Dr Brown's Services

I first uninstalled Photoshop CS2 but left let the wizard keep my preferences. Then I tried to install Dr Brown's services to Photoshop CS3 version 10.0.1 using his quick installer. Nothing was installed. Then I followed his manual procedure and placed the scripts in the appropriate folders. When I ran his 1, 2, 3 process(one of his services) I got the following message: Something major happened and I can not continue. The error message was Invalid Image 660. I manually deleted all the left over CS2 files from program files and repeated the above 2 steps with the same results. My system is Windows XP and I have 1GB of memory.
Anybody else had this problem?

Dr. Brown's Services 2.0.2 Place-A-Matic 16 bit won't work

I love this extension!! I had to reinstall OS 10.5 because my old Epson printer won't work with 10.6, and now I can't get Dr. Brown's Services to work in CS4. I downloaded Dr. Brown and installed it. The command choices appear in the Bridge tool bar, but when I try to use it to stack two images from Bridge I get a message "Reference Error: Photoshop is undefined". How to fix this, and/or is there another extension that will allow me to directly open two images as a stack from Bridge? Thanks.

It is just corrupt data, so moving said corrupt data fixes it. Since you don't use Address Book, you can just delete the Address Book folder I had you move. If you ever want to use Address Book, it will automatically re-create its data files and they will be good this time.

Installing Dr. Brown's Services

I downloaded Dr. Brown's Services for my Windows PC (arrived as a zip file) but I can't get it to appear in Tools in Bridge.
The programs DO appear in Ps CS3 extended under FILE>SCRIPTS.
Can you help me to sort this out? I've tried the auto installer as well as trying to install the services manually. No luck.

Dr.Brown Services 2.3.1 not working in CC 2014.1 ??

Dr.Brown Services 2.3.1 is installed and viewable in Bridge.
When I click (with images selected) on Tools/Dr.Brown's Services 2.3.1/Image Processor Pro, then Photoshop CC2014.1 starts up but nothing is happening after that.
Tried many things and updated everything to the latests versions through Creative Cloud Sync in Menubar, removed CS6 and CC from my MacPro, but in vain... !
Have been a very useful now for many years and I NEED this tool in my workflow.

Please help me with this !
To Russel Brown: is this going to be solved, quickly, with or without html or Flash (I don't care as long as it works!) but I need this urgently to serve my clients !

Help with Dr Brown's Scripts 1.9.4

When trying to run Dr Brown's 1-2-3 servie, or any other script of his I get the following error message in CS3: "ReferenceError: photoshop is undefined" and the script quits.
Sequential history:
Installed CS3 and both Photoshop and Bridge worked great. Then I installed Dr Brown's Services 1.9.4 and everything worked great.
A year later I installed CS4 plus Dr Brown's scripts alongside of CS3; Bridge 10 then refused to run. Photoshop 11 was flaky, but Bridge 11 worked great.
Photoshop 11 got really nasty so decided to uninstall it leaving Bridge 11 because I really like the Dr Brown scripts. The uninstall took out everything, even though it was told to leave Bridge.
Now I'm back to just CS3 versions of Photoshop and Bridge which work just like before EXCEPT that I'm not able to get the Dr Brown scripts to run, getting the error in the first sentence above.
Any suggestions on hoe to fix this GREATLY appreciated.

As you found out, you can't remove PS and leave Bridge – they are interdependent. You would have been better off fixing PS CS4 with the 11.0.1 patch and video driver updates!
Your CS4 installation probably left remnants after you un-installed it.
Use the Adobe CS4 cleanup script – http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs4clean.html
(And possibly remove and re-install Dr Brown's, scripts.)

Dr Brown script installation problem

I downloaded Dr. Brown’s Services 2.3.1 from http://www.russellbrown.com/scripts.html. I unzipped and installed the .zxp file from Adobe Extension Manager CS6 as per the instructions in the unzipped pdf. It did not appear in either Bridge>Tools or PS CS6>File>Scripts. As per Dr. Brown's instructions on above webpage, I next tried to install his Just Fix It script for which the instructions read "Run the script or panel." I downloaded then unzipped Just Fix It but could not install the unzipped java file, Just Fix It.jsx. I tried to install this second download from the Adobe Extension Manager CS6 application but the application did not see the java file - previously it had recognized the .zxp file unzipped out of the Dr Browns Services 2.3.1 download. I tried to double click the .jsx file to run it directly but Windows offered to open it in Notepad instead.
I checked the manual installation instructions pdf file and found that the files unzipped from the original download are in place.
Currently, Adobe Extension Manager CS6 says the Dr. Brown's Services 2.3.1. is installed but I do not see it in either Bridge nor PS CS6.
I am running Photoshop CS6 on a PC with Windows 7 Home Premium.
Please advise.

In photoshop cs6 it should be File>Automate>Image Processor Pro
and Bridge should be Tools>Dr Brown's Services 2.3.1 - It is in neither.
Did you run the Adobe Extension Manger CS6 as an Administrator before installing the Services_Installer_2.3.1.zxp - I opened all programs from the windows button, I ri ght-clicked on Adobe Extension Manager CS6 then chose 'run as administrator' - it opened presumably as the administrator
Did you look in both the 32 and 64 bit versions of photoshop cs6 and bridge cs6 if your windows 7 is a 64 bit system? - I did
If you go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\Presets\Scripts is the Image Processor Pro.jsx in that folder. - There is no Scripts folder in that location. I take it there should be; should I create one?
and/or C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\Presets\Scripts - This folder exists and this is where I copied the file 'Image Processor Pro.xml' and the folder 'icons' as per the instructions included in the download
Did you look in bridge under Edit>Preferences>Startup Scripts to see if Dr Brown's Services is enabled - I did and it is.

How to Disable Image Processor Dialog Box?

Hey guys,
It's driving me nuts. I'm trying to create an action where I move image folder onto a droplet, which is image processor script and have all psd files turned to images. Howerver, each time I get the dialog box asking me input/output folder information and so on... Is there are way to suppress this popup? I'm trying to automate as much as possible, including not having to click the same button in a box each time

If your using photoshop cs5 or cs6 you might look at the Image Processor Pro which records in an action as an automation plugin instead of a script.

Stack-A-Matic Broken in CS-4

Using PhotoShop CS 4 on Windows XP. Have updated via Adobe for current files. Running CS 4 Version 11.01
Installed Dr. Brown's Services 2.02 and installer.
When selecting Tools > Dr. Brown's Services 2.02 > Stack-A-Matic in bridge, the script will NOT display the menu to select "create stack, stack mode, auto aligh and force 16 bi"t. Script should run in both Photoshop CS4 and CS4 Extended as stated in Adobe information.
The script will run, but takes all of the images and places them into PS as individual layers. When viewing the tutorial "Combining Multiple Exposures With Dr. Brown's Stack-A-Matic" posted on 5/9/09 the information shows a smart object should be listed in the layers palette. There is no smart object or menu. It is like the script is running one of the other Dr. Brown services such as merge in place of stack.
Any suggestion for a fix? Either operator or script?

Stack-A-Matic is not intended to work in the non extended version of CS-4. It is an application designed for CS-4 Extended. Thus it will fail if used in the incorrect version of CS-4.

Image Processor Pro won't run in PS6 using Window 7 OS.

Trying to run IPP on a Windows 7 OS in PS6. I select my images in bridge and run the script IPP. Photoshop pops up and a blank white screen appears and nothing else happens.

Scripting was an extra down for PS7 and the first version of Photoshop to have scripting support PS6 has no scripting support. The Image Processor Pro script uses newer scripting features like Plug-in support that was added in CS3 and I think Image Processor Pro needs newer then that like it may only works with CS5, CS6 and CC. I use it with CS6 and CC... I do not usr the installer I extract the zxp file and install manually. There are a couple of minor issues the X is working on Alpha Channels in PSD files and some TGA and BMP support... Adobe has pull Russell Brown off of Photoshop and X is feed up with Adobe.. Make sure you have the latest version of the script... I use Windows 7 Pro OS...

Photoshop CS4 Image Processor Stopped Working

My workflow consists of tagging photos in Bridge then using Photoshop actions via the Image Processor from the Bridge tools>photoshop menu. All the sudden it stopped working, the image processor box doesn't pop up anymore. When choosing a folder manually through Photoshop, it says Sorry I Can't Complete The File...... (like it always says when it's successful) but nothing processes. I have reset all the factory settings.
OSX 10.5.8 w/ Adobe Suite CS4
I need to get this project finished today rather than wasting my whole weekend doing manual actions on nearly 2000 photos for the next week straight. This process has been successful for the past 3 years.

The Image Processor is actually a plug-in script, written by Russell Brown. If you like it, you should try Dr. Brown's Services 2.0.2 (for CS4; for CS5 there's a later beta version available) by the same author and also free. It's like the Image Processor on steroids. I haven't used the latter for years, since installing Dr. Brown's Services.

No image Metadata when outputting from Bridge Web Gallery (CS4)

I use the Web Gallery option within the Output module in CS4 Bridge to process my photos to the image size I want for uploading to flickr. However all the metadata data gets stripped out.
Is there an option I am missing to retain metadata?
Of course I can add back in any IPTC data I want, but I should not have to do that more than once, what I am really annoyed over is the Camera Data (EXIF) is gone.

Can't turn launch in camera raw off, part 2

My problem was I wanted to batch process jpgs but they kept opening in ACR. Thanks to all for your suggestions. I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling PS and Bridge. Still I got the same results. I think that if the jpg has been processed in ACR, it will ALWAYS open in ACR, even when the preferences are set to OFF for auto open in ACR. To batch process them, they will have to be saved-as.
Is this the best work-around?

your document validation is gettin failed
i suggest you to use developement tools like stylus studio or spy
then you can get exact error and you wil be easily able to solve the error

How to save for web AND overwrite original files with Action?

Hello,
I want to compress a batch of images with "save for web" using a Photoshop Action, and I also want to preserve my folder structure and overwrite source files. The structure is important because it's complex and needs to be structured this way.
The Problem:
When I choose "save for web", I must define a destination. What happens is all optimized files from within the structure are saved in a single location.
Here's an example of the folder structure
Folder A
     - Subfolder A1
     - Subfolder A2
Folder B
     - Subfolder B1
     - Subfolder B2
          -Subfolder B2.2
Folder C
     -Subfolder C1
Summary
Is it possible for me to use a Photoshop Action with "save for web", and overwrite my files without moving them from the structure?

No need to re-invent the wheel.
Just learn how to use the Image Processor, Image Processor Pro, or Dr. Brown's Services 1-2-3 in Photoshop and/or Bridge.

Intermittent colour rendering problem

In the past few weeks I've noticed a problem with my Photoshop CS5 (12.0.4) / Windows 7 64-bit setup. Maybe once a day, after using Photoshop for a while, the current document's colours will look like they're using the wrong colour space, usually looking more vivid and artificial. The only way out of the situation is to restart Photoshop.
Example 1: after editing an image in AdobeRGB, I flatten it and run an action to resize, sharpen, and convert to sRGB. Occasionally, the picture ends up looking psychedelic.
Example 2: after copying a selection in a flattened sRGB image, I create a new sRGB image and paste. Occasionally, the new image is clearly off, still similar hues but changed in tone and saturation; going back to the original window, there is visual corruption.
I've got an ATI HD5670 graphics card, and have gone through maybe 3 driver revisions while this problem has existed. It's too infrequent a problem to easily replicate, and what I usually do is save and earlier state as a PSD and reload Photoshop.
Any suggestions?

I've reset my ATI Catalyst settings and switched off Overdrive. I haven't done much with Photoshop this week, but I was working on an image just now and the problem happened again.
I use AdobeRGB workspace. I was working on an image, and, after finishing all my processing, I was doing my usual chores: running Dr Brown's Services to create two sets of JPEGs of different sizes and colourspaces with and without watermarks... I then ran an action for online gallery publishing:
Flatten Image
Fit Image to 2048 square
Smart Sharpen 0.4 pixels at 50%
Convert to sRGB with Relative Colormetric intent and BPComp.
Normally, this works fine. Occasionally (including just now), the colours go warm/vivid. As an experiment, I went back one step in History (avoiding the last conversion step above) and the colours are returned to normal. Go forwards again, and the image overheats. Going back a step and doing the colourspace conversion manually does not create the colour problem.
Why this should happen only occasionally, I have no idea. It gets the profile conversion wrong intermittently; maybe because it's part of an action assigned to a key combination. God knows. I'm baffled.
