Drag and Drop Interaction - Drops Items

Hi
I am using the new Interaction template for Drag and Drops. This seems to work great but there is one thing I am struggling to do.
Is there anyway you can restirct how many items can be placed on a drop zone? At the moment you can drop more than one item to a drop zone and they overlap. My ideal solution would be that you can only drap one item to a zone or that when you drop an item to an area that already has one there, that it replaces it with the new one that was just dropped.

Drag and Drop items among JList

Hi,
I want to drag item from one JList and drop into another JList using JFrame in java Swing. Please provide me code for this.

You need to implement a drag-and-drop (dnd) behaviour between your swing components.
Like most programming tasks it looks harder than it really is. Basically you need a DragSource and a DropTarget with a Transferable object in between. This Transferable object is the object from your list.

I remember that I fixed a bug in that area for our 4.0 release. So with 4.0 you shouldn't get this kind of error. What I remember the error occurs if you have special characters in the labels of the page items.

Unable to complete drag and drop; items stick to cursor.

Basically I am having the exact same issue as, http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1372514&start=0&tstart=0 .
Sometimes when attempting to drag and drop an item the item will not drop and just become stuck to the cursor, across applications. The only way to drop the item seems to be force quitting Finder, or sometimes just mashing the Esc key.
I've had this issue on 10.6.5, and 10.6.6. A fresh install did not rectify the problem. What is incredibly annoying is the issue just comes and goes. The only thing I can narrow it down to is a Wacom driver for my Intuos. As far as I can remember this issue only started after installing that driver.
Has any one else experienced this behaviour, and do you have a Wacom Intuos?

Drag and Drop Item Sticking

I'm creating a drag and drop game for grades K-2 and two of
my pieces stick to the mouse when clicked. I'm not sure what the
problem is as I've used the same code for all of my pieces.
The pants1_mc and the glasses_mc are the problems.

I think the problem might also be that you are listening for
the Mouse Up on each of your draggable items. Instead you should
register just one listener on the stage so that if the pointer
isn't over your drag when you release it still will be able to
"dropIt".
My guess would be that the pants and the glasses are a shape
where when you stuck the pointer to the registration point (with
the true inside the startDrag) the pointer wasn't actually over a
pixel of the artwork. The other shapes weren't like that.
So removing the true might work for you here, but what if you
wanted the true? Or what if you were going to constrain the
dragging to a specific area and it was possible that the pointer
would move off the artwork. You would have this problem again.
So I would add to the pickUp function:
addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP,dropIt);
event.target.startDrag()
Then inside the dropIt function
removeEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP,dropIt);
stopDrag();
Finally you won't need each of the individual dropIt
registrations in your main code.

I would love to be able to drag and drop items from one page to another from the plan window. Is that possible?

In desiging my website, I would like to be able to move items from one page to another by dragging and dropping from the plan architecture screen. It might also help if the window could have a zoom in and out feature to facilitate that.

I just tried zooming in the plan window and discovered it works.

after drop item on another item the position of items should be change. (Example:- if I select 1st item from list and drag and drop this item to 4th item in list after drop that item position of both item should be changed 1st item on 4th position and 4th item on 1st position)

I do not believe that kind of option is built into the listboxes, but I was able to have similiar functionalities using property nodes. I have included an example program that I put together.
The big difference is that instead of dragging, you double click on the item you want to transfer. To highlight items as you go down the list, all you need to do is set the value to that list number.

Drag and Drop Items in Reminders

I'm disappointed that you can't drag and drop lists in the Reminders app to change the order they appear. Also it's not possible to drag and drop reminders within lists. Any possibility of adding this feature in a future release?

The best way to do this so that it is easy for your end users is to:
Step 1
Create a drag and drop folder location for SharePoint Online e-mails
1.       Go to your SharePoint Online shared documents location
2.       Create the folder structure that you want for your e-mail storage
3.       Click on your top folder
4.       Click on Actions
5.       Open with Windows Explorer
6.       In the address bar at the top of the Explorer Window copy the address
Step 2
Go to Start, Computer
1.       Click on Map Network Drive
2.       Paste the address copied above into the Folder box
3.       Check Reconnect at logon
4.       Take note of the drive letter given or choose a drive letter
*note these instructions are for Windows 7 – you can search help for Map Network Drive for the OS you are using
Step 3
Open Notepad
1.       Type in the following:
“explorer z:” (leave out the quotation marks and enter the drive letter in step 2
2.       Click File
3.       Click Save As
4.       File name OpenEmail.bat
·         Note the file name does not matter but the .bat has to be there
·         Save to the Desktop
When a user wants to open the SharePoint location that stores e-mail they double click on OpenEmail.bat and it will open in an Explorer view which will allow for e-mails to drag and drop from Outlook into the folder.

Im very new to Flex and really have only gone through the
lynda.com tutorials but I don't really know where to begin doing
something like this. I have a requirement as a desktop app. I have
to open an xml file that defines a series of objects we'll go with
the vegetable approach....
I want to store different properties of the object for
different sources...so one app might want to know color, weight and
origin another app might only want to know color and weight
so if the xml looks like this

I want to load it in some sort of list control or grid and
then drag the weight property into a 'vegetable builder' area. once
there I want to be able to edit the attributes of the node so in my
vegetable builder area perhaps right click the weight property
which has an attribute 'unitofmeasure' that could be assinged the
value 'metric'
once done click a button that either outputs the xml as
string or allows the user to save the xml which would walk the list
nodes in the builder area that then output
<vegetable>
<weight unitofmeasure="metric"/>
</vegetable>

Look into the methods available for manipulating your
data-the xml data provider.
For example the XMLListCollection offers: addItem, addItemAt,
getItemAt, removeAll, removeItemAt, etc. The Collection also offers
a cursor you can use to easily navigate through the data provider.
These methods will allow you to add new data to your data
provider.

Can not re-order (drag-and-drop) items in Google My Maps

In Google's "My Maps" there is a column on the left hand side of all of your locations. In the Edit mode, you should be able to drag them to re-order them. This works fine in IE, Chrome, etc. And it WORKED prior to Firefox 4.
It DOES NOT WORK in Firefox 4.
I would like to know why.

Number of "rows" displayed for Drag and Drop items

Where do I set the number of rows displayed in my databound objects in UIX/ADF/Struts (Tables, LOV, searches, etc...)? I remember this being an option in the Preview, but I just can't find it now.

Select the UIModel.xml file and open the Structure window. Select the RowSetIterator and open the Property Inspector.

Drag and Drop Interactive Game

I am creating a drag and drop interactive game. I cannot post
the file because it is for work and is business sensitive. Here is
the problem I am having. I have multiple frames in the game. I have
correctly entered the actionscript that allows for the drag and
drop feature and to go to the next frame. However when the game
goes to the next frame, the last drag and drop item stays on the
screen. Is there a further actionscript I need to enter that clears
the screen before the next frame?

Drag and drop scoring

Is there a way to create a variable, or is there a system variable available, that allows for points to be assigned to drag and drop items? So, for example, each correctly dropped item is worth one point and as the learner makes the series of correct drops the score on the screen keeps increasing?

You cannot manipulate the Captivate quizzing system variables with Advanced Actions and you cannot assign a user variable as a score.
This type of scoring flexibility is not available with the native drag and drop functionality available in Captivate as the entire interaction is scored either correct or incorrect, not according to each separate drag item.
However, if you have the Infosemantics Interactive Drag and Drop widget, you can have multiple widgets on the same slide, each scoring a different drag item / target item match. In this way you can likely achieve the result you describe above because the more items the user gets matched correctly, the higher their score.
