Drag and Drop not being recorded properly.

I'm a fairly experienced Captivate user using version 3.0. I am trying to record some drag and drop activity in an Oracle application and I just can't get it to work. To be clear, I am NOT trying to create a drag and drop quiz question (so please don't tell me how to create drag and drop quiz questions, I already know how). I am trying to record the dragging of an icon from one area within the app to another (the actual visual drag). Whether I set the video to record full motion or trigger full motion recording with F9 (and stop it with F10), all I get is the initial click of the object and then the object after it has been set down in it's new location. The actual drag of the object isn't recorded. I checked my Flash player - it's version 9. Any suggestions?

Hi there
First, I'd suggest performing what I call a simple "sanity check". This should reveal to you whether the issue is with Captivate generically or if it's just that Captivate has issues with this one application.
So try this. Open Captivate and minimize all apps. Then record dragging an icon from one location to another on your desktop. If Captivate doesn't record that properly, you have a Captivate issue. If it does, you know it's an issue with the application and the way it interacts with Captivate. In that case you need to consider other avenues. Perhaps use something like Camtasia Studio or Jing to capture, save as SWF and drop it where you need it in Captivate.

Do you mean that when you move files on the Desktop, they don't stay where you put them ?.
If so - use Finder - View menu - Show View options & choose 'Arrange by' : none
If not - please describe exactly what the problem is.

Drag and Drop not working since last software update

Drag and Drop not working since last software update - this is occuring on Outlook for the mac and I just tried moving an icon on the doc and the same thing occured. YOu can drag but the items will not drop.

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

Drag and drop notes from mail onto an ical date

I've had some trouble dragging and dropping notes onto an ical date. It shows up as some lengthy message, probably its address on the hard drive, and when I open it, I can't make changes to it. Where can I make a suggestion to apple on how to improve the synchonicity of these 2 apps? Ideally, I'd like to just drag and drop a note, such as a to do list, onto an ical date, and be able to make changes to it there. Or, am I mistaken? Are the notes and to dos actually saved on a mac server, not on my computer somewhere?

The "lengthy message" is simply the message ID in Mail. If you drag the message to iCal, it will simply set up a link back to that message.
If you drag text from Mail, you will get a new event with all that text as the event title.
I suspect what you want can be achieved by creating an event, naming it and setting its time etc then opening the edit popup and dragging your text or email message onto the notes field at the foot of that popup.

Thanks for the return, well, just trying to relocate a web screen or move a saved application from the desktop into a folder. I use Final Cut Pro Ten extensively and sometimes I want to drag something off my desktop into the time line on the FCPX. When I left click and hold on the item to drag it doesn't seem to engage then when it does move it quits along the way to the drop point. I hope that makes since too you? I use a Logitech two button with a scroll wheel wired mouse and have twin 32" monitors. Thanks Latranner

- plug in your apple product .
- where it says "Devices " click on the name of your product .
- scroll down to where you see options , and check the box that says " manually manage music and videos "
- go down to where you see "Apply" and click it .
- then BOOM , drag and drop is fixed : )

More out of curiosity... I installed iphoto 08 along with all the other ilife 08 apps a while ago and didn't have any trouble. I backed up the app with just dragging and dropping it onto to my external HD. This past weekend, I had problems with my system and did a clean install. For the few documents and programs I use I just dragged and dropped them back onto my HD from the backup. Problem was iPhoto wouldn't open up, it just kept bouncing and bouncing and bouncing... You get the idea . I found the install disc, properly reinstalled iphoto and it's been fine since.
I always liked the “mac” feature of being able to drag and drop files and applications without any problems. Does this not work anymore with iphoto 08 or what did I do wrong?
I know this isn't a "problem" per se but I was curious and hoped someone could enlighten me.

I don't user Retrospect so I'm not sure that I can advice you on the specifics of the app. So, a general comment:
Most people on here seem to back up one of two things:
1. Clone their entire HD to an external so you get OS, Apps, Data uncle tom Cobbley and all. The big plus with this is that if you have an issue you can a: run from the external HD and b: restore the machine to it's previous condition very fast.

2. Back Up my User Folder, so I get my data and personalised settings (in Preferences files etc.) This is faster, and as I have a second machine I can take the time to re-install the OS and Apps etc., without everything grinding to a halt.
What I never do is back up an application. What's the point? I have the installer? So, in specifics, I back up my User Folder - that gets my iPhoto Library. I don't back up my Applications Folder. YMMV

Drag and drop not working in PE 12, MacOS 10.7.5 (Lion)

I "copied" the icon for the Photoshop Elements 12 Editor to the dock. When I drag and drop a photo icon (example, JPG or NEF) to the Elements Editor icon in the dock, nothing happens -- Elements does not open. The photo icon just "pops" back to the folder I was dragging it from. Every previous version of Elements that I've used behaved like any other Mac application and opened the photo (with an NEF file, the photo opened properly in ACR). Other Mac applications like Preview open a file just fine when it I drag and drop the file on the application icon.
I tried the same experiment with both the Editor and Organizer icons in my Applications folder and got the same results (the application did not open the file).
I skimmed through the PE Preferences to see if there was some kind of new preference for "drag and drop" behavior but didn't find anything.
So, what am I missing? How can I get PE 12 to open a file when I drag and drop a photo icon onto the Editor (or if I really have to, the Organizer) icon?

You have possibly copied the wrong icon, The application is located in Support Files.
Applications >> Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 >> Support Files
Locate Photoshop Elements 12 Editor inside the Support Files Folder.

Drag and Drop not supported in TextBox in Automation

Hi All, This is regarding the drag and drop functionality support in text box in Flex automation. I am using the automation API of Flex. since our application is having multiple modules, I had to use the automation swc given as an attachment in the JIRA Issue 1088. ( bugs.adobe.com/jira/browser/FlexEnt-1088) But these swc are not recording drag and drop on to text box. I tried adding the drag and drop events to the AutoQuickEnv.xml for textbox ; but in vain. I've installed NW 7.02 ABAP trial within a win x 64 VM on an ESXi 4.1 VMWare Server.
NSP is running - but shows also the problem described in this thread.
So I tried to solve this issue by applying note1576441 - logged on as BCUSER.
BUT:
I need ACCESS KEYs to modify the relevant SAP objects.
My question:
Where can I get the appr. ACCESS KEYs for the SAP objects I've to correct as described within note 1576441?
Do I have logged on as DDIC or SAP* or ...*
Would be great if you or anyone of this community has a hint acc. to this issue!

Flash drag and drop not finding targets in Captivate

I created a drag and drop game in Flash CS4 using Actionscript 2 which allows you to pull clothing onto a stick figure. If you get the clothes in the right place, over the target, then they stick, if not they return to their original position. It works fine but when I open it in Captivate 4 the targets no longer hold the objects. No matter where you place the clothes icons they will return to their original position.
I have captivate set up for the correct Actionscript and the fps in captivate and the swf are the same. I've included the code I wrote below. Please help if you have any answers as to why this is happening.

Thanks for the informative replies. My main issue seems to be when adding animations. For example (I have included one below
). I add this animation to my project and it runs perfectly. I then add another, very similar animation, and the sound dissapears completely in the previous one! I remove the one added, preview the project again and the first animation works again!
The only access I make to Root is through the successful click on the otherTARGET, that tells captivate to move to the next slide. Could this be the root (exuse the pun) of my problems?

Flash drag and drop not working on Firefox for android browser

Drag and drop functionality is not working using Firefox Browser for Android on tablet. We tested with flash action script 2.0 & 3.0 content, both have same issue. Specs of the tab and OS are as follows.
Android - Kitkat 4.4.2
Tab models - Lenovo A7600H and Samsung Tab4 T531

Additionally, we observed that the object on which Drag and Drop event was triggered, is moving little bit when we double tap.
Does Firefox provide any libraries to support Drag and Drop functionality on Flash? We are using Geekoview api to execute flash content in our app. Will the same support be provided in Geekoview as well?
Are there other folks facing the same issue? Is there a solution or workaround to get this feature running?

Flash on Android is no longer supported by Adobe. While Firefox does support basic functionality we mainly focus on legacy video applications. You may run into issues with Flash and Geckoview. I doubt we have any resources to support that configuration.

Drag and Drop not working in iPhoto

I have a brand new MacBook Pro running Lion, and recently when I try to drag and drop in iPhoto, it stops working. I want to drag photos from iPhoto to a folder on my desktop in order to upload those pictures online. I have never had a problem with drag and drop in Snow Leopard, but suddenly Lion does not want to let me do it.
I checked around and found out about repair permissions, which I did, then I restarted the computer. Drag and Drop worked for a few minutes, then all the sudden it wouldn't let me again. I was in the same album, trying to drag and drop the same group of pictures, and nothing had changed when it just stopped working again. I really don't want to have to restart the computer EVERY time it wont let me do this. Does anyone have any other advice? Command copy/paste works for now, but drag and drop is just easier so I'd like to get the issue resolved! Oh, and my software is completely up to date as well.

Does anybody have any ideas?
I've updated to the new version of iTunes since I originally posted this,
but the drag and drop feature is still not working. This is making it
impossible for me to update anything on my iPod.

Derek,IE11 is having some compatibility issues with the share point.Apart from IE11,it should work on IE10,9 and Firefox and chrome as well.
Please check the links below that explains the issues with IE11 and the functionality of Drag and drop and limitations as-well.
1.Since SharePoint 2013 fully support IE 32-bit version above 7, there might be compatibility issue with other browsers. I’d recommend you use IE 8,9,10 32-bit for optimal Performance.
2. Open the same document library in Internet Explorer as this functions does not work with Firefox or Chrome by default
3. Make sure the IE (Internet Explorer) Version should be 32-bit and not a 64-bit
