DR8A doesn' WRITE anymore
Hi,
I have DR8-A DVD RW. I just flashed the firmware 1.2 to 1.5 using Live Update.
Everything worked fine, i restarted the computer etc.... Now i can read DVD (movies, the ones that i wrote before) can read CD s but i can' write DVD. I use Philips DVD+R 1-4x Media. I used that dvd media before but since the firmware update i cant write. It says burn completed succesfully(which takes 10-15 minutes) ejects the media and when i try to read it i cant.(when i look at the surface of the media i can see that its not empty ). I have Samsung DVD Rom SD 616E it doesn't read what i wrote too. If u have any idea suggestins about what i can do help me. THANKS....
Well i updated to the lastest software, didn't solve the problem.
Do you know where i can find an older firmware for DR8-A
i contacted to MSI they sended me 140D.bin so i did the fallowing:
started the comp. from ms dos boot disk and type
a:
dvflash 140d
then asked me to choose the drive to update, choose 1 for DR8A
bingo
can't open file !!!
but the file 140D.bin is not corrupted i also tried the 150D which you can find in the msi web site "can't open file"
i even copied the files to my ramdrive which is c:
Nothing Changes !!!

I have changed my DSL router and my Airport express device doesn' work anymore
Hello, After I changed my DSL router (from my internet provider, it's a netgear), my Airport Express doesn't work anymore. It shows a yellow light.
I have tried to unplug several times with no success. The Airport utility on my Mac (running MacOS 10.6.8) doesn't discover it.
Any idea?Unplug the AirPort Express from power

Hold in the reset button on the Express and keep holding it in for an additional 7-8 seconds while you simultaneously plug the Express back in to power
Release the reset button after the hold period and allow 40-45 seconds for the Express to restart and come back up to a slow blinking amber light.
Now the Express is back to factory settings
Look for a wireless network with a name like Apple Network xxxxxxx. You have to log on to that network first....no password is required.....then open AirPort Utility -
My friend used to have an iPhone and doesn't anymore but messages keep sending as imessage

He needs to turn of iMessage. That can be done in his support profile, or last resort is for him to use your phone, put his SIM in there and then turn off iMessage. It isn't yours to fix, it is his.

I dropped my iPhone 5 in toilet, it worked again, but a week later is doesn't anymore.
A week ago today, I dropped my iPhone in the toilet. The bottom half was submerged. I took it out immediately and tried to dry it. I had to get to class so I wiped it and put it face down in front of a fan on a paper towel so it could drain. I went to class for an hour and half then got rice from the store. I rushed back and put my phone in it over night. The next day, I plugged it in and it began to charge again. I had some issues the first day with the touch capabilities working sometimes and not other times. After that day, it worked fine again, except the regular camera and flashlight do not work. That didn't really matter to me as I am upgrading in a few months and the front-facing camera still works. The phone turns off near 20% battery, which is not too bad. Now, today, my phone died around 9%, but I didn't notice for awhile that it was dead. I plugged it into my laptop, but the phone charger was starting to rip. I thought that was why it wasn't charging. Then, I used another cord and it still did not charge. My two roommates each tried to get it to charge and both dropped my phone on the floor (Not sure if that has anything to do with the problems I'm having). I let it sit then plugged it back into my laptop. The battery picture with the red line showed up. I let it stay plugged in for about half an hour to come back to a phone with still a black screen. It was very hot so I unplugged it. I let it sit then retried again. The battery picture has not come back and it will not respond to charging from either an outlet or laptop. Not sure what to do or what is causing this. I read online that people used the "hard restart" with the home and lock buttons, but it is not working. I think it may be from dropping it in the toilet and falling on the floor, but I'm not sure. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Or at least get it to charge?
Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service. ASAP.

IChat was working perfectly - doesn't anymore -- please help
My ichat was working perfectly -- until my brother who has a dell with a camera - kept trying to video chat with me. It worked once - but after that all I saw was choppy video and my Ichat would shut down. THis is over a period of about a week -- my ichat would shut down. I tried to video chat with my sister today - she also has a new macbook - and the same thing happened!!! My ichat gets choppy, freezes and then shuts down unexpectedly. It never did this before my borhter wiht his Dell and his AOL set up tried to video chat. I thought maybe I needed to trash some cache or reset preferences??/ Or re-install ichat?? Or take my Macbook to the genius bar at the local apple store. I'm kind of bummed... any suggestions welcome.... otherwise my macbook works fine.
I attempted to video chat with one of the test sites for videochat. First the video was choppy and then it "quit unexpectedly". I'm including the error log if anyone can tell what the problem is from this - that woud be good...

My history will drop down from the navigation bar and highlight the letters I am typing so I can choose a previous page if I want to. But when I press enter to tell it to go to a site the drop down does not go away I have to click somewhere to make it go away. It is suppose to just go away when you click one of the history items it shows or press enter to go to a site and it doesn't anymore.Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

DVD-writer disappears by playing a self-made DVD-RW
HELP!
Yesterday I inserted a self-made DVD-RW in order to watch it again. Suddenly it stops playing and I cannot get the DVD-RW out of my Imac anymore!
Moreover, when I check my system information again now, it doesn't even recognize my DVD-burner (nor CD writer) anymore. It is as if this DVD "ate" my DVD-writer.
So my DVD is lost (it is in my machine and there is no way getting it out) and my disc burner has disappeared. None of the programs with which I used to burn CD's or DVD's, recognizes a disc writer anymore!
Can anyone help? I thought of downloading and installing the driver again, but I cannot find it anywhere on the internet.
I am making shortfilms, so it is very much needed to have a disc burner.
Would be great if anybody could help!

Go to: *Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility* and try ejecting the DVD from there or restart the iMac holding the mouse button.

Why does the remote app not work with Apple TV 1st gen anymore.
This is a review I just left on the app store, I am posting it word for word, and i hope that dowsnt complicate anything. My hope is that this finds the right party to address the situation, and if any user has a fix, I would love to hear it.
I have an Mac mini running iTunes as a server, I have 2 airport expresses to allowing airplay to them for different rooms, and I also have 2 Apple TV first gens... I can play one stream of music from the server, and have the option of playing 2 other streams of music from the apple tv's as they have a built in hard drive to sync music to. I can send any of the feeds to any o the devices in any room and i love it. This whole system used to work flawlessly... It doesn't anymore. The latest update of remote broke what was working so well. I can pull it up and see all 3 music sources, log into each and play music, no problem there. The problem is that when I want to log back into that device, it won't show what music is playing. It loads up to a trackpad... Why do I need a trackpad? the point of a wifi remote is that it interfaces directly with the library, not needing to see the display... Annoying enough in itself as none of my devices are actually hooked up to a screen, but whatever, annoying point aside, I back out of the trackpad and refresh the device playing music... The music is playing, but won't show on my remote, I can't pause, press next song or anything. I have to start over and pick a song and override the currently playing song. Even the volume control is broken. I used to control each volume of each of the multiple devices individually, they each had a slider in the multiple speaker view, now there is only one master volume slider... One speaker is in my baby's room... If she is sleeping I don't want to have to go into the room to physically adjust that speaker, I want an individual slider like there was before.
I used to be very happy with this app. I'm not anymore. I used to praise apple and promote the functionality of it to all of my friends. Now I'm just embarrassed when I can't control it when they are over. Embarrassed....
As another fail.... I want to describe another point. As I have the iTunes server, it should be able to handle multiple things at once. It can to an extent... For example, I can play music from the server to an airplay device, and I can go onto my iMac, load up iTunes, click on shared libraries ad load my entire library from my server. I ca also at the same time take my iPhone, click on music, and again pull up my entire shared library of music from the wifi server... It handles this very well. I recently purchased an Apple TV 3. As it does not have a built in hard drive, it relies on content from a locally attached network or stuff from your iTunes account. So while I can use my iPhone to pull up the entire shared library while its also playing elsewhere, why can Apple TV 3 not?... It's using iOS just like my iPhone. All it was good for was airplay as an extra speaker. It wouldn't work as an extra rendered source of media using the shared library. Needless to say, that Apple TV went back to the store. Fail Apple, Fail.... That was the only reason I bought one. Maybe Apple TV 4 will actually be functional without a hard drive.Working fine on my system

Can't open jpg attachments. Options/Applications setting doesn't work.
jpeg attachments won't open in email. Window opens asking what to do and what pgm to use but once selected it just saves it to my download file anyway. I've updated FF Options/Applications but it made no difference.

The fact that it worked, but it doesn't anymore means something has happened to interrupt this procedure.Remember if there was an update or something done that will explain it. As for the workaround I always saved as .RTF to avoid such troubles and it hasn't (yet) failed me. -
Firefox (I think version 5, maybe 4) does not ask to "remember" passwords anymore nor does it ask to "change" a password when I've done that. It didn't ask when I changed my Facebook password & I have to log in each time so I removed my username & password for FB on Firefox's "saved password" page. When I've don't that before, it asks to "remember" but doesn't anymore. I use a master password.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

I have updated my firefox to version 15.0. After this I have the effect that at some unspecified time during use many of the functions stop working. Menu's do not open, download links do not work anymore and so on. Opening new tab's or windows still works. Links on pages partly work partly not. Copy and paste does not work anymore on webpages. It takes ending the firefox process and restarting to correct the issue until it happens again. I have those effects on totally different webpages. At this time it happens every time after I start Firefox but not right away. Firefox first works for some time and then it suddenly doesn't anymore without me having done anything special

To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

My iphone doesn´t play sound on logitech pure-fi anywhere
Hi,
my iphone 4 recently quit playing music over the logitec Pure-Fi Anywhere Speakers. It did before but it doesn´t anymore. My husbands iphone still cooperates so it can´t be the speakers who are broken. My iphone still plays the sound on it´s own speakers but it won´t play them loud on the logitech speakers. I had this problem before but after a while it worked again ... is it a button I need to press or something else I am missing?

I mashed the buttons and now my L200P doesn't work!

I recently bought a second-hand ThinkVision L200P. I installed it behind a large sheet of glass, which seems to have had the unfortunate effect of pressing all the buttons at once for an extended period of time, and now my L200P doesn't display an image.
I opened up the L200P case (it's second hand) and took out the little 'button bar' PCB to make sure none of them were stuck in. By pressing the little switches on the PCB, I see the following behaviour:
Upon pressing the power button, I see the 'IBM Thinkpad' splashscreen for a moment, then it disappears. I think it used to then say 'Power Saving mode' but it doesn't anymore.
Upon presssing and holding the menu button for 10 seconds, I get the message 'Menu Locked'. If I press and hold for a further 10 seconds, I get 'Menu Unlocked'. The text is clear and bright green
None of the other buttons appear to do anything, even after pressing them many times and holding them for long periods
Powering on while holding 'left' and 'right' arrows does nothing
Holding 'right' arrow without any connectors in does nothing
My hunch is that mashing the buttons has somehow, say, turned down the brightness and contrast and locked the menu or something. But I don't know how to undo it.
What should be my next step? Like I said I've opened the case, so I'd be happy to 'hard reset' the unit by shorting a jumper or something.

Message Edited by kennardconsult on 08-04-2009 02:01 AMLcd screen are not consumer serviceable parts.......... it is not like a laptop. There is no hard reset in LCD monitors like you are suggesting. You would need a new PCB from somewhere, you could try to source a broken L200p and salvage that part, but other than that there is little you can do.

Itunes volume adjust doesn't take in ipod
i ripped an audio book on my imac because the optical drive on my powerbook stopped working. then i moved the audio book over to my powerbook and put it on my ipod. the volume was too soft so i adjusted it in itunes and resynched.
there was really no change except that on my ipod, when i turn up the volume, the volume stops increasing when the volume slider is about halfway across the screen. the slider keeps moving, but the volume stops increasing.
what can i do? any thoughts? help!!No, I'm in Australia. Itunes 'volume adjustment' USED to work...but it *doesn't* anymore...;/??
I even updated the latest itunes...but still *nothing*
