II'm trying to batch my photos. However my automation tool is greyed. I have never used this before.

    Well, you could try opening them all in the raw converter and using then noise reduction there, if that will do it. When you select multiple images in the strip on the left side of the window, changes made to one image apply to all selected photos, and you can open other formats than raw there, like tiff or jpg.
    But otherwise, you are up against one of adobe's big brick walls between PSE and PS. They will not allow actions to run on more than one image at a time.
    I've heard some people say that they've had success with Dr Brown's image processor, as another alternative, although I've not tried it.

  • Inconsistent Hasselblad .fff and .3fr loading ACR 5.4rc

    hi all,
    i'm excited about the Hasselbald support in ACR 5.4, i've loaded the release candidate build from labs.adobe.com.
    Does anyone know whether ACR 5.4 is supposed to support both hasselblad .fff and .3fr files (and for that matter, both .fff's made by Flexcolor and those made by Phocus, as their internal format is different) ?
    I've found that file support for .fff's is very mixed. Some files open (i'm opening them from 'Open in Camera Raw...' in Bridge CS4), but many do not.
    If you'd like sample files of those that don't load, try the raw sample files that Hasselblad have on their own website.
    http://hasselblad.co.uk/downloads/images.aspx
    For me, none of these images preview in Bridge and none will open in ACR.
    But i do have some .fff files from an H1D which preview and load fine!
    am i missing something, or is .fff file support really patchy ?
    regards,
    alex.

    Jeff,
    Hasselblad's goofy file formats do things that DNG doesn't do and probably never will due to the reasons given by Mr. Knoll in a post seen further in this thread. Sure you can fix CA, Vignetting and Lens correcting perspective in Photoshop but in a much more laborious and probably inaccurate fashion.
    I shoot tethered for the most part so I haven't imported from cards at all and don't know if DNGs are directly possible, but with my copy of Phocus (the latest until the new update that I can't wait for) you can still output to DNG. In fact in a way similar to Russell Brown's Image Processor you can output to a variety of formats in one fell swoop. Limited to two different formats at a time so far, but it has been suggested that more will be possible in the future.
    I too was surprised to see the results when I opened a .fff file and saw the image but apparently the image was the files preview as it was a small size. Since I shoot tethered I guess that I never actually have a 3FR file, I think it must be changed to a .fff when it lands on my hard drive.
    As an owner and user of Photoshop, Lightroom, Aperture Phocus and Flexcolor I have been trying to figure out my path to the perfect workflow. They all have their strengths and weakness' for me. Aperture does recognize Hasselblad files and works very well with my Nikon D3 too even allowing me to limited tethering possibilities. But without question Phocus processes Hasselblad's captures that I make to a significantly superior file for my uses in my eyes without me having to do much. If I want to alter my captures, Phocus allows me many paths to alter a bunch of the parameters to my hearts content and hopefully I won't X@%& up my files by messing with them too much .
    I thank Adobe for continuing to update their apps to work with the slew of options in the market today, certainly a daunting task. I hope that I will somehow be able to use ACR with my .fff files sometime in the future.
    You may have negative feelings toward Hasselblad if I read your remark correctly but I thank them for forging ahead with Phocus and although it is very much a work in progress, it is a very nice piece of software in its current state. As with the continuous improvements we have all seen with Adobe's apps, Hasselblad with a much smaller audience is making the same sorts of incremental progress on their baby.
    Sorry for posting so late in the thread, I don't read this forum and was lead here by a link from the Hasselblad Digital Forum while trying to suss out ACR's relations with Hasselblad's RAWs after updating to 5.4 yesterday.
    Sincerely,
    Scott Smith

  • Lightroom w/Independent Bridge

    Greetings,
    Overall, I am pleased with Lightroom (LR) and do understand that this product is in the infant stages of development. I was a fan of the Raw Shooter program which was purchased by Adobe and serves as the basis for Lightroom. I look forward to the further development of this program.
    With that said, I believe that Lightroom should have been designed as a companion program to PSCS2 & PSCS3 (including Bridge, Camera Raw, & Photoshop hereafter called "PSCS Collective"). It, however, does not feel like a fully and seemlessly integrated program in the PSCS Collective. Instead and in truth, LR integrates like a really good third party program (like Raw Shooter & Bibble), however, no better.
    I know that many people have referred to this failure to more fully and seemlessly integrate LR into the PSCS Collective. In this post, I would like to suggest that the Lightroom be designed with its own independent Bridge system to the Photoshop Collective.
    I am not suggesting an independent "Bridge" module the current module system is more than adequate. Instead, I am suggesting two things: (a) the underlying software artchitecture which allows Bridge to be as fully and seemlessly integrated with Photoshop Proper be built into Lightroom and (b) all of the features and preference settings available in Bridge should be available in Lightroom.
    With the same or similar underlying software architecture, I believe that batch options, batch transfers, and other tool functions should be designed for, and used in, Lightroom in a manner similar to Photoshop Bridge (for example, Batch Rename, Dr. Brown's Tools, & 3rd Party Tools).
    Second, I believe that it would allow a more fully integrated export from Lightroom to Photoshop (such as required for Dr. Brown's Image Processor, Dr. Brown's Caption Maker, and such). Third, I think that it would allow for the inclusion of ALL of the "Workflow Options" from PS/Bridge Camera Raw (e.g., Space, Depth, Size, and, most importantly, Resolution and Opens As PS SmartObject).
    In addition, I would like to see ALL of the preference options fully available in Bridge and Camera Raw within Lightroom (as a handful of preferences are not available in Lightroom).
    Moreover, I would ask that the Menu Bar include a Tools drop-down into which Image Processor, Dr. Brown, and Third-Party Tools might be placed.
    Finally, I would suggest for the software to be flawlessly, fully, and seemlessly integrated as is Bridge, Lightroom installation should allow for a Lightroom Version of Camera Raw (aka, a free floating Development Module) to be installed (optional) which would allow that Camera Raw to be used in place of the Photoshop Camera Raw. In this way, PSCS2-LR and PSCS3-LR users would have the option of allowing Photoshop to host Camera Raw just as the option exists for Camera Raw to be hosted by either Bridge or Photoshop.
    In conclusion, I guess I believe that Photoshop should continue to provide Bridge & Camera Raw to users who purchase and used Photoshop. I believe that users who purchase Photoshop and Lightroom should benefit from both such that Lightroom provides all the features of the old styled Light Room and completely replaces Bridge. At present, I have to say workflow gets compromised at times LR-to-PSCS and Bridge-PSCS and LR-to-Bridge-to-PSCS. I believe that your clients who purchase Lightroom deserve a workflow that is slip-stream, fully, and totally integrated with ALL of the features and functions of Bridge built-in (including ability to incorporate "Tools" inherent in Lightroom, as well as from Bridge (like Dr. Brown's) and from Third Parties. We are making a SUBSTANTIAL investment in your product lines... we deserve a slip-stream workflow... and the truth is, I know that Adobe is more than capable of delivering it... that's the reason I buy Adobe.
    Tyger

    > I was a fan of the Raw Shooter program which was purchased by Adobe and serves as the basis for Lightroom.
    Uh, no...you have that wrong. Lightroom (code named Shadowland) was under development since Dec 2003far before Michael Jonsson even left Phase One to start pixmantic...so, you kinda got Lightroom's origins wrong...and while it would be useful to get a better integration between Lightroom and Photoshop, Lightroom is being designed to accomplish about 80% of a typical photographer's workflow. Many people are finding less need for Photoshop now that they are working in Lightroom.
    You would be better served outlining what exact functions you need to do that Lightroom isn't currently allowing you to do.

  • Custom Sizes for processing images

    I am used to using Dr.Brown's Image Processor,
    You simply request a size of image you want
    from your RAW files and voila there it is. It seems
    there are only canned sizes that I can process an
    image to from my RAW files. Is this true or am I
    missing the obvious (like usual)?
    Peter

    That's really a bummer, Imagine a 20000 images per year you want processed from
    RAW directly to a 1280x1280 jpeg (because your editor insists) for preview,
    Has anyone tried using Dr. Brown's Image processor for CS2,
    Chris Cox, will Dr. Brown have java script for this purpose soon?
