"drag and drop layout missing in 4.2"

The drag and drop layout is missing in 4.2
So we have no GUI to arrange regions or items in a region...
So I'm not sure if going to 4.2 is a step forward at all?
Apex needs to be more drag and drop configurable not less surely ?

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Drag and Drop Layout feature for regions

Wondering if there is a drag and drop layout feature for regions in 3.1.2 (or below that I might have missed) or if there are plans for it in future releases. I know that this feature is available for items in a region but interested for the many regions I have on a page. I think it would be a nice feature to have instead of having to go into a page template to get the layout I want.

I have a region on P0 (P0_REGION) and multiple page items (not on page 0) are associated to the region. When I go to "Drag and Drop" the page items I see all the Page Items for the given page and all the Page Items that are linked to a P0 Region. For Example:
P0:
Region: P0_REGION
P100:
Items: P100_X, Region: P0_REGION
P200:
Items: P200_Y, Region: P0_REGION
Now on P200, click on "Drag and Drop" above P200_Y I'll see P100_X and P200_Y.
This is a bit of an issue if you have a lot of items that are linked to a region on Page 0 but actually belong to another page.
Is this a bug?

Lets say that I setup a view with multiple containers that the user can drag an drop and order the containers how they wish. Now is it possible to save that layout they create and everytime they load the app, it comes up how they want it. If it is possible, how?

I have not done it , i think it is not possible the way you describe on the fly at runtime to save the layout. There are personalization API which might help in your case.

Save drag and drop layout

Hi Folks,
Can anyone tell me the best way to do this. I need to save the layout of my page:

I'd like to store the page layout in a database, but I dont understand how to capure the DOM, would I need to save the ID's of each moveable element in a list, and save that to a database?
How would i save the items in a list?
I can't find much on the web about how this works at all.
Any help much appreciated.

Hi,
Which Siebel Application you are using. There is a "Application" dropdown in the tools for the weblayout.
Enable that in the tools: View - Toolbars - Configuration Context. Check the Application dropdown value. is that the Siebel Application you are using. Its better to add the fields in the "All Applications" dropdown. Else you are seeing in a wrong application or adding in a wrong application. This is the cause of the mismatch. No problem with WebLayout. Check and let me know.

I remember that I fixed a bug in that area for our 4.0 release. So with 4.0 you shouldn't get this kind of error. What I remember the error occurs if you have special characters in the labels of the page items.

Drag and Drop Problem 3.0.1

Hi,
I upgraded from 3.0 to 3.0.1.
I modified a form using the Drag and Drop Layout.
On "Next" session the item's names are modified
blank char to"%20", "à" to "%C3%A0"
for example
prod id --> prod%20Id
Località-->Localit%C3%A0
Has anybody hit this problem?

Try holding down the Command key and dragging the file well off the sidebar.

If you have Pages you can create customs pages for your book as TD suggested. If you have Pages from iWork 09 or 11 this app will add 80 or so additional frames to those offered: Frames and Strokes Installer. Don't use it on the latest Pages version, however.
This tutorial shows how to create a custom page with the theme's background: iP11 - Creating a Custom Page, with the Theme's Background for an iPhoto Book. Once the page is complete to get it into iPhoto as a jpeg file follow these steps:
Here's how to get any file into iPhoto as a jpeg file:
1 - open the file in any application that will open it.
2 - type Command+P to start the print process.
3 - click on the PDF button and select "Save PDF to iPhoto".
NOTE: If you don't have any of those options go to Toad's Cellar and download these two files:
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Save PDF to iPhoto 300 DPI.workflow.zip
Unzip the files and place in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder and reboot.
4 - select either of the files above (300 dip is used for photos to be included in a book that will be ordered).
5 - in the window that comes up enter an album name or select an existing album and hit the Continue button.
That will create a 200 or 300 dpi jpeg file of the item being printed and import it into iPhoto. For books to be printed choose 300 dpi.

Drag and Drop feature in Layout

Hi,
I am new to Webdynpro ABAP.
I placed the controls like button , text and label on the layout.
But the issue is, I need to arrange them in order but when i drag and drop on the layout, the controls do not move at all.
Whichever controls I choose and place on the layout, all of them are aligning in a Top horizontal fashion.
Pls help as it is hindering me from moving forward to create some apps.

hi ,
place your UIs under a transparent container or a group
and place ur UIs inside it , right click on the ui and choose to move it up or down
u can use the Group UI element to group a series of UI elements under the same title.
Therefore, it acts as a container.
Always use the TransparentContainer UI element for nested groups.
if u r using matrix layout for ur transparent container or group , u can use matrix head data to place UIs in start of line
u can use the TransparentContainer element in two different ways:
i) As a layout container (property isLayoutContainer=true)
In this case, you use the element to design the layout of other UI elements.
ii) As a grouping container (property isLayoutContainer=false)
In this case, you use the element to group other UI elements.

Missing files after drag and drop

In the newest FCP X, I accidentally imported a couple .mov files into the wrong event. I dragged and dropped them into the correct event but now they are missing. I've checked each event in FCP, and also looked for the files in Finder (opening each event from FCP), for the files and can't find them. I can't find them at all in the FCP X created backup versions. Any other ideas on where to find the files?

Ah ha! Now I bet I know where they are! Go to the original Event, or the Event you copied them to. Dont' search names, look at the clips them selves. FCPX by defualt changes the names to creation time/date. Select everything in an Event, go to the Modify menu, to "Apply Custom Name", and select "Original Name From Camera". I bet they show up.
From now on, when you move or copy stuff, to verify it will work properly, and for peice of mind, highlight what you want (Event, Project, media file), go to the File menu and select the move or copy command.
And remember that FCPX renames your video when you import it. I hate it, too. But, that's how they do it.
Also remember when you rename the file in FCPX, the creation time/date name stays in the Finder.

Drag and drop operation resulted in files gone missing

I would really appreciate some help as I have lost about 80 files. Here's what happened: I had a big folder of several hundred files and I was moving those files– photographs – into subfolders.I selected the photo in bridge and then used a drag and drop method to move it. It all went well except in two instances. One group of photos I dragged it to the wrong folder but when I searched I found them. Another group has gone missing. I have searched the whole computer for names of some of the photos in the missing group.it is as if they vanished into thin air. What could have possibly happened?

I selected the photo in bridge and then used a drag and drop method to move it. It all went well except in two instances.
I always use the drag and drop method and if it goes wrong I usually are to fast and don't wait for Bridge to have completed or I did not point to the correct folder.
Without knowing what system you are on and what version of bridge you are using I agree with Curt that the files must be somewhere on your system (also check the Bin) and you better use a dedicated system search for it.
And what is "group.it"? If I do a google search it stops without result and group.it also has not understandable or related results?

Multi window view missing drag and drop

The 4.3 update for Note 2 says it will be upgraded to Note 3 version. Didn't the Note 3 have drag and drop capability? This option is not available on my now updated Note 2. Am I missing something?

Yeah, this bug has been around for a long long time. Best thing to do is to drop it directly onto 'c' or switch to another view style like Column View or Icon View. Hope that helps.

VC Drag and Drop in layout tab

Hi,
I'm fairly new to VC 7.0 and am trying to lay out my model to find that in the layout tab, I am unable to drag and drop items like some of the exercises I am doing instruct me to. I've searched a bit on the forum here and it doesn't seem to be a common occurance so I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong?

Am I the only person who misses the drag and drop method of adding and deleting songs on iTunes devices?

I am constantly getting frustrated with the newer versions of iTunes because my different apple devices have different amounts of storage. I miss the days when I could drag and drop songs to various devices. I don't always want the same songs on all devices, so I don't like to sync because I sometimes lose something I want to keep on that device. I am just curious if I'm the only one who misses this feature or is there a way of doing this that I've just not found? Thanks.

In the Summary tab of iTunes - when the iDevice is connected to your Mac - select Manually Manage Music and Videos. You should be able to drag and drop.
If you don't see the sidebar and the device is syncing automatically, you can enable the sidebar from the ITunes Menu - View>Show Sidebar. The. You can click on your device name imder the devices heading, then click on the Summary Tab.
You can also disable auto syncing in iTunes>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing autonatically.
I never auto sync and never have. I select Sync Only Checked Songs And Videos in the Summary tab and I can still drag and drop songs. I can also select the albums, playlist, or artists that I want to sync by using this method.
