Drag Adjustment Layer to Another Image

How can I drag a layer onto another image in PSE4?
Scott Kelby says "drag-and-drop Levels Layer onto one of your other open photos."
I can only see one image at a time in Standard Edit.
I opened 3 photos and saw them cascade as they opened; but then the last one stayed on top.
I can see the others in the Photo Bin only.
I can select any one to be in main window, but not all 3.
How can I arrange them in Cascade mode?

Copy a shape layer to another image?

The only way I've found to copy a shape layer from one image to another is to have both images showing in the Editing pane and to drag and drop the shape layer from the Layers panel onto the other image.
That's a rather tedious process. Is there another way to do it, hopefully a keyboard combo?

Copy a text layer to another image in the same location

I am trying to find a way to copy a text layer in one image to another image of the same size so that the text layer is in the exact same location.
Basically I have two images for a rollover button for a website. What is the easiest way to copy a text layer to the other image so that it will be in the exact same location to create the rollover effect?

Right click on the layer, Duplicate Layer, set destination to the other image file in the dropdown.

Curves adjustment layer for greyscale images

If you are editing a greyscale image, the curves adjustment layer is shown in "reverse" style (as you would expect to work with a CMYK image) that that is awkward to work with. If you use Image->Adjustment->Curves, you have the option to invoke the curve display in Light (0-255) or Pigment/Ink % in which the LIGHT does what is appropriate.. It would be nice to have the ability to toggle the Light/Pigment in the Curves Adjustment layer.
I think I remember that, in the good old days of CS/CS2, you could alt-click on the gradient to alter the tonal direction of the curve.

Woops... I just found that the Curves Adjustment layer flyout has a Curves Display Options that allows the setting - and it is sticky. Sorry for the waste bandwidth.

hi, i have a strangely uncooperative photoshop image. i put a curve adjustment layer on it to increase the contrast [single layer file] and it has no effect. what could be going on?

You can. Use the move tool to drag the picture (not from the layers panel) to the other tab. Wait for the view to switch and then place on the other image. A new layer will appear.
If this doesn't work, you may need to reset the tool or the Photoshop preference file.

In this tutorial at the last step it says to add a photo filter image adjustment layer on the image to give it a warm finish, I can't see any adjustment palette as shown in image. I use a CS3 Extended.

Wow, again I stand corrected.
I have a perceptual "blind spot" when it comes to finding textual entries in lists. It's a "hidden in plain sight" kind of quirk that I normally work around either by being diligent or finding another way (e.g., pressing the button I highlighted above). I'm sure magicians and people who design camouflage would understand it.
I actually looked in both Photoshop CS5 and CS3 and didn't perceive that entry before I wrote my post above. I probably looked right at it but didn't sense it was there. I was even thinking of writing up a bug report. Now, of course, since you've pointed it out, I go back and look again in my copies of Photoshop and I do see it. It's a bit of a scary realization, as I have to wonder what else in life I've missed because of this. I'm reminded mildly of the scene in the old film "The Andromeda Strain" where the lab worker sees a flashing red "NO GROWTH" indicator but doesn't take action on it because of an epileptic block.

CS4 - how do you drag adj. layers to other images?

I used to drag adjustment layers between opened image files in CS1. Recently I upgraded to CS4.
Using CS4, even if you open several images at one time, only one of those images is visible on screen at a time.
With only one image visible, how do you drag adjustment layers to other images that are "opened" but not visible on screen?

The application frame isn't the ultimate cause of or solution to this problem. It's the tabbed documents that make the difference, because if you have the tabbed document preference turned on, they'll open as tabs even if the application frame is turned off.
There are a couple of more direct solutions.
If you like tabbed documents, you can still drag one layer to another but you have to use the Move tool. Select the adjustment layer, grab the Move tool, and drag from the document to the tab of the destination window. The destination tab will light up, letting you know you can now drop the layer in the other document.
Or, if you don't like the tabbed documents and want to see them all, split the documents apart. You can drag the tabs out of each other so that the windows float. Or, if you have the application frame on, it's a lot faster to just click the Arrange Documents button in the Application Bar and choose one of the n-up display options to get a nice tiled display. The tiled display is a lot easier to manage than several floating documents.
In any case, you can do all this while leaving the Application Frame on.

Gradient adjustment layer

Hi,
I'm new to adjustment layers. I'm able to make such layers now, but when selecting gradient and selecting "align with layer" option, it actually aligns with the whole document, not just the layer. When I click between the adjustment layer and the image layer while holding ALT, the gradient is out of view.
How can I have a full gradient on one particular layer?

The align with layer seems to only work if you have a selection when you create the gradient fill layer, or the gradient fill layer is limited by it's own layer mask. Holding the alt key down and clicking between the gradient fill layer and a lower layer will clip the gradient fill layer to that layer, and the gradient will only show where the underlying had some visibility. Doing this will not change the way the gradient fill layer is applyed by using the align with layer. You would need to make a selection of the underlying layer and apply that selection to the gradient fill layer's mask. Seems like it should work with a clipping mask, but it doesn't seem to do that.

How do I copy a layer to another photo?

My photos are all consolidated to tabs.
I thought it was possible to for example, select a text layer click and hold, drag it onto a different photo tab and release. This would copy the text layer from the first, onto the second.
Well I can't get it to work. If instead of consolidate to tabs, I select float all in windows, THEN I can drag and drop my layers onto another photo.
Surely this is still possible if all photos are on Tabs?

I tried that John. My layer "moves" but when I rest it on another tab.and then release, it doesn't move onto the new photo.
I seem to remember a previos comment that one drags the layer to another tab and then holds it for a few seconds to make the second tab active, and then release. In my case, that second tab never becomes active.

Adjustment Layer to make my videos black!

When i use Adjustment Layer on top of my videos, as soon as i use ANY effect my video goes black. If i delete the effects my video shows again. It happens on every project i have and it's annoying because i use the adjustment layer to create a look and then i can control the intensity reducing the opacity. If i apply the same effects directly on the clips, works fine.

It solved the problem. Not only this problem, but my problem with Secondary Color Correction was solved too!
The problem now is that all the effects i need to render (usually i use curves and don't need to render).
Any way i can solve this "Open CL" problem?
