Drafts Displayed as New Mail

I'm running TB 24.5.0 with two IMAP mailboxes, and for one of them I recently accidentally clicked "archive" without having used that feature before.
I managed to unarchive the email and get rid of the newly created "Archive" folder.
I don't know if it's related, but suddenly autosaved drafts for that mailbox show up as new.
I don't get a popup notification, but when new email arrives, the autosaved drafts are also shown.
Also, the drafts folder is formatted to signal new mail (bold font, "(1)" behind the folder title).
In the drafts folder's properties, "Check this folder for the new messages..." is NOT checked.
How can I fix this?

Drafts will show a new message if you are composing in an open Write message window and have either manually saved or auto saved a new message to the Drafts folder.
It will stay bold so that you know the save worked and to remind you that there is a saved draft of an email which has perhaps not been sent
This is normal.

I really do not believe that many forum members have this brand new notebook and you will be very lucky if someone can offer some assistance. Have you already checked userss manuals? Maybe you can find there explanation how it works with small Toshiba's organic light emitting diode (OLED) "Edge Display".
I just know that this small display shows email and calendar notifications, and must be synchronized with your email client. It will even continue to update when the unit is in sleep mode

OSX 10.5.8 Mail stop displaying new mail on 24/5/2012

Hi All,
I've got 2 gmail account in my mac mail. One of them stopped display new mail on 24/5/2012. The last mail that I've got is 23:45pm 23/5/2012. When I try to get new mail for that mail box, the mail ativity shows they are loading 43 incoming messages. However, once the loading is done, nothing shows up.
As I said i've got 2 gmail accounts in the mail and the other account is working fine.
Any ideas?

Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup
Note, in 10.5 & up /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/ may or may not exist.

How to Automatically display new mail as it comes in.

I would prefer to see new mail in the inbox without having to click Get Messages or having to scroll down. Is this possible? Thanks

Not able to display alert on arrival of new mail in inbox

STRANGE PROBLEM with "Create New Mail Account.scpt" when creating POP acct.

I am using "Create New Mail Account.scpt" to create a POP account. It creates the account successfully. It fetches the mails successfully. Now the problem begins. After fetching all the mails once if u click "Get Mail" in mac mail, it fetches all the emails again and has now 1 original and 1 copy of the email set which is on the server. I just need 1 copy of the mail set not multiple. Please give me a solution or direct me to a help.

I can't quite tell what it's doing, but open Keychain Access in Applications>Utilities, click on your Keychain on the left, put .mac in the search bar, once you find it, double click on it and click show password.
If you have no mail in there try this with Mail quit.
Drag this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Start Mail & see if it steps you through it.
Not sure on the .uk thing, but is Date & Time>Time Zone set to the UK?

Can I set the position of the new mail window?

Each time I compose a new message, the new message window seems to appear at a different place, usually obscuring the main window. I would like to have it always appear to the side of the main window. Can I set this, perhaps in the property list?

Perhaps something is corrupt that is causing bad behavior for some users and so my comments are unhelpful, but here's some more data to add to this discussion: My Mail.app behaves as George Coghill described above, subsequent message windows open where the previous window was open.
For example- Close all Mail.app windows so that only the main "Message Viewer" window is open (basically, don't have any emails that you're in the middle of drafting open). Open a new message, adjust the position as you wish, then close it. When you open another new message, does it have the same position as the one you just adjusted? It should.
However, for me, sometimes it would be off by a few pixels as Thomas A Reed described above. I realized that this was because I had another compose window open in the background. So as you troubleshoot, make sure no other compose windows are open, to remove one complication and help isolate the issue.
Side note: in cases where the original window's height fully extended across the display, the new window would be shifted over to the right only, but not down at all as some apps do (like Mac Word, annoyingly). Another note: if you maximize the original window, subsequent windows also open maximized and unshifted.
A corollary to the paragraph immediately above is that if you open say 3 new windows, the second one will be shifted and the third one will be even more shifted. Let's say you send all 3, and now open a new window, it has the position of the 3rd window. Annoying. Yes, it would be nice if it always opened new windows in the exact same position, but Apple likely won't do this since people will get confused and think they lost the window if it doesn't do the shifting. I guess the take-away is draft one message at a time or maximize your composition windows, otherwise it's going to move :/
A band-aid solution: When a window isn't positioned how you like it, a quick/simple way to reposition it is with apps like Moom (my favorite), Cinch, Divvy, SizeUp, etc. While I'm at it I should mention RightZoom, which makes the green zoom button behave like the Windows maximize button, and Cordless Dog Stay, which is great if you connect/disconnect your laptop to a screen causing the window positions to always get disturbed between displays.

Why do I have limited icons in my new mail window?

I am just setting up my mac. When starting a new email, I don't see all icons in the toolbar in the new mail window. Address, Colors, Save as Draft, Photo Browser, and Show Sationary are missing. Do I need to select something to display the full set?

Click the Big A to show the font/colors. If it doesn't appear on the toolbar then right click the toolbar and select Customize toolbar..

E-mail not updating or pushing new mail

Hi,
I have a new iphone 4 and have a mobile me account. I am set up to automatically push messages from the server to my phone but it doesn't appear to be happening.
I only ever keep relevant messages in my in box, normally about 5 or 6 so can't think that it is a space issue.
Connecting via my iphone takes an age and the front screen that displays, inbox, drafts, sent etc is showing 65 messages yet on my mac mail account I have just 3.
New messages just don't appear or I keep getting blank messages with a 2001 date - very confused!
Software and syncing is up to date but I am not sure what to check / do differently to make it work properly.
My old 3G had no problems until I upgraded my software - and I presumed that when I upgraded my handset the problems would disappear.

The first issue of my inbox stating 65 messages solved it's self after I updated itunes and downloaded the most recent software for my iphone - after restarting my inbox it reset it's self to say 3 messages - so problem solved.
I then took a trip to my local Apple shop - instore they checked if my push was set correctly - I was told it wasn't, so the guy reset it and bugger me a new message popped automatically in to my inbox very soon afterwards - I rubbed my hands together in glee.
Until today I am at home and on my mac and a message appeared in my inbox, checked my phone and nope - no message!
My iphone says it was lasted updated this morning at 7.41 am and I get the little whirliegig thing, suggesting that it is checking for new mail but yet my new message just doesn't appear.
Have also checked mobileme and it states the correct message numbers, read and unread ones!
So back to the drawing board.
My nearest Apple shop is 40 miles away - feel another trip coming on but I am guessing that the issue is with the software and not with my settings of my iphone!

How can I add a button to Outlook's ribbon that select a new pre-define form to send ?
I already have the button but I miss an instruction like that:

Outlook forms are associated with items based on the message class values. To get a specific inspector window displayed you need to create an Outlook with the associated message class.

TS3276 cannot send open a new mail window. hear a small beep

it will not let me open a new mail screen. The mail is working (all green dots) I just hear a faint beep.....please help!

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

Mail hang with multiple pop accounts and invalid new mail counter

More than a year ago, I migrated all email accounts from Outlook to Apple Mail using O2M application. I have 2 pop accounts and gmail account. Everything worked fine for a few month but then Mail started to hang during message receiving. It did so very often (4/5 times). When it does, nothing will revive it except a "force quit".
I tried to fetch email from each account individually, that worked well every time. After I was sure that it has to do with getting new mail simultaneously, I tried everything to fix it. I tried to reconstruct all the mail boxes, I tried using only 2 boxes with all combinations (1 pop 1 gmail, 2 pop, etc) but nothing worked.
I even tried to export all my mail boxes, then delete everything from Mail then reimport them with no luck.
In addition, a couple of months later, my "Inbox" new mail counter started to sometimes displaying the wrong new mail count. It displays 2-4 new messages while there is none. In order to be sure, I created a smart mail box to have only new mail and it had none. By simply switching to any other folder then returning back to Inbox solves the problem.
Can any one help?

Make absolutely sure that your email addresses and configuration are correct. In nearly every case I've encountered, this is the problem.
If you've confirmed this, make sure you're configured properly on your webmail account, if you have one. Webmail is something like ATT, the source of your internet.
If you're still flummoxed, play hardball. Make sure you have all your current account info and passwords, and delete them in Mail/Preferences/Accounts. Then, reenter them one by one until they're perfect. This makes sure your settings are consistent and correct.

I think your only solution is to zip the image files first and then attach them.
Read this from a site I found:
Sending Graphical Attachments -- When you attach a graphical image to your message, the recipient of your message sees the image inline (that is, in the body of the message) if her email client supports inline display. ("Take Control of Email with Apple Mail" contains a table listing the capabilities of popular Mac and PC email clients.) If a client does not support inline display (or the recipient has turned off the inline display option), the file appears as an attachment that must be opened in a separate program.
On the one hand, an inline image is easier for the recipient to see - all she has to do is look at it. On the other hand, inline images can be frustrating to scroll through. If you do not wish to send a graphical image inline, you must compress the file before attaching it - Mail, sadly, lacks a built-in compression option, though fortunately for Panther users, the Finder offers Zip compression without requiring a separate application.
Note that when you compose a new message, Mail always shows attachments in the body of your message. You can manually drag them somewhere else, but many email clients display all attachments in a separate list, regardless of where you place them in the message body.
If you paste an image into a message or drag & drop an image from another window (say, a Web browser), Mail converts the raw image data to an attachment in TIFF format. On the other hand, if you drag & drop the icon of an image file (or use the Attach button to locate the file using the file browser), Mail leaves the attached image in its original format. This difference is significant, because although most email clients can display JPEG images just fine, support for TIFF - especially in non-Mac email clients - is less common. If possible, I suggest attaching image files as opposed to pasting or dragging in raw image data.

Can't get into talk talk email account in Mozilla, you have undefined new mails in your inbox message. No problem with Internet Explorer though

I've been using the Firefox browser for nearly a year now but for the past three days I can't open my tiscali email account via Firefox. The message "you have undefined new mails in your inbox" comes up. Talk Talk technical help says there is a problem with Firefox and advised me to use Internet Explorer. I can get into my account through Explorer but would much prefer to use Firefox so please help me out.

Apparently TalkTalk mail will work with Firefox 4 and Firefox 5 ''if'' you set the browser to ''lie'' to TalkTalk mail by saying that you are still using version 3.6.

Note: when you open about:config the first time, it will display a warning message that you should be careful with the changes you make. That's definitely good to bear in mind.

I am currently volunteering in Uganda, so data is precious. I can no longer afford unlimited data, I pay by MB/GB. All of a sudden Mail has stopped receiving. I wait until about 60meg, but no new mail. Using Gmail. Doctor says connected fine.

I wait until about 60meg, but no new mail. Using Gmail. Connectivity Doctor says connected fine. No probs there. And weirdly, when I want to send an email. I write it, it takes absolutely ages to try to send but as soon as I click disconnect it sends the email. Very odd. I would just love to be able to write all my emails offline and save to drafts/Outbox and then just connect to send and check emails then disconnect again.
