Drag and drop mailbox recipients

I have a mailbox folder within Mail which contains emails I have sent to about 100 recipients. Let's say this mailbox is called 'Golf Club Contacts'. These recipients are not in my address book.
I have composed a new email that I wish to send to all the 100 recipients within this mailbox folder, but I do not have time to copy each recipients email address into the 'To' heading of the email I wish to send.
Is there an automated way to 'drag and drop' the 'Golf Club Contacts' folder into the 'To' heading in my composed email, thus sending the email to all the email addresses contained within it?

You can send a file or picture by doing one of the following:
a. Drag-and-drop the file or picture from your computer into the message window or text input area.
b. Copy and paste the file or picture from any Office program into the message window or text input area.
c. Press PrtScn on your keyboard to capture an image directly from your screen, then paste it into the message window or text input area.
Note: Your sent message will show a small representation of the file or picture. To open the file or see the full-size picture, the recipient clicks Save or Open, which transfers the file to
their computer. Also note that embedded images only show up in one to one IMs, not group conversations.
I also tested with the new client “Skype for Business”, the feature that drag and drop pictures from any browser to Skype for Business is still not available, but the feature that copy/past pictures
from browsers to Skype for Business is available.

Imported mailboxes have internal Messages folders and I cannot drag-and-drop to them

I have just been forced to upgrade to a new MB Pro due to liquid damage to my old Macbook Pro. As I am now using Mountain Lion I have had all manner of reconfigure problems with importing the (undamaged) data from my old hard drive.. When I open Mailboxes, there is an internal Messages folder which needs opening in turn.. Some of the Mailboxes have messages in both parts. I also seem to be blocked from drag-and-drop to move mail to my boxes.. I've read all over here but cannot find this mentioned.. Should I re-install a clean version, and if so, how do I retain the last 4 days of emails.. My Sent box is utterly screwed, too

When you see something like this in the sidebar, it means there are other folders within that folder:
The little triangle on the left is the clue.
Click on the traingle and you can see what is inside, Here there is one folder inside:
Now if you want you can drag the second folder and drop it anywhere inside the sidebar:
So that instead of one folder with a triangle to show it contains other folders, I have two separate folders.
You can also go in the other direction, and drop a folder into another one. As many as you want.

Drag and drop mail to mailboxes not working

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro, when I attempt to drag and drop an e-mail message from my inbox to another mailbox (folder), has stopped working. I can still move mail to different mailboxes from the Toolbar / Message / Move to.
I'm using Apple Mail 6.0. I've looked, but do not see any functions in Mail Preferences or Mailbox functions that enables or disables this feature. Am I looking in the wrong place or missing something?

It's actually much worst than that. THe MOVE command works only intermittently to move blocks of messages. This is true for both the MOVE button in the toolbar and for attempting tm move by using the control-click menu for a selected group of messages.
Mail 5.2 under Lion does not fail in this way. I am running two systems with the same collections of mail on each.
I moved back to Apple Mail because of the end-of-life status of TBird. TB has lots of bells and whistles that make for easy use and it has handled by 30K/6.5GB mail collection without difficulty. It also provides a lot of features that Mail does not have, including very helpful statistics during operations.
I looked at a variety of Mail replacements inculding all the commercial stuff. But nothing really dominates the marketplace andl the vendors seem frail. It's clear that the big money is in cloud-service e-mail handling, not apps to run on machines you own and control.
I imagined that Apple developed and maintained software would be more reliable and sustainable in the long run. It is distressing that the company's test and QA processes did not catch this but I suppose that Apple too is planning on letting Mail wither as their cloud service gains users and market share. Why sell an app once when you can charge a monthly fee for the service. It's perhaps cheeky to say but the cloud isn't a technological model it's a business model.

Why can I not drag-and-drop email addresses into Address Book?

I've used today the email client and the email address autocompletion feature figured out nicely the email addresses of the recipients I wanted to send the email to. So far so good. However, when I've selected all addresses in the To line, I would have liked to be able to drag-and-drop them into the Address Book application, automatically have new entries created there and why not a new group too?

No, that is not possible. However, [Mail Scripts|http://homepage.mac.com/aamann/Mail_Scripts.html] has a script to add every address to the address book, allowing you to pick which ones go to which group and to add a new group, if you want.

Can't drag and drop folders in Mail

I have a lot of folders in Mail, and I can only drag and drop a folder among the set of folders that is visible at a given time. If I need to drag the folder up or down, to an area that must be scrolled to, it does not work. This started when I upgraded to Yosemite.

It means don't open the Contacts app, open in in Mail: ⌥⌘A
I found another solution: type the name of the address group I need in the to: field.

Unable to use "drag and drop function" from outlook

We are changing from Lotus to outlook and this has made a problem with getting pdf-files into OAWD directly .
Procedure was like this in Lotus
1. We get documents (FI, F-43, aso ) by email
2. We use OAWD function "drag and drop" , document is attached to a document type and workflow is triggered
3. We pick up documents from Business workplace , handle the document and send it to the approver (who earlier got it directly in their mailbox "lotus")
so far so good , everything worked well
Unfortunately we changed to outlook, non attached files can be "drag and dropped" into OAWD (I understand the part about outlook is showing links instead of "real" pdf and know this is part of the problem)
My question, it can not be possible that we have to manually save the documents/attached files from outlook into "desktop" to later use the drag and drop function?
I have read about the programms to solve problem , ex "inPuncto", but our experts says there will be problem with connector to workflow from OAWD.
I have my greatest doubts about that because this must be really two diffrent moduls, one for converting from outlook and the other must be unchange (undependent of the earlier procedure). SAP can not know from what program the documents will be dragged?
Suggestion about some OAWD-adaptor ?
Any suggestions about great solutions ?

Can't drag and drop adresses in mail anymore

Hello,
Since I upgraded to Maverick (OS X 10.9 (13A603)), I can't drag and drop adresses from the adressbook to mail anymore (even Cc or Cci).
(I did the last update of Mail)
Never had this problem with Lion or Mountain Lion.
I've seen in the forums that I'm not the only one, but I didn't find any solution.
Any idea?

Smart mailboxes are not storage locations. They are simply a kind of remembered search. You cannot put things in those mailboxes, they simply show anything found in other mailboxes that matches the criteria you defined.

Drag and drop in Apple Mail

I just upgraded to OS X 10.9.1. When I started the Mail program, I was told that the mail database was being upgraded. Now I can no longer drag and drop e-mail messages between Mail folders like I could before. Is anyone else experiencing this same issue? I can use the Move to command. I really like dragging and dropping messages. I don't want to have to use the 'Move to' option if I don't have to. Does anyone know how to get back drag and drop?

SOLVED. I needed to reindex the entire mailbox database. The initial reindex when I first started Mail after the update to 10.9.1 did not work completely, and neither did reindexing individual mailboxes. Drag and drop has been restored.

In the edit page mode, click the pencil of the region were your portlets are. A region is a box with a dotted line. In the first tab you have the ability to select "Allow action". Default this is set to "all". When you set it to "none", your portlets can not be drag & dropped.

Drag and drop multiple mail messages into a folder in finder

Hello All,
I want to archive emails into folders in the finder. I can do this by dragging and dropping individual emails but not bulk emails.
Does anywone know the best way of doing this?
The reason I want to do it is once we have compleated a contract with a client, I want to archive all the messages, pictures, contacts etc into one finder folder. This way, my mail app wont keep growing horribly in size every year.

C3PO - Scanning a Folder & Detecting user's "drag-and-drop" operations

We are using Novell C3PO to export messages in XML format when the user
press a button at the GroupWise Client message window, and this was done to
provide an integration with a ERP software (from a very famous company here
in Brazil), so the user reads his emails and can click this button and open
the ERP ORDER SCREEN with all costumer's data filled in, that increases the
productivity of the Sales Departament.
REsuming, the main porpouse is to collect information of each email to open
the Order Screen of the ERP system, without having to type everything again.
The costumer wanted to go on and get several messages at the same time, that
was stored on a GroupWise Folder, using a simple redirection rule and this
was done using Visual Basic (called here "looking process"), that looks for
messages into a specific folder in the GroupWise Client called "_Send". So,
convert that messages to XML and then move to another folder called
"_History".
Now we can drag many messages at the same time to the folder _Send and then
they will be converted. It is working very well. The problem is that the
GroupWise Client computers are becoming slower because of the "looking
process" (that VB application). We used VB because we could not find a
process or a feature in C3PO that selects several messages at the same time
and read them one-by-one.
QUESTIONS :
1- Can I have this "Looking Process" using C3PO tools ?
2- Is there a way to detect a "Drag-and-Drop" event in the GroupWise Client
with C3PO, so I would not need to scan those folders ?

I've been doing something similar, but rather than creating a new
message, I've been using custom properties
on each mail, so as they arrive I add two tags, one with a tagID, and
the other with metadata. I then write
searches for each folder returning only the message that are yet to be
tagged. Nice and efficient, written
in C#. I've run over my big mailbox (2GB) and the box hardly raises a sweat.

Best Way to Backup Mail, Archive or Drag and Drop?

I'm going to perform a clean install on a 4 year old G5 at work and I'm backing up the mail but I was curious if the Drag and Drop method I've used in the past is the most efficient? In the past, I've just copied the entire mail folder to a backup location and then when the reformat was finished, replaced the new mail folders with the old one.
I've actually never noticed the "Archive Mailbox" or the "Import Mailboxes" options before and was curious if going the Archive then Import route is a better/safer option or if my old method works just fine (I've not seemingly had any problems in the past).

In my experience copying the entire Mail folder is the most trouble free method. Mail archives sometimes fail to restore. Archiving also doesn't save all the support files in the Mail folder.

I want to Sync my iPhone 4 to iTunes however I get an error message from iTunes each time I connect the phone to the PC saying that I should restore to factory settings. Frustrating because it's already annoying enough that I can't drag and drop mp3's!!!

I have never been so frustrated before in my life with any phone. I find it obnoxious as it is that I cannot simply drag and drop files (especially MP3's) straight from my PC directly into my phone, which I have been used to doing up until now. Everyone who convinced me to get the iPhone has instructed me that my frustration can be fixed by downloading iTunes and syncing it all up via that program (which I have never used before). So, I downloaded the program successfully, however when I connect the iPhone 4 to the PC and iTunes is open, I get an error message that 'iTunes cannot read the content of the iPhone "iPhone" and that I should go to the Preferences tab of the iPhone and select 'restore' to restore this phone to factory settings. First of all, I don't understand why I need to do that. I have already downloaded apps and other important things in the 2 days that I have the phone. I am also scared that it will erase my contacts. This is such a headache. Music is very imporatant to me, but I am getting so frustrated that I don't have freedom over the phone which I thought was supposed to be one of the best out there. I would really appreciate help in this matter. I am sure the phone is great but I am on the verge of taking it back and getting something else.

When I drag and drop an icon from the address bar to the desktop is does creat the shortcut but will not display the website icon, only the firefox icon, how can I display website icons?

When I drag and drop a website icon from the Forefox address bar to the desk top, the short cut is created but the icon that appears is the firefox Icon. I want to disply the icon from the website that the short cut refers to. I have checked all I can think of in my computer to no avail.

You have to assign the favicon yourself to the desktop shortcut (right-click the shortcut: Properties) after you have dragged the link to the desktop.
You can usually find the favicon in Tools >Page Info > Media and save the icon there.
Otherwise use the main domain of the website and add favicon.ico (e.g. mozilla.com/favicon.ico ) to display the favicon in a tab and save that image to a folder.
