Drag and Drop e-mails to a SharePoint Online Folder

Summary
E-mail to a list is not available in SharePoint Online (yet) and it is difficult to move e-mails from Outlook to a SharePoint list for collaboration, storage and search.  The following steps will put a file on the users desktop that will open a SharePoint list and then you can drag and drop e-mails into the proper folder.
Step 1
Create a drag and drop folder location for SharePoint Online e-mails
1.       Go to your SharePoint Online shared documents location
2.       Create the folder structure that you want for your e-mail storage
3.       Click on your top folder
4.       Click on Actions
5.       Open with Windows Explorer
6.       In the address bar at the top of the Explorer Window copy the address
Step 2
Go to Start, Computer
1.       Click on Map Network Drive
2.       Paste the address copied above into the Folder box
3.       Check Reconnect at logon
4.       Take note of the drive letter given or choose a drive letter
*note these instructions are for Windows 7 – you can search help for Map Network Drive for the OS you are using
Step 3
Open Notepad
1.       Type in the following:
“explorer z:”  (leave out the quotation marks and enter the drive letter in step 2
2.       Click File
3.       Click Save As
4.       File name OpenEmail.bat
·         Note the file name does not matter but the .bat has to be there
·         Save to the Desktop
When a user wants to open the SharePoint location that stores e-mail they double click on OpenEmail.bat and it will open in an Explorer view which will allow for e-mails to drag and drop from Outlook into the folder.

For drag and drop of emails from Outlook to SharePoint we are using a third party
SharePoint Outlook Integration tool called PageLight. PageLight also offers
Save Outlook emails to SharePoint functionality

I want to drag and drop a mail from mailbox to a webpage for uploading.
is it possible to do that?

In the edit page mode, click the pencil of the region were your portlets are. A region is a box with a dotted line. In the first tab you have the ability to select "Allow action". Default this is set to "all". When you set it to "none", your portlets can not be drag & dropped.

  • When moving a file using drag and drop, as I hover over the destination folder it no longer opens, so I can't drop the file into the folder.  Why?

When moving a file using drag and drop, as I hover over the destination folder it no longer opens, so I can't drop the file into the folder.  Why?  I have a heirarchical embedded folder structure under \Documents.  Usually, as I drag the file to be moved over the various folders, they will blink twice, then expand/open to reveal contents (in Finder).  Now, when the file to be moved is held (hovering) over the destination folder, it will not blink or expand, so there's no place to drop the file.  If I release the mouse button, the file image disappears, showing that it is "going back to the place it came from", a.k.a. was not moved.  This just started happening.  I noticed it after upgrading to Mavericks.  Is this a bug or could anything else be causing this?

As of today, Apple Support discovered during a remote support session with me that the same thing happens on their own system.  It is isolated to "Column View"; the Icon and List views in Finder behave correctly.  Issue is being escalated to engineering, and Apple will call to report status in a couple days.  In all likelihood, this is a bug that will need to be addressed in a future update.

  • Drag and Drop prob (Mail)

When I drag and drop text in a Mail message it drops a copy in the new location and leaves the original text in place. I guess there must be a setting somewhere to allow what I would call normal behavior (ie the text moves location when dragged, equivalent to cut and paste) but I can't find it. Anyone?
(EDIT) - Couldn't find an answer to this when I searched the communities but when I posted the above, a link to a similar question (with an answer) appeared Re: Strange drag and drop text editing behavior in Mail, so thanks for reading this but no answer is now required)

You might consider using the "Archive" capability of Mail.  Look at Archive in Mail Help.

  • How do I enable text drag and drop in Mail?

Simple enough question. I'm sure I had this at one time in my Mail app, but it doesn't work now, and I see nothing in Preferences to enable it. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?

Just found the problem. The old Kensington Turbo Mouse I was using won't work with drag and drop. It doesn't work even when I dedicate one of the four buttons specifically to Drag. Attaching the regular mouse solves the issue.
(Though not, interestingly, with the text in InDesign, the application I'm using throughout the day).

  • Enable Drag and Drop from mail to inbox folder

Using Outlook 2007... Somehow my drag and drop function has been disabled. I can no longer select an email and move it into a mail folder by dragging and dropping. I am able to right click and select "move to" but dragging and dropping is much
more efficient with the volume of email I'm receiving. This happened to me years ago but the company's IT guy fixed it while I was out of the office. When asked he said I had typed a keyboard code unknowingly that disabled the function. Any ideas on how to
regain the awesomeness that is drag and drop??

    Hi,
Some users who encountered the same issue are able to resolve it by pressing ESC key for several times, you may have a try and let me know the result.
If above doesn't make any change, we may try to right-click the email you want to move and drag it to the target folder, then select Move from the pop-up menu to see if it will work.

  • Drag and drop multiple mail messages into a folder in finder

    Hello All,
I want to archive emails into folders in the finder. I can do this by dragging and dropping individual emails but not bulk emails.
Does anywone know the best way of doing this?
The reason I want to do it is once we have compleated a contract with a client, I want to archive all the messages, pictures, contacts etc into one finder folder. This way, my mail app wont keep growing horribly in size every year.
    Thank you

Is the Archive function within Mail of any use?
    Archive messages
You can store messages in an Archive mailbox so that you can quickly find them later when you’re ready to take action.
Select one or more messages to archive. If you select a conversation, all messages in the conversation are archived.
Choose Message > Archive or click the Archive icon in the Mail toolbar. An Archive mailbox is created for each account whose messages you archive. For example, if you archive a message sent to your MobileMe account and a message sent to your Gmail account, an Archive mailbox is created for each account.Archived messages remain in the Archive mailbox until you delete or move them. Depending on the account type, the Archive mailbox is stored on the mail server.

  • Drag and drop from mail to address book not happening

Hi guys, I can no longer drag email addresses from Mail into Address Book. The address just bounces back. I've repaired permissions, installed the latest security update, repaired permissions again, rebooted twice. Any ideas?
    Mail 4.5. Address Book 5.0.3 (883). Mac OS 10.6.8. MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB Ram, 666MHz DDR2 SDRAM.

Hi mbriscoe, I've since upgraded to Lion and the same downgrade of functionality exists. I can no longer drag and drop an address from Mail into Address Book. I now have to click name, wait for menu, select Add to Address Book, go into Address Book and find the name I just added, then drag the name into the specific group I want it to be in. It used to be very useful, the drag and drop, in an "it just works" kind of way. Now it's not.

  • Drag and drop multiple mail messages into finder

I am trying to move multiple mail messages into finder folders for organization and filing purposes.  I know it will save these as mail files but that is what I would like anyway.  It lets me drag and drop one message at a time but does not let me do it for multiple messages at a time.  Does anybody know how to do this?

  • After upgrade to Yosemite, drag and drop for files does not work, destination folder crashes.

After upgrading to Yosemite, dragging and dropping files from one location to the destination folder, causes the destination folder crash. However, copying the file and then moving it works fine.
I'm not sure where to report bugs, but I figured this would be the best option

  • Can thunderbird/lightning create a event simply by dragging and dropping a mail to the calendar

Microsoft outlook can create a new task by dragging a mail to the calendar. It's so convenient for me. Can thunderbird and lightning support this function?

For example, when receiving a message, in Microsoft outlook I can just drag this message to the calendar by the mouse, a task will be created automatically, with quoting the message.
But in thunderbird if drag the message to the calendar, nothing happen.
