Drag and Drop in a quiz

Hi,
I have a quiz in Captivate 7 that is using Submit All. Every question now has a "Clear", "Back", "Next", Submit All" button. I have created a drag and drop question using the new drag and drop functionality and selcted to include the question in the quiz. The problem is that I don't get the back, next or submit all buttons. I can use the Reset button and rename it Clear but Captivate has only added a Submit button, not a submit all button and I can't see how to change that or add the others.
This quiz was originally built in version 6 and I used the drag and drop question widget from eLearning Bros but it doesn't work in version 7 and I'll need to publish this quiz in version 7.
Thanks

Hi there,
Presently, you cannot add a Drag and Drop question as part of ‘Submit All'. Please file a feature request for the same in http://www.adobe.com/go/wish
To add Back , Next buttons on a Drag and Drop question, Please add two button object on stage, Change the button text as 'Next', 'Back' and set actions as 'Go to Next Slide', 'Go to Previous Slide' accordingly.
Hope this resolves the Next and Back button issues.
Thanks,
Nimmy Sukumaran.

  • Drag and Drop Interaction in Quiz Template

I'm new to developing in flash, and I'm just teaching myself.
I've been a software developer for 15 years. I'm trying to use the
quiz template in flash and having trouble with the drag & drop
interaction. It seems to work fine when not randomized, but ever
since I selected randomize, when one of the drag/drop interactions
come up, the screen does not reset for the next question. The
controls of the drag/drop frame are overlay the next frame. Is
there a way to fix this? I was searching through the posts prior to
posting this message, and I found a similar problem posted, but it
is a year old and there were no helpful responses. Can someone
    help?

I haven't done Drag and Drop before,  but make sure you have the action on the submit button and not on the slide itself.  I think if you play with the button properties vs. the slide properties a little, you can get what you want.

  • Drag and drop - remember answers/do not reset

    Hi there,
Does anyone know how I can stop the drag and drop from resetting when the user goes back through the course? I have tried changing the attempts options, the reset options and so on in the settings, but it always resets and does not remember the users answers!
Is this a bug? The drag and drop rarely does anything I want it to. It is so much easier in Articulate!
    Thanks!

    Hi,
If you want the dropped state to be remembered you need to include the Drag and drop interaction in Quiz. Also you can add some marks to the dnd interaction.  If you do not want to add the marks to your total marks of your quiz(if you have any quiz in your course) check off the option "Add to total" option. There is an option for reporting the marks as well. Just check the "Include in quiz" option and let me know this addresses your issue.
You can find the"include in quiz " option under reporting accordian. Attaching screen shots for your reference(in both Cp7 and Cp8)

  • How can I allow a learner to review a created Drag and Drop Quiz to show the learner their incorrect/correct answers?

Captivate 8: I have created an assessment with two multiple choice question slides and eight drag and drop question slides. After the learner views their score, I would like them to be able to review all of their answers to see where errors were made. Currently, the review quiz only shows their answers and the correct answers for Multiple choice question slides. Ideally, I would like a review of the drag and drop question slides where the incorrect choices are outlined in red or something to this effect. I appreciate any insight and suggestions!

Sorry, D&D is not a normal question slide and I can only recommend logging a feature request. I would really like to be able to choose whether an interaction is reset or not, because this problem doesn't exist only for D&D but for all learning interactions as well.

  • Moving answers in a quiz once they have been matched to a target in using drag and drop

    Hi,
I am having a problem with some of my drag and drop quizzes that I'm wondering if anyone you might be able to help me with?
In some drag and drop quizzes I have created, using the Infosemantics drag and drop light widget in Captivate 5.5, I can move the answer after having matched it to a target but before submittting.  Whereas in some quizzes I have created, the answers get stuck and do not let me move the answers after I have matched them to a target, even though I haven't submitted.  This leaves me no choice but to clear all my answers and start again if I have made a mistake.
Please can you tell me how to enable the answers to move even after they have been placed on a target?

    Emma,
Take a look at the troubleshooting tips on this page from the Infosemantics website:
    http://www.infosemantics.com.au/adobe-captivate-widgets/drag-and-drop/troubleshooting-widg et-issues
Pay particular attention to the section entitled: "My drag and drop question works correctly sometimes, but not other times. "
From the appearance of your slide, it looks like you may have removed some of the components from the quiz slide that are necessary for it to function correctly.  Try the test that this section of the troubleshooting suggests so that you can see if this is the case.  If it turns out that you have deleted some items, you'll need to recreate your quiz slide to get them back again.
    Hope this helps.

  • HTML5 matching quiz drag and drop reveals TOC menu

    Hi,
Not sure if this has been reported as a problem converting Captivate 7 lessons to HTML5.
In several lessons there are Matching quizzes which allow drag and drop of the answer to a blank in the text or selection from the drop down menu by matching numbers in the text.
Here is a link to an example lesson containing a Matching quiz. The quiz is on slide 5. The easiest way to get there directly is to use the TOC Menu to navigate to "Test What You've Learned".
    http://www.djfilms.ca/NRCan/HTML5/Lesson1.1_v7.2_H5/
If the user trys to drag the answer on an iPad 2 the TOC menu also appears from the left of the screen.  This seems to be a problem related to gestures.
Does anyone know of a way to solve the problem or is this something that Adobe has to fix?
    Thanks,
    Richard

Anyone know where one can purchase the code/template for a drag and drop quiz in html?

  • Error with my my drag and drop quiz

I'm working in Presenter 7. The problem I'm having is with
the matching quiz. Initially it looks fine then when I begin to
drag the answers to their correct location I get this big grey box
and where ever I drag one of the answers the grey mess gets bigger.
    How can I resolve this?

Alright I was having a problem with the presenter version of
drag and drop so I made my own in Flash. Problem that I'm having
now is that it works fine out of flash and not at all in presenter.
It's like id doesn't see my stop() actionscript at first and then
it does. I tried importing it as flash 9 and 8 and getting the same
problem. Is there some kind of special actionscript I need to write
to get it to work in Presenter?

  • Quiz drag and drop, do the pictures need to be movie clips?

I just worked my way through a Flash MX quiz template
tutorial. The drag and drop uses movie clips, but they don't say
this is required. Can I use png files from my library? I tried and
    it doesn't appear to work.
I am very new at all this, so please bear with me. If I have
to make the pictures into a movie clip, how do I do this, and how
do I get them into my library?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    JudyD

I don't have a Recently Added playlist.  However, I discovered that the file I had named Eating Healthy was given the name You Can Enjoy Eating Healthy when it copied to iTunes.  I'm guessing iTunes pulled the full name of the piece from the internet.  Upshot--the mp3 did transfer to iTunes on all 3 tries, but I was looking in my alphabetized list under E, not Y, so I didn't see it there.  Thanks for your help.

  • Reg Drag and Drop Feedback in Captivate 7

    Hi,
I have a drag and drop in a slide (Captivate 7) as a knowledge check.
Problem: I need a drag and drop interaction's correct feedback to reset when the learner returns to the drag and drop slide later or clicks the back button from the next slide. Currently the correct feedback is present.
Background: The learner completes the drag and drop and gets the 'Correct!' feedback from show action and 'Incorrect' feedback from the existing captivate failure feedback. The learner then continues the lesson by going to the next slide. The problem is that, if the learner returns to the drag and drop, the 'Correct!' feedback still shows even though the drag source items have reset to their original locations and the learner can redo the drag and drop interaction. Clicking the 'Reset' button does not remove the existing 'Correct!' feedback. Even if the learner redoes the interaction and does the opposite (e.g. if the learner got it wrong the first time, but then gets it correct this second time), the existing feedback does not change from 'Correct.'
Any ideas on how to fix this? I understand we have to create advanced actions. Please tell me the exact steps in this instance and whether i have to execute the actions on enter or exit.
Note: I tired to read the posts related to this. But creating the advanced options step was not given.
    Thank you.

OK.  Just asking because I saw one of the Adobe people chime in on a similar question a day or two back.
Unlike quiz questions, the Success and Failure Captions for drag and drop interactions appear to have Item Names which suggests they can be hidden via Advanced Actions.  You should try setting an On Slide Enter action to hide them and see if that resolves your issue.

  • Drag and Drop Interaction Scoring

    Hi-
I've created a drag and drop interaction for a quiz with four
objects. Each object has to match up to the correct spot in order
for the user to get the answer correct. I've done this type of
interactions before successfully and not had a problem with
    scoring.
But this time .. the only thing I can see that's different
about this quiz is that I'm not assigning any points in the "Score"
field - I am instead using the Status of Correct Response alone.
I've found that this interaction scoring works perfectly for my
other quiz interactions but there seems to be a problem with the
drag and drop - when the user moves the objects around and
temporarily places an object in the wrong (or maybe even correct)
spot, each of these movements is being racked up as correct in this
interaction So, if there's an ambivalent user they're going to get
many more points than is even supposed to be possible.
I can't see anything different that I've done with this
interaction other than the scoring. I changed to correct response
scoring because it was the only way I could figure out how to reset
the quiz score after the user leaves and comes back. (using
    TotalCorrect)
Anyway, I'm open to ideas - even if it's not the scoring -
    any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks -

Don't use the quiz knowledge objects and code yourself...?
You'll find many on here who can help you with hand coding
    and probably none
who know much about implementing those KO's who can answer
    questions. The
reason is if you know enough to be able to answer questions,
    you know enough
to know that these KO's are a short term crutch that cause
    long term
    problems.

  • Drag and Drop as an Assessment in Captivate 7

    Hello-
I am having an extreme amount of difficulty when it comes to using this function in Captivate 7. The following is a list of questions that I cannot seem to find the answer to anywhere online.
After assigning the answers (as in which box gets dragged to the other), I saw that even though I have 5 separate boxes and therefore 5 separate answers, the quiz results only count this entire drag and drop as one answer. How do I set it so that each drag and drop within the slide is an individual point to add up to a total of 5 points?
I am very confused as to how to set up the failure box-I only want it to show up when people go back to review their quiz. I also have this problem with all other quizzes, as well as the "review area" box.
If someone, or multiple people, could please answer these, and not just link to another page with the answers, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!
    Nat

  • Custom Drag and Drop Component: When i add a skin, drag and drop no longer works?

I have a skinnableContainer that acts as a container for other drag and droppable items. This container's drop functionality is added from it's parent at the same moment the container is added.
This all works fine until i add a skin class to the skinnableContainer, now none of the draggable items can drop into the container as it did before.
I assume that the Group component wrapping the content from within the skin is acting as a block somehow, but i'm not sure how to allow the drop functionality through it?
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
Thanks for your replies... I tried modifying the if clause,
but it did not work. I can use a trace statement to find out what
the target is and what level it is at, but I cannot do this when it
    is in our presenter window.
The code that is causing the problem can be accessed right in
Flash. Just create a new quiz, then in the library, go to Quiz
Files --> Learning Interactions --> Assets --> Controls
--> Components, right click on drag and drop and select edit and
then go to the actions frame. I am sure you already know this, but
I just want to be clear I did not make this from scratch.
This code works great when the quiz is the root movie. But if
the quiz is encapsulated within another movie, it does not work. I
can drag the objects, but they just snap back to where their
starting points are. In the code I attached earlier...
    "this._parent.Target1" used to be "target".
Just so you can see it all, I have attached the problematic
    function.
What happens is that if "this._parent.Target1" is set to
"target", the movie will function fine in Flash, but will not work
in our presentation window. I can drag the draggable objects, but
they always snap back to the location of where they came from.
What this means is that the if clauses are not being run, and
the function is always running the else clause, which puts all of
the objects back at their starting point.
In the code attached, I am using "this._parent.Target1".
Again, works fine in Flash, but when I put it in the presentation
window, this time, I can drag the objects anywhere on the screen,
but when I drop them, they think that the dropZone is the question
itself, and not the Target (Target1). So I need to figure out how
to make Target1 be the dropZone in our presentation window.
    Any ideas?
Thanks again for all your help!

  • Drag and drop objects in Captivate 4

    Hi,
Is it possible to have a user click and drag an object on a slide in captivate 4?
For e.g. - in a matching type-quiz, instead of creating the usual quiz - I want a user to click and place the correct object in the correct box. Can this effect be achieved?
    Thanks!

With either (or both) of these Drag and Drop widgets, yes: http://www.infosemantics.com.au/dragdrop

  • Drag and Drop Learning Interaction without Overlapping

I would like to be able to drag and drop into a column without dragged items overlapping for a quiz question. I don't know Action Script and am using CS3. What do I need to do to get this to work. Component Inspector states Drag1 = Target 1, etc. I need to drag the items to any of targets 1, 2, and 3. Hopefully, someone out there can help me.
    Thank you.
    Laraine

Thank you for your reply.  Your idea of a boolean variable to define the state of the response is what I was initially trying to accomplish.  Almost as soon as clicked on 'submit', the thought occurred to me to look for action script in the drag/drop component.  I found it and found the response states defined there.  Consequently, I achieved external movie clip control.  I'm new to this forum and appreciate your help.

  • Flash Drag and Drop interaction

I have created a Flash SWF with a drag and drop interacation.
Previewed in Flash, it works perfectly; the mc object can be picked
up, and locks on the target when released, and dynamic text
displays to tell the user that the match is right.
When imported into Captivate, the swf appears to be a static
    file. Nothing can be moved.
I redid it using older actionscript allowing it to be
exported as a Flash v6 file; in this version, the mc object can be
moved, but does not lock on the target when dropped, and the
    dynamic text box is blank.
Both Flash and Captivate are CS3.
Is this simply not compatible in Captivate? Searching for
help on drag and drop isn't helpful because it brings up info
relative to the drag and drop quiz, which is not what I need; this
file is dragging and dropping images.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I don't know how much help it will be but you should check
    out
    this
link to a page at Paul Dewhurst's web-site "RaisingAimee". You
may not be able to get to that page until you register as a user on
Paul's site. If you run into that, register, then try the link
    again.
If this is any help to you, drop a few pieces-of-eight in
Paul's PayPal account, and maybe send him a personal "thank you" on
his Shout Box. If it doesn't work, it might be because those
particular FLAs were created for version 1, as I remember, and may
be to some extent version-specific. In any case, it might be worth
    a try.
    ~best wishes for your success,
    Larry
