Drafts Folder question Please

I notice that every once in a while I get a Drafts folder showing on my left sidebar when I haven't saved anything as a draft. I can't seem to get rid of it even by closing MAIL and reopening the program.
Can someone possibly explain this behavior and how I can delete the folder?

If you have an IMAP account the Drafts folder will be created on the server. If you have a POP account it's created on your local drive. Any time you compose mail the Drafts folder would be re-created if the composed message isn't sent out quickly. This saves the message in case something happens. It's quite innocuous. Leave the folder be as it is harmless.

After years of fighting the urge to move all of my emails, contacts and calendars to MobileMe, I decided to take the leap and started with iCloud. It's been ok for the last week and really cool how it keeps everything in sync across all of my devices, but the last couple of days have been miserable with the email portion. It's been slow as heck and really buggy. Now the new thing is saving drafts while I'm typing an email, every 30 seconds, which is ok, as long as they would delete after I successfully SEND them! I shouldn't have to go in and delete 7 draft messages that were saved while typing an email, manually. And yes, I know the workaroud about turning off "save on server," but that workaround is on the mail.app. This is happening on the web interface (iCloud.com) as well, which is where I'm experiencing the problem.
Mom always said, "if it's not broken, don't fix it." So maybe I should've stayed with google and gmail because I am sad to say, I had ZERO problems with syncing anything, for the last couple of years, while using it.

i have the same problem. nothing gets saved to Sent or Drafts folders on iCloud.com.
While sending e-mail on my Mac or iPad everything works perfectly and syncs correctly but if I go to icloud.com there is nothing saved to Sent od Drafts. I checked the preferences and everything is correct.

You can't use icloud to store photos. There's a service called photo stream which is used to sync photos from one device to another, but this can't be used to store photos permanently.
Always sync photos from a device to your computer, Then you can delete them from the device.

Scenario: I have below configuration of exchange 2010 server Setup:
1. Windows Domain Controller with Global Catalog on Windows Server 2008 which only for Windows 2008 Server Native.
Server Name: WDC2010
Domain: Blazex.Com
2. Hub/Client Access Server: It is installed on Windows Server 2008. As per Microsoft recommendation, I have just installed Windows Server 2008 and then join this computer to Blazex.com.
After that installed the Hub/Client Access Exchange role servers.
Server Name: HC2010.blazex.com (This is not a Addition Member server or ADC)

I don't know what I am missing but I think there is some configuration I need to do on Hub/Client Access Server (HC2010). I tried to access the mailbox on XP Client system through OWA. I get the same problem as Win7.
Can someone please help me on this?

3.     Please check application log, whether any error event logged there. They could come from ADAccess related error or etc.
I didn't see any ADAccess event on the server. For this I have left my lab PC open and I will check again.
4.     We find that if mail .que gets corrupt, then this issue will occur, please try to move the affected user to another store and then test the issue.
I am facing this problem with all users (7 users). Anyway I moved one user from one server Mailbox Database (2mbx2010) to Other Server Mailbox Database (mbx2010). After that
a) Rebooted the Workstation
b) Login successfully with same user.
c) Delete the Old MS Outlook Profile
d) Create New profile for same user without any problem.

There will be some error log you will be that the system is not able to communicate with DC/DC, MBX or HC at everyday around 3 AM or some time 6 PM Evening also. These error came because I have installed VM on Windows 7 Workstation and after 45 min or one hrs. if I don't work on PC, then pc goes to sleep. so you may ignore these alerts.

Ghost Copy Left Behind in drafts folder...

IMAP: I have an issue where I have items with small 1 page pdf attachments stored in the drafts folder.
Sometimes when I decide to send them (all from the same FROM address) - they will send ok and all appear in sent folder, but randomly they will also leave a copy in drafts - which gets confusing....
Q: Why are just SOME leaving a copy behind while others don't? How do I get this to NOT leave any in drafts...?

the temp fix of unchecking/checking "store sent messages on the server" seems like a unsatisfactory solution given the price we pay for mobileme so I contacted support chat and to my shock and awe they (at least for the time being) found a way to make it stop using some really novice and simple steps I just hadn't tried, transcript of the chat session below:

Autosaving to drafts folder

Hi all, not sure if this should be in this forum or workspace but i was just wondering if there was a feature to automatically save a form periodically into the drafts folder (to avoid losing work if the session times out, or power loss, etc). I'm hoping theres a simple setting to get this functionality.
But in case there isn't what i was thinking to do (and please correct my logic if needed) was to create a custom component that would be exposed through a webservice that would be able to move/copy a task into the users draft queue. This service would be called periodically as the user progresses through the form (hopefully there is some type of timer event, worst comes to worst i'll call it when the user exits certain fields).
Now the issue is which api calls to use to move the task into the drafts queue. I have found TaskManager function changeQueueForTask() which takes the task id and the queue id. Now the question i have is how to get the id for the drafts queue? Or is this the wrong function call? Any help would be appreciated.

The draft is not a queue. A queue is associated to a user but the draft is just a different state of the current task being assigned to the user.
If there is a solution, it would be more along the line of saving or updating the current task, rather than re-assigning it.
I'll do a bit more research to see if I can come up with something.

Mail hangs when click on message in draft folder

Mail is working ok. However I have a message sitting in my draft folder that when I click on it, it causes Mail to hang completely. I would love to delete it from the folder but I can't even get near it without hanging.
Any clues on how to get rid of this troublesome message and problem?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
          SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if Safari crashed, you would enter "Safari" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
In the Console window, select
          DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

I can no longer send emails and my drafts folder no longer functions. How do I fix them?

I am using Windows XP. I have Mozilla Firefox 3.6. My Gmail account no longer can send emails and my Drafts folder is inoperable. I can see, save, discard, or edit anything in Drafts. This is only with my home pc. Any other computer (library, work..) does work. How do I fix this?

Please read and begin using Can receive email, but not send email. I had a similar issue with Comcast mail (could receive by not send) and found my answer in this letter. For me it took resetting the outgoing mail and telling the system to use a password when sending outgoing mail. If you need help with that please advise and I'll tell you where to look.

Exchange 2013 SP1 server working for several months now messages are getting stuck in drafts folder

This a small, simple environment. There is a MS Server 2012 R2 server hypervisor with a MS Server 2012 R2 VM running Exchange 2013 patched to SP1. This server has been deployed into production and passing mail without issues for several months.
Upon initial deployment, we experienced the issue that many have reported and that has been widely documented where Mail Flow works fine inbound, but outbound will stick in the drafts folder. We resolved the issue by manually configuring the IP Address of
our internal DNS server (which is an installed role on our hypervisior / base layer server). The issue was immediately resolved and mail was flowing in both directions without issue. We later installed SP1 and there was no issue. Mail has
been flowing normally all the while.
Now fast-forward through several weeks of reliable mail delivery... We experienced a power loss and a system shutdown and upon reboot, inbound is working and outbound goes to drafts. I've confirmed DNS Lookup settings in ECP still points to our internal
server as previously configured. Both servers have internet access, NSLOOKUP returns expected values, and DNS appears to be working normally.
I'm not sure if we had an MS Update that installed with the reboot that caused the breakage, if there was a lingering settings change that took effect on reboot, or what is causing the interruption. I'm looking for some fresh ideas on where to look
for answers, and all the information available on the drafts folder issue points to DNS settings that have already been put in place.
Any constructive ideas are welcome! Thanks in advance.

Long story short, I'm not sure how or why, but there were a few automatic services that were not starting "automatically." I'm used to seeing some services that are triggered by the application to start and stop on their own, so I didn't necessarily
panic when there were a few automatic services that were stopped..
However, The MS Exchange Health Manager, and the Mailbox Submission services weren't running. After manually starting the services my drafts folder emptied and we are back in business.. Maybe not "innovative" as you said, but it certainly put us on
the right track. We were looking so hard at DNS because of all the reported cases of "stuck in drafts" being related to DNS, we totally overlooked the obvious, so THANKS!
Now the only question is, what stopped the services and why did they not restart automatically??

Summary :
We are using SharePoint 2010 Ent edition and users were able to checkout Pdf files similar to local drafts folder like any other office file without any problem when they used office 2010.
i.e
Unfortunately ever since their machines upgraded with office 2013 recently , this functionality completely stopped working for PDF files. This has now become a big problem for the users when it comes to check out and replace PDF files.
All browser plugins required for this functionality (i.e SharePoint OpenDocuments Class ) are all available and active. All document libraries are configured to Checkout is required for editing files. Browser version
used at the moment is IE9 (32 bit) version with windows 7.
Can anyone please help with this issue and any help to get away with this problem is much appreciated.

Based on your description, my understanding is that the PDF files cannot be checked out to local drafts folder after Office 2013 is installed.
Did this issue occur with Office files?
I recommend to check if the Office files can be checked out to local drafts folder with Office 2013.
And it is recommended to use Office 2010 with SharePoint 2010 for best practice.

No checkbox appears in dialong box to "use local drafts folder"

Using Windows 8.1, ,Word 2013, and IE 11. When I edit a document from SharePoint Foundation 2010 (Hosted), no checkbox appears in the Microsoft Internet Explorer dialog box to "use local drafts folder". As a result, no SharePoint
Drafts folder is created in the location specified under Word 2013 Save Option for offline editing and the SharePoint file is not downloaded locally. I performed the following troubshooting steps below with no fix so far.
1) Confirmed that "SharePoint OpenDocuments Class" is "enabled" as an add-on under IE.
2) Confirmed that Word 2013 Save setting for offline editing are marked as follows:
Save checked-out files to “The server drafts location on this computer”
Server draft location: \\users\xxxx\documents\SharePoint Drafts
3) Tried the SharePoint checkout and editing on a Windows 7, IE 11, Word 2010 workstation and there was no issue. Checkbox appears.
I've exhausted all resources. Please assist with providing next steps. Unable to load a Screen shot below due to account validation critieria.

According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to display the “use local drafts folder”.
In Office 2013 it is by design.
The “Use my local drafts
folder” functionality has been removed for Office
2013.
This step has been done in order to improve the Client/Server communication by removing some of the redundant network calls generated by this process.
In order to get office files synchronized with SharePoint document libraries you could
use SkyDrive Pro instead.
SkyDrive Pro is getting installed with Office 2013 but is available as a standalone setup as well. But please note that SkyDrive Pro requires to have a SharePoint server
2013 installed or a O365 subscription, which brings SPO
2013.
If you want to use the “use my local drafts folder”, you should install the Office 2010 instead of Office 2013.

Problem with Drafts folder

I'm back on the x2 BT Yahoo mail but it still acts up like a Beta version.
Last week I input a lengthy email but had to save it in my Drafts folder pending further info that I needed. That came today so I looged in to my mail, saw that the Drafts folder had a '1' next to it but when I click on it to open it its says that there are no emails in my Drafts folder.
If I log out than back in, it again says shows the '1'. I wait until thge page has loaded but still get the blasted 'no emails in your Drafts folder'.
I can't find any previous threads on this - has anyone else had the same problem please?

Glad it worked.
Regarding Advanced Search, you first need to use the Mail Search facility.
When you get your results, on the left hand side you get a section headed "Refine Results"
Below this you get "Advanced Search" and "Search Tips"
Clicking on "Advanced Search" you get all sorts of options one of which is selecting the folders to search.
This is based on BT Yahoo Mail Classic, I cannot guarantee that it is the same on the later versions that I do not recommend.

Sent Messages in Mail are being Stored in Drafts Folder

Hi,
This does not happen to every message only some, but it happens to really important messages - I'm a freelance writer and it happens when I'm sending a resume or talking to a client.
When I hit send, the message shows up in my sent mail as being sent, but it also remains stored in my drafts folder. Sometimes I send a message and it shows sent and then a day later, that same message is in my drafts folder. A couple of times, even though they ended up in my sent folder, the recipient did not receive the message. Sometimes they receive them sometimes they don't, but I never know.
Can someone explain this and help me resolve this issue? Has this happened to anyone else?

If Mail put the message in Sent, that means
the outgoing (SMTP) server told Mail that the message
would be delivered. If the message never reached its
destination, it could be because the SMTP server
didn’t fulfill its promise or because the message was
filtered out by either the recipient’s incoming mail
server or the recipient’s mail client for some
(probably spam-related) reason.
The fact that Mail sometimes fails to remove the copy
of the message from Drafts after sending it is
a glitch that has nothing to do with whether the
message was received or not, and appears to happen

I use .mac for email and I prior to writing, I checked my preferences and made sure to uncheck "store drafts on the server." I'll see how that goes. Thank you though for answering my question.

How to change local draft folder loaction in sharepoint server

Hi,
please help me that how to change local draft folder location for documnet libery in sharepoint server.
because by default when we check out document that documnet store in c:/documnet setting folder in our local drive.
i want to store in another location is this possible if yes then how to.
Please help me.

While the steps below are fine for Word (and I gather that Excel, Powerpoint have similar steps), what
about Project 2007? We have Project 2007 SP3, and (a) it doesn't have an Office Button like the core Office 2007 products, and (b) the SharePoint Local Drafts folder isn't listed in the Save options. Please advise!

checked out to you in Office system program: click “Microsoft Office Button”>select “Word Options”>select “Save”>in
Offline editing options for document management server files> in Server drafts location
box, type the location on your hard disk where you want to work with checked-out files, or click
Browse and find the location.
