Drag and drop in album?

When I'm going through an event in order to pick photos for an album, I like to see the photos in full view (not thumbnails). But then I can't drag and drop from the full view to the album folder. And if I go down to drag and drop the corresponding photo in the thumbnail bar below, the darn thumbnail bar gets magnified, and I have to move my cursor once again to get the right photo. Is there a better way to do this??? Can I at least make that thumbnail bar stop magnifying itself?
Julie

One way would be to view the photos in what ever mode you need in order make your selection and then either flag the photo (Command+period) or add a keyword to it via the Keyword pane (Command+k).
Then create a smart album whose criteria is Keyword is XXXXXX or Photo is Flagged. When you've completed your selection open the Smart album, select all of the photos and drag them to the Album area at the left to create a new, regular album. Then remove the flag or keyword from the photos to clear the smart album.
If you go the Flagged route and don't have any other flagged photos in the library you won't need a smart album because there's already one in the Recent area to the left titled Flagged. You can use it.

  • Drag and drop Picasa Album Into Premiere Elements 10

I tried to drag and drop videos from an album I made in Picasa into Premiere Elements.  No dice.  I tried to drag and drop files from windows explorer into Elements.  No dice.  I have 200 files from various folders all over my machine, assembled in a Picasa album, and I have no way of importing those files into Elements from what I can see.  Anyone know how I can do this?
I even tried to be clever, grabbing the Picasa XML file that contains the full paths of each file and then creating a space delimited list (with Quotes around each path) and pasting it into the OPEN FILE dialog.  But there seems to be a maximum string length.  No dice.
Your help would be appreciated.  Thank you in advance.
    Keith

Yes, the PREL (Project) file is XML, however it is structured for PrE to be able to read (and write) it. If PrE can read the Picasa XML (the structure makes sense to the program), then it just might work.
Unfortunately, I have never used Picasa, so have no idea of its Album files structures. I also cannot recall anyone mentioning working with it, and PrE, but maybe missed that/those thread(s).
Other than the general observation, offered above, I have no useful knowledge on what might, or might not work. However, as you experiment, please update this thread, as it might prove very helpful to others - and I get to learn something!!!!
    Good luck,

  • Cannot drag and drop to Albums when importing photos

When you import images to Photos, you cannot drag and drop the photos to any of your albums.  What was Apple thinking by eliminating this organization feature that has been part of iPhoto since 1.0?  For example, when you import photos from your SD card (from your DLSR camera), you cannot drag and drop the photos to an album (when you have view sidebar selected).  If you select all the images, Photos for OS X will not let you drag and drop them anywhere.  Clicking on the selected photos to drag them will only de-select the photo you are hovering over.  How stupid is that?  How can Apple call that photo management?  People organize photos in Albums, but Photos for OS X only wants you to dump them into the program without any organization.  In order to drop the photos into an album, you have to import the photos and then click on Last Import.  Then select all the photos from that location, and then you can drag and drop them into an album.  Totally stupid.

Solution may be found if you search in the "More Like This" section over in the right column.

  • Problem Dragging and Dropping whole Albums

My Albums are all listed on the right in iTunes. Some Albums don't seem to want to drag and drop. They display the circle with a line through it. Doesn't seem to be any logic to it as one album looks like the other. You can go to the files themselves and drag and drop them but I like to drag over a whole album at a time.

Yes The Albums appear top right in iTunes. I drag them to the image of my iPod 5G on the left just under the words Music Store. If the D & D works then a small arrow with a box with a plus symbol on it appears as I hover the pointer over the iPod image and then release it and the album transfers ok. Otherwise I get the no go symbol and nothing happens.

  • I can not move or drag and drop my albums anymore.

For some reason, iPhoto will not let me manually rearrainge anymore.  When I try to drag an album, it only gives me the option to start a new folder.  Anyone else notice this in 11?

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Albums that work fine in my desktop itunes don't drag and drop to my iphone

All of the albums work fine in my itunes on my PC, but when I connect my iphone 4s via USB then try to drag and drop them to my iphone, they initially show up, but when I open them on my iphone the songs read in a muted gray and won't play.
Then, after I deleted those albums on my iphone (and additional songs that worked fine on my iphone to be sure that space usage was not an issue), I tried to drag and drop the albums again from my itunesPC to my iphone itunes (connected USB) - but the albums won't tranfer at all this time.
I called apple and an advisor asked my to connect my iphone to my PC again and try deleting a single song (which worked fine previously on my iphone), then the advisor asked me to drag and drop that song back to my iphone from my PC itunes - it would not transfer.
It seems oddly that once I delete an item from my itunes on my phone it is denied re-entry.
    Any solutions?

  • Can't drag and drop into Folder

Greetings... i have been happily going along using iPhoto (6) on a fairly basic level making folders and dragging and dropping but suddenly its changed, i can now only drag and drop into albums.
I will create a folder but can't move anything into it.
This seemed to happen after iPhoto asked would i like things sorted to make it work better , i can't remember the exact wording,i clicked yes and at some point realised my folders had changed to albums into which i can drag and drop but use of folders is now denied.
I would like to know what is going on and why i can no longer do such a simple thing as move photos into a folder.
I have tried using different names for folders from the albums so there wouldn't be confusion but nothing has worked.

Thank you for this answer. I don't have an adequate explanation for why i couldn't remember how things operated on iPhoto. I had been using it successfully for some time but then didn't go into it for a few weeks and obviously had forgotten what i seemed to know earlier on. I created new folders and from there found it didn't work and was puzzled. Thought i had used folders before but i couldn't have or had overcome the problem by myself at that time.

  • K3b wont let me drag and drop files or folders

I use k3b and since switching to arch havent had to use it till now. I open it just fine but it wont let me  drag and drop from dolphin (files or folders)
though I can manually browse using its interface at the top and add files just fine...
anyone experience same problem or know how to fix?? I couldnt find it in settings.
    again using k3b version : 1.93.0rc4-1
    thanks

I'm having the very same problem, dragging and dropping new albums from iphoto to my iWeb created website, after having no trouble doing this for the last 2 years.
I have able to drag and drop just 2 weeks ago and now it doesn't work.
It's an album page, not a photo page, I am certain because there are already 5 albums posted on that page.
Very strange. I wonder if its some sort of update problem they need to fix. All my software is updated (although I dont have ilife '09) but I wonder if some sort of new bug has be created through the most recent updates.
If anyone has a solution I would be most grateful as I've run out of ideas and am unable to post new albums in any way shape or form, drop and drop or not..
    Thanks.

  • Drag and drop problem

    I have iTunes 10.01.22.
I have a folder on my computer, the folder contains some MP3's of an album. Now normally I can drag and drop the album folder into iTunes and whatever amount of songs are in that folder are then added and shown in iTunes library.
The album folder I am having a problem with has 2 MP3 tracks in it. For some reason or other, I cannot get one of the songs to add to the library (the other song shows up correctly in iTunes). I have tried dragging and dropping the song that won't add separately, but it still does not get added.
I've checked and its definitely an MP3.
I was wondering if anyone has had this problem before and if so did you manage to solve it.
I would appreciate any help and suggestions that you might be able to give me.
    Thanks in advance.

I still haven't found a solution (apart from using the workaround I mentioned earlier).
I tried today to drag and drop a mp3 into iTunes and I have the same problem with that particular mp3, strange though how it doesn't affect all mp3's I try to drag and drop.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

  • After sorting photos into albums, the albums disappeared on me. I dragged and dropped the photos and went back to check that they were in place before exiting the program. When I went back, the folder was there but no albums. Help!

Working on an IMac - with IPhoto v.9.6
This is my first experience with IPhoto... trying to move files from a PC over to a Mac.
I don't have a ton of photos but I created about 6 albums - standard albums - and dragged and dropped individual photos into each of the albums. I named each of the albums as well so I would know what was in each. After i was finished, I created a folder called 2014 and moved each of the albums into that folder. Before moving ANY of the albums, I opened each of them up to make sure that all the photos I wanted in each were indeed there - and since there were some errors on my part, I deleted any duplicates first. SO, I KNOW the photos were actually in each of the albums BEFORE i moved them into the 2014 folder.
My intention was to then delete the photo files in my document file but once I got there I thought I would go back and double check the IPhoto file just to make sure... and the pictures were NOT in the albums where I had placed them... is there a need to save this before you move on and if so, to where and how? I was under the impression that once files were moved to albums, they remain there.
The photos are still in the photo library but unsorted now again... I cannot even open the 2014 folder at this point.
    Thanks for any help!!

Was back on IPhoto this morning. The folder did not open at all so I deleted it. Beside Albums, nothing showed at all. It was like I had done no work at all except to import my photo folder. Nothing was in my trash bin either.
I started again and created one album at a time. I dragged and dropped photos into the album and exited out of IPhoto, opened up other programs and then returned to IPhoto to see if the album was still there and it was this time. I created a second album and did the same thing. This time, for some reason, the albums seem to be staying in place. I am not doing anything differently than last time. After creating three albums, I created a folder called 2014 and dragged and dropped the three albums into the folder and exited IPhoto. They were still there when I returned - YEAH! It seems to be working - for now! I am keeping my fingers crossed that my photos are not going to disappear but I am not going to delete my photo folder from my files just in case!
Thanks for the suggestions but this may just have been a funny glitch... not sure what happened. I didn't change anything or do anything differently this time except that I am doing it one album at a time and exiting the program between creating each of them and coming back to check... very strange.

  • Within Music Library can anyone please explain why when I select the option to sort 'Album by Artist' a number of tracks are being treated as separate albums?  How can I correct this?  I have tried to 'drag and drop' but that doesn't work.

Within music Library can anyone please explain why after I select the option to sort 'Album by Artist' a number of tracks are being treated as separate albums?  How can I fix this?  I have tried to manually correct by 'drag and drop' individual tracks but that doesn't work.  My music library includes a number of repeat album artwork images simply because not all tracks are being listed under the one album making my library more difficult to use than it should.  Any advise would be appreciated.

  • HT204364 Hi,  I have managed to make a calendar in iphoto but when I try and make a card I don't have any photos to drag and drop!  I have tried opening an album but when I click on make a card the area which should have the photos in it is blank!  Please

    Hi,
I am trying to make a photocard in iphoto '09 but when I open an album and then click on card the area where the photos to drag and drop should be is blank.  I have managed to make a calender (which has the photos there to use) and can't work out what I am doing wrong. Please can someone help?  Thank you

Put the photos in an album, open the album and select all, go to the create button and select card - to add more photos to the project drag them ot the card project in the source pane on the left

  • Album Artwork Drag and Drop issue

    Good morning all,
After struggling with this last evening for some time I have decided it's time to ask the pros.
In iTunes I used to be able to drag and drop album artwork. So, for instance, I would just go and google the album image I was looking for and then take that jpg and drop it in to whichever album is missing that particular cover on the main album screen.
What seems to be happening now though is that iTunes thinks every jpg I try to drag over is actually a podcast and it takes that album cover and places it under "Podcasts"
I know I could just go into the album properties and add the album art that way but this was just so much simpler.
Any thoughts? Writing this in a hurry as well so please let me know if I need to be more specific.
    Thanks
    Chu

That does not exist - the workaround (maybe permanent solution - who knows) is
    File menu ==> export
And BTW if you are not backingup all the time you are 100% guarenteed to lose all of your files and photos sooner or later

  • IPhoto 09 picture drag and drop form library to an album results in incorrect picture dragged dropped

    Hi,
I think that my problem started when I installed ML...
When I import a picture in my library and then drag and drop the picture in an album (for example an empty one)... when I open the album, the only picture there is not the one I draged and dropped, but another one from my library... it's ths same when I repeat that for any other picture...
Any idea how to sort this

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    Regards
